I might have just found my new favorite egg tart spot. I'd been hearing about them a lot on social media. They're a popular brand from Shanghai that finally opened up a location close to me. First off, no more round egg tarts for me. It's all about the rectangular ones now! I'm completely obsessed with this. This place can be a bit hard to find. It's located inside a plaza you have to park outside of before walking in. If you park in the back there doesn't seem to be an entrance so you might have to walk around. The staff were super nice and helpful! They accomodated my requests and were very friendly, offering me a scratcher with a chance to win some prizes, including a Labubu keychain. The Amber Ceylon Milk Tea wasn't the best drink I ever had but it was very smooth. It kind of reminded me of soy milk to be honest. The Butter Caramel Egg Custard Tarts though were amazing. They were super crispy, smooth, buttery, while at the same time not being too sweet. They also had some other pastries too that I would love to try as well. Crazy that there's a "bakery" opened until 10 PM. But to be honest, by that time, it's more of a boba and drink place and whatever baked goods leftover are what's leftover. I came here with my friends on a Tuesday evening at around 8 PM. At that point they only had their book tiramisu cakes (very cute, not too big, and different in terms of aesthetic presentation) and their egg tarts. Whatever other baked goods that were on their menu that I saw on Yelp were not available at that time. Darn! You can either order in person or at their kiosk at the side. They take Toast Tab and I'm sure they used to be a different business as I already had points here despite it being my first time. Before, this location was a hamster themed boba place, a "tea room" with traditional hot teas and pastries, a HEEKCA (don't remember how it's spelled), and much more. Unfortunately, I feel like if you're not a major restaurant or Hide Out, this plaza is cursed. I got their Jasmine-Infused Lemon Tea, medium sized, ice shaken (less ice), and lemon not packed separately. It just tastes like standard lemon tea, barely any Jasmine flavor. Just ok for my drink the next day, at the very least it wasn't bitter from the lemon peel. It seems like, at least based on the Yelp pictures and their Toast Tab and Fantuan, none of the other super cute, unique looking pastries are available at this location yet, and nothing near the main collaborations that their main franchise has yet either. We came here for pastries, so god damn, I gotta have a pastry! I got their butter caramel egg custard tart. The caramel comes from the sauce that they drizzle on top and the egg custard part isn't too eggy. Reminds me more of the whipped, more delicate center of a Danish than the standard egg tart that I'm used to. Pretty good though! Aesthetically, their Dalmation dog mascot is really cute and I love the art of him all over their packaging, menu, and even the little wipes they give out. Much better than the crowded text and black and white minimalist logo that they have (feel like this is influenced by the more recently trendy boba places). It's a small space inside, but they did their best to decorate it with fake breads and baguettes. There's seating outside at the very least though. I came right when they opened and first thing upon coming in, the sweet aroma of the bakery greets you. It seems their bestseller is the butter caramel tart. I also wanted to try the tiramisu tart but it wouldn't be ready for another 30 minutes so I just ended up getting the egg tart only. Each is individually packed in a really nice bag and they provide gloves as well for eating. The tart was still warm, definitely fresh baked. The crust is flaky and the filling is smooth and creamy (the egg taste is very subtle). Even though it has caramel drizzled, it's surprisingly not too sweet. Very good to pair with coffee or tea. We really love their orange green tea, and the flavor is always on point. However, we have yet to encounter a single employee who seems interested in providing decent service. On our last visit, they got my drink order wrong because they simply assumed a different version of the drink. When I let them know it was not what I ordered, the employee told me it was the "slushee version," which I never asked for, and then followed up with, "So you want me to make you a new one?" For drinks, the jasmine bouquet tea is their most popular with a really nice balance of fruity and aromatic while not being too sweet ;) I can confirm the hand-mashed taro coconut tastes as good as it sounds, and you gotta add their special milk mochi topping in there.
