In my case, the line moved quickly with JERRY & IZZY tag-teaming trays - tasting notes as follows: COLESLAW - Refreshing in its simplicity - crunchy, slightly sweet & snappy - exactly as my heart desires CHICHARONI MACARONI - Creamy & cheesy with cracklin crunch, touch of black pepper PULLED PORK - Buttery tender & topped with green tomatillo - I'd love to try this on one of their sandwiches with a combination of PICKLED FAVORITES (onions & spicy pickles were FIRE) PRIME BRISKET - MAIN EVENT needs no sauce, in fact could be served solo and make a meal - it is hands-down the best, most flavorful & moist brisket EVER!!! Everything was extraordinary. Very helpful staff. Funky hole in the wall venue. Pro tip: come at opening 11:00 am on Sunday morning to avoid a wait. My favorites: tritip with pico, sausage by itself, brisket in the thin and tangy BBQ sauce, elote corn, nopales, beans. But, it was all good and you won't be sorry ordering anything on the menu. The BBQ was very good here. Top of the line. Better than average. We arrived at 1 pm on a Saturday and waited approximately 20 minutes. They were only out of sausage and turkey breast. We got 1lb moist brisket and 1/2 lb rib. The brisket was very very rich. The taste was excellent and the smoke was very prevalent 8.5/10. Ribs were dry. I think out was sitting out or something 6/10. We got Mac N Cheese which had crushed Chicharróns on the top. The Mac n Chesse was very creamy. 9.6/10 The inside is small but luckily we found a seat. UPDATE: We don't have BBQ like this in El Paso...so, I have to enjoy it when I get it. On my most recent trip to SA, 2M was on my "I gotta visit..." list, and it's such a good decision. I think I order way too much food, if there is such a thing - but the leftovers didn't last long from home either. We got there early on a late Thursday morning - pretty much front of the line. That's a true tip - fellow Yelper's have said the line is out the door, get there early. Thursday mornings is a slower day. The dining area was already full. Since it was a rainy day, nobody was sitting outside. On the menu this visit was the pork plate... which comes with servings of pulled pork and pork ribs. I was in heaven... I also got the chicharroni (macaroni and topped with chicharron flakes). Liz tried the nopal, and after trying it I was thinking I should have gotten that instead. They always have creative sides. We had enough food to take home and enjoy seconds. So, if you can't take the food, try hard not to be greedy. The service was friendly and efficient, I wish I had enough stomach to try everything. We were gonna go try this place last time we were in SAT but we ended up in Pinkerton BBQ which had a long a$$ line, granted they're by the Downtown tourist area. It's only fair we try this one this time since our room is not ready yet plus it was only 20 mins from the Airport Rental car place and it was perfect timing for lunch. The place is a dive for a Michelin 2025, small seating area inside but outside is roomier. Definitely friendly service, portions are big for us as we wanted to try a little bit of everything. We ordered minimum 1/2 a lbs of Waygu TriTip, 2 sliced of Brisket & 1 Pork Rib, small Egg Salad & Pickle sides was complimentary. Everything was delicious except the Brisket looked yummy but had an odd smell and after taste and a bit on the salty side and texture was off, we were kinda bummed out as usually that's one of the beat stuff it was unfortunate but we still ate some of it lol. We finally made it to 2M Smokehouse BBQ in San Antonio and went big with the Large Family Meal: 2 lbs of brisket, 2 lbs of pork ribs, 1 lb of pulled pork, and 1 lb of pork Oaxaca sausage. Overall, the BBQ absolutely delivered. Brisket: Juicy, tender, and seasoned just right. This was the favorite for most of our group and exactly what you hope for from Texas brisket. Pork Ribs: Probably the surprise hit of the meal. They had a great peppery bark with just a hint of sweetness. Really good flavor without being overly sweet. Pulled Pork: Seasoned and sauced perfectly. Moist, flavorful, and definitely held its own against the brisket and ribs. Pork Oaxaca Sausage: Very unique and probably our second favorite meat overall. Great flavor and something a little different from the typical BBQ sausage. Sadly, they had already sold out of the turkey, so we'll have to come back to try that one! For sides, we went with the Mexican Corn, Mac & Cheese, and Beans. Rhe Mexican Corn was the unanimous favorite, which honestly surprised all of us. It was fantastic and absolutely worth ordering. The Mac & Cheese was a very close second and another side we'd definitely get again. The Beans were probably the only food letdown. They looked great, but the flavor didn't quite live up to the appearance. Compared with how flavorful everything else was, they just needed a little more punch. The staff throughout the entire experience were super friendly and helpful, especially considering how busy they were. Our only real negative was the wait. We got in line around 11:10 a.m. on a Saturday and didn't reach the carving station until about 1:40 p.m. Looking at the setup, the carving area seemed to be a major bottleneck. It's a pretty small space with room for essentially one person to slice and prepare all the meat orders. A little redesign or additional carving capacity could probably make a huge difference in getting that line moving faster. There are only about 6-8 tables inside, but there's plenty of additional covered patio seating outside. And a huge congratulations to Esaul and Grecia Ramos on their recent win as champions of Food Network's Pitmasters! Pretty cool to visit just days after they brought home the championship. Add that to 2M's MICHELIN Guide recognition and all the other accolades they've earned, and it's easy to see why people are willing to stand in line for this place. Despite the roughly 2 1/2-hour wait, the food and friendly staff made this a great first visit. The brisket deserves its reputation, the ribs surprised us, the Oaxaca sausage was excellent, and don't sleep on that Mexican corn! Congratulations again to the 2M team on the Pitmasters win. I haven't eaten at 2M Smokehouse in many years. I got there right before they opened up and there was a small line. After they opened up,I was served in about ten minutes or so. I got some fatty brisket,pork belly,one link of pork sausage and an 8oz size side of the mac & cheese. All that was a little over $40 before tip. BBQ isn't cheap,but worth it if it's good! The brisket was flavorful and tender like Texas bbq should be. The pork belly was delicious and the pork sausage was very good. The pork sausage had cheese and serrano peppers in it,but it wasn't very spicy. The mac & cheese had good flavor but was very cheesy. The people working there were very friendly and helpful. 2M Smokehouse, famous for their unique BBQ and sides caught my attention since its inception. Arrived on a Friday around lunch time and to my surprise the line was right up to the door. The place is a hole in the wall and has character very made from scratch feel and as you wait in line you study the menu and notice that once your up they fulfill your order as you place it which is standard in a traditional bbq place. I ordered the 1/2 pound of brisket, 1/2 pound of pork ribs, a pork sausage link, their special spaghetti verde and esquite corn Mexican corn style all which comes to about $60 to feed 2 people which isn't bad. The place is small inside however if you brave the summer heat there are plenty of seating outside. Let's review the FOOD, the brisket was nice and flavorful didn't need any BBQ sauce at all, juicy and easy to pull apart and also not very much fat which is plus! The pork ribs are amazing, a bit too much rub for my taste otherwise cooked to perfection! The pork sausage was packed with flavor, filled with pork of course, Oaxaca cheese, and Serrano peppers gave it a good kick. The meat complemented well with creamy, cheesy and spicy Mexican corn and the green spaghetti verde had a nice flavor to it. All in all for the price, BBQ and sides this place is by far the best BBQ I've had in San Antonio. Tried 2M Smokehouse and honestly... I don't really get the hype. The brisket was great -- and for the prices they charge, it better be. Portions were solid, and the homemade-style pickles were actually really good too. But a lot of the rest was disappointing. They have an hour wait was brutal especially when many items started falling off the menu, what's the time I was waiting on the outside The meat came out cold, and the sandwich was insanely salty to the point where it was hard to finish. The BBQ sauce was super sweet and thin, and honestly made things worse instead of better. They were also out of a ton of menu items and most of the sides. Only mac and cheese was left, and after trying it... I kind of understood why. They put pork rind dust on top, which caught me off guard since. The pulled pork had salsa verde and cilantro mixed into it. Maybe it would've been better hot, but I personally wasn't a fan of that flavor combo for BBQ. The brisket nachos sounded amazing because of the Oaxaca cheese, but it honestly felt unnecessary and kind of a crime against good brisket. Overall, it feels like they're trying really hard to be different instead of just focusing on making consistently great Texas BBQ. There are definitely better BBQ spots in San Antonio in my opinion. If you go, go right when they open so the food is fresh, hot, and they still have the full menu available. Also, the inside seating area is really small. Driving around eating BBQ on the Texas Monthly Top 50 list. Went to San Antonio Texas on a Friday and 2 M Smokehouse BBQ was our 2nd stop. We have placed an online order to make sure that we got some of their brisket. When we arrived around 12:45pm the line was short so we decided to walk in and get our order. The wait inside was short and they still had everything on the menu. When it was our turn to order we told them that we had placed an online order and they went to work putting it together. Overall, the experience was good despite the warm weather. I enjoyed the pork cheese sausage the most since it had a slight spicy kick to it, but I enjoyed the brisket too despite being on a slightly drier side and the slices are kind of thick for brisket which is a good thing. Came here on a rainy Sunday so we got our food to-go considering we love less than 10 minutes away. There weren't too many people there I'd assume because of the weather which was an added bonus. The staff were very welcoming and friendly, they moved quickly and efficiently. The food was absolutely delicious! We got the medium family meal with brisket, turkey, and pulled pork; sides were Double Macaroni, Double Corn, and coleslaw. We also got two pork sausages and a pound of ribs in the side. Everything was super flavorful, some of the best ribs I've ever had and the corn was so flavorful it was the best side in our humble opinion. This review was a long time coming. With my parents recently moving to Castroville about a year ago (time is a construct at this point), my dad was excited to show me Blu Lacy BBQ in Castroville and explained it to me as a spinoff of 2M Smokehouse in San Antonio proper. After trying it and falling in love with its original iteration, I was heartbroken to hear Blu Lacy would be rebranding and splitting off from 2M, and to get that same kick I would have to travel to 2M Smokehouse itself. In late June, the opportunity arose, and with pieces of my BBQ posse, we traveled one fine Sunday morning and waited in line at the consistently recognized and Bib Gourmand recipient, 2M Smokehouse. We arrived at just around 10:30 and luckily were the first in line. Once we stepped in line, it quickly grew to about 40 people behind us. The four of us ordered a large tray and sat down with our BBQ by 11:06 AM. It was also the first place to stamp my Texas Monthly passport, a major excitement for me. I will list everything we had with my thoughts: Brisket: Juicy, tender, melts in your mouth. Your typical craft brisket. Very impressive here. Pork Ribs: Compared to the other giant BBQ spots, these were significantly more candied, which I really enjoyed. They were definitely more unique and special. Pork Belly: I need to work pork belly into my spread more often because I'm always impressed. 2M's pork belly melts in your mouth and is quite delectable. It feels like a dessert on its own. Pork Sausage: This was definitely one of 2M's standouts in my opinion. The serrano peppers had a sharp kick, but the Oaxaca cheese was the star of the order. The link alone was only $6.50 too, so it's a steal on its own. Mexican Street Corn: A definite elevated take on their version from Blu Lacy. It's so creamy and hits the spot. Chicharoni Macaroni: Another superstar of 2M. If the pork sausage is LeBron, this mac is Steph Curry. The macaroni itself is like a perfect shell that makes Velveeta look like a G League player, and Kraft didn't even get minutes in college. The chicharrones on top bring it to a new level, giving a breadcrumb-like consistency to the macaroni. It was so fire. Pickled Nopales: I have no frame of reference for what this was supposed to taste like, but it smacked, and I'd frankly order 32oz of it to fill a mason jar and take home. Coconut Ube Cheesecake: Yam, in my cheesecake? It's more likely than you think. Tastes like the best side at the Thanksgiving table. All in all, the pitmaster was super friendly, and the staff was great. They had no shade where the line was but supplied umbrellas for the eager patrons. San Antonio doesn't play with their BBQ. I've been a handful of times, and would encourage you arrive early to get the best selection of their offerings before they sell out. They were already sold out of several items after being open an hour. I paid around $50 with a drink and before tip: Positives- Pictured is the pork belly, brisket, pork ribs, mac, and street corn. The pork belly was easily the star of the show! It had some sort of sesame sauce on it, it was heavenly. The mac and cheese was also a top contender. It had a unique flavor unlike any Mac I've ever had before, almost like earthy. It paired really well with the meal. Also the STAFF was A+! Very friendly and seemed to take pride in their work Critical- Facility could use some improvements. The parking lot has huge pot holes. I was so glad they had a small indoor dining area but it was still stuffy and not too comfortable to eat in. I get that it's a no frills place but it wouldn't hurt to invest in some small renovations. Many people ate outside but there was no shade and it was super hot that day. We got here very early to make sure we didn't have to wait long in the hot sun! We got brisket, pulled pork, all the pickles veggies, egg salad, Mac and cheese and cole slaw. It was work the wait! The food was absolutely delicious!! I had brisket, pork ribs and several sides. The ribs were larger than I ever expected so when I ordered half a pound I only got two ribs. I would definitely recommend ordering as many pounds of the ribs as possible because they were incredible tasty. The brisket was cooked well and was incredibly tender and was perfect on a sandwich and was even better on the tortillas . I was not a big fan of the brisket helper but the other sides like corn, pickled peppers. Charro beans made up for it because the sides alone had tremendous depth of flavor. All around it was a great meal, my only complaint was I wish my mouth and belly were bigger so I could eat more food !! read more

The brisket is amazing! I just had to wait an hour and 45 minutes to get it. Half the time was outside under the hot summer sun; half was inside which was hotter like a sauna. We wanted to try other food items, but they kept running out of everything the closer we got to the register. And when it was my turn to order, it took all of 90 seconds to order and pay. Not sure why the line took so long. Seems like there are so many easy ways to improve the customer experience. Like allow people to take a number and then wait in the shade. Or order online. Etc. Food is good and staff is friendly. We got the week day special of chopped brisket sandwich and beans, and then an order of the pork ribs and two drinks. Our total came out to $50 and kiddo pecked off our meals. We sat inside, they have a smaller add on with a handful of tables so if you want to eat in and not be outdoors better stake out a table. read more

1st off parking lot is jacked up. 2nd line wasnt that long but service was slow 3rd showed up at noon and multiple sides were sold out already. 4th prices for the quality of meats was absurd 5th indoor seating is very limited. Inside looks more like a mexican restaurant rather than a bbq joint. I have heard through multiple people and now Texas monthly ranking them up there. So we finally decided to spend my hard earned money. For the cost I would've expected a lot more. My brisket and ribs looked and tasted over cooked(burnt). Turkey and spicy sausage were good. Macaroni no thanks, beans solid. Eating BBQ all over the great state of Texas i would have to disagree with everyone hyping this place up.
