Phenomenal family owned business, with great service and even better prices. We had Lester Carpet install carpets in our bedrooms, closets, stairs and loft after we purchased our first home. They came out right away for an estimate and their prices were incredibly reasonable. They came back two days later and did the whole job and it turned out beautiful. We were so happy with how everything turned out, we even had them make us an area rug out of the same carpet that we used in the rest of the house. Highly, highly recommend these guys. When I walked into the store and told Neal what I was looking for, he couldn't have been more helpful, showing me sample after sample until I found the right match. I didn't get the "high pressure" sales pitch from him at all, which is a big turn off for me. A couple days later I called and spoke to Ryan to see when they could come by and take measurements. He was up at the house within an hour and worked very quickly. The installation was fast and efficient, and the carpet looks fantastic. I had a very pleasant surprise! I was on a budget & they were very understanding, showing me a great range of carpets in my price range. Wonderful company to do business with. I had them install carpet in my bedroom, not a big job but they treated me like it was. I walked in and told them I needed the carpet put in that week. Everything about our "carpet experience" was excellent. It was a pleasure picking out carpet with Jason. He is low-key but able to talk about the differences in the carpets. We went home with a board of small color carpet samples of the carpet we decided we liked. When we asked Jason to see larger pieces of the 3 colors we were considering, he had them sent directly to us from the carpet company. We bought carpet for 3 bedrooms, stairs and a large landing. It was a big job. The installers needed one day and 3 hours the next day to complete the job. They worked with only a few minutes off to grab a bite to eat. They were careful in moving furniture. One problem that occurred was that they did not realize that our staircase is sided in plexiglass which scratches easily. After they left, I noticed scratches on several panels. I reported this to Lester Carpet. The next day, Jason came to our home with a kit to remove the scratches. He worked for almost 2 hours rubbing out the scratches. The panels look perfect as does the carpet. I can't imagine a better way to buy carpeting. read more

Decent selection, friendly salesperson, but seemed a bit pricey for being a hole in the wall. Not too many materials with designs or patterns. We were looking for a 5x7 rug, but you have to buy a 12' long section so might make more sense if you're carpeting or buying a bigger rug. read more

These guys are the greatest. The best kept designer secret in LA. Not only do they have incredible prices and a great selection, they are fast and really nice. I went in and got a 12 x 12 area rug for only $300, top quality, and they didn't try to upsell me at all. Because they have a huge selection of remnants (and not just scraps, but big big rolls) they have amazing prices. They also sell regular carpeting and rugs from their 2nd story showroom, which i never knew about. read more

This is somewhat delayed, but I used them in 2011. They had incredible reviews on Angies List, so we tried them out. The service was great and they really worked to save us money but not go cheap on quality. The final price was better than everyone else, and the install was great. Can't quite understand all the raves here. Showroom (a term I use loosely) was a shambles, with no clear organization. There were a pack of guys apparently just hanging out with no one coming forth to help. When a salesman finally took a moment out of his busy social life to ask if I needed assistance he wasn't of much use. Limited selection and pricing seemed random. read more

This is a great place for carpet. They sell remnants and ends of rolls for a lot less than you would pay elsewhere. Neil Lester and his team can provide the padding, installation, everytning you need. You also can purchase large pieces and they will bind the edges ($1 per linear foot) to make an area rug for you. The studios have been using them for years. read more

Really, really nice place to do business with. Neal Lester was more interested in saving me money than pushing more expensive carpeting in my direction. This is very admirable for two reasons: one, it's his family business so he's the one that stands to directly benefit, and two, it's not like you buy carpet all that often. (Although if you want the really high end stuff, that's available, too, despite the store's "bargain-y" feel.) And I was able to have my carpet installed the day after it came in. I had purchased carpet for my staircase years ago from Lester carpet and it was a good experience; so much so that I decided to return to purchase carpet for another staircase. I went to the store, met with a very nice lady, chose my carpet and was told that the price included labor. The woman who was new to Lester carpet confirmed in front of me that the price she quoted me included the labor. I was happy and good to go. Unfortunately, today when the son of the owner came to measure... everything had changed and the price was double. I called the owner who would not budge or make any effort whatsoever. Bottom line, these people do not have their act together or they try to take advantage of people when it is time to order. I took my time twice for nothing. Lester carpets was really amazing. I ordered almost $5000.00 of engineered wood. We picked it up and it was to be installed last weekend. We were out of town when I received a call from, my installers. The wood was NOTHING like the sample. I had everything lined up after wood was installed...painter,electrician,etc. With bad wood I was in serious trouble. Not only had the wood been paid for but now I had to reschedule everyone and find new floors. I called Ryan and told him the problem. He remained calm,unlike me,told me he would get to the reps today and get back to me. He checked his sample and said it did not "match up" with the delivered wood. Anyway,long story short. The wood was incorrect and they issued a credit immediately. I am so impressed and relieved. I was expecting a big fight,which never occurred. They could not have been more professional and courteous. I will,definitely refer and shop at Lester's again. A plus business. read more

I needed a piece of carpet replaced due to a stain in my carpet. i called and they had called me back within a half hour after finding me one of their installers to help me out. So whatever I am going to say here, Lester and his crew will discredit passionately, but don't let these sneaky entrepreneurs or should I say con artists fool you. So I needed carpet at my place and they came out promptly the next day. I left him, the owners son, to his own devices to measure the area and carpet. In 5 minutes he gets back to me saying that everything looks good, and the extra carpet that I had from a friend was enough to cover the area in question. He tells me to call him back and he never does. It was not until I called him when I realized their true intentions -- to empty the pockets of a college student. They gave me an hefty price that I told them I would discuss with my father, a general contractor who has been in business for 40 years. He told me the truth, that they were trying to take advantage of my situation. I told them that is was too much and they proceeded to cut their price by almost half right there on the spot as if now they were giving me a fair price. Unwittingly, I went along and agreed to pay them quick cash for the job. They get to my place and then tell me and that the carpet is not big enough (keep in mind that the owners son validated its size the day before). They proceed to tell me that I needed to buy more carpet, no doubt another way to funnel money out of my pockets. I immediately called the manager and spoke with him to no avail, him denying son's actions and discrediting his words. I had enough with the situation so we decide to go our separate ways. The reason for this review is not to tell you that they delivered a poor service or that they were unfriendly. Most likely they compensate for their low volume of work by increasing their prices dramatically and hoping not to get caught. I am not writing this review to deter you from using Lester Carpets, but giving all the well deserving YELP users a fair warning. read more
