I'm usually not a fan of donuts but my friends really wanted to try this place and I loved it! The chocolate donut was definitely my favorite and the service was good. Right next to the truck me and my friends got to wait with some adorable baby chicks! We were able to watch the sunset from the tables nearby.

If you're in the mood for some warm, tasty treats, this spot is definitely worth checking out. Everything always tastes great and there are a few different options to select from on the menu.

The malasada truck was parked right outside the mall, so had to get some fresh malasadas (Portuguese donuts) for the ALOHA win. They do take Apple Pay.

First time trying and it didn't disappoint I had the hapuia which my girlfriend told me it was coconut filling and it was so good Food here is 10/10 and customer service is super friendly and amazing Ambiance is nice it's a food truck right outside of windward mall we also ran into American idol and award singer Iam Tongi

Leonards famous malasadas in Waipahu. Hot fresh and so good without the lines like Honolulu. Quick mobile truck in outside ambiance

This particular Leonard's Bakery food truck only takes card (apple pay included). Please be patient because they're taking orders while making your malasadas fresh.

Drove out to get these and it did not disappoint! So warm fluffy and delicious! There was no wait when I went around 930 AM on a Monday! If you have never had these you are missing out. 10/10 for a quick sugary snack.

Delicious and open at 8am! Perfect local breakfast stop on our way back from the airport. They fry them fresh after you order. We will be back!

got two boxes of malasadas for a coworkers birthday. We got the regular sugar and the cinnamon sugar. I've always grown up eating the regular sugar so I was a little skeptical about the cinnamon, but it was really good and it's always best fresh, but if there was extra, I just heat it up in the microwave for about 30 seconds for breakfast the next day and it was delicious. Highly recommended.

On our 4 day trip to Hawaii, we had Leonard's a total of 4 times! Nothing beats a hot, fresh malasada with a cup of coffee. This is a MUST HAVE if you are visiting Hawaii, as anything on the mainland could never compare. The service was quick and friendly, and the quality never disappoints. After trying all the flavors, I would most definitely recommend the Cinnamon and the Macadamia Nut Filled, but might as well try them all while you're here!

Leonard's is popular for a reason. The donuts here are fresh and delicious. We tried the coconut and custard flavors, both were really decadent and filling. I think most donuts are best fresh and if you don't have them warm they probably won't be as good, which is where Leonard's shines. They make them fresh, I don't know if there's much to improve.

Has anyone had experience taking these on a plane? (To Los Angeles) How to store them? Lol Are they even allowed? 🤷🏻‍♀️?

You can carry them on. Not sure how far you are flying them. If really far, a few secs in micro or maybe air fryer to reheat unless you don't mind them cold...

Any special orders to take back home?

Regular and my person fav.. Dobash!

Are there any butter/milk in the Malasadas? Any dairy free options?

Both milk and butter; no dairy-free option. Maybe one of the vegan cafes on island might have something suitable?

I only like fresh. Do they cook them in truck? Or best to go to the main store?

Yes, it's cooked hot and fresh at this location.

While waiting inside for my order, I noticed four young employees who appeared far more focused on socializing than on serving customers. One employee was recounting details of his previous night, which clearly distracted the other three -- they were laughing and joking around instead of attending to the long drive-thru line and the customer waiting at the counter. This kind of behavior shouldn't be happening during a rush, and it points to a lack of active management on the floor. Staff need to understand they're there to work, not to socialize on the clock, especially when customers are visibly waiting. I'll be following up with the regional manager directly, because a location this busy needs a manager who is actually managing -- keeping the team focused and the lines moving. A couple thoughts before you post: I left out the physical description (curly hair) since Yelp/Google reviews are public and permanent -- best to avoid identifying details about specific employees. Want me to also draft a separate, more detailed message for when you call the regional manager? That one could include more specifics since it's a direct, private conversation.

My kids and I look forward to our morning coffee and donuts, and the staff here are some of the kindest people I have ever met. Yes, sometimes things run out or there's a wait because they are busy -- but I would gladly wait an extra 5 minutes for the correct order and genuine kindness. The team here works hard and it shows. I've worked in the restaurant industry before, and I think before leaving negative comments people should try putting themselves in the employees' shoes for a moment. I have never been so disappointed with a local business, especially being born and raised here…read more I've been trying all week to buy poi balls. Before today, I had already stopped by 2-3 different times, but each time I left empty handed. Today, I finally made it there again, waited in line, and there was only one customer ahead of me. The employee, an older woman, didn't acknowledge me while helping the other customer, which I understood, so I waited patiently for about 5-8 minutes. What was especially frustrating is that while I was standing there waiting, it would have been nice if she had simply let me know they were only accepting cash that day. That would have saved me from waiting in line only to find out when it was finally my turn. Even a simple sign posted at the counter would have made a huge difference. It just felt like there was a lack of basic customer courtesy and communication. When it was finally my turn to order, I was told their system was down and they were only accepting cash. At that point I was already frustrated because I had parked far away. I asked where the nearest ATM was, and she vaguely said it was "somewhere in the food court" without giving clear directions. I ended up wandering around looking for an ATM, and by then I was so overwhelmed and frustrated that I just left. I tried calling several times throughout the day, but no one ever answered the phone. After a few hours, I decided to give them one more chance, even though it's out of the way for me. I called again with no answer, but I figured she might have been the only employee working and too busy to answer. When I arrived, they were sold out. After spending an entire week trying to purchase something as simple as poi balls, making multiple trips, waiting in line, searching for an ATM, and never being able to reach anyone by phone, I'm extremely disappointed. Better communication, answering the phone, posting when you're cash only, or updating customers when items are sold out would have saved me a lot of time and frustration. Unfortunately, this experience has convinced me not to return, and I can't recommend this business based on the service I received.
