Shame I can't leave six stars because Leone's is my favorite place for pizza. I used to live in Somerville and I got their pizza all the time. They have actual sausage in their pizza, not the crumbly rat poison you get anywhere else. Everything is fresh and tastes amazing! They have the best pizza if you're like me and you like crust on your pizza. It's fantastic cold the next day or just pop it into the toaster oven. Leone's is definitely a case of "if you grew up eating it, you think it's the best" kinda pizza. It IS good pizza, the Sicilian-style at least (only kind I've had). The crust is good, the cheese is good, sauce is decent... no complaints. I am not one of those people who grew up eating it my whole life, so I don't think it's the "best". But that doesn't mean it's bad. It's great pizza and better than you'll get at the majority of places in Boston. Delivery was quick for me, via delivery.com I believe (ordered through yelp). But I don't expect to be ordering again soon just due to the fees. Price of the pizza was totally fine, but $7 delivery that doesn't include tip, a little steep. Same reason I gave up on door dash. Leone's is a national treasure. 22 years ago, way before Winter Hill was gentrified, let alone yuppified, my husband and I and later our kid would stand in line for the spinach Sicilian slices. We were broke, it was cheap, but mainly it was delicious filling real food. And the neighborhood knew it - you had to get there quick if you wanted in on those. They make a full tray and you get half a tray (unless you order 2). This means you only get a pizza with crust on 3 sides. Also, the dough is too soft in the middle so you're eating hot cheese and sauce on a slice of Wonder bread. They top it off with oregano from the dollar store. After nearly six years of living in Somerville, you wouldn't think I would just be discovering Leone's now, but apparently no one loved me enough to tell me that it's hands-down the BEST pizza in the area and a local institution to boot. The staff are friendly and welcoming and make you feel like a regular instantly. They sell by the slice if you want to try what's on the table. The owner clearly takes pride in his business and his neighborhood, and is a delight to chat with. And most importantly, the pizza. Is. Amazing. Thick, crunchy crust. Tons of melty gooey cheese. Any combo of toppings is as delicious as the next, but my favorite is mushrooms, peppers, onions, and pepperoni. Pizzas come in 16-inch round, half tray, or full tray. It took me three days to eat a half tray, if that tells you anything...but I didn't get tired of it once, and I was sorry to see the last piece go. If you haven't had Leone's yet, you gotta try it. Decided to stop there one night with a friend and that was after I've driven past the place about a hundred times; proceeded in and ordered one of their subs: a pastrami & egg sub and took it to go. The sub itself was very good and prices very reasonably; from memory, I don't think that I was able to finish it, it was pretty big. The staff was really friendly and parking on Broadway is fairly easy to get but unfortunately they don't offer any seating there, just a few stand up and eat counters. From chatting with the staff there apparently they've been in business for over a generation and have been there for a very long time; it's very impressive and cool to know that such places are still striving after so many years. Pizza that is simply delicious. Leone's makes a very very good Sicilian style pizza. Nice crust with a crispy bottom, real cheese, tasty sauce. Their pizza at room temperature or straight out of the fridge is clearly superior to most other pizza fresh out of the oven. I don't know how or why, but it is. It is also pretty inexpensive. A half try will easily feed 3-4. A full tray and you have a party. I also had a pretty good meatball sub here once. It inspired me to choose meatballs as the pizza topping on my next order and I did not regret it. Why not 5 stars? They don't deliver which means I can't get it as often as I would like to. Call me an entitled Millennial, but don't blame me for wanting more Leone's. They also don't really have any tables so it is take out early. Even if the pizza gets a bit cold on the walk/drive home, don't worry. Not only is their pizza perfectly delicious at all temperatures, Sicilian Pizza also reheats really well in the oven. Hands down my favorite place for Pizza in Somerville, and probably all of Boston. They always have a tray or two of Sicilian pizza slices available out front, but if you want more they have half size and full size trays for reasonable prices. They also have a variety of subs that are all delicious, but you have to try one with their sauce. There are various subs with sauce on it (meatballs, sausage, eggplant, steak), or you can even go off book and order a large with sauce. I used to live around the corner, but even now that I've moved away, I still come back whenever I'm in the area. Ordered a tray of Sicilian, barely no sauce. Cooked well and tasted decent. I order a chicken parm. It looked good but looks can be deceiving. Chicken was dry and not breaded. I took the chicken out and it was grilled like actual grill marks. I have never seen this done. It wasn't very good at all. I ordered a turkey sub. It was ok but the turkey was slimy and you could tell it wasn't quality. It's too bad places charge premium prices for low grade cold cuts. Here is some advice. Bread the chicken for a chicken parm sub. Especially is you charge 10 dollars for the sub. Just laziness. I would come here again if you paid me. read more

Highly recommend! Well this is some of the best pizza in the Boston area - I SAID IT! Got the half sheet (pepperoni and sausage) and it was more than enough food for my friend and I. And it was delicious. So freaking good. I burned my mouth more than once because I couldn't wait. Worth it. I'm not sure what exactly sets this pizza apart from other pizza, but I think the sauce must have some great spices and the cheese didn't just taste like cheese. Maybe they doctor it up? Honestly not sure. I was very happy to have stopped in here on a random Monday and this will be my go to pizza place moving forward. 4 stars because its cash only and there's no seating. There's a couple counters you can lean against but otherwise there is no where to relax. A chair or two would prob bump this up to 5 stars (even being cash only) because they do have an ATM in the restaurant, so you won't have to go exploring to get cash. read more

Great pizza when it's done right. Every time I get a sheet I have to put it back in the oven. The half sheet is essentially the same issue but if I ask for it crispy it's usually okay. The slices tend to be more well done which is great but too many times the full pizza was not caramelized enough and the dough was not cooked through. This has happened on pizzas that had 2 or more vegetable toppings. To much moisture and it's such a let down when the pizza comes out this way. Leone's is way better than you would expect from the price and location: The sauce is tangy (a rarity among cheap greasy pizzas), and the crust is perfectly bready but crunchy on the edges. It's also really thick--this pizza fills you up quickly! Leone's weak point in the pizza trifecta is the cheese: although the mozzarella flavor is there, the cheese tends to form thick clumps instead of melting nicely. But at $11 for a 16" cheese pizza, I can't complain too much. Although I have an aversion to green peppers, I still managed to stuff my face with the Leone's Special, which is generously topped with the aforementioned devil vegetable as well as mushrooms, Italian sausage, and pepperoni. All the ingredients tasted fresh and high quality, except the pepperoni, which was flimsy and bland. For gourmet pizza, I'll go somewhere else, but Leone's is tasty, reliable, and a good value.
