First off, it's always alarming when you hear about a new Thai food joint in the Quad Cities. For a community that is filled with blood thirsty gangs and family money laundering schemes disguised as Mexican cuisine, Lemongrass stands out as a unique option for the local palette. Now, first off, don't let the name mislead you. This is the only restaurant I have ever attended that literally does not have a SINGLE lemon in stock. Super hypocritical when you consider the restaurant name. I asked for a water with lemon, per my usual restaurant choice, only to be asked if lime is ok instead. Are you for real? Someone needs to change the name of this place to Limegrass or just straight up "Grass: The Restaurant". Now on to the food. Looking at their menu, it is slim but the options are diverse. I ended up ordering the fried chicken which, I will admit, is my own fault since this would probably be the last thing to get at a Thai restaurant. Then again, don't put "Specialty Item" next to the title of it if it tastes like cardboard. 80% of the two pieces of fried chicken were bone and unchewable tendons. Went to Le Mon King first....What is about that place and frozen pipes necessitating closure tonight? I swear that happened last year on the same date! So I saw the reviews for this place and tried it. What a surprise, all the reviews are spot on. Fantastic food! I had the pumpkin curry with shrimp and a Blackberry Mojito. I came for dinner tonight and really liked it. I sat at the bar and was loving how much cleaning and organizing the staff was constantly doing. Everything was really clean and maintained wonderfully, I really liked that. I ordered veggie soup minus tofu and shrimp wontons. The soup was delicious. It wasn't too salty and had tons of veggies. The sauce for the wontons was also very tasty. Service was wonderful, prices were really cheap, I will def be back next time I'm in the area. read more

I hate to give one of my favorite places a bad review however, it's been 3 years since I've been here. We drove from Chicago specifically to have the Tom Yum soup and uniquely infused Sangria, which the owner recommended the very first time we visited. They no longer have Tom Yum soup, it's now Lemongrass and tastes nothing like it did before. Even the Sangria was nothing special. Not sure what happened to this spot! read more

I was in town visiting for work and I had bookmarked this restaurant previously before flying in. The first time around the kitchen was already closing up at around 8:45 PM, so I couldn't order take out. The subsequent times I ordered chicken pad thai (take out), poor man's noodle with beef, lunch bento box with pad kee mao, and finally the steak luc lac (take out). The staff is very friendly and checks up with you often. All the noodle dishes are executed well and the portion size is good. I enjoyed all the food I ordered and I would definitely come here again multiple times if I come to the area again. read more

I was looking for a place to eat with some flavor after having stereotypical fried midwestern food for the last few weeks on the road. Enter Lemongrass Cafe. In charming Moline, aka the Illinois side of the Quad Cities, the Cafe is fairly easy to get to. You must find street parking but it wasn't too hard in the quaint downtown. Once you enter the restaurant -- I could see why it had such great reviews -- it was packed during lunch hour. The ambience was so cute and the staff very friendly, it made me sad that I had to take my order of Pad Thai to-go and eat in the glory of my car. As usual I got the Veggie Pad Thai. I was excited to see that there was plenty of vegetables in the dish (though oddly so, a lot of celery). The noodles themselves were well cooked and drenched in a flavorful sweet and tangy tamarind sauce. I was a bit disappointed though because the dish lacked any spice. I wasn't given an option to choose a spice level when I called in to order and the dish had no kick what-so-ever -- so if spice is what you were looking for like me I suggest you ask if they could up the spice level. Yes yes yes! I'm craving this now while I'm writing this! This is such a cute restaurant in the small quaint downtown area. Very contemporary on the inside, super cute! The people who work here are extremely nice. I am obsessed with the Buddah Rolls. They taste amazing and the dipping sauce was the icing on the cake. I ordered the Lemongrass, which was extremely rich in flavor. The steak was a bit dry but the sauce made up for that. I am beyond impressed with the food and the flavors. Wow. I wanted to have a nice dinner in the QC with my husband and Lemongrass definitely did not disappoint. Coming from Chicago, we found the service, selection, prices, and meals to be fantastic. We arrived at 5:45 and thought seating would be a sinch. Not the case. There happened to be a ton of things going on in the city-- symphony, tree lighting, etc etc. We had to wait about 25 minutes for a table because people were just casually sitting around. I'd say there are about 12 tables in the whole joint. But, assuming we might be in a hurry (we were), a waitress came over and asked if we'd like to see a menu and possibly order so that when our table is available, we could receive our food sooner. GREAT! Love the service. She could've disregarded because they were so busy... but she didn't. We ordered 4 items: 1. Bowl of lemongrass chicken soup (incredible) 2. House salad with peanut dressing (good. Tried because of yelp review how it was someone's most favorite ever. It was good, but not the greatest ever.) 3. Pad Thai with chicken (good) 4. Pad KeeMao (incredible) No drinks, but we ordered all that for $27. The portions were quite large and we were STUFFED when we left that place. It was so good that we couldn't stop eating. As you can tell, we were impressed. Great all around! Would absolutely return and so happy about previous yelpers giving us the idea to head here for dinner. I eat dinner here pretty regularly with a friend of mine & I am IN LOVE with their menu! I can eat almost every item (except 2) without substitutes or alterations. I have a dairy allergy - so it's difficult, if not impossible, for me to eat out at a lot of local places. I can't eat most processed foods & frozen/prepackaged stuff commonly has dairy. There is NOTHING frozen or packaged @ Lemongrass! My friend & I split different appetizers. The Wor Won Ton soup is easily enough for 2-3 meals & the cocktails are well done. Stayed the night in Moline on the way home from a college visit in Grinnell. We sought out a really good restaurant in Moline when we picked Lemongrass. This place serves up a beautiful smorgasbord of pan-Asian dishes: Thai, Vietnamese, Korean, and even a few Japanese dishes were represented. This is clearly a popular restaurant...it was packed late on a Tuesday night. It has a nice trendy atmosphere typical of Asian fusion restaurants and the waitresses were very nice. I had the tangerine chicken, which was a solid choice. The sauce packed a lot of flavor without being globby or overly thick, and the breading wasn't too thick on the chicken for the most part. It probably wasn't the most authentic or enticing thing, but I liked it. My mom had the ga ree gai, a cumin-y curry of potatoes, chicken, and carrots. It was pretty good. The curry had a nice warming flavor. I wish, however, that there was a way for it to soak more into the potatoes. My dad had the spicy, brothy Sukothai noodles. The broth was pretty intense, but had a lot of good flavors. It came with all sorts of goodies on top, including pork cracklins. It tasted good, but was a little too spicy for me. The portion sizes were HUGE! I was so full when we left...probably shouldn't have eaten all that tangerine chicken and rice PLUS my mom's rice. Overall, this was a pretty good spot! Great food, rockin' vibe. The reservation and checkin process is a little strange as they have a back and front door and you check into a server station in the middle of the restaurant. They don't take names for walk-ins, you have to wait by the front or back door and remember who walked in first when they come back to tell you a table is ready. The buddha hand basil martini was perfectly balanced - could have downed three of those in minutes. The beef larb was spicy and tasty but a little drier than I expected. It was served with sticky rice which didn't work well since there was virtually no sauce in the dish. The pork belly gra pow had crispy slices of pork belly on top of a basil like sauce with onion, carrots and peppers that was a tad thicker than I've ever noticed for a Thai dish - but in a good way - as it coated the rice better than the thin sauces do. The only complaint was that the sauce was slightly salty. If we are ever back in Moline we will definitely return. read more

Pretty tasty Thai food in Moline...surprisingly good actually! We came here for lunch while we were visiting from out of town. Thanks to all the other Yelpers like yourself, we were seeing it recommended and decided to give it a shot! I always order Pad Kee Mao ($9.95 Lunch): This was a good version of this dish, and packed a punch! Lots of places are afraid to make it spicy when requested, but this was wonderful and was full of spice! The bento box setup for lunch is a great value too, with all this food for a $10 bill! Take a look at the pics...it comes with a soup, spring roll, kim chi, and fruit :) Also tried the Crispy Duck ($14.95): Fried Duck, Spicy Basil Sauce, and Veggies. This was interesting...never really ate duck fried up like this on the bone. It had a good flavor though...Just not sure if I would order this again. Lastly, the Thai Tea ($2.50) had too much cream...too sweet. Maybe ask for a stronger ratio? It was a little disappointing considering the food was all pretty good. Used to be my favorite pad thai place (also only pad thai place i've tried since moving here, i'm sure there are other great ones) before I experienced the terrible customer service. I placed an online pickup order asking for the peanuts on the pad thai to be on the side and also asked if they could make it a little spicy in the comments. My fiancé picked up the food and brought it home to find that the peanuts were not on the side (but we ignored it) and the food was UNBEARABLY spicy. I absolutely love spicy food and make all my food spicy. I tried to eat it and realized I couldn't so we drove back and explained the situation. The lady argued with us saying that she used extra hot sauce on it and we explained we asked for a little spicy and she basically laughed in our face saying it's what we asked for. Then we explained the peanuts were not on the side and she told us we need to be more clear with our directions next time and they will not remake the food in the future. I found our interaction to be very rude. We will be finding a new pad thai place. read more

This place is fantastic! We just moved here from Phoenix, AZ and have been trying to find great places to dine who can do spicy and this is it. Their staff is very attentive and coming by just enough to keep you happy without interrupting. The food did not take long to arrive at our table and each dish was a hit. We ordered the Tangerine Chicken, Teriyaki Chicken, Old School Pad Thai and the Thai Dirty Rice. Each dish was flavorful and the chicken was not dry, it was cooked very well. They do spicy very well and I would say spot on when choosing medium, hot, etc. The rice dish had so much flavor and was parallel to a dish we had in NYC at Pure and have been searching for since. I also have to note the water... if it's not bottled water they have an impeccable filtration system. We will be back again. read more

I could not recommend this place enough!! Definitely in my top 3 QC restaurants. EVERYTHING is presented beautifully and prepared expertly. The ingridents are fresh and their dishes are consistent. Service is top notch, friendly and attentive. I've tried damn near everything on the menu and everything is delicious. You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. It would be fair to call myself a regular at this establishment. I come here frequently for lunch with coworkers, lunch on the weekends with my girlfriend and dinners with the family. I have experimented with the menu thoroughly. Some of my favorites include: General Tso Chicken (I know what you're thinking, and it is not at all what you are expecting!!!) Panang Curry Pad KeeMao (Bento) Singapore Noodles Steak Luc Lac Pho Crab Cheese Wontons Bentos are a great value for lunch. They also offer a monthly special that offers tastes from different regions. I have tried 3 so far and they have all been amazing. The best thing about Lemongrass is the flavor (particularly sauces). As mentioned above the General chicken is not at all what you are expecting and the sauce is unlike anything I've ever had before, DELICIOUS. Service is always with a smile and very attentive.
