Avoid this place if you can... smh..we seen their business on instagram and thought we would travel the 50 min drive to check it out. We arrived. Waited in a somewhat long line. Visually watching some customers at the check stand not happy with the cashier.. when it came our turn, we asked for the famous giant sopes. I usually come here for their street tacos, which are $4 each if you pay cash. This time I got the lengua tacos and wanted cabeza too, but they were out, which was disappointing...not the first time either. I think you'll have better luck ordering cabeza at a later time, past 8pm. The tacos themselves are solid, I'd give it a 4/5. They're pretty generous with the meat and you can load up on toppings and sides, which I like. In my never ending search for new lunch spots, this is definitely going into our rotation. Found easy street parking and it wasn't crowded inside... we came early. Huge menu board: everything from your typical taqueria fare, to vegetarian burrito options, such as Italian or Asian stir fry. They also have a couple great sounding soups which I haven't seen in SF recently. I settled on the carne asada plate. Came with two big flats of grilled carne. The plate came with hot refried beans, rice, sliced avocado, and salad. The beef had tons of flavor. Coworkers got tacos and an enchilada plate. Everything was good. So I had a seriously stressful day. Spent it traveling through airports, and daydreaming about the burrito that I always go out and eat with my family after I land. It was the thought of a delicious fat veggie burrito that got me through this long exhausting day of air travel where everything seemed to go wrong. Since plump veggie burritos are strangely hard to find, I usually go to taqueria Guadalajara, who makes them well. Unfortunately they have changed their ingredients which sent me in search of something else. I tell you all this as foreshadowing to stress the kind of night I was already having. We eventually end up at Taqueria Vallarta which looks great based on reviews, photos, etc. But I noticed they don't have my usual kind of burrito, so I go up to the counter and ask if I can special order one. She says yes, and I list off the things I want in it--ONLY those things. Rice, refried pinto beans, sour cream, pico de gallo, and lettuce. Yeah, I'm picky. But I figure being as specific as possible will help. It didn't. The burrito showed up with black beans, lettuce, and some rice, and that's it. No detectable sour cream or pico. And I'm not a fan of black beans in burritos. I took it back and said I wanted refried and gave her a list of the components I'd asked for to give to the chef. This often helps when there's a language barrier and/or the place is noisy, but she wouldn't take it, instead wrote yet another ticket for a burrito which I could tell wasn't gonna turn out right. And it didn't. The next one that came out was full of guacamole, to the point where I couldn't even pick it out, and uh... there was no sour cream in that one either. She refused to fix it at that point. Said I'd need to pay again, which I do understand, but maybe just make the burrito as ordered? It should NOT be this hard. I finally just bought a side of rice, beans, flour tortillas, and other burrito components, and made my own messy little ones. She denied they had lettuce, but it somehow did show up in my order so... ‍ Anyway, due to the difficulty of getting your food made correctly, I can't recommend. If you don't care about the components of your dish, you will probably like it just fine, but if you need alterations or have your heart set on a specific thing, it's not gonna happen. The rice and beans had good flavor, but it wasn't what I wanted as it was really sloppy to assemble and eat in the car. Again, it just shouldn't be this hard. read more

My favorite taco spot! There is a full taco station with a Trompo al pastor. I typically order 4 with everything which means radishes, cooked onions, raw onions, cilantro, limes, salsa, and hot peppers. They serve the usual meats but my favorite is Al pastor. I love the slices of pineapple that comes with it!! And if you come after 5pm the tamale lady will magically appear. I usually get the chicken. Her chicken tamales have more seasoning. So good!! Service is quick, if you want tacos you order them at the counter right when you enter and pay at the end of the counter. The space is nice and has plenty of seating.
