We were looking for a place to get dinner on a Friday night in the WV, which is an Olympic sport. We walked into 2 other restaurants on the block and were told they were full. Left Bank had a reservation for 45 mins later and we grabbed it. We walked around WV and then headed back to the restaurant. The hostess was really nice and let us get seated 20 mins before our reservation time because we were there early! Our waiter was also extremely nice, he answered questions about the menu and provided great recommendations. The restaurant has nice vibes and is cozy. A great spot for dinner or a date night. We ordered espresso martinis to start, as recommended by our waiter. They were solid with decent foam and a roasted espresso taste. For dinner, we got the large order of mussels and a cacio e Pepe. The mussels were a classic white wine/garlic preparation which is exactly what I was craving. Came with fries and a few slices of bread for dipping in the sauce. The Cacio e Pepe had really nice flavor and a super fun noodle shape. With these curly shaped noodles it is always a bit more al dente than I prefer but I did really enjoy this pasta dish. Stumbled upon this place on a Friday night and was able to snag a seat outside. This place is definitely pricey BUT the food was phenomenal. I was a bit apprehensive about shallots in cacio e Pepe but I was wrong, it was incredible! The shaved Brussel sprouts salad & bolognese were great too. The ambiance of Left Bank is really beautiful, however, the food didn't live up to my expectations. We went on a weeknight for their amazing happy hour deals ($25 for two appetizers / $25 for a burger and beer / $25 for pasta and a glass of wine). From looking at their regular menu prices, we couldn't pass this up! The restaurant was almost completely empty when we went-- only a couple more tables were seated outside, so the servers were very attentive. For our appetizers, we had half a dozen oysters and meatball bruschetta. The oysters were fresh, but the meatball bruschetta was a tad too salty. As for my entree, the pasta noodles felt a little undercooked for my liking. I would potentially return, but only for the vibe of the restaurant or if someone else wanted to go. read more

Solid French-American spot in the west village. We got a last-minute reservation for Saturday at 7:30 without a problem. Service was attentive, perhaps because the section of the dining room we were in was less full than the main room. That meant that our dinner was a little on the quieter side, and we were sitting under, a strong vent: usually would not be an issue, but since it was a rainy evening, it was a little cold. The food however, was very good. The shaved brussels sprout salad was refreshing and not too bitter. The chicken baguette sandwich was one of the best chicken sandwiches I've had. We asked to be seated outside when it was 32 degrees and they said yes! They have heaters outside. They also have an outside seating that isn't completely closed off, it's nice and open and allows a good amount of air flow. The waiter named Eli was super nice and knowledgeable. We all got the burger and beer for $25. They gave me a full size pint of Delirium Tremens, a Belgian beer, it tasted like the trippel. It was the first beer I've had in months,and it was delicious. It was filled to the brim, they didn't cheap out here. Two of us ordered rare and two of us ordered medium-rare. The waiter said it was Pat LaFrieda, so we kind of trusted them with the lower temperature. The burgers all came back cooked to the correct temperature. The rare was cool and red. The medium-rare was warm and red. There was no pink at all, it was red and perfect. It's nice being able to order the correct temperature. I want to come back and order the exact same thing. In a city full of food, this place was good. About average priced for what you get, maybe a little more pricey than what I liked. But the restaurant is cute and the outdoor seating is great. My one major gripe is that my friend has a gluten allergy and when we asked the waiter what would be ok for her to eat, he simply said what are you interested in. NOT HELPFUL cause everything she asked about they couldn't alter in any way (such as doing a lettuce wrap on the burger). After 5 different things that he said they couldn't do, our waiter finally pointed out the 2-3 things she could alter to eat. If someone asks about the menu when it comes to allergens, just answer instead of making the customer do all of the leg work. I was a little unsure based on other reviews and that there were several open reservations, but the interior is very nice and the restaurant wasn't busy at all in the best way. We ordered the cacio e pepe and the halibut which were both delicious! The fish was fresh and very flavorful, and the cacio e pepe was sooo tasty. The shape of these noodles is also fantastic. The first review I wrote about Left Bank was 2 years ago. I am happily writing another one to update my experience. The first time we ate here, I was a new mom and had been refused service in a previous place before happening across Left Bank, and they were extremely welcoming of us (3). We sat out side and had drinks and dessert. We have a beautiful memory of this place as we let our child have their first taste of chocolate here, since the chocolate mousse was exquisite. Today, we returned with our second child to give her the rights of passage to having her first taste to chocolate, and the experience did not disappoint. In a city where food joints are a dime a dozen, and when a good amount of businesses didn't survive COVID, I am happy to say there are reasons this place survived: food, ambiance and service. We came in for brunch, cocktails and dessert. We sat in comfort while having lunch with our little ones. The place felt welcoming. The food was pleasantly good and the chocolate mousse was as delicious as our memory served us. We recommend this place to many of our friends and they have all had pleasant experiences here. We were able to walk in on a Sunday early afternoon and get seated pretty quickly, but service went downhill from there. It took longer than expected for us to get our order taken, and there seemed to be miscommunications between our server and the kitchen because our food got delivered to another table. This place looks great from the outside. I usually walk by it and it's usually pretty busy, but today I decided to go and it wasn't very busy. I was sat with my partner, and it took quite a while for the server to approach. We ordered a calamari appetizer and a large portion of the muscles. The calamari came and was a large portion, but tasted like someone had freshly washed it with soap. The muscles came and the plate itself was huge, but every other muscle was empty and just a shell and there was NO sauce. It was hands down the strangest meal.
