Great local dive bar and grill in Pasadena. Everyone was friendly and welcoming, the bar was completely packed when we arrived. I have finally got the chance to review this place...don't come here often enough, however this visit was started out with of town guests wanting to go. We arrived around 12:30 and found a table, party of five...we ended up taking over two seats at the bar...and like the others say, this is a local hang out, not necessarily bar flies...nice local folk. It was a sunny day and the also have seats in the rear, outside which were occupied. Wife had ordered a regular burger and I the cheese...LTO too. For being a thick burger it does take some time to cook, I believe I had finished my beer and started another before it was out...expected, this wasn't to be an in and out stop. I have been here other times and tried the grilled cheese, also recommend. and on another note, the beers are always cold...go in with few friends and you'll have a good time. If you need a multi-million dollar building to eat a cheeseburger this is not the pace for you. The Pasadena Bar is a throw back to a time when neighborhood bars were owned by people that lived in the neighborhood and were there everyday. A place where most people, if they dont know your name already, have seen you around. One guy calls it the center of the universe because everybody goes through there eventually. The drinks are affordable and pretty strong. The food all comes from a 36" flattop. If you want a burger its the place to go, but their chicken sandwiches and fried bologna sandwiches are pretty outstanding too. They only serve food from 8 am - 2 pm most days. Friday and Saturday evenings starting at 8 pm and who knows when on special occasions. If you haven't gone you should give it a try, unless your pretentious, spoiled or worried about your image. read more

Last Friday, my buddy & I decided to check out a local dive bar that I heard had a great burger, Pasadena Bar and Grill. He spoke highly of this burger, so I had to check it out. This is a pretty cool hole in the wall neighborhood spot. Nothing fancy, but the bartender was very warm and friendly. We decided to both get a burger with bacon and cheese. We debated splitting a grilled cheese or a fried bologna sandwich. We settled on a cheesey fried bologna sandwich. The food was ready in reasonable time and it looked great. The burger was thick and juicy. The cheesey bologna sandwich looked awesome as well. We dove in and really enjoyed it. The cook came down and checked on us to make sure we were happy. He also offered some amazing homemade hot sauce that was top notch. The food was great and quite filling. The best part was the cost. The burger was $7 and the bologna was $5, cash only. Great value for the amount of food. Overall, I really enjoyed my first visit to Pasadena Bar & Grill. The food, service, and drinks were on point and very economical. This is a great little neighborhood bar & grill that I would definitely recommend. Their burgers are pretty popular, so they only do them on Friday. I walked in to Pasadena Bar & Grill today with huge expectations. Over the last few months I've heard great reviews and recommendations from a variety of people all over St. Pete about this place. These people would not shut up about their cheeseburger..some say St. Pete's best. Around 1 pm (grill closes at 2 pm), I entered the small, smoke filled sausage fest..you heard me..the entire bar was packed full of beer sipping old men. The only woman in the building was the bartender. I managed to find a table a couple inches away from the bar and ordered a coke and cheeseburger (all the way, medium). Immediately I wished I would have ordered a beer because the coke was flat, but I figured I was at a bar and shouldn't care to much about a coke (though it would have been a different story if I got a flat rum and coke). I was really just thinking about the burger. The cheeseburger was prepared right in front of me. Decent sized burger. Twenty five minutes of anticipation and it was time to eat. I was ready. The burger looked great! Maybe all of the stories were true. After my first bite I knew this wasn't St. Pete's best cheeseburger. The toppings were fresh and it had two pieces of fresh sliced american cheese. The bun was very delicious and was actually the best thing about the burger. The problem was the burger itself. It was overcooked..medium well (leaning towards well) and wasn't properly seasoned. The best way to destroy the integrity of a burger is to not season it properly, followed by not cooking it right. Both were achieved. Its always a bad sign when I have to disassemble the sandwich and salt and pepper the burger. It had to be donw. In the end it was an average cheeseburger for $6. I give it C+. From now on I'm not taking burger advice from people outside of yelp. My advice..if you want the REAL best cheeseburger in St. Pete go to.. Very unfriendly old man / drunks type tiny bar. Other reviews describe a bully there and I also experienced it. It's a get drunk at ten a.m. type bar and bark at any non regulars. Too bad. Stay far far away. I went because it says bar and grill but it is far far from that. If you are under 65 and occasionaly sober you won't be interested. First, I never write reviews for places I visit to spend my hard earned money to eat and drink. But, this place really made me start thinking. Before I sat down to write this review, I went back more than once to be SURE, it wasn't just "one of those days" for the guy on the other side of the bar or me having "one of those days" on the other side of the bar. Let me start with this, I LOVE this place! Aesthetically, it's your normal working man and women's kind of place (don't find too many of those anymore. Heavy poured cocktails in those old glasses you don't see anymore, coldest beers ever, and a short and sweet menu for both breakfast and lunch with prices that match this guy's small budget! The food is good - no complaints there. Matter of fact, no complaints at all, except for one very unhappy bartender who made it his business, not only on my first visit, but my second and third visits, to be sure that everyone else in the place was unhappy too. The guy, "Tommy", everybody called him was clearly the "The Bully" of the bar. Friendly folks who entered the establishment, sat at the bar or a table happy to be there, were greeted by "The Bully". On each of my three visits, I witnessed, a random majority of these poor folks being subjected to continuous verbal abuse by this guy over and over again whether they knew it or not. As he would make continuous negative comments about folks entering and leaving the establishment with no concern of letting everyone in the place hear his comments. On my last two visit's, I found "The Bully", not behind the bar, but instead, holding court in the same bar stool in front of his "grill", with a draft beer and a mostly empty shot glass. Needless, to say when his shot glass was holding liquor, there was a lot more liquor in his glass than what the patrons were paying for in their shot glasses. Furthermore, I sure didn't see any cash exchanging hands when he bullied the bartender for another and when the bartender wasn't quick enough he'd go get it himself while bullying everyone down the line. I am not an expert, but I do know certain conditions must exist for a bullying incident to occur. A bully knows no financial, cultural or social bounds. Bullying may not look exactly the same everywhere, but it has the same devastating effect on everyone. The effects of bullying last a lifetime. It causes misery for the bully's victims, and leaves a lasting impression on all those who witness repeated bullying incidents. Bullies seek power and it's clear this bully has the power at this establishment. It's unfortunate that this bully incidentally has left a real negative lasting impression of the PB&G on me. our review helps others learn about great local businesses.
