Unfortunately this review is aimed at management. The restaurant doesn't staff enough employees to effectively serve the customers. The restaurant was busy and they just had 3 servers working the floor/bartending. The kabobs were over cooked and the service was horrible due to being understaffed. If this was my first time eating at this location... I would never go back. So, management please have ENOUGH servers to provide excellent service always. read more

Ever since the previous tenant--the upscale bar City Cafe--closed, so many of us in Azusa were hoping something would replace it. Unfortunately, this is not it. The food at Lemon Zest is good, but there are a lot of good Mediterranean cafes in the area. What makes this space unique is its beautiful full bar, which is completely neglected. They've been open for three months, but they still don't have a cocktail menu despite the fact that the bar takes up half of the restaurant. They only make cocktails "by request" and the ones I've requested--standard martinis or negronis--have been abject failures. Why did Lemon Zest take this space if they have no interest in running a bar? It's a missed opportunity for our city. read more

Met a friend here today for lunch. Very nice atmosphere. Had to use the bathroom as soon as I arrived. It was spotless! Very small place with only a few tables. Bar taking up half the space with no patrons. Apparently, it's the same menu and prices no matter what time of day you come. The price for a chicken gyro without any sides was $17! I couldn't find the chicken in the chicken gyro. It was full of yogurt sauce and vegetables. Nice presentation but no chicken. Fries or salad on the side was an extra $4. I got fries. They were hot fresh and tasty. Drank only water. The server was a very sweet Russian/Ukrainian girl. She was efficient and professional. Only one server which was fine because the place was not busy. Probably because of the prices! Don't feel as though I got my money's worth but the fact that the place was spotless and tastefully decorated was a welcome change from the filthy restaurants I've seen lately. They even had linen napkins. I love linen napkins. May go back and try something else. The menu has many different variations of middle eastern/Greek fare. One thing that really surprised me was the vulgar background music. Nasty rap with disgusting sexual overtones and the lyrics were being fed across a teleprompter so you could read them. Very distasteful and disturbing. Not something that children should hear at all! This is something the owners should be aware of and consider changing! So i came here with some co workers of mine today and i was seriously disappointed on the service the girl that was helping us with the tattoos on her face made my experience here terrible. She was to busy standing over in the corner starring into space and didn't even bother to help us. Took forever to get us drinks and even refills was rude and lacked any charisma. Why is everyone so blind to how much they are paying for food lol?? This place is ok at best, and insanely overpriced!! They are by far the most expensive mediterranean casual restaurant in a very large area. I can list many other places locally, that have way better food and far better prices. People need to wake up and open your damn eyes! Stop over paying for crappy food that isn't worth what you're being charged. The longer morons keep paying, they'll keep charging it. So do yourself and everyone else the favor and stop accepting getting ripped off, cause opposed to popular belief. It's not the normal, there's no supply chain problems and letting restaurants service TO GO orders before in person orders is not the best way to remain successful in the long-term. Best Mediterranean in SGV! The meats are juicy and fresh, (not frozen overpriced old meats that the other local places are now feeding us). The lamb kebab especially, and the lule kebab were delicious and perfectly cooked. The salads were fresh and tasty. The sheraze salad complemented our Greek fries perfectly. The portions were very generous for entreees. The sides were great, especially roasted tomato and hot pepper, and the tzatziki was the best recipe. The place itself is clean and appealing; there is a full bar (including tasty lemony specialty cocktails). Place was extremely understaffed, but our server wore at least 4 hats and managed to deliver great service to us. We probably would have ordered more drinks if place had been better staffed, and we had been approached and asked a bit more. I hope this place does a bit more to lure customers in, so that it survives and is able to maintain the great quality of their food. Maybe a large sign outside announcing happy hour specials would be nice and catchy, because the outside is not too inviting. read more

Tried this place with friends the other night. I'm not the biggest Mediterranean food fan, but the fare was excellent. All 4 of us had something different and everyone was quite happy. The hummus was the best my wife said she'd ever had. They just opened so they haven't found their rhythm yet, our drinks arrived with the main course, but were excellent regardless.
