When I asked about the disparity I was told "prices vary due to costs". Nowhere & no time was I told the cost. This practice is grossly unfair and the patron gets stuck. There is no reason to come here as long as the Oakland diner exists. We tried this one out because OD had no parking. Figured why not it's down the road. Mistakes were made. We even played it safe and went with pancakes. While the portion of pancakes were huge, they were terrible. Actually bad. IHOP has better pancakes. First the pumpkin pancakes on the brunch menu were described coming with a walnut glaze and whipped cream. They had neither. They were incredibly dry, the driest pancakes I've ever had. Terrible I couldn't even eat half of them. Over priced bland food that was missing half of the ingredients they were described with. We go to the OD every weekend, I see no reason to return and I can't fathom choosing this diner over the Oakland diner. They're not in the same league not even the same sport. read more

3 strikes in out. Third time ordering here after 2 breakfast disappointments. I was in the mood for a savory breakfast and saw the " huevos rancheros" on the menu. I was actually excited but after receiving it, my mood shifted. This is the worst thing a diner could offer. When you think of huevos rancheros, you think of avocado and over easy egg with slim tortilla chips and avocado. Even if you google, you can see what this order was supposed to be like. Instead, i got this horrific thing. 1) it was cold and solid as a rock 2) the amount of onions they put in this dish, practically eating a whole onion. 3) the lettuce ( which isn't even in a huevos rancheros dish) was extremely soggy. 4) the chips were whole chips that you can buy at grocery store, it looks like they just added them on the bottom of the dish. We've been here several tines before, and the food is TOPS! Today, it was salads, for the three of us. Mine, a generous chef salad, with lean & wonderful cuts of meat & cheese, over a crisp green salad, and garnished with hard cooked eggs and kalamata olives. I opted for simple oil and vinegar, and I need to mention that the extra virgin olive oil was fragrant and fruity. My wife's arugula salad with fried calamari had me tasting the nicely made seafood. We were visiting around Oakland and stumbled upon this great spot for lunch. It seemed like most of the customers were locals, and the atmosphere was fun and friendly. The portions of food were large, and it was tasty. The servers were very attentive and kept our coffee cups filled. Waffle was so good, but pancake taco was questionable. read more

I would give them zero stars if Yelp allows this option. I agree with other reviewers that the people here are RUDE. We were recently here and made a reservation for a large party of 12. Upon arrival, we found out that they gave us a table for 10 (5 diner sized small tables pushed together along a wall of booth). We tried to make the space they gave us work but it is just impossible with 13 (yes we ended up with an extra). The tables were all wobbly and uneven. When I asked if we could have the empty chair I was given this rude attitude that I would not be allowed to add one more chair to the 5 tables. These people do not care. They see us struggling to get seated and nobody approached us to offer us help. They know what they are doing without a doubt because the rat who was arguing with me repeated reservation for 12 and table for 12. No the table was for 10. They expected us to seat 7 persons on the row of booth and 5 on chairs with 5 tables. Anyways the food is mediocre diner food and tasteless. I would NEVER recommend this rude establishment. Tip for the owners, train your employees and yourselves to NEVER ARGUE WITH YOUR CUSTOMERS. read more

Really 3.5 - considering it's really a diner. My husband is still saying it's the best veggie omelette he's had in years at any diner! It was well-cooked, loaded with veggies & his fave, cheddar cheese. I had a Greek salad, which had lettuce & arugula, cukes & red onion, olives, crumbled feta, and several wedges of warm pita. I asked for no dressing - and the server double-checked with me, "NO dressing? how about on the side?" which was sweet - but no, thanks, & he followed through as asked. Interesting that there were no anchovies or stuffed grape leaves, usually part of the Greek salad at diners, but I have to admit that when we were in Greece several years ago, Greek salads didn't have those things either, so maybe that's more authentic! Our son had an omelet also, with bacon on the side. He asked for it grilled, well-cooked, not fried, and it came dry & crisp as he wanted it. If I were to be out that way again, I'd go there again - so if you live near Oakland, give it a try! read more

As a family we frequent the Lenape diner often. My husband and three children went for breakfast. Our server is the reason we will never go back. He is a server who used to be a server there then was gone for a while. He's the male server with a shaved head and an attitude. We ordered and asked for some requests in which he gave a noticeable attitude. My son asked for his juice and the attitude he gave was enough to ruin our time out together. I like this diner, but I'll preface I'm gluten free and they're the only ones to accommodate in the area in terms of breakfast. Aside from maybe a deli down the road. I love their pancakes they're really tasty and close to real pancakes. They offer gf bread, wraps and other things as well you just have to ask and be specific and they'll let you know. This was my first visit to New Lenape Diner. It was a Saturday at 3pm. I took a seat at the counter. The manager and staff appeared pleasant and eager. I ordered the Mexicana Burger. Yes, I received diner sized everything including fries. It is a some assembly required type of presentation. I enjoyed my tasty meal while watching college basketball and listening to Madonna. Multiple employees checked up on me during my stay. I left with a blueberry muffin which was all I needed for dinner later. My friend lives around the corner so this has become our go-to breakfast place when we go on road trips. I have tried pancakes, waffles and eggs. They have been well cooked and tasty. My friend is a pancake connoisseur and orders them on every visit. Today, he had the walnut banana and said he enjoyed it. Their coffee is good too. Smooth, not bitter and the waitstaff keeps your cup full. Speaking of waitstaff, I mentioned that my friend liked extra syrup and when the pancakes arrived, he also brought several cups of warm syrup. Nice. Clean tables.
