great service

Leo's Cafe has moved to another location in McDonough and still serves well-portioned meal for a modest price.

Entrance.

The new location is nice and spacious. You still get the same great service from all the staff and the food is right behind. There is a pretty good variety of meals to order so there's something for everyone. I have eaten breakfast and lunch with no disappointments. Come hungry because the portions are good size and tough to finish. They have beer on draft and mimosas for brunch. Lunch was busy and the parking lot looked more packed than it was. There is a very large bar top area for overflow seating so don't be scared by the parking lot.

Garden Omelette (with mushrooms, onion, bell pepper and cheddar cheese) Home Fries Wheat Toast Coffee

I met up with some other moms for breakfast at Leo's. I'd never heard of it before this, but glad I had a chance to check it out! I ordered a garden omelette (made with egg whites) with home fries and a coffee. All omelettes come with toast. The garden is a veggie option where you choose the add ins. I had mushrooms, onions, bell peppers, and cheddar. I didn't realize until my bill came that the cheese was an extra charge, but I truly didn't mind it. The service was lightening fast and the workers were so kind and helpful; clearly committed to helping us have a good experience. My food came out less than ten minutes after I ordered it. I joked with the other moms that I wished it had taken them longer as my home fries didn't have any crusting. I was late so was able to partially base my order on what I saw on other people's plates. The home fries I saw before I ordered had clearly stuck to the skillet a little bit to get a little crunch on them; that was the feature that sold me on the home fries over the grits...but, alas, mine were crunch free. They were perfectly tender however. I had to add salt to everything on my plate; it was clearly all kicked without seasoning. The food was fine but not amazing. Overall, this was a solid diner experience. I'd go again if I was in the area and would order something different. The menu is full of variety and there was a steady stream of regular customers so something keeps the people coming back!

My husband and I popped into Leo's Café for the first time to grab a quick breakfast, and we were genuinely impressed. We tried the Chelsea Boy, an egg white omelet packed with grilled chicken and spinach and it was absolutely delicious. The grits and English muffin on the side made it a perfect, satisfying meal. We were seated right away, our food came out fast, and the whole place had that welcoming, classic diner charm. Service was friendly and efficient. Looking forward to coming back and exploring more of the menu! For the two of us it was 35 dollars before tip.

Cheese grits

"I was disappointed" is an understatement! This take-out order was one of the worst I've had. The steak was tasteless, no flavor at all. The fries were average. The chicken drummettes were ok. Cheese grits = runny grits + slice of unmelted cheese (thrown in trash). The presentation, as you can see, leaves much to be desired. Management/Owners, PLEASE DO BETTER! This was the worst first impression of a restaurant I have had in a long time. I was really hoping this would be good - this place has been established for a few years now. Southern Fusion in Locust Grove is far better.

Reuben with Pastrami, other meats to choose
Kelley M.

Very Generous Portions. A hungry man will walk away happy. I got the Reuben with Pastrami. I would get corned beef or turkey next time because I personally need a lighter meat. My complaint with most restaurants is scrimping on the ingredients especially saurkraut and cheese, but Leo's does a fine job. I was also able to get an Espresso, which was good. The service was excellent. I was actually confused on who my server was because they all, not only speak to you and Very friendly, but help you the whole time. I hope they get to share tips and keep that in mind and tip good. Full friendly staff, which is hard to come by now!

The service here was amazing. They brought out the food quickly and fresh. The food was so good. The coffee was great and everything in Leo's bowl was well prepared and seasoned. The staff was incredibly friendly as well as the atmosphere and one of the owners was serving food with his workers.

One of the best restaurants in McDonough, service and food is always excellent. Love Leo's

We used to have family in the area, but unfortunately haven't been down here in 5 years as a result of them not being in the area anymore. When we used to stop in, the service was unbeatable. Everyone would treat you like family, and would get you your food fast. Now, since the restaurant is under ***new ownership***, we are not sure if that is still the case. Our server was great (she remembered our family even after 5 years (connected the dots to us)), but the rest of the employees and the community within the restaurant felt a bit stuffy. They used to have the best coffee. It is still good now, but something changed (not quite as good). Their pancakes are unfortunately rubbery, but contrastively, they have great bacon; crisp with a bit of fat, that's how we like it. Their hash browns have not changed one bit. They are still crispy!! Some stuff has changed in the atmosphere of the restaurant. They generally have the same theme, but some of the signs have changed. If you get lucky, you may get to eat your food with Shaquille O'Neal in the restaurant! He lives in the area, and comes in every now and then to get some food and pay for everybody's meal. What a great guy!

Breakfast dates with myself hit different at Eggs Up Grill…read more This was one of those simple, satisfying, no-notes mornings. I ordered a classic breakfast--crispy bacon, well-seasoned sausage patties, eggs cooked just right, and a fresh fruit bowl that actually felt fresh. Not an afterthought. A moment. The coffee? Hot, strong, and served in that cozy mug that makes you slow down and stay a little longer. And let's talk about the space--bright, cheerful, clean, and welcoming. The wall art alone tells you this place understands joy before noon. Service was easy, friendly, and efficient without rushing the vibe. I was hungry so that could've impacted my opinion on it but the steak and the eggs were well cooked and seasoned in my opinion. My boyfriend's street corn steak bowl, however, was small and mildly disappointing. There was barely any steak. The pancakes were really good ones, actually, but the fact that they didn't have real maple syrup knocked this place down from 3.5 to 3 stars.

There seems to be plenty of parking on the street as well as the lot behind the building. It was around noon when I arrived and they were serving their brunch menu. I had the Honey Butter Chicken Biscuit that came with eggs and a side of grits. The biscuit was large, soft, and toasted and the fried chicken on top crisp and seasoned well. It was sweet from the honey. The eggs (I had them scrambled) were fine, but nothing remarkable. The grits were quite spicy for my taste, but I'm a wimp from the Midwest so they were probably great. I enjoyed everything. I would have liked an unsweetened iced tea, but only sweet tea was available. I had a fountain soft drink instead of. The restaurant was light and airy. The furniture was a bit worn and the dishes were plain white plastic but on the whole it was a lovely place. My server was pleasant and attentive.

There is also street parking. Wait to be seated. Best to have a reservation during peak hours. Weekend brunch and evenings I imagine to be busy. QR code menu. NOTE if you go during brunch and you get a cocktail from the menu you won't see the prices for brunch. That is part of the reason for the low rating. Even though the drink menu says the days and hours for those prices, you have to ask for the after those hours. The menu has your typical southern brunch flare with a twist. The drink menu is good. I ordered the impossible burger slider, it doesn't come with anything. Just two sliders. I ordered the potatoes. Even though the sliders were decent. It was a little salty. Presentation was good. Watermelon savage. I also tried the scrambled eggs - way too salty. It was inedible. My brunch partner didn't like the grits or chicken biscuit that it came with. Service was fine. Decor and atmosphere was nice. Overall, it was decent. It seems like a nice place to grab drinks and catch a vibe or be the vibe. Gratuity is included. Overall, decent spot. Sometimes, a lady just wants a cocktail…read more Summary: Good spot. Would visit again. In this economy, you're going to spend more than you'd like. The strip mall entrance and parking a bit of a challenge. Full review below: I went in Saturday afternoon. It was lightly busy but fully staffed so help/attention came quick. Dining solo so I opted for a seat at the bar. Bartender was super attentive. Didn't have to wait long for a menu or to place my order. Also, she regularly checked in on how everything was. I ordered the Yellow Diamond Martini ($15) and it was delicious. I got the fried green tomatoes (4 pieces) for $11.95. Complimentary very tall cup of water. The tomatoes were a little small so this is definitely an appetizer/light snack...which is A-OK for me. It came out shortly after my martini was ready. Overall, minus tip, it came to $29. Music was playing through a speaker but not too loud. People could comfortably have a conversation. There are multiple tvs throughout. I appreciated that some of them were showing stuff other than sports. One monitor, near the restroom, is devoted to Culturistic Kitchen content, which is smart. I did use the restroom. It's two stalls and two sinks. The non-handicap/ADA stall is tiny. I'm like a medium-sized woman who is 5'7 and even I was like yikes. When the place is busy/packed I could see a wait or a line for the bathroom. The one major downside...which is not Culturistic Kitchen's fault is that the strip mall is not easy to get out of and onto the main road (Jodeco Rd) especially if you're turning left. The parking lots for all the shops, which are great businesses, should be bigger than it is. Don't be surprised if, during peak times, you may have to park 1-2 doors down from the restaurant. Overall, I would go again. I don't go out to eat that often (there's food at the house ) but if I want a good cocktail and a light snack or try some of their regular food items, I would come again. More than likely, I'd choose an off-peak time because I wouldn't want to experience it at near full capacity but that's just me.

I personally prefer the shrimp and will try the salmon during my next visit. The pasta doesn't come with a protein. The downside is each protein you add costs an additional $10. The portion was huge. So, if you don't eat a lot, order one serving of Rasta Pasta and add the proteins that the two of you would like to try and it's an inexpensive date!
