I live and breath this place. I have been coming here for years and I'm surprised I haven't written a review yet. My main go to dishes are the salt and pepper shrimp accompanied with roasted duck(yes, I'm an animal). This is one of the only places I can find that offers the shrimp with shell on. My advice to you, order it and eat it whole! It sounds crazy but the texture is phenomenal and it really makes the dish way better. The duck is also outstanding, juicy on the inside and crisp on the outside. If you work here and are reading this, I need your sauce recipe for this dish. Seriously. So good. They also offer great lunch specials and service. Don't forget about the oolong tea. A personal favorite of mine. Anyway. Everyone reading this, go there now. Hands down some of the BEST won ton soup I've ever had. I went here for lunch before this shelter in place thing, and wow. Generous portions, and the fact we can choose our soup is very cool. I've had the orange and general chicken, with fried rice. The sauce isn't too sickly sweet, not enough spice for me which is nothing that chili sauce or mustard cannot solve. I came in yesterday for lunch and tried the Hunan chicken. The Good : $ 7.75 for my lunch special which included soup. The Hot and sour soup and the egg roll were good. Free wireless ( good signal too ). The bad: The temperature of the food was lukewarm, and the entree portion was a little small. Also, it was supposed to be a spicy dish, but it wasnt very spicy at all, and there was no chili paste on the tables, so I couldnt add to the heat value. There were small portions of the fried rice that were still white. The ugly: When I asked for the wifi password, the guy up front just took my phone from me, and entered it himself. We used to really like this place but the food quality seems to be diminishing. We got general chicken with rice combo, sweet and sour chicken with chow mein combo, and hot and sour soup. Everything was oversalted. General chicken was sweet with barely any spicy flavor. Hot and sour soup was bland. No vegetables in it either. Good parts: rice was OK, sweet and sour chicken was fine, and it was nice of them to separate the chicken and sweet n sour sauce for our to-go order. Service was OK. Good food! I like this place for the combination platter option in their dinner menu. Usually, the combo items are only available for lunch elsewhere and dinner is most of the time served a la carte. We came here on Christmas Day and was glad they were open. The restaurant was busy with lots of people standing by the door (not sure if they were waiting for their 'to go' orders or waiting to be seated but they were all crowded up in the front inside since it was too cold to hang out outside). We were seated immediately. Looked through the menu and dinner combo selection looked pretty good. Included with the $10.50 dish was the soup of the day (wonton, hot & sour, or egg drop soup), egg roll, crab rangoon, and rice or chow mein. I ordered the Mongolian Beef w/ fried rice and they adjusted the spiciness to my preference of not spicy at all. It was delicious and came in a good serving. I had the egg drop soup and it was perfect for the cold weather. Since it was the only game in town that was open Christmas Day and was close to our home the servers were understandably busy and took awhile to get our food but it was worth the wait considering. Any cosmopolitan culturally diverse restaurant patron acquires enough discretionary experience to determine cultural authenticity of most menus. It is apparent, limited self taught home Chinese cooks fled to Roseville to pretend they can recreate Chinese cuisine. They are hoping the average Roseville resident is too globally unsophisticated to know the difference between mediocre American Chinese from more authentic overseas originated Chinese preparations. Leo's Kitchen is, unfortunately, one of most mediocre versions of Chinese cuisine in Roseville, CA. Living only a few minutes from this place and very hungry, I tried Leo's Kitchen just recently and ordered Wor Won Ton and spring rolls which is always an important indicator of how the rest of the menu will taste. If this restaurant tried to endure in San Francisco, it would have had to shut down due to lack of patronage. In S.F. Bay Area, it is commonly known that when there are more nonChinese patrons than Chinese customers, then it is a definite negative. As a months long recent new resident from San Franciso, I will have to drive miles back to San Francisco Bay Area to enjoy culturally authentic Chinese dinners, unfortunately. Actually, buying frozen Chinese meals from Trader Joe's is currently a better option in contrast to what most Roseville Chinese restaurants serve. Example of one of the dishes I ordered was Wor Won Ton soup. It was loaded with thawed commercial peas and carrots, sparse bits of seafood, and cabbage leaves. The filled won tons had a mushy texture and taste. Maybe the cooks are amateur self taught and were lucky to get a business food license in a suburban city where the level of dining discretion is still trying to rise above the chain fast food standards. Spring Rolls were mealy and heavy and over fried. For anyone who has never patronized Chinese restaurants focusing on undiluted Asian cuisine, as I have for decades, then anything with the word Chinese food will be found acceptable. Leo's is extremely unacceptable to my experiences of enjoying genuine Asian cuisine. read more

Ordered the sweet-and-sour pork and it was so dry and tasteless. I asked if it was chicken and he said no. I could not eat it. It was like cardboard. Made the mistake of ordering the lemon grass chicken to go for dinner but once I tasted the pork, I tried to cancel it, but it was too late. He said the lemon grass chicken had a fish sauce on it, but not only was there no lemon grass whatsoever. There was no sauce just dry slices of chicken, which is very falsely advertised. Another one bites the dust! What happened? Idk? I'm updating my review with a downgrade. Leo's was one of my favorite Chinese restaurants and it was good at the time of my review. It had been some time since then and we happen to come in for lunch on a Sunday. Although it's great that they have lunch specials on the weekend, I would've gladly paid extra for food more decent. We ordered the General chicken, chicken chow mein, cashew chicken, and sweet and sour chicken lunch specials. The lunch specials come with your choice of egg flower or hot n sour soup and white rice or fried. Hence why we ordered chow mein. The egg flower soup was bland and the hot n sour soup was over seasoned, more salty than sour. The cashew chicken was odd. There were no veggies, the cashews were soft, no celery or crunch which I'm used to, in cashew chicken. It was so odd that although I hate to complain, I knew after taking a bite, I wouldn't take another and I had to tell my server. The cashews were soft and it almost tasted like teriyaki chicken. She was glad to replace it and I asked for sweet n sour chicken. The general chicken was fried hard and not desirable. The chow mein was decent. The chicken in both the sweet and sour and general's was super dry and tough. My order came out when everyone else had enough of their meal. The batter on the sweet n sour chicken was over cooked and the chicken was dry. The fried rice was pathetic with lots of dried up hard grains, uhh, not okay, especially when you just opened a half an hour ago. Leo's used to be good but I'm not sure what happened? I'm guessing that they have a new cook? Highly unlikely we'll return, it's going to require a long time to forget the taste of our meal read more

The pork potstickers are pretty amazing - and even better baked in the oven the next day. They are more doughy than others but so so good. Unfortunately that and the friendliness of the staff is where the amazingness kind of stopped. Really wanted to like this place since Chinese food options seem to lack in the area. But it was just ok. The hot and crispy beef was good but had a weird burnt aftertaste. The walnut shrimp seemed like it was just baked breaded shrimp with sauce drizzled on. Not bad, but not really good either and the breading seemed odd for honey walnut shrimp. The general chicken was pretty tasty. I'll give it another shot for sure- the staff that gave us our takeout was super nice and looks like a quaint place to dine indoors when that becomes a thing again. Simply average Chinese food, think of Panda Express but more costly. We ordered the mixed appetizer with 6 different items for two. 5 of 6 were dismal. One bite and left unfinished. The ribs were okay but cold. Ordered Mongolian beef, Walnut Chicken, and Pork Egg Foo Young to get the full spectrum. We were looking for a DimSum restaurant. I came across Leo's on Yelp. The other day we went and had lunch. I ordered General Chicken and Mrs. got the Egg plant. Both were delicious. The GC was just a bit crunchy and chewy( perfect) and very tasty . The Egg plant was melt in your mouth. We both had soup and house fried rice. Very glad we went. I don't know how I have not written a review for my family and I's favorite local Chinese restaurant. We have been coming here for at least 10+ years and have always enjoyed it. When our kids were smaller this used to be our once a week place to come and as things got more complicated with sports schedules etc it became more date night for my wife and I and a ton of take out. The owners here are awesome as well as all the staff that works here. We literally just had to go food from here on Thursday night of this week. I always love coming a few minutes early and shooting the breeze with the owner and just catching up about family and modern events. This time due to a busted up foot and caught in a cast was not able to as normal. Funny because the owner even asked where I was and shows how much they care about each customer. This week it was all about our favorites since its just pretty much the wife and myself. Which is sad but no arguments about what to or not to get because all of our kids all have there's but the mutual favorites remain the same. Pan fried pot stickers- its amazing something so simple is crewed up by so many. Leo's however has the best pot stickers I have had., They are steamed perfectly and then quickly pan fried on the bottom for that perfect crunch. They also never skimp on the pork filling either. My youngest used to get this as her meal because she hated sharing the others with her sisters. LOL...they are that good. Kung Pan Chicken- Just the right amount of spicy and they will kick it up if you want to. Always fresh always delicious and never skimp on any of the ingredients. Szechuan Beef- This is my personal favorite because they don't overcook the beef at all and is always so delicious and served with shaved carrots. Won ton soup-like many have pointed out the best in town. We have friends that order with extra pork and that's my favorite way but my wife loves just the way it comes and absolutely loves the dumplings. They put the same care into these as they do the potstickers. Generals or Orange chicken-Hard to choose because they are both so good. When all our girls were at=t home we used to have to order 2 portions of this because they would fight not literally over this because this was hands down their favorite dish. Now we have ventured all over their menu but we usually come right back to these. All off their chow mains and rice combos are great and have tried them all and we usually revert back to the pork option s because their pork is super delicious and feel like some of the main dishes we like are chicken base so why not change it up. Everything is always fresh and always delicious and we always love coming here...Roseville we need to support Leo's and keep them a thriving part of our community. read more

Since moving to Roseville my chinese takeout game has dropped dramatically because I can't find decent Chinese food around here, so I usually cook my own. But I'm pregnant and I'm tired of cooking. On to the food. It was hot and fresh tasting. Not super oily or greasy Mapo tofu: i started eating this with rice and was so disappointed I was going to rage review this restaurant based on this dish alone. They should take this off the menu. It is awful. It tastes nothing like mapo tofu should taste. I've eaten more mapo tofu than most I would think and this is not it. The flavor is bland and taste like the same ubiquitous brown sauce they cook everything else in. Where's the doubanjiang?! This dish is a 1 for me. Don't get it Mushrooms with bok choy: this was the opposite. This was a 5. If I only ate this I would give this place 5 stars. Great mushroomy flavor, garlicky profile, absolutely delicious and fresh tasting and a generous portion. Overall. Maybe they do some things well and others horrible. Regardless I'll leave it up to you to try but don't get the mapo tofu. read more

Leo's kitchen is our "go to Chinese food restaurant". We have been going here for about 4 years now. Always consistent food. We have never gotten ill from eating here. Everything is yummy from the soups to the appetizers (we were bad and ordered their appetizers... crispy gau gee, char siu, ribs, etc). Their selection is great and they have lunch plate specials (protein with your choice of fried rice or noodles and either an egg roll or cream cheese puff AND soup). I was craving so hard for noodles the other day so I went here for dinner and ordered the beef chow mein. It was pretty delicious and definitely satiated my craving. I also had the crab rangoons, which are filled with crab and cream cheese and come with sweet and sour sauce and spicy mustard to dip. Those were so bomb! My hungover fiancé ordered a bowl of the egg drop soup and we were quite surprised at the size when it came out. A bowl is actually like a small pot so it was perfect to share for a small group. Given the fact that this place just opened, I think 3 stars is more than generous. My co-workers and I decided that today would be the day to try this place. We had all been looking forward to it for weeks now. We walked in and the place still smells fresh and clean. Tacky was the extra carpeting used for floor mats at the front door. But the place did look nice. . The chandelier was a nice touch. They have a menu the clearly states what they offer for lunch specials. We were told at the register that they made a mistake and that they can't include the soup. Lame, but average price for a lunch special was like$6, so we over looked it. They also give you a choice of steamed or fried rice, but neglect to tell you that the fried rice is pork fried rice. If I was vegetarian I would be pissed. But, those of us who had either kind were happy. Cooked nicely, great flavor, everything fried rice should be. Where they lose points with me is service. The menu clearly states 10% off for the grand opening till the end of May. None of us got a discount today. We walked in at ten till noon, I waited 28 minutes for my food. 28! I kept telling myself that it better be the best damn lemon chicken i have ever tasted. It wasn't. Besides the tub of over sweetened lemon sauce they gave me, the chicken was dry. The crab ragoons I got were crispy, but all I tasted was cream cheese. Barely any crab. My boss ordered the walnut shrimp, and order of the fried string beans. She said nothing lacked in her meal. Another one of us had the teriyaki chicken. Again, dry, and barely any flavor, it needed more sauce. Another ordered the broccoli beef, again, awesome. The beef was tasty and cooked perfectly. The last of us ordered Mongolian beef and a side of pot stickers. She said the beef was great, her egg roll that came with her meal was good, like all of ours were, but the packers were so unappetizing and nasty she couldn't eat them. The outside was rubber and the inside was like refried beans mixed with dog food. Not what she wanted in a chicken pot sticker. All in all it was ok. Tried chicken noodle soup, was disappointed that they used sauteed chicken cooked in oil and sweet brown sauce making this oily and unhealthy oily. This was glazed over soggy egg noodles. The item should be renamed to "Sauteed chicken in brown sauce" over noodles. The broth on the side was bland and generic. Hoping this was more of plain boiled chicken with chicken based broth as how most chinese restaurants cook it. The spring roll was dry, hard and chewy. I've had multiple experiences with Leo's kitchen, both take out and dine in. When dining in, I've always gotten seated right away. All of their tables and booths are clean, not ripped or have food crumbs from prior customers. I normally come for dinner because it's too far of a drive from work to go get lunch, but their lunch specials are phenomenal. Decent pricing with HUGE portions. I usually end up taking half it home for left overs later. When ordering take out, our food is always ready for us upon arrival, but still piping hot so you know it's fresh. Sometimes with take out, restaurants can give smaller portions due to the container being closed when picking it up - you don't really know how much is in there.
