Must visit bakery and don't mind the line it moves fast and guarantee a fresh hot malasadas. We got the coconut, guava and macadamia malasadas and highly recommend the first two but the macadamia tasted more like a vanilla not strong on the nut side. Their coffee is delicious too! Loved their service super friendly. And a not there are no seating area

We came here because of all the hype and honestly, I think it comes down to me just not being a fan of Malasadas. The service here is great. They are very efficient and the Malasadas come out fresh and warm. So why didn't I like them? Well, my daughter ended up getting one each of the filled ones, but I just didn't care for the fillings. Maybe I just needed a plain one. I definitely think this place is worth a visit, but just not for me.

Again, one of those viral places that didn't quite live up to the hype. We stood in line and ordered two filled and two plain. My daughter had the chocolate and I had the mac nut. We both agreed that the plain ones were actually better than the filled ones. Even then, they were just okay and didn't really stand out to me. Worth trying once, but not worth going back.

Great customer service, friendly, and professional. You can't go wrong with any of the flavors. Def try the ones with filling. Fast service for how busy they are. Very small parking lot. No seating area

A yummy sweet treat and we got lucky because it was empty when we went! It's basically like a donut with filling inside, but I preferred the plain ones with no fillings. Dough is very light and airy.

The malasadas are so good that I visited three times during my vacation. The first two times, I came very early (6:30 or 7am) and had no issues with parking. Plus I was done within 10/15 minutes. The third time, I visited about 2:30pm and the line was out the door, a person was directing traffic in the small parking lot. It was crazy but the service was fairly quick (25 minutes), considering the crowd. The place is small and just for placing orders! There's no place to dine-in. Orders are placed inside and picked out outside from the pickup window.

This place is definitely a tourist favorite, so expect a line pretty much any time you visit. Thankfully, the process is well organized. You wait in line, place your order at the register, step outside, and wait for your name to be called. Even with the constant crowds, I was impressed by how efficiently they operated. They have multiple registers open to take orders, so the line moves much faster than it looks. The pickup process was just as smooth, and I didn't feel like I was waiting very long. As for the food, everything we tried was delicious. It's one of those places where you really can't go wrong with the menu. The shop itself is on the smaller side, so it can feel a bit cramped while you're ordering. Fortunately, most people grab their food and go, which keeps things moving. Overall, despite the popularity and long lines, the efficient service and consistently good food make it well worth the wait. Pro tip: make sure to eat it as soon as you get it because that's when the Malasadas are the best!

People go here for one thing and it's the obvious one, malasadas. But I would like to highlight another item that is quite tasty as well, which is the butter mochi. Since you are getting sweets, black coffee balances out the bites well but each person has a preference with their coffee. While crowd seems intimidating, they are just waiting for their order. You order inside and wait outside for pickup. You can also call in and pick up as well. Saves time tbh. As for the malasadas, it is a fluffy donut texture with sugar coating the outside. You can get sugar, cinnamon sugar or li hing. Filling options are custard (best), chocolate, haupia (coconut), macadamia, guava, and lilikoi. Tasted amazing! Only reason they didn't get a 5 star is due to their unfriendliness and interaction. Sad but it is what it is.

    Kiara P.

I'm really simple when it comes to treats I like. This wasn't the place for me. You order inside and wait outside for the staff to call your number. The staff taking the orders were friendly and helpful but the one calling the orders was just rushing. I ordered one original malasada and wasn't impressed. My friend ordered one macadamia nut malasada and a guava muffin. Her muffin wasn't in the bag and when we showed the receipt, the receipt was taken and we waited over 10 mins for no one to resolve the issue. We went back in to talk to the staff we ordered from and she was surprised we never received our muffin and helped us. If you like cinnamon sugar type of sweets, this is right up your alley.

I was like, "How good can these doughnut-looking things really be?" But they totally lived up to the hype. The texture so good. They came out warm, fluffy, and light. Today's special flavor was raspberry, but we got the macadamia, haupia, and guava. They were all so good! They often have long lines, but we got lucky today, and the wait wasn't too bad. We loved the souvenir shirts too and loved the price. Service: A+++

Parking is tight, but I appreciate that there was someone outside navigating each car. No tables to sit. When you enter *KEEP THR DOOR CLOSED* lol there are signs to keep it closed, but people seem to miss that. To order, you go in one door and wait outside to pick up at the window. You cannot go wrong ordering anything from here! With that said, all the sweet treats are soft fluffy and warm. The flavors are perfectly made not too sweet .. even the cream filled ones! We also picked up stickers- great quality, thick and waterproof! ($6 pack of 5) We had to get shirts as well which were super soft! ($21) Adult sizes range from S-XXL. SERIOUSLY.. from the Malasadas to the shirts to the stickers! Q-U-A-L-I-T-Y !!!

Hot Malasada!!! Nothing beats the taste of a warm malasada. The lines are long, but they go pretty quickly. Your malasadas are made to order, so know that you're going to wait at least 5-10 minutes. I ordered the original, cinnamon sugar and the custard. Can you say a box of deliciousness? We stopped at Starbucks in Waikiki and enjoyed our coffee and malasadas beach side. This screams vacation perfection! The only down side is there is no seating to enjoy your food there. But hey, you're less than a mile from the beach, head on over there to enjoy breakfast with a view.

    Amanda M.

I had heard many things about Leonard's malasadas before going so the anticipation was high. I loved how they were cooked fresh and were hot as soon I was given them. I got the guava and haupia fillings. The malasadas were tasty but I think the filling was ok! Next time I'll need to try a different one. There's usually a line but it goes really fast.

Ask the Community - Leonard's Bakery

Do they ship to the mainland?

No, but you can pack it up to go with you on the plane.

    Anything gluten free?

I didn't see any at the time we visited, but their menu does advertise macaroons and butter mochi which may be gluten free.

I could not order for delivery through Door Dash or Uber Eats. Very disappointed. I called them at Leonard's and they said order through Door Dash but they do not have Leonard's listed. Do they deliver or not?😟

    https://www.doordash.com/store/leonard's-bakery-honolulu-24742124/ I was able to Google Leonard's…

Can you take it home to the main land?

Yeah, but order it with no sugar. Instead ask for a a side of sugar. When you get there, reheat them in the microwave or air fryer, and sprinkle the sugar on top. Will taste (practically) like new.

Do they take phone orders for large amounts for pick up?

Yes. But give them a lot of advanced notice

Do they have anything that is dairy-free?

Nothing that I remember seeing there. So I guess not.

Is it safe to eat the original malasadas for people with peanut allergy?

I don't think I saw peanuts nor peanut oil on their menu

Sadly we missed out this trip... do you ever go to festivals in California?

    Food festivals yes

Are they open on holidays? More specifically, will they be open tomorrow, 9/5 for Labor Day?

Yes, they are open on some holidays, including Labor Day.

    Hi Do you delivery?

    No, no delivery

    Are they cash only?

You can use a card unless it's under a certain amount. I think around $5

Are there savory options or just sweet?

They have a few savory options that are sausages or ham and cheese wraps in sweet bread pastry. Take a look at their website for their menu. They are mainly in demand for…

To the locals...Did Leonard's change their recipe?? I've been eating Leonard's for over 40 years. I ate malasadas twice within a month. The dough seems more dense now (my friends agree). Miss the old recipe!!!😫

Locals say they did…. I’ll tell you they are very dense… but delicious.

Can Leonard's Bakery Gift Cards be used at mobile locations?

    Yes. Here's a link that explains Leonard's Bakery Hawai'i Gift Cards: "https://www.giftly.com/gift-card/leonards-bakery-honolulu"

How can I get them delivered?

Hello, On their website is says no delivery. So sorry!…

Does anyone have nutritional information on one Malasada? How many calories? Fat ... saturated fat? sugar? And no snide comments from fat pre existing condition kine?

I mean if you ate a dozen in one sitting and you start sweating, get chills, and faint - you went into a diabetic shock so that will answer the sugar question. Now, if you squeeze one of the malasadas and you see oil, that answers your fat question,…

Do you have items that do not include; eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, sesame or shellfish?

Of course ... get your donut Down to Earth

    Do you have a bathroom?

    No they don't

    Do you deliver?

I know you can order online and just pick up. But don't think they deliver not sure.

What time does this location close?

I believe they close at 7pm now

I love some Mr. Donuts the only donuts I eat on the island are here and Purvee, not to say I…read morehaven't tried others but these set the bar. Mr. Donuts is your more classic donut shop, but that doesn't take away from what they offer which is goodness in each bite, my favorites are the oreo white frosting one, the claw and the fritter, but nearly all of them have great taste. You can follow them on Instagram and order through messaging, pay with PayPal or Venmo and let him know when you will be there (park on the street, he will tell you where) and they come and bring them to you. Excellent service, price ($20 for a dozen), and taste there's a reason why I come from Kaneohe to grab my Donuts .

I love Pipeline Bakeshops Malasadas! I have been to several Malasada places in Hawaii but | love…read morethere's the best for the following reasons: 1. the size of the malasadas: some restaurants tend to make their Malasadas smaller and when places do this it ruins the overall texture and quality of it. The bigger the malasadas size the more airy and fluffy and more bread layers that will be inside. 2. their malasadas always taste fresh and the same quality each time. 3. their malasadas don't feel oily or heavy at all Overall I would highly recommend this place for their Malasadas! I'm so happy to have found them. I can back multiple times on my trip. They also have other desserts too that I have yet to try. They have ice cream, cakes, and other desserts Also tip: if you are ordering a malasada also order a coffee or a matcha drink to go with it. The cinnamon sugar from the malasada just matches so perfectly with a drink this restaurant is also a nice place for walking! There's lot of stores and restaurants to walk around! I'm trying to remember but I think there was a book off that was not too far from here! If you either drive or maybe walk. Service: staff was super helpful and friendly while I was there. I was having an issue with my online order because my phone was being glitchy and they were so nice in helping :) Also wanted to note their branding is so cute!! They even sell merch items too

Good location in Kaimuki, around other shops and restaurants. It is clean and bright inside. There isn't really anywhere to sit in the shop to eat, so you'll have to take it to go.
