Dynamite tasting breakfast sandwiches! Service was very friendly, though not overly fast- but for good reason, they are making your sandwich to order. Asked for a bacon egg and cheese on a croissant. 4 slices of bacon and a good 2 eggs made this sandwich delicious. Also tried the meat pie and egg roll, because, why not? The meat pie had a great spice to it and was hot from a temperature standpoint even after a 20 minute walk back to the house. Egg roll tasted like an egg roll. Not much ambiance to the place, but there are several tables you can sit at, though everyone I saw was getting carry out. A constant stream of customers, though not crowded.

This little café was located near our hotel. It was listed under cheap eats. Great little café for a hot cooked breakfast. Small and quaint but very good. food was made to order and the service was great.

This is a small old neighborhood diner sandwiched between buildings and streets. In fact, there are entrances from 2 different streets. We ordered shrimp po-boys dressed with lettuce, tomato, pickle and mayo. The bread was fresh and the shrimp were breaded and cooked perfectly. They don't skimp in the shrimp. There's some in every bite. Sides are separate, so we ordered fries. They also have hot plate lunches and that looked good as well. Was less than $30 for lunch for 2. It's local New Orleans if that's what you are looking for. I do wonder why it was named Leo's Caboose though.

Delicious, hot, homestyle food. The price was fair, the staff genuine and friendly, and the food came out quickly. Seemed to be a husband and wife running it. Definitely a local spot, not touristy. Street parking was a bit tricky to secure, but 10/10 I'd get breakfast here regularly.

Great mom and pop hole in the wall. I live not too far away and walk here once or twice a week. Super friendly staff with generous portions at a fair price. Breakfast is your standard fare with your eggs cooked to order and great daily lunch specials.

Great little hole in the wall diner- delicious meatloaf and green bean special today. It ain't fancy, but it's good grandma style cooking!

In the restaurant business, we all have a switch: once the doors open, it flips. Until then, you're seeing people exactly as they are. This team is genuine. Hands down. Yes, I know, I'm technically here for a king cake. Standing in line for a king cake from a famous fried chicken company almost feels satirical. But watching the entire team sit down together for a meal an hour before service told me everything I needed to know about the leadership and the values of this company. People matter here. You can see why the sandwiches are as good as they are. You can feel why the king cake is worth the wait. This team operates like a family; kind to one another, intentional, and connected. The food is made with care because the people are cared for. I'm not here to review the food (which is phenomenal) or the king cake. I'm here to review the brand. This is the kind of business we should be proud to support as a community. Keep it up.

With the recent rain, the usual…read morepotent French Quarter street smells were washed away, leaving the air beautifully fresh and the temperatures perfectly cool. Though pop-up showers were still lingering, my husband and I decided to take a gamble on courtyard dining--and I am so glad we did! Sheltered under the green umbrellas surrounded by historic brick walls, lush greenery, and rain-kissed citrus trees, the atmosphere was incredibly romantic and peaceful. The courtyard's intimate layout even brought a bit of extra magic to our evening. We sat near another wonderful couple (and their adorable daughter) and became fast friends, sharing laughs and conversation throughout the night. What truly anchored the experience, though, was the incredible service. The staff was remarkably personable, helpful, and welcoming. The dinner itself was excellent from start to finish, showcasing immense culinary skill across every dish. We started with the delicious brussels sprouts and a uniquely seasoned spring/summer gumbo that was unlike any version we've had before (oh, what I would give for the recipe). As for the entrées, the shrimp and grits were phenomenal, and the blackened catfish sandwich with a fresh salad was executed flawlessly...and the bread pudding was fantastic, too! It is rare to find an experience where top-tier hospitality, a breathtaking environment, and great food come together so (seemingly) effortlessly. Café Amélie is an absolute must-visit! The host was extremely welcoming and friendly. Our server and helpers were over quickly to drop off waters and greet us. I ended up ordered the salmon. With it being so early and only one or 2 other tables besides my friend and me, the food did take longer to come out than I expected it to. Both of us did thoroughly enjoy what we got. The salmon was crispy on the outside with a nice sauce over it. We thought we'd have time to get dessert so we ordered a couple but that too took a very long time. We finally waved down our server to cancel and get the check since we had to be somewhere and he apologized and said their WiFi was going in and out so it could be that it was registering on the kitchen side. That may have explained why our entrees took too long. If it wasn't for the service and the food being great - I would not be thrilled about timing. We got there around 5:30p and had to leave by 7:15p so an almost 2 hours experience that probably could have been 1 hour.

We were a party of 3 adults and 2 children (one being only 2 years old), and because of that they changed our table type from a 4-top to a 5-top and made us wait an additional 30 minutes. Meanwhile, multiple tables became available that easily could have accommodated us, but the hostess was determined to keep telling us we had to wait. To make matters worse, there was open bench seating in the back where customers ordering to-go could sit. I offered to order food to-go so we could at least sit down and get started while waiting, and she told me if I did that they would remove our name from the waitlist because "you have to pick one or the other." No willingness to problem solve whatsoever. She repeatedly said she was "sorry," but her actions showed the opposite. I was simply trying to work together to find some reasonable solution instead of continuing to watch everyone else get seated while our family, including small children, kept waiting. Absolutely horrible customer service experience.

My favorite thing we got was definitely the veggie red beans and rice. It was very balanced and cooked well. I was very excited to try their shrimp and grits, but it wasn't that great. The grits were quite grainy and didn't taste cheesy as described. They weren't creamy at all and really tasted like plain barely salted grits that could have been cooked a bit longer. The shrimp was flavorful and the sear on the outside was nice, but they were quite overcooked and tough. There was a much higher ratio of grits to shrimp and gravy than you would want, especially given the grits were not that good. However, my husband absolutely loved the chicken pasta and said it was one of the best he has ever had. They definitely can make good food but I would skip the shrimp and grits. The lemonade I ordered was also incredibly watery. The service was efficient and good overall, but very impersonal and bare minimum. Definitely efficiency prioritized over true dinner service. Not bad but not what I expected.
