This is a local oakland business. The owner is "ghetto", and has his family working with him. THAT HAVING BEEN SAID.... they were respectful, competent, and a GREAT value. This has been the first time in two years I have had the car professional cleaned, and in that time our Malamute puppy has gone from a 17lb bundle of joy, to a 135lb ball-of-hair-shedding-exuberation . This has taken a toll on the interior of our car, leaving windows smeared with fossilized dog-saliva and snot, and the seatbacks of our Honda fit, and the carpets, covered in a deep matt of six inch long doghairs. The owner quoted $35.00 for a full internal clean, external clean and wax (WAY TOO LOW). It took him .5 hrs to get the outside immaculate, and then a young man named Maurice and his older relative (uncle, I think) Isaac spent the next two hours inside the car making it SHINE. I mean really SHINE. They did not shampoo, but they got the MAT of dog hair off my seats, carpets, and doors. I ended up tipping the owner an additional $10, AND gave a $10 on the down low to the two in the car. LATER I saw the young man put the tip into the general pool. He ALSO made a point of coming over and thanking me for the tip after, AND for the cans of iced tea I had brought over from the Bodega while they were deep into it. I had PLANNED on running it in on sunday (yelp said they were open), but there was no answer on the phone. Turns out the phone cannot be trusted. i found this place on yelp, and i'm glad i did! it had been 11 months since my last car wash...it was time for one. went on a wednesday, when ladies get $12 car washes and $32 wash and wax ($3 off each of those). i just got a wash, and my car looked so fresh. they spend about 40 minutes just for the wash (bring a book), all by hand. the wash even includes air freshener (or "do you want it to smell good?" as the dude put it) if you want it -- choose from bubblegum or pina colada. thanks, hot boys. read more

I wait 1.5 hours and the mats arent washed (like a prius i watched be meticulously cleaned) i assume i paid extra for SUV, but the back of car was not vacuumed, i had to ask? Bugs still on front, tar still on rear quarter panel, sigh. I paid $40. and left. I wanted a wax, but no one even cared to ask. I woulda paid $150. Came here on a Sunday morning and they started working on my car right away. Charged $25 for full inside and outside cleaning (what a deal!). They're a group of hard working guys that don't mess around and just get down to business. They don't have a fancy waiting area with A/C, but who needs that anyway??! Kinda nice that you can sit outside under a large canopy type thing and watch then work as your car gets shiny and clean. They do it all by hand, no machines or other equipment that can damage your car. Was in and out of there in about 2 hours. Great deal. No other place in town can get it done like these guys. I moved last year, and wanted to find a place to take my car that was closer than my old standby. I drove to one place nearby and they didn't seem to be open during the advertised hours (or at least, no one visible working much less greeting people), so I hastily looked again and decided to try this place. I realize that it may not seem like a big deal to say "they have signs saying they are an auto detailing place, and when they are supposed to be open, there is someone to greet you" but those aspects were a clear improvement over the other place! In any case, the other reviews basically cover the main points. They do a nice job, but allow some time -- if you are getting the full treatment (wash and wax, and interior including mats) then it will take at least a couple of hours. I had asked about the timing and was told confidently that it would take no more than 90 minutes ("you'll be out of here by noon, for sure"), and instead it took more than 2 hours. I had some anxious moments and then it turned out that my later appointment had canceled anyway, but still... I take away a point for not being able to give me a better up front estimate of the timing. The waiting area is seating on outside benches, with a shade cover. If you want to grab a bite to eat, the taco truck is OK, but there may be other restaurants within walking distance that are better. Bottom line: I'll be back (on a day when I have plenty of time). read more

It is a popular spot because their price is reasonable and they do a decent job washing your car. 2. $25 car wash during the winter, and $35 car wash during the summer. The whole process took about 40 minutes. They cleaned both interior and exterior. Not perfect, but good enough. They also washed and polished my wheels. My car was looking super filthy and hadn't been washed in a while so I decided to go with the $25 wash and wax combo. What followed was by far the cleanest my car has looked since its' birth. Fred was super welcoming and the guys started working on my car right away. The attention to detail is unmatched, so don't expect your car to be finished quickly. I have never been so disrespected by a business. I came here Oct 3 at 10am to get my car washed. When I arrived they were not busy there were maybe two cars ahead of me. I went and sat in the waiting area in about 30 minutes later to more people had arrived and the first two people ahead of me had already left because their cars were done. I noticed that one of the man that emergently was working on my car had disappeared, and the other two men there we're working on the other two cars that arrived after me. Just to give some context I'm leaving out of town tomorrow and so I had a jampacked day full of errands and I really needed this car wash or take an hour or less which I feel is reasonable. I went over to the two employees and asked why no one was working on my car. They really said the owner left and we can't help you and he gave me his number. I called the owner to see what the delay was about and he said he was out buying a hose. I told him I was disappointed because I went out of my way to support a black owned business and I am getting treated like garbage. He told me not to play the black card and rudely asked me to wait until he got back. I was headed out of town and didn't have time to wait. I have never felt so disrespected by a business in my life. I have been here three times now and I have been satisfied each time. They take the time to wash your car as if it was their own. Also, the one time I went and their work was not as good as usual, they are STILL ten times better than the competition. Now, they do take a lot of time with your car so please do allow at least 30-45 minutes. You can't come here and be in a hurry. Also, just ignore the seemingly sketchy people who hang around. Found this place on Yelp! and thought I was in luck -- such good reviews and really close to my house. I show up and asked for a full detail and the guy quotes me $150, saying $65 for shampooing the rugs, $65 for shampooing the back seat, plus $15 for the car wash -- dude, I don't know if they changed some rules in math or what, but 65+65+15 adds up to $145 to me!! Not only was he not quoting a break for the package, he's charging me $5 extra?! Plus, it's not like I drive an Excursion SUV or anything, it was just my tiny little Prius! The passive aggressive person that says he's the manager there quoted 35 minutes for a simple wash inside and out. 35 minutes later, my car is still wet on the outside and not vacuumed or cleaned AT ALL on the inside. I told him I needed to get back to work. He charged me $12 for washing the outside even though it wasn't dried off. I gave him 15 dollars because he obviously needs it worse than I do. The worst experience ever and I really wanted to love this place! I had been so eager to try this local place within 3 min of my home I have two little ones and my car is essential I planned out time to bring it here only to be let down. They were not open at at 8:30am but a man on the couch told me they would open at 9am so I told him I would come back, still excited I went to run an errand. Come back at 9:15 still not open...I drive off but then see the gate open so I make a U-turn! Make it in no one to be found and the man on the couch is not sleeping with headphones on. I wait and another guy comes out no greeting I'm just there and he starts to set up. I try and be proactive and ask if I can leave my car and come back to not rush him in setting up (they had just opened)only to be talked to rude and in a sarcastic manner. I got back in my car and said I would go elsewhere. I get we all have bad mornings but wtf seriously?! Such a let down, I was really rooting for this place and hoping to find my new car wash spot :( read more

This is a bit of a long one............I don't understand how you work in a customer driven business and think it's OK to be a rude ASS FACE. I went to East Bay Auto Detail (formerly Hot Boys Car Wash) on 38th and Foothill in Oakland this morning.....not my first visit. I got up hella early because I had some other errands to run. I got there at 8:30ish and they were't open even though the sign said they open at 8. Another car pulls up and is waiting as well...I see a person through the window thinking he's preparing to open...NO BIG DEAL.....now it's about to be 9:00 (still ain't open) OK now, wassup.....then a fluffy guy walks out, locks the door behind him and gets in his car...he sits for a few minutes then gets out and walks across the street to the store (Im watching his every move). He comes back and I politely say "Excuse me, is everything OK?" He says yes....looking a lil confused. I say "Well the sign says you open at 8 and it's now 9....do you know what time you guys will open?" It's now 3 cars waiting. He said they gone open at 9 or 9:30.....I asked "Which one is it gone be today?" he points at another guy that walked out and started talking to the guy in the 3rd waiting car and says "he's the manager" and gets in his car and drives off. I roll down my back window and say Excuse me....the wrong guy turns around...I say EXCUSE ME are you guys gonna open at 9 or 9:30 today and the car wash worker looks over his shoulder and says "It's not finna be right now". ***** WHAT!!! Is what came to mind....but I roll up my window and left. Pissed off to the highest of pisstivity (of course) I said "IMMA YELP HIS ASS!! Driving to another car wash I ended up behind the fluffy dude who turns into the gas station and guess who else goes to the gas station......you got it...THIS GURL!!! I say 'excuse me and I ask him who is the the other dude ...he said his cousin, the manager.....REALLY!!? I tell him what happens and he apologizes and tries to make excuses. I tell him thank you for apologizing but there is NO EXCUSE for that type of service.....especially when a man is talking to a woman. I tell him I'm 44 and have been in customer service for over 25yrs and whatever Im going through is NOT to be taken out on customers under NO circumstances and if I feel I can't provide excellent customer service...I stay the f**k home! He is apologizing over and over....but still won't give the rude ass face dudes name (skinny, glasses, nappy beard and crusty looking mustache). I tell him it's cool...I know you don't wanna tell on your cousin....OK, FINE.....DON'T.....Imma Yelp his ass and call and talk to the owner (who's name he wouldn't give either). BUT KNOW THIS......I went to Old Navy to buy flip flops before I went to the movies and a lady tore her dress so I told her that I'm a seamstress and could fix it for her and offered her a business card and then 5 other people asked for my card....we then began to talk about the heat and our plans for the day and I told one of the lady's about the "Car Wash" and she said she has never been there but will make sure that she don't go there and how she'll tell others not to go there as well. This is exactly why I make sure I give great customer service because YOU NEVER KNOW who somebody is or the connections they may have. It can work WITH you or AGAINST you and whatever he may be going through today.....he just put East Bay Auto Detail on 38th and Foothill on the map in a bad way. After the car was washed, they mentioned some things stuck on the paint. I saw the 'blobs' and began to scrape them with my fingernail and it came off. The owner had just arrived, saw me scraping the car, moved me away and scraped the 'blobs' off. Further I was disappointed the things that dropped between the front seats and the gear panel were not removed. I thought if the car was 'detailed' for $100, the bottle caps, pieces of paper, etc were blown out of that space. I could have spent $15. at the local carwash for for the job done. read more
