This company is pretty much a scam that will quote you low and absolutely drain you by the end. We moved a 1 bedroom apartment that was quoted for just over $2000 to move about 90 miles. The hourly rate was higher than i liked, but the quote seemed like a good price compared to most. In the end we ended up getting ripped off and paying $5,500. We lived within 15 minutes of the company and got grossly over charged that it would take and hour and half to get to us. They proceeded to charge "travel time" essentially 2x because the actual drive to our new place was added to the standard labor costs (400/hr) while also being "travel time". The movers went absolutely absurd with tape to the point of it being a pain to get boxes open (already taped boxes i might add). They even used an entire roll to hold open a door. multiple phone breaks, spending WAY too long taping things to an absurd dergee and even through they left 10 minutes before us, it took them an additional 40+ minutes to get to the same location. Please do yourself a favor and avoid this moving company! read more

We scheduled a move last minute with Lexel and it went incredibly smoothly. Our origin location was on the third floor and it was a very hot and humid day, but the team was still quick, thorough and friendly. We had the most amazing moving experience the other day thanks to Nick and his team from Lexel. We haven't had the best moving experiences in the past, and were worried about having another terrible experience but from the beginning to end Lexel was fantastic. Alex from booking was very upfront about the hourly rate, fuel charges, travel time, etc. He even told me about a Groupon that I could purchase to pay for the first 2 hours of the move which was great. Everything is done online and is posted in a very easy to understand format. Lexel is also fully insured which was important to us. On the day of our move Nick called to let us know he was on his way with an eta. He arrived right on time 30 minutes after the beginning of our 2 hour appointment window. Nick and his team moved quickly and took great care of our possessions. They were finished quickly and nothing was damaged, even some of our very fragile items. The move in total (including drive time from Quincy to Belmont in traffic) took 3 hours. Our final price came $15 under our original quote and we received 5% off for paying in cash. We don't expect to be moving again any time soon but we plan on using Lexel when we do decide to move in the future. read more

I had my first move in my life with this guys, and felt very lucky! Everything went pretty fast and smooth, even though we had tooooons of stuff to move. Lexel moving team dropped off packing supplies days in advance, gave us some hits how to pack in the most efficient way. Unfortunately, due to a very busy working schedule, we were unable to pack all of the stuff before the moving day, so they helped us to complete the job on the spot. All of the items survived the move without a single scratch, they carefully placed all the boxes where they were planned to be, then cleaned up after they were done, and even helped us to install air conditioners which wasn't part of the contract. Good, not great. I booked Lexel to help load a POD. Since I live in the burbs, I figured I could save a bit on travel time costs by hiring Lexel. Sadly, I should have paid the extra and re-hired Stairhopper Movers. The booking process for Lexel was very easy, and their online system gave an estimate and quick confirmation. I had the same problems that others seem to have, based on reviews. Since I was the last move of the day, the guys arrived late, tired, and one short. My booking confirmation was for 3 movers, however only 2 were available. They did discount my rate by $20/hr, but I feel like if 1/3 of the labor is missing, a better discount should have been offered. The 2 guys who did show up were great, so maybe if you're the first move of the day, you'll have a better experience. read more

Add us to Lexel's long list of happy customers. I've personally experienced (long ago) a moving company damage my furniture. I've also actually read the standard insurance policies all the movers are now using and they're barely worth the paper they're written on. Basically if it's damaged, it's just tough luck. So my biggest concern with this move was finding a company with a reputation for care. Lexel had an excellent reputation, were available when we needed them, and gave among the best pricing of the companies we contacted, so we chose them. I can't speak highly enough about their service, work ethic, teamwork, professionalism, and friendliness. These guys rock. They spent probably a couple hours carefully wrapping our furniture to protect it. They worked beautifully together, continually coordinating themselves and never slowed for a moment of the 10 hour day. Nothing ever banged into a wall, railing, or anything else. Never complained, never swore (not that I'd care - it just struck me how professional they were), never raised a voice. Just worked. Hard. All day. It's been a month since our move so there's been plenty of time to notice any damage if there was any. There wasn't. We're thrilled with Lexel and would definitely go with them again. Cannot say enough about the horrible experience I had w/ Lexel. I hired them to pack me (which they did a good job of) and move me long distance from Boston to TX. Although, they were very late to move me out (1 hr outside of the 3 hr provided time window). When they arrived in TX to move me in, they only showed up with 2 movers even though I was told there would be 3. They did not bring a dolly or anything to move my stuff so the move ended up taking over 4 hours to move in a 1 bedroom apt. The movers had no dolly or hand truck to move my belongings and expressed surprise at the "long hallway". Why would a loading dock go directly into one's apartment? I also wrote on the invoice that it was going to be an elevator move. I called to express my frustration and they found no record of my move despite searching by name and phone number. I even asked them to look up my move out that occurred on June 13th and they could not find me on the calendar. How can that be possible?? No one returned my phone call despite me calling multiple times during the 4 hours (I was told the manager was out to lunch) and no one called me back. My mattress bag was completely ripped in multiple places and my mattress is permanently stained with oil damage. I watched the movers who were rushing remove the moving blanket from my custom tufted headboard they sliced it with a boxcutter. This is a custom $2000+ headboard that cannot be repaired. 2 weeks went by without a single call back. Only email and text messages. I got a measly insurance check and they offered a $50 coupon for my next move. That's hilarious that they think I would ever use that. After explaining how laughable that was, they gave me a check for that amount. If you care about your belongings and actually getting the service that you pay for, go somewhere else. It should be reasonable to get a call back during a 4 hour move during business hours. read more

Lexel Moving was a very mixed bag for my September move in 2016. The quality of the move was amazing - the guys that came to move my bedroom furniture out of a fully occupied apartment on the third floor of a Brookline brownstone were awesome, and moved everything quickly, carefully, and efficiently. However, not once during the estimate process, nor during the move (until the very end) did anyone mention the 3-hour minimum. My move was done in less than 2 hours, but I had to pay for 3 regardless (again, no mention of this from the quote) and I ended up paying about $150 more than quoted in the estimate AND at the beginning of the move. I was unable to find any documentation on their website that they do indeed have a 3-hour minimum. I did really appreciate the care that our movers took to move our possessions, but I was taken aback at the lack of communication and was not at all pleased that the mover came back to the original apartment after finishing the job to "fix" the bill. read more

Here are a few reasons why you should avoid Lexel at all costs: - Ross and Alex lie and accuse the customers of making up services that were promised and errors that were made by movers and the bookers. Any concerns you bring up to Ross or Alex, they immediately feign ignorance and try to spin the story in their favor. - Disrespectful to customers--I was told that I was "emotional" about my move when I called with a concern. There is effectively no customer service. - Moving team is unprofessional and barely speaks English--it took over 60 min. to put together a bed. The team also wore flip flops for the move. - Ross and Alex are unresponsive to customers during moves - Wait times can be over 3 hours--Ross specifically told me that being within 3 hours of a delivery window is acceptable. read more

This is a small local business and I've seen their trucks around so I thought I'd get a quote and give them my business. The move was somewhat small and fairly easy but these two merv and one big truck did the job with ease and speed. They were courteous and handled every morning box with care as well as the items that were too big for boxes. Was quoted $500-$750 but it ended up being around $1,100. It is seriously well worth it - I cant remember the names of the two young guys that moved us but they were phenomenal. We moved from a one bedroom into a three level townhouse, and they worked really hard but also super carefully to get everything where it needed to be, and up many flights of stairs. If anyone is reading this, make sure you have bottled water/Gatorade on hand for them as a nice gesture and tip well, it's not an easy job! read more

PLEASE READ BEFORE HIRING LEXEL!! Find ANYONE else... This is literally the only review I've ever written on YELP for anything at all, because it's the only compellingly bad enough experience to warrant some consumer caution. We initially hired Lexel for our move based on positive reviews and competitive pricing... this was a mistake. Anyone who has ever moved (whether it be across the street or across the country) knows it can be a painful experience - PLEASE save yourself some stress & money by finding a better moving service... or, if you hire Lexel, keep expectations very low. 1. Don't expect to pay what you are quoted for -- Once Lexel had our things in their possession, our $2,400 quote interestingly enough became $4,200. No justification for the change, and nothing you can do when they have all your belongings unless you feel like hiring a lawyer. 2. Don't expect to get your things on time -- We gave Lexel 2-months notice for our move-in date and they provided a 10-day window for delivery (which was annoying, but fine). Nearing the end of that 10-day window, we had no update so we contacted Lexel... our things were delayed, should be there next week. Next week comes, no things. Delayed again, maybe next week... Our truck finally showed up 3 weeks late of our move-in while Lexel treated the situation nonchalanty with no recourse or refund. 3. Don't expect to receive your things in good condition -- Lexel's movers professionally wrapped and packed our sectional couch themselves. It showed up with wet, molded cushions and rust stains. Dented wine cooler. Scratched chairs and dressers. Our bar top bowed in the middle from so much weight being stacked on top. 2 shattered picture frames. Plenty more -- point being, they don't give a sh*t about your stuff once they're paid. It doesn't feel great bashing a company like this, but there have to be better options out there and hopefully you can find one. read more

Horrible company to work with. My move was reserved on August 2nd. I received confirmation twice via email that this was scheduled for tomorrow morning, which included a reservation number. On 8/30 I called to confirm everything was good to go. The worker was insanely rude. Claimed he could not find my reservation number. My phone number wasn't linked to a reservation etc. They booked over my reservation that was made a month in advance and forced me to go through another company the day before my move. When I got off the phone I received a cancellation email, meaning I in fact had a reservation booked. I would not recommend going through Lexel movers. But if you do make sure when you reserve you call 5 times in advance to confirm your reservations. 0 out of 5 stars. ATROCIOUS experience. read more
