I reviewed this location a few years ago, when a very friendly guy named Mike was working at the Chapparal store for several years. One day, mike just wasn't there anymore, when i got no hint of him leaving, if it were his own choice. I have a feeling Mike bent a lot of rules, and did favors for customers, I wouldn't be surprised if Leslies canned him. But all my Yelp reviews from more than 5 years ago, disappeared. So I am posting a new review here, about what happened after Mike disappeared about 1.5 years ago. There were new faces all the time in this store. Well this store now has another new employee who is supposed to be assistant manager. He has only been working at this store 1 month and knows almost nothing about equipment and their differences. He does a water test as he was trained to do (you could tell, he is going by his canned training as a 'presentation'), but that is about it. I was told by the Hayden and Thomas store, that the manager of the Chaparral store is really knowledgeable, but you'd have to go to the Chaparral store only when this manager is working, on the assistant manager's days off. if you need more knowledge and help about products, pool chemicals and just about everyrthing having to do with pools, make a trip to the Thomas and Hayden store, and talk to Leon. Leon has had about 15 yeares experience working with swimming pools and their products. Leon spends a lot of time with each customer, giving them service and advice. read more

With the crazy hot AZ weather lately, we've been using our pool quite often, but without any floats or games to play in the water, it gets a bit boring. So, we made a spontaneous stop at this location of Leslie's to pick up a raft. We found a raft we liked and we would've actually purchased two of them, but they only had one in stock. Marvin, the sole employee working while we were there, seemed extremely knowledgeable, so Jared asked him some questions about keeping the pool clean, etc... We learned that you can bring in water from your pool to Leslie's and they will test it to see what chemicals it needs. So, Jared may attempt this in hopes of saving us some $$ in the future by doing the maintenance himself. Regardless if Jared actually does this or not, Leslie's seems like a convenient place to go for any of your pool needs, and I'm sure we'll be back... even if it's just to get a second raft for our pool! read more

We went to several Leslie's before coming to this store. Most of them did not know how to care for hot tubs. Dominique is great! Very knowlegeable, patient enough to teach us how to care for our hot tub. Highly recommend this store and Dominique! read more

Recently the filter on my pool bit the dust. When shopping the project, I included this Leslie's location in the bidding process at the recommendation of my weekly pool servicer Tri-City Pool Service. Leslie's came through with the lowest bid and I awarded them the business. I was highly impressed with the service provided. Debbie helped coordinate everything and was able to get a technician out to replace the filter within 48 hours. Luis, the technician, was very professional and did a good job of explaining to me how to use a DE filter. The filter change did the trick as overnight my pool went from looking like a swamp to crystal clear. Overall I've been thoroughly satisfied with this Leslie's location and would certainly recommend them. read more

Andrew gave awesome customer service. He speaks to customers without making them feel like they're just selling something, this guy listened to my concern and offered a simple solution. I've been shopping at this store for 2 years and, the manager Mike is always friendly and helpful! The past 2 times I've gone in I've worked with Andrew and he is also knowledgeable and friendly. They didn't have the part I needed in stock so, Andrew called another store and asked them to hold it for me. I really tried. I've been here multiple times over the past 4 years of living in the neighborhood. But, yet again, customer service has driven me away. A few years ago, the manager steered me in the wrong direction which led to my purchase of $100 of chemicals that went down the drain, and then admitted his wrong doing in the subsequent visit after I confronted him, but only after I confronted him. He made it right by providing more chemicals on the house after some reluctance...This was 2 years ago. On a more recent visit, I encountered a young lady. She was very nice, chatting with the people in front of me for 15 minutes while I waited in line to have my water tested. She did not acknowledge my presence and continued to chit chat with them. Granted, I was the only other person in the store, so I brushed it off. She then proceeded to have an attitude with me like I had done something wrong. Today, this young lady was working again, and again, was helping another customer..perfectly happy go lucky. When it became my turn to check out, I requested a price match to leslies.com for some shock as it was a few bucks cheaper. She then proceeded to tell me the SKU was different and that she could not. Now I understand this is a corporate policy, but it's the same exact product. And I wasn't asking for a 50% discount, it was $3. Seriously? At that point, she picked up an attitude with me. Same type of attitude she had the previous time. As a customer, I felt disrespected with her general attitude and lack of understanding. I could care less about the $3. I will not be returning to this Leslie's. I'll take my money to another Leslies or to NPS. read more

I ordered some pool chemicals online from Leslie's at the request of my pool guy. When they were delivered yesterday the box was wet and one of the bottles had leaked into the box and the plastic bag it was packaged in. I sent an email last evening and did NOT receive a return response today which made me think their customer service is not going to be up to par. I decided to take the bottle to the Leslie's by my house. The salesman Mike was great. I explained to him what was going on and even though their policy is not to accept returned chemicals, due to the circumstances, he contacted his corporate office and was able to replace the damaged bottle with a new one with no hassle at all. He restored my faith in their customer service - at least at the store level. I will probably just go there to purchase supplies in the future, rather than ordering online. read more

We stopped by today to exchange a pool mat we bought at a different Leslie's. However, we did not have our receipt, but just thought we would try. Marvin told us that he unfortunately could not return it without the receipt; he was extremely apologetic and explained to us exactly why he could not. We returned with our receipt and found a mat we liked much better, not only was Marvin absolutely awesome each encounter, but he honored a coupon that we received with the more expensive original mat (the one we returned). My pool pump was squeeling. I disconnected it from most of the plumbing. I could not figure out how to remove a plastic housing that contained the impeller. I brought the whole thing to Laura and Mike. With their expertise...they dismantled they remaining portion including the impellor...put on a new seal..reassembled it all to a new motor and had it ready for me to remount. The total cost of the additional help... $.01!! That's right! A penny for all their help!! Unbelievable!!! It shows on my receipt! I also got a discount on the pump motor as they had a generic 72 hour sale!! They deserve all 5 stars!! read more

I love Leslie's. More often than not, I leave without spending a dime. I bring in my water to be tested for free and the friendly staff tells me exactly how to keep my pool clean and safe. I bought my automatic vac here last year (cheaper than Amazon) and whenever something happens (it sucks up a rock, etc) I can bring it in for a free fix. Nothing better than knowledgable, friendly, reliable service and a good value! Only downside is that they keep their stores staffed at a minimum so the wait can be long sometimes. Call ahead to see if they are busy and go in mid-week if you can. read more
