Our home desperately needed a new roof, as previous owners refused to do any maintenance. Rotted thru and missing shingles, moss invasion, rotten plywood from years of only having a builder cheap roof. I utilized Yelp and a few other sites to find roofers in the NW. I read dozens of reviews, went to BBB, their websites, social media. I really do my homework when looking for contractors. While I did get 5 bids, only Legit Roofing actually spent time explaining in great detail their process, products, and warranties and answered all questions we had. The others simply sent me an email with their quote. Will and Dylan were excellent. Came to my home at 6pm on a Friday evening. They spent nearly 2 hours, measuring, explaining their products and all that Legit does to ensure they provide the best roof with the best warranty in the area. 50 year warranty cannot be beat! Their customer service was heads and tails the best, and ultimately why we chose Legit. Their price was a bit higher, but their customer service, attention to details, and quality of products earned our business and this review. They came to our home about 2 weeks later to do the install. Took about 2.5 days total for our 2800 sq ft home. The crews made sure at the end of each day to clean up after themselves, which as a parent and pet owner, I really appreciated. About a week after our roof was complete, Caleb, their quality control guy came out and did a walk around with us to find out how we felt about our new roof. We had nothing bad to say. They were great from start to finish. We highly recommend them. We are considering them for gutters and siding now too, and we have no doubt that we'll be getting quality service and products when we do. read more

We had several bids but Rian seemed more knowledgeable. They were able to come during a rainy November and completed our roof in three days and it is beautiful. The bill actually came in lower than the bid. We are paying for it today when they come to our house to pick up our check. What shoddy workmanship. We are selling our house 5 years after Legit installed our roof and the inspection from the buyers revealed so many cut corners. Shingles and flashing installed incorrectly that lead to damage in just a few years. Skipped replacing fascia that was needed, didn't seal well which lead to rodents having access. First of all, they were recommended to me by a friend who not only had them replace her roof, but also recommended them to her neighbors and they all had great experiences. From the salesperson (Mark) to the general manager (Justin) to the owner (David) they kept me informed and called to update me on progress and notify me of any issues. My roof was originally put on when the home was built back in 1998. The bad wind storm from a couple of years ago really did a number on it. I had a few guys come out and give me estimates and show their product. I was sold on a Gaff roof but knew their roofs were really expensive. Several of the estimates were for Gaff materials but some were super spendy. Legit Roofing was the only company that was willing to do a "recovery ". This means that they don't strip the old roof so you can save money by not paying for that labor and the cost associated with dumping the old material. I paid around 10000 grand for mine last June and I love it. I had them put in the Gaff Ridge Line vent system and it really help keep the home cooler last summer. I also asked them to do my shed so the roofs matched. The installation was pretty fast. They took most of one day. They were also able to squeeze me in faster because of a cancellation a few days after We signed the paperwork. read more

Sales rep explained I would get a discount if they can place a sign in my yard advertising their company. The sales rep even called his boss in front of my wife and I to make sure he can offer that deal. Later after the roof was installed nobody came to put the sign. I asked about the sign and the rep on the phone said we don't have to if we don't want to. It made me question what kind of deal they were really giving us. Pretty shady in my opinion. I will say this - my ignorance is not their fault. I participated in the exchange with out doing my due diligence. My house is 1200sqft ranch style and charged me 10k while not removing the old roof. On a positive note the team they contracted out (not legit roof employees) did a great job. And the roof dose look very nice. read more

Wow. Just wow. Worst company I have *ever* dealt with. They spent more time telling me what they don't do than what they do. We don't paint. We don't do interior work. We can't fix subflooring. (He did backpeddle and would do subfloor repairs) We had them out twice and the first guy came off like a used car salesman. I contacted the company and then Ryan came out and it ended up being the same used-car salesman attitude. After they measured he has a piece of paper with two numbers on it. No specs. No nothing and he was expecting me to sign right there. I told him I can't sign right now I have other bids coming in. He says why not? Why can't you sign this right now? Again I told him I have other bids coming in. He then says how long have you been waiting for their numbers? A few days. Why couldn't they give you numbers right away like we do? At that point I told him we're done. There's no way I would ever let them touch anything on my house. How they got all these reviews I have no idea because this part of the process was absolutely ridiculous when he can't even give me the respect to consider the other offers I have coming in from other highly respected contractors. I had a guy come out to quote on replacing my picture window and sliding door. The guy showed up REEKING of stale smoke and alcohol. He took about 2 minutes before he started tossing out numbers. He then asked when I wanted to schedule. I told him I was getting quotes. He didn't look happy. I asked if he could give me the quote in writing or email or text. He said sure and left. Couldn't wait for his odiferous self to leave. I haven't heard anything from him. Also, the numbers he was tossing out where ridiculously and insultingly high. What a joke. I met this company at the Oregon Convention Center over this last weekend at the Remodel Show. I scheduled an in home appointment for today at 12 noon. I received a follow up call yesterday but while I was at my son's ortho appointment. I confirmed again but couldn't go over lengthy details as I was in an appt. I called this morning at 9 to double confirm and a female answered saying she doesn't have access to scheduling. Hmm you work there, answered the phone but don't have access to schedules and no one else is there at 9 who does? Okay. She advised me someone would be in to the office at 10 who could call and confirm. 9:45 I received a call back, great! But again this gentleman cannot confirm. Said he would call me back in less than 15 minutes to confirm. Ay-yi-yi. 11am. Still no call. I call AGAIN letting the office know I will be arriving home earlier than anticipated if someone is in the area and ready to come by. A male voice answered and says he's "sorry" but everyone is in a meeting until 12 noon and no one will be able to come to my meeting. Maybe Legit Roofing doesn't understand I work in Clackamas and it's a 40 minute drive to and from work. If I take time out of my day to honor a meeting then I expect a "legit"" company to do the same. Or at least have the courtesy to let me know the evening before,. at 9am or even at 9:45 am that there's a freaking meeting going on and no one is going to make it. Very frustrating. I can't believe this company came out and gave us an estimate for $23,000 to replace a simple roof on a 4/12 roof for a 2,300 sf home. Wow!! I work for a general contractor and know that this roof should be about $6,000 to complete. Very nice estimator that came out, measured and explained the process, but this company is a total rip off. Please people...get competitive bids and do not pay 4 times the amount. I feel bad for people who hire this company because they do not know the market pricing. Just know, current market price is about $60/ Roofing Square for Labor, $60/ Roofing Square for Architectural Shingle Roofing Materials, and $100/ Roofing Square to Remove 2 Layers of Old Roofing, or $60/ Roofing Square to Remove 1 Layer of Old Roofing. read more

I set up an appointment to have them come and give me a bid on repairing a leaky 2nd story dormer roof. Two young men arrived on time, didn't introduce themselves, had no business cards or even a pencil to make notes or take measurements. I showed them the area of concern from the patio below and they stood there with their hands in their pockets and decided that the area in question was installed improperly....well, yeah, it was leaking....This is a 2nd story roof we're talking about.... One of the men said "....well, if I had to bring all of my guys out here to do this it would be really expensive...." They went on to say that it was really too small of a job for them, that's why it would be expensive and they "really didn't do repairs and perhaps if I called a handyman he could do it for a couple of hundred dollars....." I guess I look poor and don't have any money. I mentioned that their website said they do repairs and was told "...yeah, I don't know why they say that..." They didn't go on the roof, measure anything or even offer to give me a bid....they didn't want to be bothered. They clearly only wanted the job if I wanted to have the entire roof replaced. When I made the appointment, they should have said they don't do repairs or smaller projects rather than wasting my time....I would have called someone else. I have a leak and need my roof repaired and am willing to pay good money to have it done. Clearly I will never consider this company for anything based on their lack of professionalism and non-existent customer service. And I will tell all my friends..... read more

Trying to sell my home 8 months after having Legit replace my roof and what a mess. I thought that paying for the most expensive would mean something but got told by two inspectors that I got ripped off. They also told me that a few years ago no one in this town had ever heard of them. Then I need the warrenty and city permits and guess what? Legit never filed for permits and did the job ILLEGALLY. Also, they don't have a warrenty themselves. Just the shingle manufactures warranty. I should have saved four thousand dollars and used a honorable company with integrity. I forgot to mention I have to pay someone else to fix some flashing and rotted wood they did incorrectly. read more

I've had two experiences with Legit. The first was decent, though expensive. My roof and part of my eaves were replaced. They did do a decent job. The edge of the roofing, just above the gutters, looks uneven, but the neighbors say the roof looks great so I won't worry. (semi flat roof) The second job, a repair of a deck's roof, did not happen. The reason was that for three consecutive times the roofers didn't show up and no call was sent to say why. Three times. I had to call the company each time to ask what was going on. First time I was told they'd be out two weeks later. Second time I was told the foreman had been sick and it was going to rain that day. And on third time the excuse was that an unexpected meeting came up. None of these times did anyone from the business call me to tell me they couldn't make it! Yes, my 2nd project was small, but just like you, reader, I still had obligations elsewhere that I had to delay because of the appts. made with this company. I don't have time for no-shows. Do you? Similar non-updates/no shows occurred while I was waiting for the roof and eaves to be done. I had put a $10,000 deposit down on a $36,000 project. I was anxious to get the job done as the roof had rot in it so I didn't complain about the lack of schedule updates. Some of the delays were for rain so one could guess no one was going to arrive. Still, an update is common curtesy. As noted above, they did complete the roof. They say they will reimburse me my deposit. I hope there's no need to call again and find out where it is. read more

I then showed them offers from competitors and only then were they were willing to reduce their price. Looking at other reviews, multiple people seem to be saying the same thing. 1st day, one man, shows up late, now second day after 10am and still nobody here to finsh. Not professional. Will update if they ever show up and finish. Finally showed at 10:30am. Did not clean up excess debrise on ground, found multiple nails, I stepped on one, and I have dogs, now I am having to go out in the rain with a magnet to make sure my dogs or grandkids do not get hurt on one. Also during this whole process they made it sound like a legitimate company with their own employees only to find out that the jobs are subcontracted out. Not a good experience at all. read more

As a business owner who is also in the construction trades I really wanted to make sure I was selecting the right company to put a new roof on my home. My neighbors had a roof installed as I was getting quotes so after two other quotes I called Legit roofing. The person who answered the phone was really good, if she ever leaves I would give her a job in a heartbeat! The sales presentation was so-so, but as a sales manager i am very picky. I did like that they provided options on underlayment discussed ventilation and airflow and the warranty was so much better than the others. A friend who used to work at a roofing supply company told me GAF was a great product and thats what they sold. I opted for the Tigerpaw underlayment which appeared a lot better than the paper everybody else used. I just sided another house I own and used a similar product instead of tyvek for siding. Justin ran the project and had continual follow up as to when the project was starting and how it was progressing. He answered any questions and kept me up to date since we did not live at the home. When the process was done the owner sent an e-mail thanking us for our business and we were very happy with the process. They were not the cheapest, but they had a better warranty, better product, great process, were the only ones that sat down and explained how a new roof goes on and what to look for and I felt they were the best value since I plan on keeping this house as a rental for many years to come. read more

We needed a complete replacement roof. Our ventilation was so bad once the roof was torn off all of the plywood needed to be replaced. Legit was so great to work with. They did a fantastic job and quick, in the heat. The cleanup was amazing considering all of the plywood was thrown into a pile on the front lawn. The trailer was in the street so it had to be moved from the lawn to the trailer and handled multiple times.. No debris, nails, etc left around. Roof looks fantastic and ridgeline vent is so awesome. Got a siding estimate from Stacie at Legit Roofing over a year ago. Well, not exactly an estimate, but a lengthy visit with the promise of an estimate. The estimate never came. I tried calling her and the office to follow up but never received an estimate or reason why they didn't want the business. Unfortunately this is all too common with the contractor trades in the PDX area for some reason. Then several months later (after getting the siding done by another contractor) I received a sales call asking if I needed siding or a roof. I said no and explained what happened. Then asked politely (OK, it was strained) to be taken off their list. I received another call about 6 months later, again a sales call. That's what prompted me to write the review. These people are not very organized. Siding and roofing requires attention to detail and "Legit" doesn't provide that as far as I can tell. It may be unfair to apply this to the whole company but sales is the only part I was allowed to see. In my experience, the sales department is usually the most polished and accommodating while operations are generally less so. read more

This may come across as overly exuberant, but I cannot say enough great things about our experience with this roofing company. A Legit sales rep knocked on our door, offering estimates in our neighborhood. We did actually need a new roof, and after getting several estimates, we signed a contract with a different company (thinking we were getting a bargain). We realized almost immediately that the added costs and complications were ramping up, and would likely continue to do so. We broke that contract and signed with Legit instead. From that time on, we've only been impressed. Stacie (the rep who handled our contract), and Justin (the project coordinator) were professional, honest, communicative and on top of every step of the process. Our 3 layer tear-off turned out to be a 4 layer, with complications related to the fascia, gutters and some rotted substrate. All of these problems were dealt with swiftly, with great attention to the aesthetic of our period PDX home, and with minimal additional cost. They finished the job (that's +/- 16,000 pounds of roofing gone and replaced) in two days! Amazing! Staff worked crazy-hard, were thoughtful, and our property was left cleaner than when they'd started. We've dealt with many contractors over the years (4 homes) and this company and their crew really ranks up at the top of the list. We would recommend Legit to anyone, without hesitation. read more

First off, I live in a rental and thus had no say over the days/times/choice of company for redoing the roof. They were aware it was a rental house however, and basically showed zero respect for the occupants. They helped themselves to our lawn furniture, yard items, and electrical - which would have been absolutely fine had they simply ASKED, but coming home and finding your garden bed area rearranged, things plugged into your porch light and your yard furniture moved to accommodate lunch time is not okay. Someone from the three separate units has been home at one point or another for the entire process, so there would have ALWAYS been someone to ask. While working on the roof, they were pitching things carelessly into the yard and not only came about 6 inches from hitting my roommate in the head with a roofing shingle but also damaged 4 plants in my garden and totally destroyed one, not to mention the plants along the house that were damaged. They were also supposed to start a couple weekends ago, showed up for a couple of hours and disappeared. This has been a stop and go project which has been incredibly inconvenient for all the tenants. They were very disrespectful, and we'll be complaining to the management company so they're aware how awful Legit Roofing's behavior was during this whole process. read more

I spoke with David Hazelton at Legit Roofing a week ago and scheduled a service call for his crew to come to my house and remove moss and clean gutters on my roof. He said he'd send a couple of guys out and charge me $150 for the first hour and $70 for each hour after that. I did find him on craigslist but he is license and insured, so I decided to go with him. He confirmed with me on Thursday that he would they would be at my house around 8am on Saturday. At 830am I called and texted with no response. I finally got ahold of him a little after 9, where he stated that a guy was on his way. I asked him what the ETA was and he called me. I asked him if he was just sending 1 guy or two or more? He replied "what does it matter"? I said "because I'm paying the rates for more than one person, otherwise it will be a lot more expensive". His reply was "it's not even worth it...CLICK" and hung up the phone on me. I texted him stating I was going to place a negative review on the internet and craigslist and BBB for being such a jerk to me and hanging up on me and just simply BAD business practices. His response was simply "fine...go ahead and do it because it won't even put a dent on my business". So that is what I'm doing. At the end of the day, he cancelled on me...hung up on me...and didn't care if he got negative reviews. Please do not use Legit Roofing in Vancouver, WA. read more

HUGE waste of time. It took them 3 days to return our first email. And they did by calling us. That was on Friday of last week. Rick said he'd be by on Tuesday to give us an estimate. And that he'd call us Tuesday morning to give us an approximate time. I waited home all day and Rick never showed up. And he never emailed or texted or called. Lots of things I could have been doing but instead I waited. ALL DAY! I see other good reviews but that was not my experience. I understand that things come up that can cause delays. I would definitely avoid "Legit Roofing." Not only did they try to talk up the costs and their "superior" training and materials etc. they used high pressure and questionable sales tactics. They asked me how much I thought a new roof would cost, for a house this size I said it would be $9k to $12k (based on experience and research), my wife walked in the room and they asked her. She said "I don't know maybe $20k." So they started their bid at $18,750! I mean really! The three other bids I got were all in the mid-$10k range. I could go on about their sales tactics (I asked twice for them to "skip to the end") but even when they offered a "break" (through contractual agreement to positively advertise for them) it was ~$5k higher than the 3 other bids. I told them their bid was too high, they said they were going to talk to their boss... when the called and said they had good news that the boss lowered the price but I had to hurry before all their slots filled up... the bid ended up being higher! I told them this, they said they would get back to me. I followed up twice just to close the loop. They ignored me after that. I would recommend you stay clear from them. Even the name of their business "Legit" sounds fishy. read more

We had the pleasure of working with all members of Legit Exteriors from estimators to management for much of 2018 as we did a total home exterior remodel. Our nearly 5300 sq. foot 3-story with 15 ft. crawl space home is situated on sloped terrain at higher elevation and presented many challenges in access, weather and design. The professionals at Legit recognized this from the first site visit and spent time working with us to come up with plans that would address the areas that we wanted and needed to fix with our home within a budget that we could afford. We interviewed several companies for this project, but we were thoroughly impressed with the level of detail and inspection that Legit provided when their consultants came out and met with us. We worked with Legit on redesigning the look of our home with new siding, gutters and roofing materials to transform our house from a hodgepodge Victorian with vinyl siding to a mountain lodge with Hardie products. EVERYONE that worked on our project was professional and courteous. Our jobsite was kept clean throughout the project and everyone on the site seemed like they took ownership of the project and wanted to be a part of the transformation. It made it feel like we were all part of the same team working together to get it done. Even when there were little things that didn't go as planned or hiccups on the project, we found that the issues were resolved with communication and service, both by Legit and its suppliers and subcontractors. I don't trust them. I found them on line while looking for someone to remove the moss from my roof. I filed out the online form saying it was a shingle roof and only 10 years old. When the guy called me back, he was totally trying to sell me a roof "we'll look around and do a full inspection, you probably need a new roof." I said I don't need a new roof, it's only 10 years old and I was told they were 25 year shingles "WHO TOLD YOU THAT?" he said. Really? Everyone! Anyway I did make an appointment for an "Inspection" so they would give me an estimate for the Moss removal. The inspector came on time and was very nice. He said he was sent to do an "inspection of my roof" and he was confused because the roof was only 10 years old. He did do the inspection and told me the roof is fine (surprised?), he said he would turn over the information to get me an estimate on the moss removal. Now 5 days later, I have no estimate. They are in the business of selling roofs, not moss removal even though their website says so. They may be good at roofs, but I would NOT hire without a second opinion and I wouldn't hire them for moss removal. read more
