Blackened fresh ahi with coconut rice and broccolini

We were pleasantly surprised at our dinner experience here at the Mauna Makai in the Nanea Westin Vacation Resort. The service was amazing and the open air ambience was very nice. We wanted a lighter meal so we ordered the blackened local ahi and the local style island fish which was a grilled swordfish with a citrus soy sauce. Both were cooked perfectly and were delicious! We selected this restaurant since we did not feel like driving or taking the shuttle to Whalers Village and thought to try a restaurant within the Westin Resorts. This in my opinion is one of the better hotel options for dinner as we really enjoyed our meals and the ambience.

Outdoor dining area has ocean view, great atmosphere. Food is delicious and has reasonable size. Service great.

This is the best restaurant within the Westin Kaanapali properties. We had a great server and enjoyed everything we ordered. Two apps and two entrees, all delicious. Higher quality and better menu than the other restaurants which are all beach/poolside basic foods like wings, nachos, burgers, etc.

My wife and I had breakfast here, and it was excellent. She ordered the breakfast sandwich, which looked amazing, while I had the farmhouse omelet, cooked to perfection. The service was friendly but a bit slow, so I wouldn't recommend coming here if you're in a hurry. However, the view is beautiful, and since we had no set plans for the day, we didn't mind the wait. Overall, it was a great experience. The following morning, we waited an hour in line for the Gazebo, but aside from the scenic views, we found it underwhelming. While the portions were generous, the food itself was fairly standard diner fare. Surprisingly, we both enjoyed our breakfast at Nanea more. Having stayed at two other Westin resorts in Kaanapali, we can confidently say that the food and drinks here have been the best so far.

Currently opened for breakfast only between 7a-11am Choice of breakfast buffet $27 or a la carte menu. We canvassed the buffet and decided on a la carte. Hubby & daughter had the loco moco. I had the Hawaiian sweet bread French toast that was topped with fresh blueberries and strawberries. The restaurant is opened air. Great views of the resort looking out to the water. You can whale watch from your table. On our last morning we ate breakfast here again. Same menu choices except hubby had eggs with toast, potatoes, and bacon. This time I got lilikoi butter with my French toast as described versus cube butter previously. A convenient place to start off your day. Located at the Westin Nanea resort.

Note that this is a review for a New Year's Eve dinner with my family. I booked it last minute for our trip, and I didn't really expect much for a resort restaurant. But hey, it was right next door to where we were staying, and being able to walk "home" after a dinner with drinks is all we really wanted. Food was better than expected, service was friendly, and you'll probably have a nice view of the pool and the sea beyond it. My 12 year old was torn between ordering his usual lemodade or a virgin piña colada, so I suggested the latter, but unfortunately he didn't like it. Our server graciously replaced it with a mango smoothie, even though I was prepared to just pay for the second drink!

I ordered the Thai Coconut Curry with Marlin. The fresh, flaky marlin pairs beautifully with the creamy yellow coconut curry, creating a delightful balance of flavors. The dish is expertly prepared with jasmine rice and tender vegetables and just the right amount of spice. The ambiance of the restaurant further enhances the dining experience with a beautiful view of the pool and ocean. James was my server and was very polite, friendly and helpful. Great hospitality and great meal

Lovely atmosphere with beautiful views of the resort, beach and sunset! The menu is small but each item we got was absolutely delicious! Service was quick and friendly. :-)

If you're looking for a refreshing breakfast or snack after the beach, their açaí bowls are some of the best on the island. We tried two different bowls, and both were beautifully presented and loaded with fresh fruit. The açaí was perfectly blended and topped with sweet papaya, raspberries, toasted coconut, and a creamy scoop of frozen yogurt. The other bowl was topped with fresh bananas, strawberries, and blueberries, little bit of honey to add some sweetness, making it light and refreshing. Everything was made fresh, the portions were generous, and the presentation was appreciated--even decorated with fresh orchid flowers. One of the best parts is that you can customize your bowl exactly how you like it. They also offer flavorful coffee drinks that pair perfectly with breakfast.
