Oh my, where do I start. Noticed that one of my back tires was leaking slowly and my sensors were telling me that something is going on. Had the bad tire filled with air yesterday- well, went flat last night. So now, went to les Schwab in Auburn- over the phone, they said to come over, it can be fixed with a plug and there's no charge. Well, after an 1.5 hours waiting- they told my husband it wasn't fixable- over the phone my husband said we're not ready to buy new tires yet since the tread wasn't bad and just want the plug. After waiting for a while, they finally started on the car but wouldn't plug the nail hole nor put the original tire back on. The manager and head guy came out- my husband told them calmly repeatedly that we're not buying a tire yet but to please put the tire back on so we can leave! Huffing and puffing, finally they put on our spare tire, threw the original tire into the back and we drove off. Went down the street to tire repair, the one in front of grocery outlet- guess what. They said "no problem -come back in a hour!" So how come, Les Schwab wouldn't do what were asked and yet another establishment did it without any doubt! My husband will not return to Les Schwab anymore for any of his car business! The other couple at the Les Schwab said he dropped his car off at 8am- was told it will Be ready in 2.5 hours; he did errands and by 1:30 his car wasn't even looked at yet! Incredible! I can't say enough good things about this place. They are professional, friendly and knowledgeable. Cordial vibe as you enter. If there is a line, they smile, wave and acknowledge you. I went in for a free flat repair (yes, I bought my tires there). If you want to avoid the wait, I recommend making an appointment online. It's very easy to do and it definitely shortens waiting time. That said, if you have to wait it's not a bad place to hang out. Nostalgic waiting room serving hot popcorn with "Friends" playing in the background. I was in and out in less than 30 minutes. The guy that did the work is the one that checked me out He told me what he did to fix the flat, where the nail was on the tire and assured me that I had nothing to worry about from a safety standpoint. Failed at getting my rear breaks done in a timely manner. I took my car in for an 11 o'clock appointment to get a brake inspection done.. found out I needed to have my rear brakes done with new calipers and new rotors. Said they could do it that day. I asked how long would it take? The young lady replied about a couple hours.. I thought OK one axle. It was at 12:45-ish. At 3:45. I got a ride back over there. I had not gotten a call from them. When I went up to ask about how long my car would be, they said by the end of the day. I had to be someplace by 6 o'clock, so I said no bring my car forward. read more

So when you get crappy service, after spending a small fortune on tires that you could have gotten at Costco for cheaper, it really sucks. After years of singing their praise and spending thousands of dollars - we decided to go elsewhere. I watched one of the owners berate a worker, right in front of me. Super uncomfortable. They also scratched the heck out of my wheel and told me there was "no way" they could have done it when the wheel was almost brand new. It was a read drivers side wheel and the face had little scratches - not from being curbed but from being put face down on something. It saddens we to write this review because for a long time they were best in class at customer service. We never complained but the ONE time our wheel got messed up. Have never had anything but great service here (So Virginia St., Reno NV). And yes, they almost always greet you when you step out of your car, and last time, even before I got out. Purchased my tires here .. free rotation for life of tires. Plus, think your losing air, or picked up a foreign object in your tire... just drive right in. They'll take care of it. I was low on air, so I swung by and had them check. They said I had a nail in my tire. But I had a doctor's appointment I could not miss. Said don't worry, we'll fill you with air, and you can stop by on your way back and we'll get it out. And that's exactly what they did. Cost to me %$0.00. The do a routine check on your car when they rotate the tires and give you a print out of what they checked. Let you know how much wear is left on your tires before needing new one, and brakes as well. I had a problem that annoyed me .. my car vibrated when I hit the brakes. Was told it was not causing any problem, but if you want to fix it we can do that. The cost was minimal and I had them fix it right then, didn't have to make a new appointment. Do not come here. I dropped my car off because my brake pedal was going to the floor without any much resistance. It didn't feel safe coming to a stop. So I came into Les Schwabb Tire Center because they will do a free basic brake inspection, and since I bought my tires from the same company, I also requested a tire rotation. I let them know that I had recently replaced the front brake pads, front calipers, and master cylinder. Later, I received a call that they suggested a full front and back brake package, although the brakes and calipers on the front had already been done WITH THE CORRECT PARTS (UPDATE: AS OBSERVED BY A MECHANIC LATER ON THAT FIXED THE ISSUE.). I told them I would just pick it up and decide where to go from there because the packages include brake pads, calipers, and rotors for $1,200. Upon picking up my car, they went over the same thing that they told me on the phone (UPDATE: NOT ONE WORD ABOUT WRONG PARTS BEING INSTALLED) and that they did a tire rotation. All was free since it was a basic brake inspection, and tires brought from the company include a free rotation... HOWEVER I noticed that they NEVER rotated the tires. The mud markings that were on my front tire were still on the front tire. Also, my battery was dead. As I marched back inside to ask the biggest, obvious questions- why did you tell me my tires were rotated and they weren't? And why is my battery dead? The manager I spoke to said that he didn't know why it was marked done if it hadn't been. He then tried to make the situation better by saying A. You didn't pay for it B. He tried feeding me some story that he has a daughter and... I cut him off and asked, "You think by saying I didn't pay for it makes me feel any better? I'm supposed to come here and TRUST that you did the work! Did you even look at my car, or did you just slap a few brake packages on it because I look like I wouldn't know what's what?!" I've used this Les Schwab once a couple of years ago. I had an appointment for a tire rotation. When I came in there were two employees talking to each other at the front counter and when I approached and stood in front of them they continued talking for literally 5 minutes (there was a clock visible) without acknowledging my presence. Not even "be with you soon" or "one moment please." I decided that Les Schwabs reputation for excellent customer service was bs and never went back. A couple of weeks ago my wife's car started occasionally making a small noise when braking. She took her car in to LS and after waiting around for an hour despite having an appointment, they looked at the vehicle and came back saying that she needed new pads and rotors on all 4 tires. This seemed super unlikely to me since we had bought the car a few months before and only driven it around 4K miles. We then took the car to our local mechanic and they told us all the pads are at about 3/4 new and the likely explanation for the noise was some break pad dust that had collected. This LS store essentially tried to scam my wife for $1200 of unnecessary repairs. This store seems to be coasting on the reputation earned by their founder and other well-run and honest stores. Save yourself from potentially getting fleeced and go anywhere else. read more

I learned all I needed to know about this place when I overheard the manager tell one of his guests that this location is individually owned . According to him they are part of the same chain but operate independently. This leads me to my story about the service I almost received . Went in there to replace 2 tires on an All Wheel drive . Manager I think comes back and says I can't just do 2 on an all wheel drive because it will effect the transmission. . In his defense he is not wrong . The problem is I just bought 2 new tires for the front no more than 7 months ago from another Les . We spent close to $500 . The other site should have told me and I'll take it up with them but this guy in Auburn kept saying you need to do all 4 , When I said I didn't have the budget today for it he asked " well can you call anyone to borrow money ?" Then followed with "I don't get paid commission I'm not trying to upsell you " Then " I'll give you $50 for the barely used tires on the front of your car " He didn't try to empathize with me that another Les basically screwed me over and had the attitude of " not my problem " Finally what really put me over was him saying over and over " if I put only two tires on your car and your transmission goes out , I could get sued" . "I can't afford to get sued ". You need to work on your selling abilities and stop worrying about yourself and put some empathy towards your clients . Usually I'm not one to leave reviews, but I feel the need to now. I've been going to LS for ever. Several sets of tires, brakes, alignment, etc, and have always received good service. Recently, I was in need of a simple rotation. I made an early appointment, in an attempt to avoid a long wait, and I actually arrived early. After giving my keys to the guy at the desk, he went out to check my vehicle, and then the up-sales started. When NHTSA recommends replacing tires every 6 years, and my tires are six years old, please don't tell me the average is 5 years, and I need to buy a new set, (he even told me it looks like the tires don't have many miles on them). Don't come back later and tell me the shoulders look a little more worn than the rest of the tread, and say it could be our roads, or I should just be safe, and have them do an alignment. I declined both, and took a seat in the waiting room. I did tell him, I would keep his recommendations in mind. After waiting 1.5 hours, I got up to see where my vehicle was. I was told somebody didn't show up for work, so its taking a while. If you know you are short-staffed, let the customers know ahead of time, so they can make other arrangements, other that sitting in your waiting room. When I got home, I decided to check the air pressure in the tires. Good grief.....shouldn't the pressures be checked during the rotation? 42, 41, 48, 51. Really concerning that LS has seen a decline in customer service. Since I'll soon be in the market for tires on two vehicles, I might be forced to shop elsewhere. read more

Do yourself a favor... go to Grass Valley or Sierra College Les Schwab, even if you need a tow truck to do it!!!! BETTER yet, go to FAIRWAY Les Schwab!!! Travis has quite the team there!!! There was a bright spot about my trip to Auburn LS. Kudos to Asher!!! ASHER was the employee charged with an air check and re-torque of my lug nuts. After a bit of trouble, some investigation, and a lug replacement to test his theory, it was determined I needed new lug nuts... which was DEAD ON diagnostically!!! Way to GO!!! Unfortunately, the complete disaster of an experience started once I went inside the showroom. Ryan wrote me up for 20 lug nuts. Basic, ordinary, zinc open style lug nuts. No chrome, no locks, no special anything... just 20 lug nuts. Ryan hands me an order for $102.21!!!!! Yep, $102 bucks for 20 lug nuts... tax, labor, and materials. SO, if you look up the lug nuts in question, they are $.47 each in bulk! Yes, $.47 each, gorilla brand. SO, charging $2each is reasonable...(profit, overhead, etc) I was happy to pay the estimated $2 per... and installation... but the math just didn't pencil out. $2/nut x 20= $40, tax... $2 call it $42 So, 102-42= $60 in labor....(Ryan was positively sure $30 was the labor fee... yet the lug nuts were $2.02 each) $60 to install 20 lug nuts... $3/ nut.... Ryan and Tom were quite pleased to explain modern economics, business theory, and how the real world works... in their snotty, condescending, and demeaning way... Now, I'm not new to LS, the idea of marketing, markup, overhead, profit, and even roll-up costs... SO, they button up my car, and I got to ROSEVILLE- Fairway LS....passing 2 LS stores on my 25 min trip. Without hesitating, they pulled my car in, swapped all 20 lug nuts, did an air check, and had me ready to go in under 30min. Best part, $41.35!!! Even w/ a $20 tip, I still saved $40 over Auburn Les Schwab!!! Yes, $40!!!!! Knowing that Auburn is a privately owned shop, I returned to verify that Tom was the mgr, not the owner Tom...and that Ryan was the other employee... corporate HQ has proven to be extremely receptive to both KUDOS and complaints... The store was closed but Ryan and another employee were at the door. I verified the culprits involved in the earlier "exchange." I believe in accuracy in both kudos and candid remarks) Ryan made sure to remind me that he was nothing but polite and helpful...yet quickly began belittling my intelligence and offering me a loan for the $26 in labor... calling me a cheap_____... going as far as to yell accusations for the witnessing employee to hear... Ultimately, Ryan told me to get the _____ out of here... he doesn't get paid enough to deal with A-H cheap ________ customers... ULTIMATELY, Ryan and Tom both failed to recognize one thing... My dispute was not over labor... but the AMOUNT of labor to install materials already (clearly) marked up to include installation... OR the cost of the lug nuts.... Either or, but not both... Had they been in the least bit interested in customer service or satisfaction, Tom and Ryan would have listened a bit longer to my explanation before rudely explaining how business works, how cheap I am. "Keeping lights on" and hiring talent is expensive, no debating it... but how do the other tire shops do it?!?! How is it the other LS stores can do it?!? Every other LS (I called 5 total (one was privately owned) and went to Fairway LS), America's Tire, and even PEPBoys sell the lug nuts and install them free of labor. When asked, I was told it is simply "customer service" or that it was included in the price. Every single LS went as far as to point out the free flat repairs, air checks....as an additional means of customer satisfaction. SO, you've been warned!!! This Les Schwab location has a serious problem and that problem is its owner and manager, Thomas K Lopiccolo. Because of his inherent dishonesty and sleazy managing practices, our car was held captive for 13 days. Tom tried to tell us that a certain bolt was over tightened at the factory and was therefore stripped so the tech couldn't remove it. This information wasn't given to us until we called 6 times in 13 days because NO ONE EVER CALLED US! EVER! So on that 13th day of not having our car or any information about our car unless we called and even then were told nothing other than it was "still on the rack" and that one of the Tom's (there's two) would call us back, we told them that we were coming to pick up our car and have it towed to a different location. We showed up and told them what we wanted to do again and were told that the car couldn't be put back together because the tech had "Just Then" taken everything apart! After 13 days?!!! This is when we had the misfortune of meeting Thomas K Lopiccolo. He was an obnoxious ass of a person who simply wasn't willing in any way shape or form to work with us. Please note, we had no problems with the other employees we spoke with. They did their jobs great (except for whomever this tech was). It was Tom who made everything unnecessarily miserable. I'll fast forward through the muck of getting our car rescued to several days later when our car is somehow now magically able to be put back together because supposedly Tom is a sorcerer and made the impossible happen. We drove our car home thinking the worst had passed. The brakes sounded rough but we wanted to give it a few days to break in. That wasn't the case because by the third day we had to very quickly go to the Grass Valley Les Schwab because our car started making a terrible deep metallic clanking sound from underneath (the sort of sound you can feel all throughout the car). The manager (Gary) and the crew at the Grass Valley, Les Schwab, not only took us in right at 6:00 pm when they were meant to close because they're awesome and knew we were at risk driving any farther, but they immediately spotted and showed us what had actually taken place on our car while in the incapable and dishonest hands of the Auburn location. The front brake pads were in BACKWARDS! There were NO BRAKE CALIPER PINS either! They were just hanging on by spit and a prayer! Because of the backwards brake pads, they had badly gouged the rotors and as far as the "factory stripped bolt" there was no evidence of any stripped bolt or of any replaced bolt whatsoever because everything pertaining to that was still in perfect factory condition! Tom just had his tech slap everything together (backwards pads and no caliper pins and all), and then lie to us that it was all good and oh so graciously give us a price break from $1300 to $1000. Needless to say, between the manager Gary, at the Grass Valley Location and Scott at Les Schwab corporate, we were able to finally have everything fixed. As far as us getting anything back from the Auburn location, well they had to pay for the Grass Valley locations labor and parts cost and we got $200 back. It's easy to say to yourself (we should've got all our money back!) but at that point we were just grateful to have our car back and our faith in humanity restored because of the excellent crew at the GRASS VALLEY LES SCHWAB! To be fortunate enough to have a big nice business under the Les Schwab moniker and run it like that is why so many people are paranoid about being ripped off. That location isn't actually an actual Les Schwab either. It's a privately owned location that's allowed to sell Les Schwab products. The actual Les Schwab's are trying to buy up these places literally, because of situations like this. AVOID THE AUBURN, LES SCHWAB AND GO TO THE GRASS VALLEY, LES SCHWAB INSTEAD! read more

I went to Les Schwab a month ago to get my tires rotated. I had been a loyal customer of theirs for many years. This time i had one of their staff try to seriously hustle me for $2500 worth of totally unnecessary repairs, including 4 new tires. They told me my brakes were rubbing metal to metal. They weren't. They told me that the struts and bushings were so badly worn that my tires were ruined and unsafe to drive on. They even showed me a video of my car to "prove" the oroblems were serious. I was shocked and upset. I did not agree to the repairs. After looking at the tires and seeing no problem, i took my car to two of my regular mechanics, one of them a trusted car dealer. They both confirmed that there were no such problems. I won't be going back to the Auburn Les Schwab. Do not trust them. i brought my truck in for an alignment. I have a lifted 07 ford. Did my own lift about 4 hrs ago. Took it in for an alignment. All went well. 4yrs later. Bought new tires form Suzas tires because Les doesn't have BFG's. Needing an alignment. They show me ball joints that where bad and could not do the service. Completely understand. No change. That was unexpected and wonderful. They quoted me for the fix. I couldn't afford it. So I replaced everything myself. Back for alignment. O by the way 37$ charge to inspect your work. WTF REALLY! I can't afford your services, so I do it myself and you charge me. I paid. But will now find another company to get my servic. read more
