My daughter and I had a wonderful early Mother's Day experience. The pot of tea was a very generous portion. There was more than enough food, and it all tasted great. There were some substitutions from what was written on the menu, but it did not take away from the experience. For anyone thinking they will experience full restaurant portions, y'all need to understand a tea service is not meant to be a full meal. It was originally created as a snack to be eaten between the mid-day and evening meals. It's meant to tide one over, not be a full meal. I highly recommend this business. We were able to dine on Sunday as walk-ins. Normally a reservation would be needed. Tea service was fantastic. We chose different teas so the table felt a little cluttered, but it worked out. There was plenty of time to steep and enjoy the tea before the soup arrived. Salmon chowder was phenomenal! I wanted to lick the bowl! The tower containing sandwiches, scones & dessert arrived next. It was a great experience overall. Group included 2 service dogs and wheelchair customer. Accommodations for everyone was made. Service was top notch. Owner and server provided refills on water and tea and checking in to make sure we were happy. The setting was cozy and immursive . The teas were great. If you have several people in your group, order different teas so you can try other flavors. The savories and sweets were good. The sandwiches could use more salt, pepper, paprika, or seasoning. More textures like cucumber, tomatoes, sprouts, or pickles could give it more depth. It tasted one note but there was variety like ham, egg, chicken. This place recently opened, and as I love afternoon tea, I knew I had to try them asap. They are located in the basement of the Reed Opera House. As of yet, their online presence is on Instagram. You can make reservations by messaging on there or by calling. I would recommend reservations. And make sure you are contacting the business located in Salem, Oregon. There is another business by a similar name in another state. The atmosphere is lovely, think an enchanted Victorian style tea room in a forest. Piano music was playing in the background. The owner is incredibly friendly and made us feel welcomed and at home right away. The tea selection runs towards flavored teas, but there are some more traditional offerings as well. I went with the Darjeeling, and my tea companion selected a Forest Berry Pu'er. Both were excellent! Each person gets their own pot of tea. Soon after the tea was served, the soup arrived. It was a nice addition to the tea tower items. The day I went it was a lemon chicken and wild rice soup. It was amazingly good! Wonderful flavors and the perfect amount of soup. The rest of the food offerings came soon after. There were four savory items: chicken salad sandwiches, egg salad sandwiches, cucumber sandwiches and a creamy salmon spread on crackers. All were fresh and excellent. The cucumber sandwiches had strawberry slices along with the cucumber, which was a different but good addition. Next were the scones, served with a clotted cream facsimile and apricot preserves. Real clotted cream is notoriously challenging to obtain or make in the US, and the owner admitted that she had found a reasonable alternative. I appreciated her frankness, and felt like her recipe was an excellent substitute. The scones were rich, had the perfect pull-apart texture, and melted in your mouth. The apricot preserves was perfect with the cream and scones. Lastly, there were orange glazed Madeleines and lemon possets with a strawberry compote on top. A posset is a dessert where sweetened cream is thickened to a pudding-like consistency by the addition of lemon juice. Both desserts were delicious! The posset was especially delicious and the strawberry topping went well with it. The service was awesome; the owner chatted about the food and the recipes and checked in many times to see if we needed anything. The amount of food was just right, and was comparably to a hearty lunch. This place is fantastic! I am so happy to have a place to get a wonderful, traditional afternoon tea here in Salem. Cute little quaint tea spot located in Salem at the Reed Opera house mall. There are a bunch of little cute shops on several levels. The tea place is located on the basement level. We made reservations for our high tea experience over a month and a half ago to celebrate my Birthday. We were so excited to try a new place. The staff were all nice, friendly and helpful. I tried the spiced almond chai tea and it was delicious. My stepmom ordered the caramel snickerdoodle and my friend tried a different flavor. The tower of food had a nice variety of sweets and savory items. Just the perfect amount to nibble on while you share stories and chat with your friends/family. An overall nice experience. Be sure to make reservations because it seemed busy and they had to turn people away that didn't have reservations. Will definitely be back again. read more

What a fun little place in the basement of the Reed Opera House. We were greeted by very friendly wait staff. We especially love the shrimp soup and the little French cream pudding. I love all the twinkle little lights. I think if I go back, I would definitely try a different tea. I'm not a big fan of fruit flavored tea so it was a little bit difficult for me to choice. This place was amazing! My daughter (10) and I went here on a mommy-daughter date. The tea was the best tea I've ever had and my daughter even liked it (she never has). She had the toasted marshmallow tea and I had a strawberry one (which seems to be very popular because I pretty much heard every table order it). We went on a Sunday afternoon and got right in. The food was amazing! I couldn't believe my daughter ate a roasted pepper soup. She said we need to figure out how to make it at home. :) I was really full after leaving! We will definitely be back. Despite large groups flowing in, the employees were very attentive, and we never lacked for anything. The menu was surprisingly extensive, and had amazing teas that ranged from my spiced herbal tea to a friend's color changing tea. Each of us got unique teacups and teapots, which we enjoyed equating to our individual personalities. The food was delicious but not excessively filling, and our English native declared our tea party to be almost exactly like what you'd expect in her homeland. Also, despite being in a room with no windows, the decor was tastefully set to feel like an English garden with hanging flowers and light colors. Given how many groups I saw show up with reservations, I HIGHLY recommend calling first before showing up.
