A most outstanding restaurant. A small spot with a small menu (maybe 4 entrees and 5 apps) but I only regret I couldn't have all of them. I had the daily fish, fresh and fabulous, a friend had the pasta with crabmeat which was sooo delicious. Of our table of 6, three had the pasta. One had the shrimp which was baked with rice- plenty of shrimp and a good sauce. The bread pudding was fabulous and so large a serving- it was the only desert choice, better than a lot of them served in N.O. Our server was nice, sometimes confused but it's such a cozy, small place it wasn't a bother ! I heard they're looking for a bigger place but, if they move, I hope it doesn't change- it's 20 seats are perfect ! And, make a reservation at dinner on a weekend. read more

Dr. Jones is a casual restaurant in a strip mall. The restaurant is extremely small and has limited seating. The menu was eclectic and I was skeptical, but the food was delicious. We started with the Jumbo Lump Crabmeat Tagliatelle w/ Chilli Buerre Blanc & Dill and it was a great start to the meal. For my entree, I ordered the Jumbo Shrimp w/ Rice. Literally everything we ordered was so good! Dr. Jones is a tiny gem. The cozy space is perfect for a girls' night or date night. Our waiter was kind and attentive, and the service was quick. My favorites were the mussels, crab noodles, crispy fried oysters, and the steak au poivre. The steak was perfectly paired with a fresh green vegetable side that balanced the dish really well. Had a great lunch here recently with great friends. I believe reservations are a must as the number of seats are limited. The hostess also served as the waitress and was very helpful and attentive. I ordered several small plates for my meal. I had the fried oysters, beet salad, and shrimp bisque. The fried oysters were delightfully crisp with a wonderful and unusual sauce and salad. At first, I had the thought of asking for tartar sauce, but as soon as I ate the oyster with the salad and sauce, I was excited by the flavors presented. The shrimp bisque was also a surprise. Instead of the traditional creamy bisque, this one had a brown, very flavorful broth. Much more like a great gumbo than a bisque, but I loved it and could have licked the bowl for the wonderful sauce. The last was the beet salad and it was the least exciting. The food was good but not exceptional. The mussels were good but the broth didn't have the depth of flavor that I've had at other places in town and look for. The toast points with the mussels were over oiled. We had the beet salad with feta it was nice, fresh fruit and herbs with the tangy cheese worked really well. My wife had the jumbo lump tagliatelle, it was good but not great, a crab pasta that most places in New Orleans can meet if not beat. The dining area was loud and tight and could turn unpleasant if anyone decides to move around or stand up too fast. The food and service were very good. I ordered the mushroom gnocchi and my husband ordered the steak au poivre. We shared the bread pudding for dessert. Everything was honestly delicious. My only critique is that the restaurant is tiny and where we sat felt very cramped. This tiny place is amazing! Seats maybe 20 people inside and four outside. On street and lot parking. Wood tables and slate floors. We had the tapioca and Camembert croquettes. Savory and rich with light breading and Parmesan sprinkle, grilled shrimp with spices on coconut rice with a miirliton slaw. Lightly spicy and very fresh. Looking for a gem? Look no further.... You simply can't pass it up. Small with a powerful punch doesn't equate to my impression of the food nor the service. This place deserves more publicity than it's getting but I personally love the small feel. No way we can hold them from growing based off of the lunch I just had but it's my hope they remember the small things. We had the crispy oysters and salmon as apps. F'n phenomenal! Then the fish sandwich and jumbo shrimp as entrees. My friend said the fish sandwich(drum) was great. The jumbo shrimp wasn't what I expected but I prefer it how it was served. Kudos to these guys. My friend and I ate at Dr. Jones's on January 27, 2026. I had their fish sandwich which was grouper, to be honest the fish wasn't bad tasting but the bun was mediocre at best and the sandwich only came with potato chips. My friend had the oysters which he said wasn't bad however, both of us left the restaurant still hungry so we're now eating at another place to get full. I think for the price they charge they are way overpriced and unfortunately, as much as I wanted to like the place I will not be going back. They also have a very limited menu and they don't offer any sides with your dishes you order. read more

The space is very cozy and inviting, perfect afternoon feel. I already can't wait to go back. One of the best restaurants in the city! The food was absolutely incredible; the flavors, textures was of such a high culinary expertise. Our attendant took excellent care of us, and what seems like the entire restaurant seamlessly and with such courteousness, please let him know what a wonderful job that he did. We've had food from other highly decorated restaurants in New Orleans that did not impress nearly as much. It is cozy, but comfortable, although when full it can get a bit noisy.
