Only Ike's in the area which is unfortunate because I'm stuck having to come here. This location is in a strip mall that is like a ghost town. It's holding its own. The place is hot and a little dirty but the service is always nice and quick! It's 102 degrees outside and all their fans are turned off. I would ask if they could turn them off but the fans have cobwebs all over them that I don't want falling into our food so that's a bust. Ordered the Matt Cain for the first time. However, for a $14 sandwich, you'd think there would have been more meat. Based on comparative photos, it looks like some ingredients were missing unfortunately but maybe that's from the organizational perspective. I'm not sure what happened but after we ordered, we waited a good 30 mins for the staff to make the sandwich. It looked like something has gone wrong which caused them to make sandwiches at a slower pace. Not sure if it was lack of ingredients / improper prep for the busy lunchtime. Had a soccer tournament in the area and in between games I wanted to take the boys somewhere decent in mind for lunch that was quick and had protein and carbs. A mom suggested coming here and I remember loving Ike's when I was living in SF so we drove over. Plenty of parking and it's in a shopping center and near the movie theater. It was a little warm that day and walking into the store was a bit of a letdown because they didn't put the AC on, or if they did it wasn't cranked high. They did have fans going but for me it was uncomfortable and cooler to sit outside in the shade (only thanks to the breeze). 1/3 of my team came in and there was a line but it gave the boys a chance to read the extensive menu. The cashier was VERY friendly and patient with my team and I didn't think the sandwiches took that long despite the small crowd. Inside there isn't much space to sit. And I'm sure with the amount of people in there waiting and eating it just got warm. Luckily we snagged tables outside and the team could spread out. There's only one bathroom and someone was in there for SO. LONG. My team had to go to the theater to use the bathroom. The sandwiches were... ok. Maybe the team is used to more basic turkey and cheese but some did try the more adventurous sandwiches. I know I didn't finish mine and I honestly can't even remember what I ordered. Maybe the Italian. It was alright. Kiddo got the Caesar salad with chicken sandwich. He only took a few bites. He knows I hate wasting food so he didn't even tell me he threw most of it away until.... About an hour later we're warming up and (most of) the players that went to Ike had tummy issues. Kids are demanding the restroom. The moms that came with us are needing it too. And me, I have an iron stomach. Seriously, the questionable stuff I eat sometimes can be worrisome. But even I had to step away from my team to run to the restroom and when I coach, I never leave the team. Even if I have to pee I usually hold it until the end of the game. So this was unusual for me. Everyone else on the team who didn't join us for lunch was fine. I think on a hot day, Ike's gotta keep that place cool.
