Cool place great drinks friendly staff. A very chill atmosphere and vibe. Highly recommend.

This is a really awesome concept- who doesn't love a speakeasy? But it was the hospitality- or lack thereof- that made what could have been an amazing experience a pretty terrible one. My husband and I have been talking about checking this out for a long time and we finally went a few nights ago. There were two folks on staff and both seemed nice enough initially, but it quickly went down hill. They weren't very warm as we sat down. My husband mentioned wanting a Manhattan but he usually has it with makers (which they didn't have- and that's totally fine) hoping the bartender would make a suggestion of something similar or at the very least tell him what he went with- but even now we have no clue what was in the drink. They had friends show up and were much more interested in chatting with them (obnoxiously) than taking care of the very few patrons in the bar so after our initial drink, we didn't see much of the bartender at all. Well- we saw him plenty, but he wasn't stopping by to check on us at all. The final nail in the coffin was that waited over 10 minutes to get our check after it was very evident we were done and wanting to get out of there. The couple next to us was in the same boat. Even after we got our check we tried paying it for several more minutes (again- we were one of 3 parties in there) and I finally had to plead for the waitress who wasn't even assisting us to run the card so we could head out. As we left they didn't say goodbye or thank you or anything-zero acknowledgement. We aren't in any rush to return! read more

This is becoming a go-to for us when we go out to dinner with our friends. The staff is great, as are the food and drinks. Definitely need to recommend the Dan Dan Noodles and their Old Fashioned (one of the best that I have had). And get the horchata ice cream dessert if it is still on the menu. read more

We hold an annual girls holiday dinner and decided to try LTGT. Made reservations for 8 of us a month ago and we were all looking forward to our night out. We were informed late this after noon, the day of the dinner, that they were closing at 7:30 and we needed to be out by then. Our reservation was booked for 6:30 which would have been virtually impossible. We were all very distraught and will not be visiting this establishment in the future. Poor business etiquette. Bartenders here are quick to cut people off. I wouldn't suggest going here for more than one drink. If you are looking to have some good drinks I suggest heading down the street to Medusa brewing company or the Horseshoe pub. read more

As a Hudson native who got used to new and interesting bars and restaurants while in college, it's great to see a truly unique and creative place like Less Than Greater Than in your hometown. Regardless of the whole stereotypical going through the microcreamery and knocking at the door routine, they definitely achieved the speakeasy feel inside with a beautiful soapstone bar, restored tin roof, and low lighting. It seems to have the accuracy of a period stage set without seeming fake or kitschy. As a "speakeasy" it is most certainly a cocktail bar, and they deliver on that front. The bartenders are knowledgeable and have always prepared topnotch stuff, regardless of what I've ordered, and they always have their own specials. The bartenders and the rest of the staff are friendly and attentive even when it's busy. They tend to stock more obscure craft liquors here; they don't have my personal favorite Hendrick's gin or other common brands. Not necessarily a problem, and probably a result of the whole speakeasy theme, but surprising at first. Their beer selection is highly limited - not more than three or four at a time - but what beer they have is good. If it's beer you're after, go to sister restaurant Rail Trail across the street, or any other Hudson establishment - again, this is a cocktail bar. Can't speak to the wine. They also serve food. So far I've only had an octopus dish. It was certainly tasty and nicely composed. Not the best I've ever had, but then again I'm Portuguese so I've had some primo octopus in my day. Their food is not quite bar food and not quite tapas, but something in between. The only drawback is the prices. The small eats will run you at least $15, and cocktails are at least $10. You get what you pay for - the quality is high - but I imagine that for some people, especially those from Hudson who remember when downtown was dead - it can get pricey here fast, so it's worth keeping in mind if your goal for the night is just to get cheap drinks. As far as the crowd goes, it definitely tends toward the 35+ crowd. That's not a surprise considering the prices, but as a recent college grad it's a bit unsettling for me to see my friends' parents there, haha! Appropriately enough I find it's a good place to take your friends or relatives from out of town, since it's so unique. read more

I really enjoyed the drinks. They were well mixed, well thought-out, and the flavoring blended very well. Excellent!!! The food options: had enough options so that you could have more drinks but not amazing. The taco was too "fusion" - it was good but had too many different flavors and ingredients in one taco. Apparently, I am awful. I know this now thanks to the beatnik staff of Less Than Greater Than. The story goes... my wife, two friends and I were having a great night in Hudson, Ma. We had dinner at the Rail Trail (same owner as this bar, by the way), drank wine and painted the dunes of Martha's Vineyard at Paint Misbehavin' (Go there!). After which we decided to top it off with a fancy drink or two and the speakeasy. This was my first time. Heard about it from friends and was looking forward to seeing the space. Atmosphere-wise it was great. Interesting decor and lighting. The booths were comfortable, but something was not quite right. In the spirit of a 1920's speakeasy, I was expecting some Jazz music of say Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Louis Armstrong. Instead, it was house rap. It wasn't a big deal, but the waiter asked if everything was ok and being the honest fella, I asked if he could change the music. He said he'd inquire. A few drinks later a waitress pays a visit. Asks if everything is OK. We all said things were good. She asked if there were anything else. I said it would be nice to have some jazz playing. Then all hell broke loose. She called me "Awful," incorrectly said that the music during prohibition was ragtime music (which it wasn't... ragtime was early 1900s), did some kind of mic drop and actually said "mic drop." What the hell? All four of us were pretty shocked. Did she just call me "Awful?" "Yep, she did", said my friend,"You are awful." It took a few minutes but we recovered and made hilarious fun of the staff at their expense. To their credit, ten minutes later the entire staff came to our table and poured shots for all of us. A make-up call if you will. A noble effort, but we won't be going back anytime soon because I am just too awful. read more

I would argue that there is NO better whiskey sour made anywhere in Massachusetts. They use a traditional, perhaps bizarre method that uses egg whites - which sounds horrid. But given that this is my favorite drink I was willing to try it. I can't imagine anything better. Frothy, tangy, sweet, whisky. Yum! read more

Had a VERY disappointing meal last evening. Our server was great and truly the highlight of the meal. Drinks were good but that was about it. Shrimp potstickers were average at best. (And not hot enough). Pork tacos were very good and probably the only thing I would recommend. We then had the Dan Dan noodles, pad Thai and tuna poke Dan Dan noodles were very greasy and not particularly good. Pad Thai had no protein in it and VERY bland! Was looking forward to coming here for so long. Friends in town visiting from out of state, perfect time to try this place. Overrated...hot..,, bad service We were told 25-40 minutes. No problem, about an hour later we check in and told table would be ready in a minute. Meanwhile 7 women start working the door and attendant trying to meet up with "friends"x We are finally seated in the back corner room. Cute but very very hot and service is terrible. Everyone in this 4 table area asking to move to the main room. The waitress said there were seats available for our party if 3, then proceeds to move the table of 4 near us to the front room. Where there friends had already secured seating!!! Now we are told there maybe seating for us but they need to check availability !!! Are you kidding We say we'd like to check our and the waitress proceeds to have a lengthy conversation with a couple at the bar! The concept of the bar is cute but, the lack of service and extreme wait time not worth it!! Too many other places in the area. read more

After hearing whispers of a speakeasy in Hudson, I had to search it out. I am so glad I did! The drinks are expertly poured and served in vintage glasses. Actually, quite a bit of the bar is put together with vintage pieces found in buildings from the area I have been told. This isn't really the place to go for a full meal, rather something light and for the drinks.. the way speakeasy's are meant to be. Absolutely love it. read more

My friends and I came here tonight for a going away celebration and I am so, so glad we did. Luke was our bartender and truly phenomenal; I drink maybe 3x per year and he made a stellar recommendation for a Mai Tai that he made perfectly. Also had the BEST pork taco of my whole life. I wish I got a picture but it was gone too quickly! All of the staff was so, so incredibly friendly and made the night extremely special for us. This is a great spot if you're feeling a bit adventurous. There is limited seating so be prepared to wait especially on weekends. They're very good about texting you when a spot is ready. The atmosphere and the bar setup has an old timey but sophisticated feel. The old fashioned is amazing! If you aren't sure what you want, ask the bar tender for a recommendation and they will hook you up! They are very knowledgeable about the drinks and what flavors go well together. The food is also amazing, specifically the banh mi tacos. They are a bit on the pricey side so we only go there every once in a while for a treat. read more

This place doesn't even deserve 1 star at this point. We have been to this bar a handful of times before and have always had a good time and enjoyed the food and drinks. We just went today 6/10/18 around 7pm after eating at RailTrail and had an inexcusably bad experience that will warrant us not going back. We had a party of 7 people and were told that there was a 1.5 hour wait. We agreed to wait and to get notified when they had open spots. Not less than 5 minutes later we watched them let in 6 people. When we asked why they got in before us we were told that the people let in were the owners and that we needed to step back. In my opinion if you are the owner you should let your paying customers in before you sit with your group of 6 friends. It is inexcusable and a real disappointment to have had an experience like this at what we thought to be such a great a place. read more

Super disappointed with this place. Five of us came in and got nothing but rude service. Bartender rushed us and was extremely rude to one of the girls when she asked to make a drink that wasn't on the menu. Ordered strawberry daiquiris and a Long Island tea and they were quite horrendous. We were all so excited to come here and were sadly disappointed. The food is pretty good, but the wait is long and the service isn't great. We brought a family member visiting from NY here for dinner. After waiting 30 minutes to get a table, they didn't tell us that we could only order food until 45 minutes before close, so we ordered dessert and the waiter returned to our table telling us that the kitchen was closed. We had been wanting to try this place for months and finally did on Friday. The food and drinks were delicious. We started with the shrimp dumplings which were incredible unfortunately only came with 4. My boyfriend got the pulled pork tacos that he loved and I got the banh mi with pork that came on very fresh and warm bread. The drinks were also great and the complimentary digestif was a great touch. It looks like this menu changes up which is a great excuse to come back! read more

This place is A-1, one of the places you never thought exists. It is not big, and not a place everyone would know about. A bartender told us about it and we thought he was joking. Getting in is a little different too. You just don't walk in. The drinks might be a little more expensive, but they are made top notch !!!! I'd probably go 2.5 stars. The theme is really cool. The service was okay. The server was great but once or twice I had to wait too long to get a drink order in. The drinks are very good but way overpriced. I had an old fashion. I think it was $12 and tasted great but the glass is filled with one huge block ice cube. I don't think the entire drink had more than an ounce total volume. Other drinks had too much ice. But they did all taste great. Most of the food was great with the exception of the burger. The scallop appetizer was cooked perfectly, but it only had 3 sea scallops. That's at $19. The lobster roll was great according to my friends. I had the burger and it just had a bad flavor. I didn't send it back as I wasn't quite sure if it was just the grass fed beef. But I don't think that was the problem. Something just tasted bad on it. Hopefully it was a one-off. I'd go here for the atmosphere and cool theme. I'd be more picky about what I ate and drank and I'd expect a large bill at the end. read more

You really need to get rid of the smart a** working the register on 6/4/20 around 6/7pm. Shorter women brown short hair I think. I came in with my daughter her husband and my niece and nephew. My daughter worked 3yrs as a barista in college so she knows how to make coffee and tea drinks quite well. She nicely ask for a London fog and ask if they could do it with decafe tea. Then this sassy little smart a** at the register made a sarcastic snotty comment how they just can't take the caffeine out of the tea.. my daughter just was like "whatever" and took it caffeinated. Then she got her drink and saw it was just a tea bag...she thought maybe you only had earl grey lose leaf. But after seeing the tea bag She realized how easy it would've been just put in a decaffeinated tea bag. Mind you she is well aware that a true london fog is made with earl grey. But she didn't deserve such snotty attitude even if you don't have decafe tea bags read more

The best Old Fashioned I have ever had....bar none! The best thing about it too was that they use the appropriate ice cube. I know that is not a detail most would notice but I hate a watered down diluted drink. The appropriate ice cube solves that problem. Only someone who knows their mixology understands. An inspired idea: a 'secret' entry to a dark and sophisticated spot (speakeasy, they call it) with a long, beautiful wood bar backed by an evocative brick wall, some comfortable leather booths and a small, open kitchen. The drinks on the menu are creative and delicious - if expensive for metrowest ($12.+) and the bartenders appreciate the challenge of combining your favorite ingredients into a familiar or brand new concoction. Think small bites and limited choices when thinking food: a couple of $15. burgers, a lobster roll, neither of which were sampled by our party of two. I had the fish dish on the menu (different from the fish dish on the website) which was prettily presented and tasty, but the portion was tiny (more like a slightly generous appetizer than an entree). The Dan Dan Noodles seem popular (maybe cause, at $15. it appears to be the most generous portion for the buck), but its strong and salty taste becomes overwhelming after a few bites. The hostess was unwelcoming (we entered with a cook who opened the locked entry door with a key, and the hostess made us step outside till she checked her reservation list on a Monday after 7:30PM, and left us there for an unreasonable time). The napkins are paper not cloth- which don't jive with the sophisticated environment. We asked for bread and were given some thin slices of what used to be French or Italian bread, but is delivered as reheated, day old, stale 'crackers': hard as rocks - with no butter or oil. Ugh! The waitress didnt warn us that the bread would be unpalatable and dry, AND that there would be a $2. charge! Too bad. I wanted to love it... read more

Came here for the first time the other night. As soon as you walk in, you can tell that the place has a really cool vibe. I sat at the bar and the first thing I noticed was the bartender's impressive facial hair. He turned out to have a very impressive knowledge of cocktails and liquor as well. As I was leaving, someone ordered a beautiful looking frozen cocktail which I'll definitely be getting when I come back. Overall a great spot and I'll have to try some of the food next time. read more
