Got take out and the food was so crappy! I've never seen such pathetic potstickers - bland lumps of chicken wrapped in thick chewy dough that's hard to bite into or swallow. I could taste the raw flour in it. Yuck! Kung Pao had so much soy sauce we hardly had a few bites. Gen Tso's had chicken breast chunks that were dry and way too much batter. What made it worse was the sweet sauce that tasted like syrup. Chicken teriyaki was totally dry and very bland... probably because there was hardly any teriyaki sauce! This review is solely for their roasted duck dish. I came in for dinner super hungry and saw that they have roasted duck on the menu, which happens to be my favorite dish. Anyways, the roasted duck itself was unacceptable. It was a unseasoned, deep fried (not roasted), cut up into pieces duck. The meat was dry and had an odor. Definitely not roasted duck. Don't put roasted duck on the menu if you can't make it well. The presentation is nice, hence the 2 stars. The dish came with a bowl of delicious sweet sauce on the side, but I came for the duck. Went there on Saturday night with my husband along with our granddaughter. This is the first time we had been here and it was less than mediocre from the start. Our first clue should have been an empty restaurant at 6:00 on Saturday nite. But we sat down and the waitress came over for drink orders. No tea at this place; they charge you for it. Anyway, we ordered drinks. My granddaughter's lemonade was made with powdered mix. That was an indication of things to come. Beef skewer appetizer was inedible. Tougher than shoe leather and deep fried in same oil used for fish. We ordered large hot and sour soup. The waitress put it into our individual cups and took away the remainder. Shrimp prawns were cold with a cloyingly sweet sticky sauce and we didn't eat those either. Sorry, now I'm rambling...bottom line, worst Chinese food I've ever had. If I'm in the mood for chinese food, Leo's Kitchen is my go to spot. I absolutely love Leo's orange chicken and chow mein, and their wonton soup makes a great appetizer. Mongolian beef was good but had to many green onions. 4.2 stars Sesame chicken a little dry and plain. 3 stars Cashew chicken, the sauce tasted different than I've had anywhere else and it did'nt have any vegetables in it. (WTF) I've never seen that before. 2.8 stars Chow mein, It did'nt have any vegetables in it. (WTF) I've never seen that before, but it tasted better than it looked. 3.2 stars Lastly the pork fried rice. 3 stars So I might come back to try some more lunch specials but it will not be in a hurry. read more

First off, I will tell you I'm usually SO skeptical and picky when it comes to Chinese places. From the usual questionable meat (is it rat, cat or dog I'm biting into?) to the dirty, grimy looks of the restaurant, I usually stick with PF Changs or Panda Express. I'm white, cut me some slack! My sister and our two kiddos went here for dinner lastnight for the first time. I had high expectations from reading this Yelp reviews prior to going. The staff wasn't the friendliest, but overall, the food was REALLY good. There are two reasons I'm only giving 4 stars. 1) The staff wasn't friendly or accomodating 2) they charge $2.50 for two springrolls. Other than that, the place was very, very clean and even still smelled new inside. The food was like I said, REALLY good. I've been searching for an "American" Chinese food place in Roseville, and Leo's Kitchen fits the bill. You know what I mean - that take-out style place from college that got you through late night study sessions. Not only are the owners/staff friendly, pleasant, and professional, the restaurant is always clean and is well decorated. They package to-go orders well and give you a lot of food for the price. My favorites are the broccoli beef, the walnut shrimp (which isn't too sickly-sweet), and the snow pea beef. They do something to the beef to make it really tender, which I love, and the vegetables are cooked to perfection. I also like the sizzling rice soup and the shrimp chop suey. I always get some house fried rice - full of meat, vegetables, and flavor. There are also surprises from other cuisines on the menu, so be sure to take a look at everything offered. I was kind of nervous ordering take out here after reading they give weak portions when you order to go.. but that was not the case (Thank Goodness)! Personable and friendly staff that can recommend dishes based on a conversation - check! We had the veggie lo mein, the crispy chicken and the obligatory sweet and sour chicken (baby steps, people, baby steps). I don't know how to express it, but t hey all tasted so clean and fresh.. None compare to the fresh delight of Leo's Kitchen. The place is clean and has good service. So what if one of the servers has limited English. One of the best Chinese food places I have ever been too. I ordered the Teriyaki Chicken Lunch Combo Plate, and with that got a delightful soup Egg Drop Soup, I also got Teriyaki Chicken, Fried Rice, and a Egg-roll. My husband and I went in on a Tuesday before catching a $5 movie at Blue Oaks. It was around 5-5:30 pm, so I wasn't surprised that the place was completely empty. Still, the combination of high Yelp reviews and the restaurant's brand new facade gave me high hopes. We ended up ordering orange chicken, walnut shrimp, chow mein, and fried rice. All in all, I'd say it was just okay. The sauce on the orange chicken was bland and a bit watery; the shrimp was small, overly breaded, and paired with wilted, shredded lettuce; the noodles were starchy and a bit on the lukewarm side; and the fried rice was salty. I was also a tad disappointed that the food took so long, considering we were the only ones there at the time. The service was alright--our waiter was there at the beginning to get our orders and there at the end to provide the bill. Lunch special: Pretty good for the money I work at HP and live on Foothills, so this location is great for my two Chinese food needs: 1. Something close to the office with a lunch special 2. On my way home to grab take-out I went in with very high hopes based on the quantity of great reviews received. I ordered the Kung Pao Chicken lunch special which included hot & sour soup, chow mein, and an egg roll. The hot & sour soup was quite tasty, but the entree overall seemed kind of bland. For kung pao chicken it was not very spicy or interesting, just chicken bits, peanuts, and chilis in a pretty generic sauce. The egg roll was ok, and as someone else commented, the chow mein was plain, not even any cabbage in it, which was unusual to me. A $6 lunch special with all that it included meant that for $10 with a soda and tip I was nice and full, but it wasn't the kind of lunch where it was soo delicious I couldn't get enough. That said, I haven't been here for dinner, maybe it's different or better. Perhaps the lunch specials are such a good price for a reason, I'm not sure. Horrible. Simply horrible. Yes we came here on Xmas, but the food shouldn't be as bad as it was. I understand that the service was slow, but the food came out cold and tasteless. We ordered egg rolls: they were hot and good 20 minutes later came out the broccoli beef, steamed rice and orange beef. The broccoli beef was COLD and looked dried out from sitting for a long period of time. The orange beef was luke warm, flavourless and overly battered. Steamed rice was COLD and dried out. 15 minutes later we finally flagged down a server and asked here our last two items were. They brought them out a minute later. This brings me to the chicken chow mein and walnut shrimp. SMH. The chicken chow mein was hot, good flavor but over salted. The walnut shrimp was over battered, overly salted, cold and fried too long. My final thoughts: Don't go here!!!! It's pretty good Americanized Chinese food. The combo dinner comes with a choice of soup: hot and sour, wonton, or egg drop. The wonton soup comes with 3 wontons and a nice broth. The beef chow fun is pretty saucy for the dry option and if you're a meat person you might be disappointed. I had about 4 very small pieces of meat. The combo dinner is the best value. I am Chinese and this is clearly clearly the best Chinese food in Roseville no ands ifs or buts. This place does classic Chinese Soul Food that no one else in Roseville will attempt or can do. Plus you can special order dishes homemade from a different era done in a classic fashion. Their Homestyle Curry Chicken rivals the best I have ever had. It is not on the menu but has to be special ordered. The steamed Salted fish pork hash is the best I have ever eaten. Julie and Stephen are very accommodating and will make the classic homestyle dishes not on the menu and great wait staff. Another dish not on the menu is the Maine Lobster Lo Mein. Came here after we discovered the Vietnamese place across the street had closed. What a delightful experience. First of all, it's clean. And our waitress was engaging and improvised a pair of child-friendly chopsticks for our four-year old. While all our dishes were tasty, what stood out for me were the potstickers. Big, with thick skins and perfectly seasoned meat. They could have been a meal by themselves. Both the wonton soup and eggflower soup were delicious. My only concern was that my Kung Pao Chicken was not spicy enough, though next time I'll ask for extra chili peppers and I am sure it will be fine. I was good but not great. It is very close by, so I'm sure I will try again. The peas in the won ton soup were not cooked through, still dry and hard. The pot-stickers were more of a true dumpling, which I was not expecting. I am a big pot sticker guy and wasn't a fan. The mongolian beef was very tasty but I found the chive onions in it to be dry and stringy. The fried rice was very good, will definitely do that one again.
