Two meat plate
Megan M.

Very kind and polite service, very mindful. Food was absolutely delicious! Loved the pulled pork, the brisket was not as moist AS I PREFER. I know everyone has their preference on brisket, but it was still very tender and delicious. Bbq sauce was amazing! Ultimately, HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Thank you! It is a food truck outside of a local bar, not exactly kid friendly but we ate in the car and enjoyed it just as much. Also not a lot of drink options so b.y.o.b unless you want to drink at the bar.

Brisket sandwich, seasoned tots.

Great food, served quickly, tons of seating in the bar or outside. Brisket sandwich and seasoned tots were damn good.

I placed the call on Friday, 21 Feb 2025. His birthday is 23 Feb. I was assured the email with the gift certificate would be sent on Friday, 21 Feb. Later on that same day I received a call from the same Customer Service rep to confirm my brother's email address. She had it correct, and I was told the email was about to be sent. As of Sunday, 23 Feb, the email had not been sent. I called Customer Service at 2 pm on 23 Feb to inquire. I was told someone would call me on Monday, 24 Feb. I requested to speak to a supervisor. This year, the website did not recognize my login/ prompted to renew password but would not send the email link to do so. The 800 number will ring and play the same 30 second recorded message literally for HOURS. When I tried to place an online order as a "guest" (since my account/ login would not work), the order prompted to put an email address for the gift recipients (which i do not have); it would not progress without putting an email address in, and when I put my own email address in, it would change the gift recipient's address info to mine. I finally printed out an order form and had planned to bring it in in-person; however, I did receive a call-back after leaving a telephone message on their local line about how dysfunctional their website and 800 numbers were. I understand a computer upgrade or busy phonelines but the extent of all of this is inexcusable!

We arrived just as they opened. There was no one to greet us for the first few minutes. Finally, someone came out from the back to let us know that they were busy, which sounded strange since they had just opened, but when they explained about the air show it made sense. The music is loud but that's expected. It is a bar after all...that serves barbecue. We ordered at the bar and sat down. BWE and I shared the Chuckwagon Classic Plate, and we added 1/3 lb of brisket. My son had the same Classic Plate. We got the beans and fries as our sides. When our food was brought to us, the server didn't give us utensils. We had to ask her for them. The portions seemed small. The brisket was not hot. It was room temperature. The fries and beans were just okay. We were underwhelmed. This is Texas. Our expectations were high but we were disappointed. It could be that the order from the air show overwhelmed them and left them little strength to give attention to our order so I'll give them a little grace and give them two stars instead of one. We won't be back.

Seems like they don't really care to provide quality food. It's always cold like it was heated up from the day before, they're skimpy with the meat & it just doesn't hit the same. Even the portions have gotten WAAAY smaller. Service is still great but definitely won't be spending money on their bbq anymore. Every time we go get food for probably the last 7-10 trips, it gets worse & worse. Really disappointing because this place used to be TOP NOTCH.

I don't think that itself harms the score but certainly some upgrades to bathrooms would not hurt. The decorum likely from wallpaper to interior finishes may have remained untouched since the 60's which gives it a very rustic feel. Going to win the battle in food for certain demographics..seeing kielbasa sausage with sauerkraut and bacon I am right at home. Country fried pork, cooked cabbage, real mashed potatoes and I follow you anywhere, but realize it's not for everyone. There was a salad bar section but I was interested in other items. Some items were not really warm like the sausage, fried chicken, beef stew compared to other items like country friend pork sitting right beside them which was disappointing. Still food flavor was good and this is good ole' fashioned recipe prep. Chicken soup was very good and scalding hot. Hot peach cobbler and banana pudding for desserts were very good and would put the banana pudding in a state fair contest and confidently claim blue ribbon status prior to judging. Don't let the score fool you, I'd be back just because it's my comfort food preference and I have some tolerance but for families getting off the highway with picky eaters may keep going. Country folks and truckers coming off a long day will appreciate the down home feel.

Everything was delicious except the Brisket looked yummy but had an odd smell and after taste and a bit on the salty side and texture was off, we were kinda bummed out as usually that's one of the beat stuff it was unfortunate but we still ate some of it lol. The classic potato salad and hot pinto beans on the other. Brisket was tender and flavorful. Not dry. A good 8-8.5 points on the 10 point scale! The beans were a 8.5-9! Flavor, spice, texture were quite good. One would be surprised as how some place mess up beans. Potato salad was as good as any and exactly what one should expect. Fried okra was made to order! No soft heat lamp mush here. Flavor wise, it was also as one would expect of traditional fried okra. Mac&cheese was average flavor but good portion. Was ok. Nothing to rave on, yet no complaint. Simple/basis type so a little more pop to the recipe could be a good future tweak. Traditional onions, pickles, & jalapeños can be added to the plate if you like. Also sauce and bread available on the side counter to suit your needs. Overall, a great lil place to stop in! Didn't take a pic before starting to eat but this get the gist.
