We went to have dinner last night and to my surprise it wasn't as good as it used to be. We go here several times a month ones a week. Last two times we noticed a decline but last night was the worst so far. Waitress was not good a little nasty from the start. Water was requested she brought it over in juice glasses when it's usually in large soft drink glasses. Took our order one cheese burger deluxe one turkey club with a house salad. Burger came out no cheese cold. Turkey club toast was burnt turkey was like leather very dry. Salad was okay but not the dressing was sour blue cheese. When we asked about the cheese burger she said that it was we ordered it very stern. She took the burger in the kitchen and. Returned with 2 pieces of cheese placed on top of the cold burger. Not even placed under the broiler for a minute. The diner was not even busy. I was convinced that the quality and service has gone downhill be hill. It's a shame for over 20 years I've been going here and I believe it was my last time. I told the manager all he said was thank you as he gave me my change. He even knows that we are there weekly. read more

We drove an hour to try this diner because we had seen they have a large selection of gluten free foods. It is a regular diner where the menu is extensive and you can eat any meal at any time of the day. The diner wasn't that busy while we were there. Our server was good but not the most attentive. The feel of the diner is an old school diner that I grew up going to in 80s-90s. My husband had the gluten free chicken Marsala and it was a very large portion. He brought half home. I had the chicken gyro and it was average. My daughter had crepes and said they were very good. I am not sure we would drive over an hour to go back but it was good. My husband did enjoy the gluten free cheesecake that he brought home. read more

The gluten free menu is extensive, food was delicious and the service was amazing. My daughter is gluten free and was thrilled to be able to eat a cheeseburger, onion rings and disco fries! I recently went into the Wayne Hills Diner for the first time today with my family. Overall the service was really good and the waiter(along with a trainee) were nice and patient with us while we were ordering our food. The place was very old fashioned and retro-y. I ordered an oreo pancake with whipped cream and once i came down to what might be the last pancake i found a cranberry. I thought it was just a random occurrence but i found another one too. The oreo pancake did not mention coming with cranberries and we immediately told one of the managers or waiters about it and took it back. He offered to make a new one and take it off our bill. My other party's food was okay, nothing to write home about as it's diner food. I took my pancakes to go and after eating them and got down to the last pancake i saw two cranberries again. I'm not sure if they're using old batter from earlier and just sprinkling oreo pieces within them or what, but that should not be the case. God forbid i might've been allergic to cranberries and had a reaction eating them if i hadn't fully checked my pancakes. read more

Today's order at Wayne hills diner was a disappointment. I ordered London broil with mushroom sauce, a baked potato and salad, French onion soup and fried clams. The London broil arrived with no sauce at all, and it's not London broil. It's another cut of meat. It appeared to be sliced and then cooked so I can't see how anyone would get a rare or medium rare slice. Even though I selected medium rare, it was well done. If a beef dish at a diner costs almost $40 I expect it to be prepared as ordered. The baked potato came with no butter or sour cream. The French onion soup was good but very salty so I left half of it, which was a shame. Salad was very good. Can't review the clams yet, as I haven't had those. The person I spoke with about these issues was nice, but I doubt I'll be ordering again in the near future. The diner was better before the pandemic. read more

I can't in good faith recommend this diner. The prices are very high (almost 6 for a regular oj not freshly squeezed) for the amount of food you get (I had breakfast and the portions were tiny) and the service is not great. read more

We have been here a couple of times and each time was just as good as the other!!! Food is very tasty especially the cream of turkey soup.... AMAZING!!!! I practically licked the bowl clean The diner is very well kept and clean. The service from start to finish excellent. I need to send a special shout out to our wonderful waitress Paulette she was so sweet and engaging to the point that whenever we are there we are going to request her table prices are fair and consistent with the quality of the food!!!! This was my 1st time eating here. I stopped by because it was close to my location and the 4.7 star review was attractive. When I walked in I was greeted but when I was seated the waitress was snobby and rude. No smile and no eye contact. She dropped the menu on the table and walked away for at least 10 minutes. I saw another waitress coming towards me so I asked who was serving this table? The waitress for my table was standing behind me the entire time. She never provided a straw or refilled my drink. She walked past me several times only stopping once when she realized I was almost done. It was only then when she asked if I needed anything else. Of course I asked for the check. Prejudice and bigotry is a sickness. Being the only Black woman in the place and my hair was covered I could feel the stares. No one in that restaurant was indigenous to this land but me. It amazes me how immigrants come to America seeking love, wealth, freedoms and refuge from oppression in their own land BUT immediately know how to hate African Americans when they get here. And it's only because of the battles that African Americans fought, that other immigrants can come here and reap the benefits. Of course I'll never go back. And I'll be sure to tell my very wealthy family and friends not to eat there either. I'm giving it 2 stars because of the kind gentleman who met me when I walked in. Those stars are for him. I live near the NY/NJ border, but I'd never heard of Wayne Hills Diner until an ad for it popped up on my Facebook page last week. I looked it up because the ad mentioned a wide selection of gluten-free items, which is right up my alley! We went yesterday, and the meal was very nice. I was a little confused by the printed menu because it didn't quite match the online menu, but one of the hosts explained that they were waiting for their new hard-copy menus. I was going for GF comfort food and ordered the Gluten Free Fried Coconut Chicken Strips Basket, which comes with very good fries, some onion rings, and a salad or soup. The food was delicious and nice and hot. Our waiter checked back with us to make sure everything was good, and a nice older gentleman (likely one of the owners) stopped by our table a couple of times to make sure we were happy. This was an epic find for us, and I look forward to going again--so many dishes to try!!! On my way back to my apartment, I ran into a neighbor whose husband is celiac. Wayne Hills Diner just might have the best GF food in NJ. Not only do they serve massive pieces of fish for their fish and chips that are packed with flavour, they cook them in a separate deep fryer ensuring they have no gluten. We also got the mushroom ravioli which brought tears of joy after each bite. We also got a GF brownie and GF cheesecake for dessert, both so big it reminded me of being at a kids birthday party. To top it all off we were given a free brownie for the road as they were amazed we were from Oregon. Long story short I will be making the almost 3000 mile trip just to come here again. read more

a little disappointed. i have been here multiple times with no issues. food quality used to be great as well as their service. a few of my friends and i came here tonight and we were left unsatisfied and unimpressed. my friend ordered a "healthy" chicken wrap which contained mushy peppers, asparagus, and sweaty mozzarella. the salad on the side was sad, along with dry lettuce and overripe pineapple. however, she did enjoy the long, crunchy, purple grapes on top which exploded with flavor in her mouth. my other friend ordered a Belgian waffle with strawberry filling, which was actually served on top (not filled), which looked like an artificial strawberry crime scene. she liked the waffle itself, however she couldn't really taste it due to the overpowering and overwhelming taste of the red 40 sauce on top. i am taking into consideration the fact that this is just diner food, but we have noticed their quality dropping compared to past purchases. my last friend ordered a classic BLT. she was mainly satisfied other than the fact that her sandwich was ten towers tall filled with an usual amount of lettuce and tomato in between two slices of very, very, thin bread. me myself, i ordered a chicken caesar wrap which i personally didn't have any complaints about, it wasn't exceptional, but it satisfied my cravings. the service was also slow tonight and a little off. they forgot two waters and the food came out at much different times and intervals. we have been coming here for years. we love this place, we really do, but tonight it was a boo. we're hoping this was just a one night occurrence. don't worry, we'll be back. or will we..? read more

Service was great. Very nice people. Host was quick, waiter was outstanding, person at register also very nice. This place has the very old school traditional diner look inside which I liked but my other half found to be outdated. The cappuccino was really good as was the fruit salad. The omelette was perfect especially with the added jalapeños I requested. I didn't really like the taste of the home fries and I usually love all potatoes. My partner had the salmon Benedict but he requested it on a waffle and he liked it. He also had the side of corned beef hash which was okay. Nice spot to try if you are local. We weren't crazy about the food we got this time around but may come back to try different items since it is local to us. read more

This place is all about quantity over quality. The food portion was humongous! However not tasty. We had the turkey avocado sandwich and the artichokes omelets. Both were not good. The turkey was extremely dry and the sandwich bread was not good either. And there was no flavor. The hashbrown on my hubby's plate was really not good either. Major failed. The fries that came with the sandwich was fresh and crispy tho. The only thing I really liked was the beef chili which arrived nice and hot and was served with raw onions and cheese. The food here is average. I ordered one burger, mashed potatoes, and a hot chocolate the person I was with ordered a Greek chicken wrap some fries pickles, and coleslaw on the side. The wrap was small the chicken was kinda bland, and it had a lot of veggies the coleslaw was nasty, and so was the other stuff we had ordered but the fries were alright the mashed potatoes were bland and the burger was dry the hot chocolate was made with hot water read more

Not a big diner fan but this is one I love! The menu is huge , there is something for everyone . The food is great. I usually get a salad or grilled cheese with some of the best French fries around! If you want a one stop diner for all your eats than Wayne Hills is it. Love how super clean this place is. Food is great and hot. We have tried most of the waiters and waitresses very friendly and accommodating. So I guess to date we have been to Wayne hills about 20 times now for breakfast and dinner. We love it. I stumbled across this diner for lunch. I called in my order of a vegetable stir fry and lentil soup. When I arrived I parked in their lot. I was greeted when I walked in and paid for the food. They charge a surcharge for credit cards fyi. One thing I have to complain about is the packing of the food. The vegetables were packed in a separate container and it collapsed when the rice was on top and it got all over the bag. I had to be super careful driving home. When I got in I dug in and I will say the lentil soup and the stir fry was very good. I enjoyed the meal. read more

I do not make it my position to post negative reviews and since I had already spoken to the owner Nick, who promised 3 weeks ago to call me back. He never did. So here is my review. When your establishment promotes Celiac Disease Gluten Free options and when that sacred trust is broken by lousy, careless and reckless kitchen/table service, causing a major medical episode to one of our family members, it MUST BE called out so others can be warned to stay away from this establishment and prevent a potential life threatening reaction to Gluten. My offer still stands for the owner to call me back with his findings of his so called 'investigation' he had promised me personally to do so. Stay away from this establishment if you suffer from Celiac Disease and are on a strict Gluten Free diet! Until they can reassure it customers to take Celiac Disease seriously. read more
