I also loved knowing comfort cafe is a non profit organization helping those in need. I'm so grateful to have been able to support such a beautiful mission. My family definitely enjoyed comfort cafe. *cash only. If you did not bring cash like us... Don't sweat it, they have an atm in the back by restrooms. Their menus have no pricing so it's purely donation.

The food is out of this world with such large portions. I get the Drunken Monkey every time I go and am so glad with every bite as it is so fresh. Please note that their food is made fresh and the cost is only a recommendation since you give what you can but they only ask cash or check. There is a ATM around the corner but it's best to come with cash in the pocket as it's so worth it. So the next time you are anywhere near the area on the weekends and want a great breakfast you have to go but get there early as there may be a line since the service and food is that damn good.

It was popping when we got there, so we had about a 25 minute wait. It took them a little while to take our order, but once they did, the food was made and delivered in a timely manner. I, of course, got the cinnamon roll pancakes short stack, and they were absolutely divine. No need for butter or syrup, they were perfectly delicious as is, cinnamon swirl included?!? and icing glaze as well. Another favorite was the chile relleno omelette - the poblano pepper on top added some smokiness along with the steak, and the sour cream and cheese cooled it down. Bacon and canadian bacon on point. A solid breakfast spot! Don't miss out on the cinnamon roll pancakes! *Cinnamon Roll pancakes, short stack *Cowboy Breakfast: eggs, biscuits with country gravy, bacon *Chile Relleno Omelette: fajita steak, green peppers, onions, tomatoes, & cheese, topped with ranchero sauce, sour cream, green onion, feta cheese *Pancakes & Eggs: 2 cinnamon roll pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage *Sides: grilled ham, bacon, hash browns

The waffle and the omelette were both a bit bland. I don't think the shrimp were seasoned much. I did enjoy the biscuit. It was the best aspect of the meal. I was in a rush, but think the experience would have been better if I sat down and got the food fresh.

Ambiance was really cool, I'm all for the black owned, black ambience themed restaurant. This is my…read moresecond in SA area. As a white male who was raised the typical southern redneck ways, it seems out of my wheelhouse, it's not. I wish i could give it 5 stars but i just had to dock 1 star for few things. Not to say i won't go back, im just very strict on my ratings. But they can always be changed for next trip. Let's start with food. The omelette was lackluster, very pretty and proper. Yet, i had to pour seasoning on a few times. Still couldn't eat bit 1/4 before throwing in the towel. Literally. I had high expectations knowing what i know about the seasonings black folk put on their food (like i do when i cook too, learned from them) lol I added the sausage just in case the veggie omelette wouldn't have enough flavor kick, but to be honest the sausage was also under seasoned and lackluster. The potato's were EXACTLY what i had expected when i read it was black restaurant. That's the kinda thing i was looking forward too. Strong seasoned!! It was great. Almost like jerk flavored taters I've never been a grits eater, we were raised on meat and taters and eggs for breakfast. Never grits and I'm from the south. I've tried them at several places going to like them but never have, till now, it's still not something i would order, but they tasted pretty amazing. And love the way it was plated and presented. I didn't however like that they poured the grits like they did but all over my toast. I'm picky about foods touching cause I'm a weirdo... but grits and bread just don't match. At all. ALL THIS BEING SAID, BUT I COULDNT TRY THIER BEST DISHES. I cut sugar from my diet 6 months ago and can't bring myself to do it anymore. Even though 99% of their menu has sugar filled items. They all looked so amazing. I seen the other tables get their orders and all i could do was drool. If they ever figure out a way to make some of the bad azz breakfast desert dishes but sugar free, they would have a 4 hour wait daily and reservations only on weekends. In today's times everyone trying to eat much more healthy. Maha!!! How about a sugar free chicken and waffles. Maybe a chicken and waffles but sugar free syrup or honey, idk. I loved the pics on the walls and the suede seats!! And the gold plated spoons forks and knives. Staff was super friendly. There was zero prejudice eyes on me. I felt right at home like everyone else there. That made a big impression as that's not what happened to me when i went to a similar place in Houston. I felt like i was not suppose to be there. Needless to say, I'm going back next week and might even have my very first cheat day in 6 months and have some sugar foods. Gave 4 stars at the beginning, but now after I wrote the whole review. I realized they deserve the five star so I'm changing it right now after next meal there I'll make a decision take that star back or leave it.

I had to ask for more coffee, the waitress never checked on us, didn't offer refills, left finished dishes sitting on the table way longer than they should have. My SIL booked the party room & we were ROASTING in there it was SO hot it was uncomfortable. Ironically the rest of the restaurant was nice & cool. When I asked a staff member if we could prop the door open to get some air she looked at me like I was bothering her & kept walking. The manager agreed to separate the check onto 3 different credit cards & for whoever was paying in cash. The waitress argued with my SIL & BIL about it even though they'd gotten the managers agreement. Again the food is out of this world good but the service was the absolute worst.
