My husband and I recently came to Lefkes after we had been on our honeymoon to Santorini. We had gone to the Lefkes in Santorini and met the owner there and he told us that he was opening up this restaurant. We were so excited to get to eat some great Greek food in New Jersey. The restaurant itself is on the corner so it's a little difficult to get into the parking lot, but there is a valet parking station there and they handle it for you. The building itself is absolutely beautiful and the ambience of the restaurant was really comfortable and modern. They had a seafood station where you could look at the fresh seafood they were offering for the day and they had a wide range of wines on their list, many of which were Greek which is something my husband and I were very happy about. There are plenty of fish options on this menu and most you need to order by the pound. There are many traditional Greek style foods on the appetizer list, however, my husband and I wished that they were more Greek style options on the main menu such as moussaka. We ended up ordering an assortment of appetizers and one entrée to partake in a traditional style mezze as we did in Greece (trying a little of everything). All of the food was delicious and we reminisced the whole time about our wonderful trip to Greece. We were surprised that on a Friday night there was relatively a small crowd. Went there for Father's day. Food was excellent. However service needs improvement. We waited a long time for our meal and appetizers while it appeared that the owner/ manager himself served two other adjacent tables with a lot of attention while we hung around waiting between servings. We came here for my sisters birthday dinner/celebration. We had a 9 PM reservation that was inside on the first level. My sister specifically called to specify that we wanted to be inside on the first level weeks prior to the dinner and the girl on the phone let her know that would be absolutely no problem. Fast forward to last night, we were a party of 10 planning to eat and drink all night. After about an hour and 15 minutes of waiting we were finally sat inside at a table. There was another group of people who obviously had an "in" with the owner who they were trying to squeeze in a table next to ours but there was clearly no room. After about 10 minutes of sitting and no one coming up to us we were asked to move to an outside table where we were going to "eat and drink for free" per the owner. We were again sitting there for about 25 to 30 minutes where no one came up to us, gave us menus, or took our drink orders. Finally someone came over with menus and let us know that the kitchen closed at 11:30 we received our menus at 11:39pm. We let the manager know that we were supposed to eat at nine and no one came up to us for our order and now at 11:39 we still haven't eaten dinner (keep in mind we were all having a cocktail or two before dinner when we went to the bar ourselves) This place treats new customers like absolute garbage and I'm disgusted at what happened last night. The owner proceeded to enjoy her night eating and drinking wine at her table while we were all drinking alcohol and still have not eaten a thing. PLEASE do not waste your time at this restaurant. The service is absolutely atrocious will never be back and will be sure to let everyone know how terrible my experience was. Not worth the hype at all. read more

I love what they've done with this place. We drove 45 minutes to meet friends at Lefkes and it was 200% worth the drive. From the moment the valet took our keys to when Zoe delivered our check, Lefkes impressed every step of the way. The Atmosphere - Clean, Crisp, Elegant, and High End. Get dressed up and enjoy a special occasion. The Food - To start: Highly recommend the Lefkes Crisps and the Garides Psites - I'm still thinking about all the flavors and textures. Oh and the warm bread, yum! Main course: The lamb and fresh fish market were the highlights here - where else can you pick your fish before they grill it? Done to perfection. Had dinner there Sunday evening with my wife. Pretty space and food and drinks were good. Service however was a very different story. Not sure what the issue was with our waiter Gary, but he sucked. The moment he asked if we were having drinks while looking elsewhere and not even offering a cocktail menu, I knew we were in for some ignoring and mind you the restaurant was not crowded. We had our dinner, props to rest of staff who brought out the food, they were great. We asked for a dessert menu and Gary never came back after dropping them off, so probably for the first time ever we just asked for the check and skipped dessert. Gary was so busy chatting it up with the other employees, one who seemed to be a manager, that I had to signal to that same individual to take my card because Gary was once again chatting it up on the other side with another employee. Didn't see him have a problem chatting up his other tables and tending to them so maybe Gary just didn't like the lesbians at my table. I won't be going back. read more

We made a reservation in advance, confirming outdoor seating for our large family group. The outdoor seating was the basis on which we chose the restaurant. When we arrived, the man seating us had nothing set up for us outside, and told us he could seat us indoors, and that we'd be alone with maybe a couple other tables. Reluctantly we agreed as the dinner was a send-off for family leaving for college. He proceeded to seat many tables throughout the dining room. When he started to seat someone in the table closest to ours, I finally said something, and he moved them next to another table. Except for the seating lack of safety and dishonesty, the servers were incredibly warm and helpful. The food was mostly pretty good. My daughter's steak was great, the eggplant appetizer was delish, and the chicken souvlaki looked very good. The gigantes were cooked unevenly and too heavy on the celery for my taste. Bread was fabulous with zaatar and hummus. Pretty space. read more

This spot was made for outdoor dining. The service, food and ambiance was impeccable. I am a certified New York snob (lived there for over 20 years) and I have to say I did not miss dining in New York. The food was fresh and delicious. We started with the horitiki, beef meatballs and fried calamari. I had the Dover sole special (felt like I was back in Santorini). My husband and brother both had the lamb chops and sister in law had mushroom risotto. For dessert orange cake and vanilla panna cotta. I recommend all of these dishes. I have no complaints other than I can't believe this place doesn't have a higher rating. I think this is my new favorite restaurant in New Jersey. And as for covid precautions, I felt safe and everything was clean. They were taking it seriously and I appreciate that. Can't wait to go back again. read more

This restaurant has really risen to the occasion. The outdoor space is just beautiful. The food is delicious, the service is terrific and all In all a wonderful night out. They should rename this joint (I use joint because I do not feel it is worthy of the term restaurant) Lefkes E. Cheese not because they have excellent saganaki or halloumi and not because it's so obviously cheesy but because they allow children to run around like it's a frikin' playground at 10pm on a Thursday night. Not only did they do nothing to discourage this behavior but they kept giving the children sparklers, which are not only dangerous (they almost set my guest's jacket on fire) and are likely illegal especially under the circumstances; in a covered dining establishment. Regardless, it's rude and disruptive to diners spending $200+ per person on dinner. As always, I never leave a negative review unless warranted-in this case I did email the restaurant regarding my experience but they failed to reply. I was so disgusted, I refused my main course and left before I could even finish my dining experience. Also to note, headlights blind diners in the outdoor dining area every time a car pulls up; needless to say it won't be a problem for me ever again. read more

Not a fan. Decor and place is aesthetically pleasing but what sells a place is not just solely that. The service was extremely odd from the moment we walked in. We called to make a reservation, we came in and gave our name and they said that we would have to wait 25 minutes before being seated regardless of our reservation. Than along came a kind woman who quickly attended to us after hearing what the hostess said and made it clear that there are tables available for us to sit at and that they would let us choose which one we would prefer. As we walked towards the back there were a couple of empty tables and we chose our seat. Which as I said was strange because we did make a reservation regardless. The hostess was definitely not on her game that night, and we would've easily left if the other woman never stepped in. Regardless we probably should've left at that point. We sat down and waiting about 20 min for our server to come, her name was Zoe and I normally don't name someone but it was probably one of the worst services I've had in a VERY LONG TIME. She came to take our order and we asked for suggestions and she barely gave us eye contact, seemed irritated the whole time. We put in our appetizer order and she never came back for at least 30 something minutes. At this point all of the tables were getting bread, and had a water jug at their table we got NONE, no bread and no water to refill. Ridiculous. Eventually she came to take our dinner order and once again very irritated no suggestions. We in no way were enjoying this meal at all of how awful our service was. She kept attending to the tables around us and if we would try to wave her down it was almost like we were personally being ignored. Finally we waved her down and asked for a water jug for our table like everyone else had, about 5 min later she comes with a pitcher and just fills our glasses up herself instead of bringing us the water jug. Food comes out, it was decent but overall I think the experience made us want to get the heck out of there. It gets better the restaurant is emptying out and our waiter is nowhere to be found, and finally pops back up and we quickly asked for the check before she played hide and seek again on us. She brought it over and of course you would think she'd take a while to come retrieve the check but that she was indeed quick to get. Please I hope this review does not get overlooked but please train your staff to be attentive. This place has potential and it pains me to even write such a review because I really looked forward to coming here, we were celebrating an occasion and it was just such a disappointment. If you want this place to last make sure the servers want to even be there in the first place too and have the hostess check on what's going on in the dining room before telling us we have a 25 min wait even though some kind lady brought us to the back and said we can choose where we'd like to sit. Makes no sense and I will most likely never be back. read more

OK food but absolutely horrific service. Waited an hour for cold appetizers and entrees. For the prices being charged at Lefkes they should providing GREAT food and ATTENTIVE service. You will find neither here. Strongly recommend you instead go to Varka in Ramsey if you're looking for a great Greek seafood experience. Lefkes is a giant letdown. read more

Food is good no question about it. Octopus, meatballs, sushi, shrimp, not a problem. What is a problem is service. Main waiter = Terrible. Took him 12 minutes to come over and ask us if we wanted a drink. At the same time we ordered a drink (since we had 12 minutes to glaze over the menu 3x), he took our appetizer order. I joked after he took the order, "we'll see him in an hour". And low and behold, never saw him again until he was ready to have the check paid. (He had to be nudged by the Maitre D since he was bad at his job). I paid the check and he blurts out (standing right behind us) "oh my god only $17 tip". Meanwhile it was $106 in food, and he deserved $0. Its amazing to me that this place took over American Cut, and it's a fact the monthly fixed costs must be high, Considering the place is large and considered high end. Bottom line, food is fine, but if I was investor I wouldn't higher the clowns they have working. It's killing the place read more

Came here on my birthday with reservations, waited for my friend to arrive and was promptly seated. Drinks took a little while but we were not in a rush as we took our time ordering appetizers and entrees. I ordered the stuffed chicken and my friend ordered the branzini. When the entrees came we were never told they "no longer serve" the stuffed chicken on the menu. I honestly had already started eating it and didn't notice. But how does the entree make it all the way to the table and I was never notified they don't actually make the stuffed chicken anymore? The manager came over to explain the situation but seemed unfazed by the servers/kitchens error. I asked for sautéed spinach and they didn't have that either. On a whole, the front of the house service was a bit overbearing and I was surprised this even occurred. Given the area this restaurant is located in, i would not expect negligence as a service standard. read more

Snapper was good (I would hope so); sushi rolls were average (but why go to this place for sushi?); Stuffed squid sounded like an interesting entree but was kind of bland; Greek Salad was very fresh but serving was small. Service very slow. One dish came out ice cold (cauliflower). I assume the service issues will get fixed (was there the second week it was opened) but there are lots of Greek and Mediterranean options in this area, many of which are better. Fist off the two stars is ONLY for the location,ambiance and decor other then that its a zero. The service is horrible the place is packed and everything and everyone is a rush rush rush. Reservation for 8:30pm (inside) and had to wait we were told "go wait by the bar", once at the over packed bar I had to wait to order a drink (Vodka/cranberry) and I received an overpriced glass of juice. The server was the worst rushed us from start to finish, no introduction first words were "are we ready", Asked for a bottle of flat water was poured sparkling when i was able to almost jump in front of the server I told him about the water he responds "its your fault for not saying something when i poured it". He continued on and ignored us for most of the night. The appetizers were just ok, the food was under cooked and EVERYTHING was overpriced. To close this place is a social media place and only that, IF YOU ARE NOT A "REGULAR" DO NOT EXPECT TO BE TREATED LIKE A HUMAN. We made a reservation and popped in on a Sunday evening. It's very pretty, with light woods and interesting light fixtures. We were seated at the bar, even though we asked for indoor dining room seating. It was very dark, as bars usually are. I needed my phone flashlight in order to read the menu. We asked if we could be moved, and they checked and told us that there was going to be a party in the dining room later and we'd be unhappy with the noise. There was no party. In reality, they had many empty tables, but didn't want to open up that area of the restaurant. The food is tasty. I had the grilled octopus, which was done beautifully. The lamb chops were cooked perfectly, and came with delicious lemon potatoes. The service was a bit off, but maybe that is due to service staffing issues with Covid? They kept bringing our food without clearing off the dishes from the last course, and the waiter didn't seem to give us his full attention. He would talk with other staff people while speaking to us, interrupting our ordering. It was weird. Anyway, the summary is: good food with iffy service, and poor seating. When we left, the hostess apologized for seating us at the bar and told us that she will make sure to seat us in the dining room when we come back. Why wait until we return? Why not seat us in the dining room, as our reservation was made for, tonight? We won't be coming back... read more

We were very disappointed We love Greek/Mediterranean restaurants. The restaurant looked very good, except for the filled ashtray on the deck when you walked into the restaurant. The menu was fine. They substitute their liquor and then lie about it when questioned. Spoke with manager and all he did was apologize, but no offer to make amends. Background: Waiter asked what cocktail I wanted. I asked which Single Malts they had. He said that they many and asked what I wanted. I asked if they had Balvenie 12 or 15. He said both and I ordered the 15. I was not served the 15 or even the 12. I questioned him and he said it was what I ordered, but offered to change it. I spoke with the bar tender on the 2nd floor and she said that it sent up from the main bar downstairs. She offered to get me something else, stating that they must have run out yesterday. I said I would take a walk downstairs and see what they had. The main bar told me that they do not have any Balvenie's. If you order premium liquor, make sure you do it at the main bar and see them pour it. Other than that, the food and atmosphere is great. read more

Entering the restaurant it seems like a very nice establishment. We were seated right away and everything was good up to this point. Waiter came over took our order of the octopus to start and the pink snapper for two, he than asked us if we would like the salad or chips and we said the salad. At this time we also ordered two drinks from the bar. The starter came out after 20 mins, octopus was cold but very good, better than the main course. The salad was ok, it was tomato and cucumber nothing really to write about. At this point we had yet to receive our drink order meanwhile tables all around us are getting their drinks. Finally the drinks came, the whisky one was good, the French martini tasted like cough syrup. Next the fish came out and was very dry, we even said this to the waiter who assured us it wasn't, it most definitely was even the lemon on the side didn't help. Also we were warned that they're may be some bones, my piece was filled with bones and a few scales. Apart from this when the bill came, we were over charged for the fish. They charged us for the wrong fish than the waiter told us oh it's the same fish but would change it if we wanted. He came back the fish went from $109 to $85. We were also charged $17 for the tomato salad that the waiter made seemed like it was included with the meal. I would Never recommend this restaurant to anyone. And anyone who reads this, do yourself a favor and double check the bill to make sure they charge for the right fish. read more

To sum up my experience in one word: "dissapointing." This restaurant seems to try and over emphasize its ambiance to justify the obscene prices for average tasting food and questionable service. As an appetizer we ordered the vegetable tempura roll which never came out. After our entrees were served I questioned the waiter as to our order's whereabouts, he stated that the chef had already prepared the dish and we should gotten it. After we testified that the dish never arrived we were assured that it would be brought out shortly. In addition to our missing roll the sides which were ordered were also notably absent. This too we were assured would be out promptly. Both the roll and the sides did come but only after we had finished our meal. Delivering side dishes so late is unacceptable, especially for a restaurant trying to seem like a high class establishment. Additionally, the tempura roll was horrible as it was one small thin piece of vegetable, I honestly think it was just a piece of seaweed, which was overly fried. Either the chef was punishing us because we were never served our dish and complained, or the roll itself is truly disgusting. I believe the former and hope for the latter. In any case the service was evidently bad and the food to average to save this place from a 2 star rating. read more

The food was great, but the service was the worst we've ever experienced in a lifetime of dining. It was New Year's Eve, but it was not crowded when we arrived at 7:30. We booked 2 weeks in advance, but they did not have our reservation. After seating, it took 40 minutes to get our drinks. Yes, I said 40. After finally arriving with our drinks and seeing our glum faces, the waiter said "Hey, it's a fun night, you should smile!" We sampled all the appetizers and they were all terrific. But we had to wait another 40 minutes to get them. When the main dishes arrived, which was about 2 hours and 45 minutes after we sat down, they only served three out of the five of us, and left two of us waiting another five minutes for our main dishes. We were sitting at that table for three and half hours. The place is delicious... and excruciating. read more
