We were greeted immediately once we walked in and sat down in a nice booth near the window on the left hand side facing the parking lot. Food came out quick. I ordered a cup of coffee and my girlfriend got orange juice. The coffee was decent the food came out shortly after. It was decent fluffy pancakes but the meats came overcooked and dry. This place is the classic diner experience. It looks and feels like an old-style diner. I had stuffed shells, my buddy had a Philly cheese steak sandwich. My salad was crisp and fresh. We both loved our entrees, and we split a slice of dense chocolate fudge cake. The food was nothing short of outstanding across the board. And I got such a large portion that I took 1/2 home to finish tomorrow. Service was prompt and nice (we were there during slow hours, but still). The standard Jersey diner that has looked exactly the same for the course of my entire life. It has changed names, but has remained the same. Inside has a classic feel from a different time. Service is always friendly and polite, but can be a bit slow. In this type of place, that can be expected. Prices are reasonable and portions are large. Food is standard. Not excellent, not bad, just middle-of-the road. The burger is a burger and the breakfast is a breakfast, but I've never had something that would make me crave it. I work in the area, and my colleagues and I order food from many restaurants around our workplace, from Jersey City to Secaucus. I genuinely like the burger and fries at this place and usually always order that. However, I tried to switch it up and ordered a turkey club sandwich with fries, coleslaw, and a pickle. I thought I would also receive the coleslaw and pickle, but when I called to inquire why I didn't get them, the lady who originally took my order over the phone and rang me up when I picked up answered the phone as if she was in her home. I asked who I was speaking with, and she avoided the question several times. I found it unprofessional that a business would refrain from establishing rapport with a calling customer. The lady's entire demeanor was off, as if I were bothering her. So I decided to return my food. When I arrived, she was waiting for me outside the restaurant, and her rude, unprofessional behavior continued. I could have been rude back, but I kept my cool and didn't stoop to her level. I'd rather return the food, get my money back, and never go back to this business. She said she was the manager. If that's true, it won't be long before that place goes out of business. First we were ushered in by a lovely lady holding the door for us. We were seated by a young gentleman who took our coffee order immediately. I went alone, when I said table for one I was met with strange looks which I tried to move past. But I love diners because of the amazing coffee to start off my breakfast and to my surprise...No cappuccinos! No espresso, no lattes. Just plain drip coffee. I was so disappointed had to walk right back out :( And wasn't even acknowledged on my way out just once again met with strange glares from servers and what seemed to be the host? My server was nice though for the 2 sentence interaction we had and he did apologize for them not having a full selection of coffee options. This is a typical Jersey dinner went there based on a recommendation on a Sunday around 3pm and they had both the Jets and Giants game on. Our waiter was very friendly and patient as we had questions about the menu. It was 4 of us and our food took longer than what I expected but when it did come out it was good. Stopped here for lunch after visiting a work project nearby. Seemed convenient, but all downhill from here. Parking is horrendous if you want to call it a parking lot at all. After 5-7 minutes a waitress finally comes over. I give my drink and food order. Lunch specials include soup and drink. She brings my drink and soup. I ordered cream of broccoli but she brings minestrone, apparently this soup belonged to someone else. I also heard other guests complaining about getting wrong items. So I ordered Grilled Shrimp Oriental Salad. Comes with Balsamic Vinegrette dressing. Did I hear that right? Shouldn't an oriental salad come with some type or any type of ginger dressing? This place is also close to Secaucus Station, so it's also pretty convenient if you want a bite on your way to/from the city. Service was a little slow, but the wait staff was polite and friendly. We ordered coffee, hash browns and entrees (breakfast burrito for me, Florentine omelette for my friend). Portions were sizable, as you'd expect at a traditional Jersey diner. My friend enjoyed her omelette and hash browns, but I was a little underwhelmed by the burrito. The eggs were cooked fine, but it needed black beans, salsa, sour cream, avocado, just a little more umph. The hash browns were fine, but needed a little ketchup. I never leave Yelp reviews, but Legends is a gem and true Secaucus locals' secret. First of all, the food is just GOOD. I've had everything from burgers to pancakes, eggs, salads, steak, chicken and fish entrees. Everything is freshly prepared and taste homemade but better, if you know what I mean. The fish entrees here are amazing and I don't know how many diners you can say that about - try the crab-stuffed fish or the sole. Secondly, the portions and prices are amazing - for $15 show me where else you can get a huge entree (their entrees are always enough for 2 or take home), soup, potatoes and a side of fresh vegetables. They had a very nice salad bar too before covid. So I don't care how much $$$ you have or don't have, because at the end of the day it's all about value: you could feed a family of 4 or 8 here affordably and eat well or enjoy a high-quality meal solo. The staff is so kind and welcoming and the place is spotless. So if anyone wants to be snobby and think Legends is just a boring diner in kind of a rough, trucking location, think again bc you are really missing out! It also came with your choice of eggs. And sausage, ham AND bacon. So-a very substantial meal! We chose to get all bacon, but we were given sausage that we didn't want (or eat). The pancakes were large and delicious and the French Toast looked great. My fried eggs were overcooked. My sister had scrambled eggs that looked okay. Nothing special but nothing awful, either. My boyfriend ordered a weird chicken and cheese omelet with hashbrowns and toasts. I had an orange juice, eggs benedict, and hashbrowns. The cheese and chicken omelet was so weird. Like I said, diners are very unimaginative with their recipes. This omelet was simply made of two eggs, "orange" kraft cheese, and chicken pieces. Yes, weird. And ordinary. My eggs benedict were pretty good, and the hashbrowns were crunchy (as opposed to the mushy stuff some restaurants make). Cool place. If we were living in a Mad Max style apocalypse, Legends Diner would be a great spot. Fortunately, we live in a civilization where master blaster does not run our town.....so we have to hold local diners to basic standards. Let's break it down shall we? The good: It's right next to my place of employment and aside from the food truck, is the only place you can walk to for lunch. It's cheap - they know what they are and charge accordingly. The bad: The waitresses all look and act like they just got out of rehab. If you want anything special - like no tomatoes - make sure you repeat it several hundred times because they'll somehow f*ck it up. Conclusion: The diner is very forgettable. So forgettable that sometimes I'll walk out and wonder what happened to the last 30 minutes of my life. Was I abducted by aliens or did I just come out of Legends Diner?
