I called levine and sons out as a second opinion. The first company I had out quoted me nearly $900.00 dollars to fix the furnace but told me that the heat exchanger was cracked and I should just replace it. The guy kept telling me how I'd be better off. I didnt want to replace my furnace since it was only 14 years old and I am not ready for such a large expense. When levine and sons showed up I never mentioned the first company as I wanted a fresh opinion of what was wrong with out any prejudice. When Jeff arrived to my house I was wowed from the moment he came to the door. He layed out a red carpet and put on shoe covers as he greated me. When I apologized for him having to come out so late he actually said it was his pleasure and he was happy he could be of assistance. Then once the formalities were over I couldn't believe how he took the time to ask questions about how the furnace was acting prior to failing, if anything out of the ordinary was happening with it or if I had any recent service calls for it. I showed him the furnace and let him to his diagnosis. Within about 15 min he came up the stairs and told me that he believes he found the issue. He told me that the pressure tube port was plugged solid on my inducer housing and it was not closing the pressure switch. This was totally different then what I was told by the first company, they told me I needed a new inducer housing assembly. Skeptical of his findings I told him to fix it. About 20 min later he returned up stairs and said that he fixed the issue and as a courtesy because it looked like awhile since I had a check up on it he checked the humidifier, capacitor, ignitor and cleaned the flame sensor. He said he was almost finished and was heading outside to grab something to flush my drains and a camera to inspect the heat exchanger because of the age of the unit. When he finished the work he came upstairs and told me that the furnace was running ok and I should be all set. He told me that my heat exchanger looks great and that he turned off all the lights as he left the basement. I then told him about the first company and showed him the summary from them. He read it as he was shaking his head and told me that he was sorry I was mislead by them and explained why his diagnosis was correct and reassured me about the heat exchanger, even offering to take me back down to show me the heat exchanger with his camera. He didnt even take the opportunity to talk bad about the other company and tried to make excuses for them saying hopefully it was an honest miss diagnosis or mabey the guy was a newer service tech. Jeff was quick and honest and did not try to sell me anything I didnt need. He only charged me 85.00 over the service call even tho he did all that extra work. Because this was the most unbelievable service experiance I have ever had I am a life long levine customer now and will stand on a mountain top to tell anyone I can about them. I have always been pleased with Levine & Sons. I joined the family plan and it is certainly worth it! All the techs with whom I have had contact have been very pleasant, professional and get the job done in one visit. Jeff and David are superb as is Teresa in the office. I had an issue with the humidifier on my furnace and my floor drain. Jeff looked at my situation and put a condensate pump on the humidifier so it would drain into my washtub instead of the floor drain. David came to do my free annual plumbing inspection (which comes with the family club) and found a tiny gas leak which he took care of. I have never been disappointed with their service. We had Mike O'Neal out today, and he was awesome. He was here within an HOUR of our call. I am very pleased with the professional courteous time with every person at Levin & Sons. My sewer pipes under the basement floor were inspected and explained in detail while the camera was exploring the sewer pipes. I unfortunately had to have them replaced, but fortunately choose to work with Levin & Sons. The crew was out the following week and completed the work quickly and cleaned every day prior to them leaving. I was only without water for a short time. We have been using Levine & sons for several years for routine maintenance. They are always very friendly and professional. This past winter we had a problem with our sump pump and they had to work outside. Due to the cold they had to come back and finish the job when it got warmer after spending 3 hours in extreme cold. They did not charge us for the first 3 hours and got our job done the minute the weather cooperated. Just wanted to say I've had a system installed by another company an can't get them back, I tried another local company with no luck, my air flow to the second floor is very low (older house) Rob Bain came highly recommended from my neighbor to resolve my air flow problem he diagnosed the problem ordered the parts returned an my air flow has doubled, The other company's have put in a new motor an a whole slew of parts with no success the new duct work pieces rob an Adam tput in works great. Replaced part, tested unit checked the charge and all is well. Adam and Paul did a good job. My only negative and I don't think its Levine and Sons faut is the expense of replacement part. Today we chose Levine and Sons for a repair on our boiler. We are very happy we did. They sent a repairman, Robert Cooper, within a few hours. He was very knowledgeable and efficient, pleasant to talk with as well. He replaced a worn, broken part ,which he had in stock on the truck, (doesn't always happen with others). I recently had levine do some service on my furnace last Saturday. The technician Jeff had my heat back on within 10 min. I loved how he used shoe covers and had his own door mat. Because he diagnosed and fixed the furnace so quickly he told me he was going to check the exchanger with a camera and clean the furnace out.
