Service was friendly and they allowed me to order Lee's infamous House Coffee in my reusable cup, filling my cup to the brim. I usually go to this place and haven't had a ridiculous experience until today. I wanted to just buy a baguette and was going to pay with a card which I always did before, this time, the worker said there was a $5 minimum for all card purchases. I asked when did that happen? I normally always use my card to just get a sandwich that's under $5. He said we just started because we've never use to take cards. LIES! So I ordered a sandwich and a drink to make it about $6 and he took my card. He asked me if I wanted my drink hot or cold? And I said cold with no ice. When my drink came, it was half full, as if they calculated the space for ice but since I said no ice, they didnt fill my cup up. Shocked I took the drink and walked out. This was first time at a Lee's Sandwich place. I was about to purchase a groupon for them but found a coupon in one of those magazines in the mail. After reading several of the mixed Yelp reviews I decided to try it myself. I got there at 7:30 pm. The lights were off but I saw two people cleaning but the door was unlocked so in went in. No greeting and I stood looking at the menu for a minute then I asked if they were still open. One behind the counter said yes with a smile and took my order. I could not see them making the sandwich like at other sandwich places. I took my food and went home. I normally love Banh Mi sandwiches. This one was just ok. The bread was soft but it did not seem very fresh. Normally you get a nice crispy crust with a soft inside on the Banh Mi sandwich. The meat was cold even through this was a grilled pork sandwich. The price is cheap but I guess you get what you pay for. I think I will pass on this place, it's just not a good value to me. read more

My husband and I LOVE Lee's Sandwiches but, sadly, we DREAD going to the Pasadena location! (I grew up near the Lee's in Artesia, which is really nice.) Yesterday when we went to the Pasadena shop, I was appalled by how dirty the tables were with leftover scraps of food, not to mention the floor looks filthy and the chairs are totally beat up. There was also a whole table full of food trash from another restaurant, like one of the staff took a lunch break and didn't bother to clean up. The whole place looked dingy, and it was so hot inside! I think their AC must've broken because I heard one of the girls behind the counter ask the other girl about it. Speaking of their staff, they just seem unhappy and bored, which is funny considering that if they just grabbed a sponge and mop, they'd have PLENTY to do around the restaurant in between customers. But nope-- We happened to walk in at the same time as 2 guys that seemed to be friends with one of the employees. So instead of doing work to clean up, she just chatted with her friends! Ugh. To avoid going in, we used to order delivery, but shortly after moving to Pasadena in December, they stopped offering delivery. If you've never been to another Lee's location, don't let the Pasadena shop deter you. Lee's is delicious and you can find better elsewhere at another location. I've been coming here every once in a while for a few years now. I always get the banh mi sandwiches, which are pretty good. The baguettes are good too if you get it freshly baked. In the past few years the price has almost doubled. Still cheap, but not like it was. My one complaint: sometimes it's a little skimpy on the meat, and I will order extra meat. But they add so little that you can barely tell, unless you ask them to add it on the side. It's weird: ask for extra meat on the sandwich, and you barely get any. Ask for it on the side, and it's much more generous. But the other day the manager or owner(?) said they couldn't give the extra meat on the side. Which would be fine except they're still stingy with it. After jacking up all the prices in addition to the charge for extra meat, be a little bit generous! read more

Whoever is working as cashier today just made my experience here (though, not the first) had superb customer service. Very patient and helpful. He should be promoted. He works like a boss. We read the reviews thinking there was no way they could be accurate. Lee's is the best! Sadly, the yelpers were telling the truth and this specific location is a horrible representation of a wonderful Bánh Mì chain. To start, the guy at the register acted like he didn't want to be there, even worse, he acted like he didn't even want us to be there. -We tried to order teriyaki chicken...they were out (it was only 4pm) -We asked for 2 cups of water and he grumbled that there was bottled water next to us and begrudgingly poured us two cups after we asked again 10 minutes later -We wanted an order of spring rolls and he pointed at a prepackaged plate that had been sitting on the register counter since before we even ordered. Keep in mind, these spring rolls have seafood in them and also say "KEEP REFRIGERATED" on the package. Upon clarifying that the spring rolls were fresh, he grumbled again that they were, but we ultimately decided not to take that risk -We ordered thai tea...it was awful. I don't even know how you can do thai tea wrong, but he definitely did. THE FOOD WAS BAD. There's really not much else to say. It's pretty tough to mess up a sandwich but really it was not good. As the only customers in the entire restaurant, we shouted goodbye as we were leaving. He was on the phone and gave us a mild goodbye in response. Overall, the food was probably 2 stars, but because of the terrible low-quality service and the obnoxiously loud unstable cable channel that was blasting a static noise throughout our entire meal, I had to knock it down to 1 star. read more

I'm happy this Lee's Sandwiches is here because this is closer to me than their other locations! Conveniently located on Colorado across from Target, they do not have their own parking lot but there is a lot of street parking in that surrounding area. There are paid public parking lots as well, but as long as you are willing to walk a couple of blocks street parking is usually easy to find. The location itself is pretty small, with only a few tables inside. I think most of their customers take the food to-go, like I did. There were only two employees when I was there so it took them a while to deal with everyone's orders. I did not think it was bad though, considering I ordered six sandwiches (for a potluck I was going to). The lady who took my order was nice enough and the guy who gave it to me was pretty nice too. Their "Asian sandwiches" (banh mi) are served on 10" baguettes and they all come with house pickle, jalapeno, cilantro, salt and pepper, mayo, and soy sauce. I ordered three of the #1 Lee's Combination and three of the #2 Pork Roll. I was able to try both of them at the potluck and I thought both were good and tasted like normal Lee's Sandwiches. They are around $5 each so I think it's a pretty good deal for a meal in this area! read more

Lee's Iced coffee. Yes. Lee's Sandwiches (ANY). Yes. I love coming here because it is within walking distance of my work. The food and drink isn't too pricey and it is consistently delicious! Heads up though, they only take cash last time I went. They've got a bathroom and free wifi as well with some seating so it could be a good place to do some work while grabbing food. Must try! This place has surprisingly low prices. I ordered a "bbq pork" combo (not sure why it's a combo since it's just a sandwich with no other items) and a thai iced tea. The total for my bill was only $5.76. I had to wait 7 minutes for them to make a new batch of bread, but if you have the time I highly recommend that you ask them to toast a new piece of bread for you. The bread was hot, and moist. The rest of the sandwich was pretty good, nothing mind blowing but pretty good. I think if they added some jalepenos or cut their vegetables smaller it might be easy to eat. The thai iced tea was only okay. It was not very sweet and had a strange metallic aftertaste, I'll pass next time. But that means my next meal sans drink will only be $3! read more

I've got some love for Lee's bahn mi sandwiches! Came here on cool July Friday afternoon. Few ppl in the place eating & couple in their 50s/60s working the counter/sandwiches. Judge Judy playing on a TV screen in an otherwise quiet restaurant. Ordered a BBQ pork & a grilled pork. 2 sandwiches for under $7 (including tax)! Interesting spot when you can buy $1.59 pickled veggies to go - next to a container of fancy cookies for $38. Interesting contrast there. Sandwiches made on Freshly baked bread, but very light meat on the BBQ pork, and much more meat on the grilled pork... Average amount veggies /cilantro both. Tasty bahn mi! I was in and out in 10 minutes. For the price & relatively quick speed (compared to many other reviews on here), I give 4 stars. Ordered the #11 Special Sandwich for $3.99. The picked veggies was not as sour or pickled as I would have like them to be, but it was still good. The bread however, was hard. For a sandwich shop that make their own bread, this shouldn't happen. I've had better from Mr. Baguette, but this cured my cravings for the mean time. I also ordered the avocado smoothie. It was not as sweet as I would have liked, but I know they used fresh avocados because I can taste it. Not to mention that they left part of the stem in the drink. Just a couple of tips. First off, theses are the best Bahn mi sandwiches in town. The bread is always Crunchy and fresh and super quick!! I order sandwiches for parties here all the time, they have great platters. They've even delivered to me, Im in Old town pasadena before. You know it's not a gourmet resturant it's a chain or maybe a franchise, so I'm sure occasionally they have a bad day, but I've always had consistent service and sandwiches. I places my online order at 6am for pickup at 10:15am. I had to wait 30 minutes for it and watched 7 people with walk in orders arrive before me and get to leave with their orders before me. I am obsessed with Lee's coffee, their large iced keeps me going all day long. I get serious cravings for it, but it can keep me up at night, be known it is strong and the sweetness masks the punch pretty well. They have a great young lady working there that recommended that we try the hot wings. Tip: ask them to make them fresh, YUMMY AMAZING. Groupon Shopper: Be careful of the $12 for $20 deal. Read the fine print. 1 per person and per visit. This deal gives you 4 vouchers, and each voucher has the value of $5. I have used it, and I cant combine the voucher. In order to complete the transaction, the balance need to be over $5.00 before tax. Hence, you have to buy an extra overprice item that you dont want. Doesnt matter what it is, an egg roll that costs 5 cents to make or a drink that cost 15 cents to make. Not only that, factor in that I have to come here in 4 separate visit. THE GAS! But if you have to buy a sandwich anyway, so, yes, in sense, it just feel like you saved, in reality, one sandwich doesnt worth much. Again, the cashier will not run the voucher if it is not $5 dollars or more. Ringing up one sandwich, I'm off by 5 to 10 cents. This deal is good for Lee's Sandwich to attract new customer and get rid of soon to be expired inventories , but so-so for us customer. I think mainly the problem is that Lee's Sandwich doesn't allow me to combine the voucher. Why can't they just let us use all the vouchers in one go! The bread here is not as fresh as the one served in Valley. The sandwich is still ok, just a little tough tearing off the bread. The ingredients are fine. The owner should drops the price. Having a customer to pay close to $5 for a sandwich made with premade / "left over" bread is wrong. Lets say its not left over, but we can't deny that it is not fresh off the oven. The one on Valley always serve the sandwich fresh off the oven. This place doesnt have filter water and it served drinks, I dont know if this matter to you. Imagine flavor syrup with sink water. Most restaurant give you a sense that their water is filter when the waitress serve it to you in a jar. When I ask for a cup of water to drink, the cashier just get a cup filled with ice and head straight for the sink. No more free coffee when you check in. Just checked today. Nothing wrong with the staffs. If I want Lee's Sandwich, Ill take my $5 to Valley to get a fresh one. I only come here unless this place give an awesome deal to offset the quality of the sandwich. This place does give deal, I need to be more careful next time on the deal they give out. $12 for $20 is good only if they let us combine the voucher. read more

I decided to check out this new Lee's since I'd never been to one. Surprisingly, the American sandwich I ordered was better than the Vietnamese one. Anyway, the banh mi I ordered was just ok. When you order a pork roll and pate sandwich (more pate than a regular one) it should have a decent amount of pate. Not so much in this one, as it was barely noticeable. They skimped on the fixings compared to other places, but I wasn't complaining too much for a $3 meal. The banh mi was edible, but I can't say I would jones for one these. I'd rather drive out to Alhambra for something better. I also bought the Lee's Club for lunch the next day - Turkey/ham/roast beef combo on a croissant. It was a solid, cheap option and even a day old still tasted great. I scored a couple of Iced Lattes, since they came with any order for their opening week promotion.
