When we first reached out to Danny and explained that we wanted to redo our entire front and back yard, he came over and spent at least an hour or two over two or three visits and helped us plan out our vision for our yard. We had some ideas in our heads, and Danny and Willy both added their expert opinions on some tweaks here and there until we had a final plan we were all happy with. We were quoted a very fair price and the work started the next week exactly as promised. Throughout the project Danny and Willy's communications with us went above and beyond anything I've come to expect from "service companies" these days. It seems like most companies overpromise and underdeliver. But Danny and Willy delivered exactly as promised and more to be honest. They were constantly checking in and making sure we were happy with the progress, and anytime we highlighted an issue (which only happened once and was very minor) or something we wanted to change, Danny and Willy were eager to make the changes and make us happy. You can tell Danny and Willy take great pride in what they do and that is so refreshing. I could not be happier with the work Desert Rose did at our house, and I would recommend them to anyone looking for a hard working, honest company that delivers a great finished product

I was quoted one price but always charged significantly more depending on which way the wind blew, so to speak. He would always, without fail, cancel/reschedule on me at least once. Then when he did show up he was always very late. I would call him to fix a standard bubbler leak, I can say standard cause I normally do them myself, and he would show up without the stuff to fix the leak and have to come back. This happened repeatedly and was extremely frustrating. He was a nice guy and spoke English so in lieu of going back on the hunt for another landscaper, I reluctantly put up with it. Until tonight. Today I had a regular maintenance. I had 1 very small leak fixed, in which I supplied the parts because he did not have anything with him again. He tried to get $60 more than my quoted price again. I did not have that much cash so he took $40 more than my set price. Which was more than fair given the leak was in the spaghetti line and took 5 minutes and he used my materials. He decided to text me tonight saying he needs to charge me more for my regular maintenance. More??? I was already routinely paying significantly more than I was quoted. He says he charges $100 an hour and can't survive by charging me $160 for my maintenance (keep in mind I was quoted $120 for my maintenance). He was here for 1 hour today and I paid $160 (he wanted $180). If he supposedly charges $100 hour then I have been getting taken advantage of for years and sounds like he owes me money. Let me also say that my yard is standard track home size. I have one tree which I pay a separate arborist to trim. So, as you can imagine, I was livid that he had the audacity to send me this text. Especially, given all I have put up with from him. This was the straw that broke the camel's back. My neighbor had already fired him. I felt bad but after his poor choice to text me asking for more money tonight I now know it is time to go back on the hunt for a new landscaper. There are constantly people on social media complaining about their landscaper and on the lookout for a reliable one. I just don't understand why it is so hard to find a good and reliable help these days. I should start a landscaping business. To be hugely successful all I would need to do is show up, be there when I say I will and do a decent job.

Joey came out to do the quote and was quick, efficient, and explained what to expect. I received the estimate later that same day as promised and the price was fair. When I approved the quote we talked about color options, and he recommended the "Native" color. I wanted something neutral but with a little character in a herringbone pattern, and I'm really happy with how it turned out. He also mentioned darker tones tend to hold up better in the Arizona heat since lighter colors fade faster. The only hiccup was the scheduling process. They require a deposit before scheduling, which made me a little hesitant. I was told I'd get a call later that day to set the install date, but it took a couple follow-up calls before we actually got it confirmed. The office staff was always very polite and helpful though. On install day, I had given instructions on where materials could be placed since I live in a townhouse complex, but the pavers ended up being left in the grass overnight instead. Luckily everything was fine. I later found out the superintendent originally assigned to my project got sick, so another team member stepped in and didn't have all the details from our earlier conversations, which probably explains the communication mix-up. That said, once the work started the crew moved quickly and finished within the expected timeframe (about three days). The final result looks great and I'm very happy with the finished project.

The crew's craftsmanship on the travertine was genuinely good, but everything around project management and communication fell short. Owner Kendall repeatedly gave us specific dates and times for work to happen, which were then missed without proactive updates -- we had to chase him for status on nearly every phase. Demo also ran long, and the crew failed to clear debris from our driveway in time for Easter; we ended up using Facebook Marketplace to get people to haul away leftover materials ourselves. The turf installation has been the most disappointing part. For what we paid for a premium product, the seams are visibly poor. It took five weeks just to get a crew out to attempt a repair, and that attempt made the seam lines worse. We now have a tentative date for another repair, but given the pattern of missed commitments, we're not confident it will be honored. At one point we went over a month without any contact from them - until they called asking for payment, and we had to push back to get anyone out to the site. The project started before Easter. It's now nearly August, and it's still not finished. If clear communication and reliable follow-through matter to you, I'd be cautious about pursuing CitiScapes.
