Just to add to my previous review, this time I ordered a Cuban sandwich and my friend ordered for her 2 combo breakfast. One with sausage and the other with bacon. Sorry no pictures on the sausage combo breakfast because almost didn't made it home fortunately I have a picture of the bacon one. Like I said before place super clean and comfortable. The son super friendly and helpful attentive. I do recommend this place excellent for brunch lunch breakfast!! I'm adding new pictures!!

I am always on the lookout for those international out of the ordinary places to try. This place has been on my list to try and never got the chance to get to it since they close somewhat early I am kinda sad I didn't get to experience that hospitality earlier! We were greeted by who I am assuming is the son since it is called Mom&Son bakery... friendly and kind is not enough to express how he approached us and helped us order! We wanted to try all the traditional pastries. He recommended us what to get and even gave us samples of juice to pick which one we like. These were full cups lol not just only samples! When you pay he hand you a printed note with some positivity written on it! This was the sweetest touch! And I am sure it will brighten anybody's day! Everything we ordered was delicious! You can tell made with love Also the vibes are so positive! Families adjoining tables chit chatting... kids running around! I will definitely be back!

A family-owned business that serves a nice simple, lunch. I had the ham and cheese sandwich. The bread was homemade, the ham was tasty, and I had the choice of three different cheeses. The space was pleasant and the one worker was friendly (other workers were preparing the food in the kitchen).

Adorable place. Very clean inside. Inviting. Was promptly greeted with a smile. In the photos I tried the powdered sugar things. Sorry. They were light and really good. The cookies were a miss for me and the coconut balls were good but dry. To be fair they were closing soon. The empanadas were good. Big. The salsas with them were good. Definitely would go back. Very nice people. Even their young kids were displaying their exceptional customer service.

As a fellow Puerto Rican who desperately misses the flavors of home I was extremely excited and I was NOT let down. The customer service who I think was the "son" was so kind. I do think they may need help eventually in the front because it got a bit busy for one person to get orders out and take them. Prices were reasonable! The corn meal/ harina de maíz was wonderful!!!! I'd love to see them add more to the menu and perhaps add an order of smaller / multiple surullitos since an order for them was just for one large one. Wishing them the best

Who knew that a Puerto Rican family had opened a bakery in Leon Valley, Texas. Well, I I did not know, but I had seen a "sign" for a bakery and I had always thought that this part of Bandera road needs a good bakery. Well, the wait is over because Mom & Son Bakery is amazing!!! The pastries are gastronomic perfection--freshly baked, flaky, crispy, with just the right balance of tropical fruit and/or cream cheese fillings. Twice I have visited and so far I have sampled a guava and cheese turnover, a Cuban sandwich and a tiny little crispy, sweet and cheesy snippet called a quesito. Everything that I have tried is delicious and I can't wait to go back for more. I love this place! The young man who runs the cash register greets every customer with a smile and a hello. You feel the warmth and neighborly spirit as soon as you walk into the bakery. And, after you place your order you receive a positive message for the day. In addition to sweet treats, there are breakfast and lunch sandwiches offered. I ordered a Cuban sandwich to go and it was a generous sized sandwich that was flavorful and good. Wait times may be just a bit long for someone on their way to work, but, go early the food is worth the wait and if you go too late in the day they tend to sell out. Also, the prices for the pastries are not displayed clearly. The bakery is open from 6 am until 2 pm, Tuesday - Saturday, but, they stop making sandwiches around 1 pm. And, like I said, go early because they sell out fast. If great food and excellent customer service matter to you and you just want to feel good in the morning, then start your day at Mom & Son Bakery. Ya'll know how we do-- you BETTER go get you some!

Sorullitos, Yes!!!!! Please!!!

We stopped by here on a Saturday midday on the guidance of Yelp reviews. This place deserves every star it receives. From the moment we stepped through the doors we knew this was going to be good. First, we were greeted like we had been coming here for years. Secondly, as we spoke to people we found out many were from Puerto Rico and said this food was authentic. When we explained this was our first time here, JC, the son, did not hesitate to share all they offered on the menu in detail. Everything sounded so delicious, but we finally settled on pastrami sandwich, Cuban sandwich, bread pudding, and tres leches cake. One bite into the baked goods and you could immediately tell this was homemade. The sandwiches were huge and tasted amazing. The son was so sweet he even gave us a plate of Sorullitos, Puerto Rican corn fritters with cheese, for free to taste. Let me tell you, remember that restaurant scene from the movie When Harry met Sally, well that was me! Yes! Yes! Yes! Where have these been all my life! Everything was so amazing that we couldn't leave without getting one of everything in their bakery case. My husband and I plan to spend many more Saturdays here for our weekly mommy-daddy time together. Review from Jennifer Escobedo, Reuben's better half

The cubano! So perfect!

Decided to try sonething off the beaten path. So glad we did! The "son" from the mom and son bakery asked how we heard about them. We told him yelp and that we couldnt pass trying them out with such a high rating by the other previous yelpeds. They are a puerto rican bakery but all you need to know is that if you want an over the top sandwhich they had at least a dozen breakfast and lunch option sandwhiches. We bought 3 different ones. My hubby had the cuban and it was better than any I've had in Miami or Puerto Rico. Beautiful shaved meat, crisp delicious bread and the right amount of mustard and pickles. Pardon if i butcher the name of the other 2 sandwhiches - the tripterria ( a triple meat shaved sandwhich with fresh tomatos and lettuce) and the echerria ? I could only finish 1/2 my sandwhic because the meal came with chips. The pastries and desserts looked amazing so we bought several to try at home. The inside is so cute and comfy with lots of seating. The owner offered us some complimentary coffee to go with lunch which was perfect beccause it wasnt weak coffee. Come visit this amazing place! It felt healthy, delicious and so satisfying!

Torta cubana

The best torta cubanas in Texas! And their pastries are to die for. The staff is friendly, kind and very respectful. I recommend this place a million times.

his was seriously such a gem to have a solo lunch today. It's a cute spot tucked away off of Bandera Rd and I immediately felt welcomed. I was given a run through of the menu and what everything is. The bread pudding tasted like love! I don't even know how to describe it. It was just so yummy and you felt the love that was put into making it. I enjoyed good conversation, food and coffee. The icing on the cake was this spot's version of a fortune cookie (sans the cookie). I didn't even realize how much I needed that.

The Cuban! I'm obsessed

My mom invited me for breakfast, but of course, I paid. Walked into a very crisp and pristine bakery that had a yummy aroma of coffee and baked goods was very favorable and encouraging. The friendly employees and owners greet customers and take the time to explain in detail the Puerto Rican sweets and other menu items. My mom had the oatmeal and bread pudding. Unfortunately, I was not able to get a picture of the oatmeal as she gobbled it. I did get a taste, and although I am not an oatmeal fan, I have to say it was very good. It had the right amount of sweet and constancy. For my taste, I would have wanted some added nuts, maybe raisins or maybe cinnamon, but that is just me. My mom enjoyed it, and to her, it was perfect, so it's a matter of taste. The bread pudding was perfectly baked with just the right amount of raisins (yup! I'm a raisin fan), spices, and the piece was very generous. Now, to the star of the meal, the Cuban sandwich. It was oh so good and I will be going for it again. The bread was perfectly toasted with a very good amount of pork, ham pickles, and condiments. All perfectly blended to perfection and totally amazing! It is served with chips, which I was given a bag of Doritos, but would have preferred just plain chips. Who cares about the chips... let's get back to The Cuban... the sandwich was very good, and honestly, I was only able to eat half. Took the other half home to give my husband to tell me that I had to take him soon. So, we will be back! *The only thing that I would even attempt to ding the restaurant would be the temperature of the place. It was cold, and although I requested an adjustment, they tried to accommodate. it was still too cold for us. So, next time, I'm taking my sweater with me... just in case.

I come nearly every week to get the guayasitos. They are delicious. I have learned to come early because my favorites sell out.

This is the place for Philly Cheesesteak! Gino's deli is also good, but this is equally wonderful…read more Those are the only 2 places you should consider if you're a cheesesteak snob like me. This cannot be beat. Get the American cheddar (and extra if you love cheese). Get extra red sauce (jalapeno salsa or something). I like my cheesesteak with mushrooms and jalapeños. This is definitely big enough to share unless you have a beast for a husband. Get 2 and put 1/2 in fridge for tomorrow. It gets a tad soggy, but it's almost even better the next day. The bread here is amazing. The staff is super rad. The location and vibe is spot on. Do not miss this secret spot.

Unpopular opinion incoming: I'm not overly impressed. A good sandwich is one of my favorite things,…read moreso this joint's been on my radar for a while. So, when co-workers wanted to go yesterday, I jumped on it. Don't get me wrong. I love the vibe of this place. I LOVE their story. It's very NY/Northeastern deli feel (they're from Pittsburgh, but you get my drift, right!?). No nonsense. Small inside area. No tables inside. Just enough room to look at the menu, order, and go wait outside. I opted for the chicken bacon ranch on hoagie. What came out was a decent size sandwich, but incredibly messy and soggy. There was so much juice/ liquid the sandwich quickly became unmanageable and just disintegrated. Look, if you're going to serve a sandwich that messy, please upgrade your napkins. It was a one bite - two napkin ratio. The sandwich was good, but the mess and difficulty eating it just took away any enjoyment. Additionally, the flies outside rivaled the worst I've experienced. Do you remember the scene in the Lost World, Jurassic Park movie when the hunters found the Rex nest!? Okay, okay, maybe not that bad, but it was a lot. Hang some fly bags or strips or somethin'. Found price to be a little high. By the time I bought chips and a drink, plus tip: $22. Just FYI: my co-worker disagrees. He thought it was the BEST SANDWICH HE'D EVER HAD. So, yes, go give them a try, but bring a beach towel for clean up.
