This is my favorite place to go in the summertime! The ice cream is delicious and they have a ton of toppings and dips. A bunch of sundaes are offered, and swirled flavored ice cream too. You can't find toasted almond like they have here any where else! Believe me I have looked and even tried to recreate it myself. Unsure what the big deal about this place is. I have stopped here quite a few times because I am too lazy to drive elsewhere. Outside of "an ice cream shop!" there is nothing uberly spectacular about Les. The ice cream is just that, ice cream. There isn't anything fantastic about it. In fact, I prefer good old fashioned jar'd supermarket ice cream at a fraction of the price. My guess is that the majority of those giving this place uberly good reviews are likely part of "that crowd" who go there to "people watch." "Look at me I'm at Les'!" My parents have been taking me here since I was I was born - 35 years later Les' is still the iconic Dairy Bar that I remember. Great ice cream, Pleasant staff & the owner Debbie still looks exactly the same. Debbie remembers us, as I'm sure she does many locals, greets us with a huge smile & asks about everyone. The line always stretches out to the street, even in colder weather. I've been twice, and had the frozen yogurt both times. It was good, but it was just average soft-serve. I would recommend driving up the road a bit to Mortensons, where they actually make their own ice cream. read more

Les' is a Meriden staple. They have great ice cream, and it is just a cute little mid week hangout during the summer.

This place is pretty good. I go there for the hometown feel, and I like that there are hardworking kids behind the counter. I wish they had hard ice cream in addition to soft serve, but oh well. They have a wide range of toppings, and change their yogurt flavor pretty regularly. Overall it's a good destination, but the one con is waiting on East Main Street. Yuck. read more

Really creamy soft serve ice cream, great toppings, and a local landmark! This is a small, walk up place and there is always a line but don't let that stop you - it moves right along. Perfect ice cream bar!! I always get a simple chocolate cone with rainbow shots, but unlike other ice cream shops, Les' will let me purchase extra shots in a cup. Les' is one of the few gems in Meriden, CT. Everyone in town knows that Les' has great ice cream and offers friendly service. While it may not be homemade ice cream like some other well known ice cream shops in the area, it is decent soft serve that provides for a nice summer treat. While their traditional soft serve cone is nothing that special, their floats, freezes, and flurries are something different and are some of my favorites. Because of the size of Les' their are some downsides associated with the Dairy Bar as well. It is not uncommon to wait in a long line outside to get your ice cream or wait a while for your order because it is usually only staffed by 2 to 4 people. Although Les' Dairy Bar is not a world famous ice cream shop, it offers quality ice cream treats that are quite appealing to many who pass by the small shop on East Main. read more

Les' has been there at least 40 years (and counting). It was the first place we stopped moving into town in the late '60s. And, every kid walked the dog by there 'cause when you bought a cone the dog got a "pup cup!" (Our dog ate chocolate -- yes, chocolate! Long before anyone knew it was bad for 'em. The dog lived to be 13 years old!) My fav was chocolate dipped in crushed walnuts -- yum yum! For variety, sometimes I would have it dipped in coconut. Good place for soft serve ice cream. I would like to see hard serve ice cream there, but I can deal. The vanilla is delicious and there are a wide variety of toppings. I haven't had any of the cones with my ice cream, I get a cup of icecream. Prices aren't bad at all. The people who work there are really nice. There's not too much parking, but that's ok. You go up to the stand and order what you want and take it with you. I just sit on my car enjoying the ice cream and nice weather. read more

I went here a couple weeks ago and I loved it! While it is certainly not the best ice cream joint I've been to, it is decent quality and decent service. I found the pricing to be a tad on the high side, but definitely still well within acceptable ranges. While there is a good selection of toppings, I found the choices of ice cream flavors to be a bit lacking. Also the place has really nothing to offer in regards to seating and tables. You are pretty much forced to eat the ice cream outside in the Sun or in your car.... which is something I think could easily be improved on. They have a fairly sizable lot especially considering the size of the actual shop is comparable to a large bathroom, so I really don't understand why there is such a lack of accommodation. I would have been happy just to see a few wooden picnic tables with umbrellas. Because of that, and the fact that while it's really good ice cream but not SPECTACULAR - this place gets a 4 out of 5. read more

They've been here forever. Its a Meriden staple and people are real emotional about the place. Its okay. Soft serve only, nothing special about it. The ice cream doesn't taste very creamy, almost has a watered down taste to it. The prices are a bit on the high side for soft serve. read more
