Upon walking in to the office, I was welcomed by a nice staff person who instructed me to fill out some paperwork. I was then taken to a room for the consultation. Dr. Yu advised to have a root canal based on his evaluation. I was then moved to another room for the actual procedure after having anesthesia injections into my mouth. After some prep work done by his very comforting staff, it was time for the games to begin! I appreciated how his staff guided me through the prep work and explained what they were doing. It honestly feels really weird to have your mouth wide open while having strange objects being placed inside. During the procedure, I could see they were passing instruments back/forth. There were weird sounds, noises and smells. I never felt uncomfortable as they always checked in to see if I was doing OK. Before I knew it, the procedure was over and Dr. Yu went over recovery expectations and the like. Overall, it was a very efficient and comfortable process. Hopefully I won't need to return anytime soon but it's nice to know that this office is available in the local area.

Steven Lu was my doc to perform the redu of the original root canal. Was in the chair for 1 hr 45 min and which is a record for me. This is full on oral surgery and was painless for my situation. you have to understand that is done upside down and through a microscope with an assistant so it's a big deal. All I can say is I had no discomfort and he was able to go in to 2 canals clean them up and put the temporary crown back on for the dentist to finish the crown. That's when the service started going downhill. I was quoted over $1000 after insurance, they were going to charge my insurance plus me paying $1000 cash. I felt like the price was unreasonable since I did a estimate on my insurances website so I said I'll have to think about it. Immediately on the spot they offered a 25% discount, good for today only. After that happened I knew that they were doing shady practices and declined. They further said what price I will be fine with doing the procedure today and they will ask the doctor to see if he will be okay with. I declined since I thought the whole process is bad practice. I then asked for my x-rays so I can show another clinic, they said they would e-mail it but I never got it. Lol. At the end, they asked me for payment for my deductible - all while charging 3% extra because I chose to pay with credit card. lol.

The staff is kind and does a great job making children feel comfortable. However, the orthodontic side has been frustrating. Orthodontic appointments are only offered on select days each month, making it very difficult to reschedule if a conflict arises. Because of the limited availability, appointments often feel overbooked and rushed. I believe expanding orthodontic clinic days would greatly improve the patient experience. The wait times can also be excessive. I've waited over an hour past my son's scheduled appointment before he was seen, particularly during after-school hours and weekends. My biggest concern came during my son's most recent orthodontic appointment. Although the orthodontist was friendly and knowledgeable, there was very little communication with me as the parent. The treatment and adjustments were explained only to my 11-year-old son, and I was not informed about what was being done, why it was being done, or what had changed before the appointment ended. I eventually had to ask the dental assistant for an explanation, and the dental assistant was very helpful in answering my questions. As a parent, I expect to be included in discussions about my child's treatment plan and any changes made during the visit. Better communication would go a long way in making parents feel informed and involved in their child's care. Overall, I think the orthodontist is skilled, and the office does a wonderful job serving families. My hope is simply that they increase orthodontic availability, reduce wait times, and improve communication with parents during appointments.
