Well, after years of searching, meetings and disappointment, we finally found the right guy to handle the job. Mark Caballero was referred by friends who had a beautiful remodel done a few years earlier. After seeing the quality of the work Mark did for our friends, I knew we had to contact him for a design and estimate. The great quality and detail of the work I saw made me think he was likely well out of our budget. I texted Mark and he responded Immediately. My wife and I met with him a few days later to give him an idea of what we wanted in our new backyard. Within a very short period, Mark returned with beautiful renderings that we could not believe were the same backyard. Mark incorporated all our ideas and our requests into his design and even suggested some ideas that we didn't even consider but would prove to be excellent ideas. Mark's experience in the pool business showed through in his concept ideas. Then came the estimates. The renderings for the new pool looked like it belonged at a high dollar spa, and I expected that the price tag would be way out of our league. Mark Caballero Pools came through with a reasonable price that fell within our budget. We happily signed on with the company. Work started within five or six weeks, and Mark kept us up to date on each step of the remodel. He managed a large portion of the job, while we were away from home and never cut any corners. Mark has a great attention to detail, that should be a requirement for this type of project. He located and corrected even minor deviations from that plan that I would never have even seen. He and his crew took the time and effort to fix and improve things that were incomplete or incorrect from when the pool was first installed in 1999. We came to trust that Mark and his employees would handle every job correctly and never short cut any task. They upgraded the original pool company's work to ensure our new pool worked fantastic. Mark's employees were also incredible. Trustworthy, hardworking and experienced. They went out of their way to provide the best quality of work without complaint. Everyone that worked on our job were great, but I would like to add a special thanks to Sam, Valentin and Kiki. You guys are the best! Mark managed our project from start to finish. We were not handed off to anyone else, and we saw Mark almost every day while the job was happening. While we were considering stone, tile, and plastering options, Mark personally took me to other gorgeous pools he had completed in the area. Although I was about to purchase a hot tub from a large, well known dealer in Corona, I decided to look at Custom Spas Direct, which has good online reviews and happens to be very close to our house. I'm glad I did. I was not familiar with the Vita spa brand that Custom Spas Direct sells. There's very little information available online. After doing some digging, I determined that Vita is a decent, mid-range spa with competitive pricing. Nothing fancy, but it's built with good components from companies like Balboa Water Group. Dealing with Custom Spas Direct has been fantastic. It's a small company and we interacted directly with Jim Galpin, the owner. Jim is a straightforward guy and he was very helpful in choosing a spa. Since I was unfamiliar with Vita, I had a lot of questions and he patiently answered all of them. He quickly responded whenever I sent him a text with a question or request. After the purchase, he was super flexible with regard to delivery, setup timing, coordinating with the electrician's schedule, etc. The delivery and setup was quick and well done. The installer did a good job answering all of my questions. We've had the spa six months and have had a couple of minor issues. One was probably due to user error on my part and the other was not. In both cases, Jim responded to my texts immediately and quickly resolved my issue, even during a holiday week. Last year, we needed our pool slide scrapped and re-coated as the initial construction of the slide was done poorly. We asked Paul if this is something his company does and he said yes. Tells us he'll send his stone guy to take a look at it. I emphasized that I wanted to use whatever material would last us the longest. He quoted us about $2k. It's steep, but we know Paul and trusted him (or so we thought). It has been a year almost exactly and the coating they did is now peeling. We reach out to Paul about remedying this and he's basically washing his hands of it, saying that he has no affiliation with the person/company he sent out and that he had called his stone guy. I've attached photos of what the slide looked like before, after, and now and part of our conversation where he explicitly stated his workers and not some referred outside company. We paid the invoice sent through Beachfront, not some 3rd party he claims to not be affiliated with. This is not to mention that our pool has had issues with algae for the last 2 months and they claim that it was a pipe leak which we paid for to be fixed and look at the state of our pool now still. I would stay far away from this company. I don't know why they have so many stars but my experience with Paul and Beachfront have been disappointing and expensive.
