I contacted Kevin through Yelp for an estimate to run wiring on a wooden beam and adding a fan/circuit box for a light fixture I wanted to put over my pool table. After emailing him photos of the room and a description of what I was looking to have done, he was able to provide me details of what he was going to do and the cost of it all and I was pleasantly surprised at the quote he gave me. So thankful I called them! 10 pm on a Friday night and my outlet explodes out of nowhere! I didn't know if I needed an electrician right away or not, I know nothing about this sort of thing and it looked pretty bad. After talking me off the ledge over the phone he told me to fill out a contact form online so that I can attach a picture for him to look at. He could not come out but truly spent what I would say a significant amount of time trying to help me through messages. Here is a snippet of what we talked about and definitely showed his patience and care. ME: Garage small restroom and restroom on other side of the house it appears to be the same strand of outlets Kevin G.: That's what I figured. the garage outside and bathrooms are all on one circuit in your age of house. You have a GFCI receptacle that is tripped. It'll either be in the garage itself or in one of the bathrooms. You just need to find it and hit the reset button on it. ME: But the lights are also not working. In those same rooms Kevin G.: Typically the lights are on a different circuit but sometimes they're on the same circuit. First thing I would do is fine the GFCI receptacle and see if you can reset it. ME: Not working tried...also we have 2 existing that don't work as well.... And this continued on for a few more minutes...Though I ended up getting someone to come out later that day, this was super helpful! read more

We called Kevin of Let There Be Light Electric after a technician working on our bathroom renovation incorrectly installed a wall plug. This had the ripple effect of killing our washer and dryer. After researching electricians on Yelp I called Let There be Light Electric. Kevin, owner, answered the phone immediately even though it was 5:50 pm on a Friday. He asked questions to pinpoint the likely cause of our problems. We scheduled an appointment for Sunday afternoon. Saturday afternoon Kevin called and said his last appointment went more quickly then expected and he could come right over. Kevin provided stellar customer service both on the phone and in person. It was a pleasure to have him in our home. He is extremely knowledgeable! He immediately opened the breaker box and replaced one loose component and checked all the wiring. He then went upstairs and immediately found that "the neutrals were separated while the circuit was energized and since there is two 120 volt circuits in the box from different phases instead of them being 120 volts each with a neutral. Once the neutral is separated we were getting 240 volts between each leg and the return on the open neutral showed 120 volts as it does not have a return path. When this happens appliances can easily be destroyed as they're not designed to run on 240 volts even for more than a couple of seconds." Kevin rectified all the issues including getting our washer and dryer up and running again, tested all the relevant devices, and explained to us the source of the problem. Kevin also sent us a very informative report. And to top it all off, his prices were more than reasonable, especially on a weekend! Let There be Light Electric is now my go-to electrician!
