Want to share an experience. We walked in at 7:25 on a weekday. Closing was 8:00 We were seated and waited. And waited 20 minutes. Waitress never got close to our table. Since she obviously wasn't coming,we got up and left. Why put us through that? If they had stopped serving, we never should have been seated. The girl at the desk told the waitress she couldn't wait to get home. We gave our money to Los Agaves instead. I guess, never go in the last hour before closing. read more

Slowest service ever. I tried to place an order over the phone and they never answered, when I came in store to place an order they let the phone ring the entire time I was waiting and nobody ever picked it up- when they had plenty of opportunities to do so. The man who processed two payments behind the counter was not putting the cards in the machine correctly (putting the non chip side in the card reader) when two people tried to direct him he insisted he should just type all the numbers into the machine (which took forever). This restaurant has always been our go to for holidays and meeting friends for dinner. Over the years it has been renovated once or twice, but is always clean and has great service. We met at Miss Mimi's for a friends meal. There were eight of us. The service was good. Their drinks were good and refilled when they needed it. My husband had the meatloaf dinner and added a side salad of spinach salad. We cannot go to Miss Mimi's without getting a spinach salad side. All of their salads are very good. I just wish they would use the same Good lettuce for the garlic salad. My friends garlic salad just had shredded iceberg, lettuce and croutons baby Parmesan cheese and delicious garlic dressing. It would be nice if the lettuce was a little better than iceberg. Everyone was happy with their dinner. Everyone commented how good it tasted and how perfectly it was cooked. Nice waitress and it looks much better inside. The table was a bit sticky not from mess but from the lacquer of the wood and I didn't like not having something to set my forks and knife on. Some nice place mats or a utensil serviette might be a good idea in the future. The booths are nice and roomy. We went expecting a nice bread basket, what we received was one miniature hard ciabatta square with a small serving of a sweetened butter. The bun seemed store bought. Like yesterday or the day before. I think they made a big mistake changing out the bread basket, it was so little compared to our expectations that it kind of ruined the rest of the meal. They can't be saving much money not giving out nice buns. They don't have to do what they used to do which was pretty overboard but you can't go from overboard to stale miniature blah. Bread is important. Downsize, sure I understand but at least make it super fresh. The salads were good. The steak was good, the seafood too. Not great but good. If you want veggies AND potatoes with your dinner you have to order two sides. A mushroom snuck into my potatoes. I loathe mushrooms. I didn't bother telling them as I'm sure it wasn't intentional. But it was disconcerting. I also don't like potato skins in my mashed potatoes but that's a personal taste thing. Servings are on the smallish side. It's a nice restaurant. It is a bit overpriced but it is worth it to not have to drive into Iowa to eat. read more

Awesome service. Our server was top notch. She was very outgoing with a great sense of humor. Food was very good. I had the surf and turf plate. The skewered shrimp was excellent, the crab cake was decent, and the steak arrived as ordered (medium rare). My other guests had shrimp skewers so unfortunately not a lot of entree variety from us. We went last night (June28, 2023) - great service and great food! We were a party of eight, the place was packed but we didn't have to wait long for our table. The waitress was attentive and anticipated needs before we even thought of them. Our party ordered rib combo plates, ribeye, and salmon (many people ordered the same dishes) - I had the ribeye and it was just the way I ordered and like it. Highly recommend the walnut salad if you like blue cheese - it was served in a chilled dish and was delicious! No room for dessert as we all cleaned our plates! I want to start this review by saying that this place, at this point, is like a historical landmark in Moline, IL. I can recall coming here when I was a little kid for random functions and family get-together's. That being said, they have certainly updated things over the years and the place looks better than ever! Now, I want to say that I reviewed the good reviews and poor reviews prior to writing my review... in case that means anything to whomever is reading this.... From what I gather, it appears that there has been some growing pains at this restaurant over the years and certainly happy customers and not so happy customers. Well, I can tell you that my experience as far as customer service went today... was excellent! Lady at the counter when I entered was friendly and prompt. The lady (receipt said Karen) who helped me at the booth was very professional and kind. Food came out promptly and was fresh. Let's break down what I had: Bread = 7/10 Butter = 8/10 * Has a nice sweet taste * Caesar SS = 7.5/10 * very good, I just don't like as much dressing * Caribbean Steak = 5/10 * I asked for medium and got lightly medium/well. This steak lacked flavor. I only tried this because I was excited to experience unique flavors on the steak ... this really lacked any flavor and there was clearly no attempt to add anything other than typical pepper/salt/maybe a steak seasoning. * Coconut Shrimp = 9/10 * these were great! The sauce matched well with them. Only possible improvement here is to find something to marinate the shrimp in to give it a bit of flavor... but the sauce did help that! Soda = 10/10 * Server was on top of refills and making sure I wasn't wanting more * Overall, 8.5/10 experience. In my opinion, this is a great score and this place is doing things right overall. Miss Mamies is looking great and tasting great! We were seated quickly and we're waited on instantly by our friendly waitress. I was quite surprised by the nice newly remodeled interior when entering the restaurant and also surprised by how good our meal was. The bread basket was great and tasted homemade. The steak and shrimp were cooked to perfection and the turtle cheesecake was delicious. I feel that I got great value for my money and a great experience. More fails, what can I say. Had some pretty bad service along with it. The main entree's were good. No complaints there. The salads were good and their dressings are very good. The fries neither my wife or I cared for. I think we ate maybe 3 fries each. They almost seem batter coated, strangely cut. Total fail for us. You can't get a baked potato here until after 4 p.m. on any day. Not sure why that is. They did have very good, smooth, beer batter onion rings here....not anymore. These were the rough texture, more to the crunchy side, onion rings. Those are not for us, bad. The onion rings were a total fail. I think we ate one each. The waitress barely took care of us. She spent minutes on end talking to a man and a woman, no one that she even knew. This went on several times, talking loud. Ruined our lunch in more ways than one. We finally were wondering where our food was and here someone else came caring it out of the kitchen. She quick went over and grabbed it from that person to bring it to our table. Well, our food was done for sometime and they wanted to get it out of the kitchen before it got cold. My wife was finally able to get a refill and yes she was a bit grumpy back because it took so long, with a waitress not paying attention. She sensed that. When the waitress finally brought a refill, she slammed it down on the table. There was no excuse for that. She was the one causing the problems. Was also ignoring other tables. We tipped a good tip, we probably shouldn't have because that was the worst wait service we've had anywhere in years....horrible. If you missed--or are missing--the 70s, check into Miss Mamie's. From the 1970s Top 40 playlist to the meat and potato menu to the wood paneling and Naugahyde bench seats this place is unintentionally retro. Beyond that, the menu is quite acceptable for beef and seafood and the service is wonderful. My French onion soup was hearty with a "beefy" crust of toasted cheese. The mixed greens salad had just enough Spring Mix tossed in to prevent it from technically being just iceberg and romaine lettuces. However, the Ranch dressing was clearly inferior--thin, milky and without the familiar tang. Contrasting that was a perfectly cooked, medium rare London Broil. Onion straws were lightly crisped and tasty, except for a third that had been doused with meat sauce. The veggie medley was steamed too long and was lifeless. In for dinner before sunset I noticed the clientele skewed to an age that prefers not to drive after dark. That age group was sure to be comfortable and familiar with the playlist of The Carpenters, CCR, Queen, Firefall, Rick Nelson, and Chicago hits. The meals at Miss Mamies is always good! One of my favorites is the coconut shrimp and the spinach salad. Delicious shrimp with a real coconut mix fried to golden mouthwatering perfection. The spinach salad has sliced apple and mushrooms and they use a poppyseed dressing. Perfect for lunch or an early supper. Your meals are served with linen napkins and table cloths at the tables. My grandparents absolutely love this place; it's their favorite. They always come here for any special occasion. Every time I've been there, I order steak since it's a steak place and I don't care for seafood. It confuses me that a steak place cannot cook medium rare.
