I've always dreaded taking my car into other shops, always being sold on something I don't need or or just being painfully confused. Not here. Cant say enough positive things about Paul, Michelle, and the entire team at Lextech... I was visiting my mom from the Bay area and found the perfect used Lexus on Craigslist. After looking at it in person, the only thing stopping me from buying was knowing whether or not it was mechanically a wise purchase. I called around and spoke to Michelle who was incredibly knowledgeable and assured me that they could do a full pre-purchase inspection for $75 (half the price of another 4star rated business) and could let me know if there was anything that needed fixing or mechanically wrong to be concerned about. I made an appointment and met the seller at Lextech later that same day. Paul did a full inspection and took me for a test drive while the seller waited in the lounge area (with plenty of fresh coffee and good TV to keep him company). During the test drive Paul pointed out everything that was of concern and told me in terms of priority and timing, what needed fixing. His input and feedback was exactly what I needed to make my decision and upon return, they printed out everything we discussed, which enabled me to negotiate a fair purchase price. The seller and I settled on a price and signed the paperwork right then and there!! I couldn't have been happier! I left my new car overnight (inside and secure) so they could put on 4 new tires (they gave me several price points to choose from) and change several fluids before my long drive home to SF. When I returned the next day to pick up my car, Paul even took the time to show me all the ins and outs of my new car, including where to fill fluids and how to use the tiptronic controls. Talk about going WAY ABOVE AND BEYOND!! The level of service I received from beginning to end, both on the phone and in person, was as good as it gets! It felt like I was part of their family receiving the most personalized care you could hope for. I came in for a simple oil change for my 1996 Honda Accord and was given the following recommendations (only 1 hour of inspection): brake hose leak, spark plug replacement, and sparks plug wires replacement. So I went with recommendation to fix the brake hose leak. Lextech was nice enough to give me a ride down the street. The next day I came to pick up my car and the check engine light was still on. Without looking under the hood the guy said that he thinks it is my carburetor, so I got annoyed because how can you tell me my carburetor is bad without even looking at the car and why was it not on the recommendations list from the day before. So this pissed the heck out of me because 1) I hate it when mechanics try to take advantage of women 2) I hate bull shitters. The guy later explained that the oil change and brake hose was replaced, but that they have no control for when the check engine light would turn on or off. Long story, I am not planning to come back to this place. I would much rather drive the 30 miles to my original mechanic. BEWARE of this PLACE!!!! read more

Great experience today on my first ever trip to Lextech. Encountered friendly people who are great communicators so you're never left wondering what's going on, how much you'll be charged, or how long your service will take. It is a little tricky to see from the road, especially if you're driving East on Sunset, so keep an eye out and map it first. Upon arrival I told them I needed an oil change, inspection, and potential filter and transmission fluid change. I also mentioned that I had a brake light out and it was immediately fixed with a fresh bulb, free of charge. With over 120,000 miles on my old girl, they recommended the "timing belt package" (usually needed after 90-100K miles), but were never pushy about it, just let me know it's something to keep in mind. Way too expensive for me right now, but good to know! CLEAN BATHROOMS! Win! Water/ soda while you wait as well, which is a nice touch on a hot day. They quickly changed my air and oil filters, oil, and transmission fluid (something that often costs at least $75 on it's own), which was apparently black. Total came to $112 for everything, and I don't think they even charged me for the air filter because I had to wait just a bit for it. I freaked out when they said they washed my car for free and they did say "just the inside" when I acted so surprised. When I got in my car and saw my same dusty dashboard and crumbs, I felt a little silly for how excited I got. They meant they washed the INSIDES of my car, like the engine, duh. Of COURSE they didn't wash my car! That was my daily allotted blonde moment. And still nice that the parts are clean. :) read more

I found this place on Yelp and based on the 5 stars, I took my 2002 Lexus RX300 there. The staff is very nice, honest, and do a great job. My air conditioner wasn't working and was making a weird knocking noise...and my car was doing some weird not starting sometimes and idling weird. I left my car there and later got a call from Paul telling me I had a bunch of CDs that fell behind my glove compartment that got in the way of the fans for the a/c. It was a simple fix of removing the CDs and adding an air filter. I had previously took my car to a mechanic near my house and he told me to take it to Lexus because they will have to take my whole dash apart! What a relief to know it was just CDs that fell into the fan that was causing to to stop blowing air. There is nothing wrong with my a/c and it works great. So, I had him do my breaks, fix the sensor that was giving me trouble and do my timing belt since my car has over 100,000 miles on it. Since he earned my trust, I asked him about my boyfriend's car, who just the night before got his catalytic converter stolen from his Toyota 4Runner. I guess this is pretty common. Paul told me he should just get an after market one so they won't keep stealing the expensive Toyota one. I called my bf and told him to tow his 4Runner to Lextech, and he did and Paul charged him about half of what his local mechanic quoted him. He also fixed a bunch of other things. So, we were about to leave to get on the bus to go home, since we were both car-less, and they tell us they have a rental car on the way for us. I was in shock! I have never had this level of service from a mechanic shop. When we picked up our cars, the next day, he had washed my car and cleaned out the inside. My car was a disaster inside before he cleaned it. He neatly boxed up all my Cds and miscellaneous junk, vacuumed and put everything neatly in my trunk. I was not expecting this. And to top it off, he popped the huge dent out of the corner of my bumper of my car...and didn't charge me for it. I would recommend Lextech to anyone. They are professional and great mechanics. They used to work at a Lexus dealership, so they are highly trained. read more

Came in for a simple oil change. They used the wrong sized plug that wouldn't thread, then they sprayed some shit on there to make it fit and told me my oil pan was messed up and needed replacing. Really, if they had used the correct sized plug in the first place this wouldn't have happened and turns out I didn't need a new oil pan at all. Thanks a lot. read more

Been going to Lextech since they were on Sunset Blvd. Take my Lexus, Sienna, Camry & Corolla to them. Last month my daughter told me on a Friday she was driving up on Monday to get her apt ready for school & her 2006 Camry was @ 100 miles short of it's oil change. So we brought it in on Saturday & they found a leak in the water pump after noon. Thankfully they were able to fix it that day before my daughter's trip. Paul & his crew are always friendly, professional & accomodating. They appear to be moving locations a bit more, but each time, they seem to be moving closer to where I live! read more

There are two things that you can't put a price on, having a Doctor who truly works for your health and having a Mechanic who truly cares about keeping your car on the road. Thankfully Lextech is an auto repair shop that does just that. I have been getting my vehicle serviced exclusively with them since I first purchased a Used 04' Hybrid in 2012 which is one of their specialties and I've never regretted it. I would never trust any franchise auto shop to get under the hood of this vehicle based on my history of negative experiences with places like Meineke, Midas and Pep Boys who always seem to "Find" a problem that you didn't come there to address and that your car did not acknowledge to exist until they "looked for it". That type of scamming doesn't happen with Lextech, at least not from my repeat and regular experiences which primarily consist of regular oil changes and the expected wear down of one part or another that requires a replacement. In every occasion they have always been forthright about what the problem is and have always presented options to repair it based on my budget. They truly exceed any expectation that I could have had for an auto repair shop as they work tirelessly to address an issue and do not give up until it has been with courteous service, open communication and even a connection with a rental car company where if needed a discounted vehicle will be provided and driven to the shop (as well as left there when finished). When I'm in the area I frequent local businesses and let other business owners know of my opinions about Lextech because they truly are a quality service and are deserving of anyone's business who is looking for a place that they can depend on. read more

So an old lady drives up to Lextech and says; say I need brakes and I don't have that much money, and Paul ( the owner) says, ok, let's see what we've got here. Long story short...without charging me a left lung, I got my brakes AND wind shield wiper blades AND a free car wash. Can't beat that with a stick. WOW!!! What do you mean what more can a customer ask for? I drove 26 miles twice after speaking with you and being told "your car is ready" just to find out when I got there that this was not the case and as for the hacks working on the car I pointed it out to you from day ONE that this was the case and I even produced the Sound system Hack to show you what his hackadocious self had done, but last i checked i did not have aftermarket seat belts installed or a custom air conditioning system and those were the issues that the car was left with that were NOT present when the car first got to your shop. All in all if i ever want to turn an SC300 into a drift car, need service om my Prius or if I ever get that Supra Turbo I would definitely seek your service and advice but as for the LS430 two stars for you sir. read more

I've been meaning to write these guys a glowing review for months, but didn't remember until I called them for info about my last service and a little advice- both of which they happily gave. I bought my car used earlier this year but wasn't able to negotiate a third party inspection before I signed the papers (why is it so hard to get that??... I digress). So when I was getting ready for to drive across several states with everything I owned stuffed in the car, I thought it might be time to get the car inspected...and an oil change. I explained my 1yr warranty and upcoming trip to Paul and his wife, and without hesitation they promised to give it a once-over along with the oil change- at no extra charge. I got a call from them later that afternoon (as promised and on time!), listing the several big ticket items I needed to repair/replace, and then some guidance on how to work with the warranty company. I don't know about you, but when a repair shop has to do a back and forth among dealerships and warranty companies, it tends to to go slowly and poorly. Not with Lextech! They got the repairs approved and kept me up to date throughout. They fixed it all in a day and gave me a ride to pick it up. Total cost? $35. Oh, and they topped off my fluids and tires :) I won't be moving back to that area of town, but as long I'm in the LA basin I'll be taking my car to Lextech for EVERYTHING. You can't overvalue a mechanic you can trust, and Paul is that man. read more

My gf's car was having alignment and suspension issues. She was afraid of going to just any mechanic alone thinking she'd get ripped off. I found lextech via its good yelp reviews, took her there and Paul took care of us. He immediately walked up to us and knew what the problem was within a few minutes of checking the car out and explained the process of what needed to be done in non-mechanic english terms for us. I even learned a few things. Free water bottles, nice clean waiting area that didnt smell like grease and oil, several coffee shops and restaurants down the street (while you wait), friendly staff all around. He was friendly and didn't give off that sleezy-ripoff-mechanic vibe. After he was done, he even gave us a mini-tour of his workshop and the exact work that was done to her rotors. He comes off as the type of mechanic that has mastered his craft and takes pride in what he does now, love these kinda places since they're hard to find these days. His price was wayyyy more than fair, i was shocked. Perhaps this is why he has so many loyal customers and yelp reviewers, guaranteed repeat business. This is how business is done. Another happy customer . - Brief Overview before i came into lextech. I was having some weird suspension/steering movement these last couple of weeks and was getting worse with every mile i drove, So i knew it was time to bite the bullet and have the dealer look at it. I called lexus of santa monica to see how much they would charge me to diagnose the issue i was having. I got an insane quote of 175 dollars just for them to look at the car. So i was no where near to paying for that so i googled for a reliable lexus shop in the la area and came across lextech. - Today June 1st, 2013 So today i finally decided to give this place a call around 11am to see if they can look at my car and hopefully fix the issue before the car leaving me stranded somewhere. So i called, spoke to Paul who told me to come down around 1pm so he can look at my car and find the root cause of this weird issue i was having. I showed up a little late and was greeted by Paul who then proceeded to ask me some standard questions about the type of maintenance i had done on the car and any accidents or anything the car had. After starting the paper work we went for a drive so he could hopefully replicate the issue i was having. After having an idea of where the issue was coming from we went back to the shop and they lifted the car up. Couple of minutes later he came back and showed me what was causing the problem. My sub-frame of the car had came loose and the bolts holding it down were on there last turn before coming loose. Paul was able to tighten them down and we went for another test drive to confirm the problem was fixed. After taking the car out of the drive way the problem was gone. Just like that my issue was fixed and i was NOT given the run around about replacing this and that like any other mechanic would of done. He did give me some future recommendations but was not pushed to replace them now. So the moment to pay came down and i was thinking i would still have to pay somewhere around the 175 the dealer was going to charge me, only to find out i was only being charged 1/4 of the price the dealer was going to charge me. I went from being worried i would have a list of emergency repairs to do. To only having four bolts tighten and walking away with a giant smile on my face. - Overview Overall my experience here was far superior then the lexus service departments i have been to in the past. (Longo Lexus, Glendale Lexus and Santa Monica lexus) i would highly recommend this place to anyone who recently had there warranty expire or someone needing emergency repairs and needs a shop who will give you a better dealer experience at a fraction of the cost. Paul and his crew are the best! I do most of the work on my 4Runner myself, but every now and then it needs a professional. I am very picky when it comes to who works on my rig. Prices are fair and the work quality is excellent. Paul has bailed me out twice now by making a complicated (to me) repair in 1 day, which allowed me to keep my plans. He also spends the time to test drive the 4Runner with me so I can show him all the noises and quirks that bother me. He even hooked me up with a Toyota nut/bolt supply kit to keep in the vehicle for off-roading. I would recommend to anyone with a Toyota. read more

I took my '99 GS400 for it's 60,000k service. Had just bought it and wanted to baseline it and have it more thoroughly looked over for worn out parts that needed replacing as well as to see how the fluids were in the engine and transmission. Now, I did a little bit of research on this car's generation and kind of knew what may be in need of repair before I got there. During the service the Lextech crew checked the suspension, brakes, motor, checked over the electrical systems going through each door one y one. Checked the timing belt and hoses, pump. Rotated the tires. Paul Meeker was very attentive to my questions and concerns about the car and actually sat down and took the time to explain how a few things worked. He is absolutely an honest mechanic and business owner, because with the age of my car, he could have talked me into replacing several items that are usually the first to wear out on this model, thereby adding to the service fee. But, instead he pronounced all in great condition and told me just to keep an eye on it at every oil change. Paul was, also, kind enough to reset the ECU so it could learn my driving habits. I will definitely go back to Lextech for each major service and highly recommend Lextech to everyone with any vehicle, but esp. Lexus owners. Oh, and they also washed my car! Great shop! read more

Toyota fj cruiser... 8 yr old. Alex at lextech told me it would be as much as $4500. He also advised that I should consider trading the car in because it may not be worth the fix. I took it to the dealer for a second opinion. The dealer found the same issues and would have cost around 1000 bucks more and on top of that the dealer found other issues. Took it back to lextech. Alex told me he thought the other issues were bogus and I went ahead with the work. They did it in one day. Car is running great. Appreciated his honesty and timeliness of the service. I waited a moment with my dog, which was just fine because they have this hang-out area and the lady offered my dog water and a treat too! They made recommendations on what I should get fixed, but were pragmatic as to what is essential and not. My car had been giving me trouble for months, for various reasons, so I was a frequent visitor of a reputable mechanic with lots of auto/customer service awards on their wall. The work was pricey, but I'm a female who knows nothing about cars and just moved to LA with no one to help me navigate carland, so I obliged. I brought my car in, and they couldn't quite pinpoint the problem. They finally reached a conclusion and recommendation they gave me was going to cost me $1000. Horrified and on the verge of a breakdown, I came to yelp to research a second opinion. In enters my lifeline. While they knew the last recommendation was wrong and totally misdiagnosed, they couldn't figure it out what was wrong with it. Some hours go by, and I'm waiting and they ask me if I have any other commitments that day and wouldn't I like to use their car because it's best if I leave mine with them. They totally offered that so I wouldn't be put out, and were so nice about it. So I took their car and went to work. The next day they called to say it was ready. At this point I've misplaced my atm card and have a limited amount of cash and didn't get a chance to get to the bank, and Paul (the owner and my saviour) says, "don't worry, pay us when you can". I was like, "seriously?! What if I never come back?!!". He very simply replied, "we know where you live", and laughed. We both did, and that's when I realized their m.o. wasn't to turn and burn. They are so in tune with the people that come across their shop, and treat them like human beings, not cash cows. They're concerned with treating the problem and making the pain in the ass trip to the mechanic not so painful. How can I claim to have insight into them? Well, because my car story does not end there. I had the problem from hell, they had that car in the shop for over two weeks, and after testing and placing different parts and testing again couldn't get that check light engine to turn off. I picked it up a couple of times, because it seemed to be running fine, and then bam! it would go on again. In the meantime, Michele the Wondrous Woman is in great communication with me. She is so down to earth, so chill and cool, so helpful, making sure that I was alright with my loaner car and even offering her help with my upcoming car registration, since I wouldn't physically have the car ready to pass inspection. After having exhausted all their efforts, they were left with no other recourse than to take it to Honda. It took THEM 3 days to figure it out; it was a super rare issue that very rarely happens to this make. Lucky me!! When I went to pick up my car, Paul said to me, "your car drove me crazy". I bet. After the countless hours they spent on my car, the total tally was still under $500 below what the other reputable mechanic wanted to charge me. They could've charged me up the wazoo, and would've been in their right to. And just to reiterate, what the other guys said needed replacing didn't even need to be replaced. GRRRRRR!!! Oh yeah, did I mention Paul and the boys cleaned my car? And oh yeah, Michele said, without hesitation, "if you have any other problem, come to us right away. Warranty on repairs". Umm...I would've posted my face on the wall with a caption underneath that said, "DO NOT LET HER BACK IN". To end the review, I want to say they've made a customer for life. They truly went above and beyond in customer service. They treated me with respect and went out of their way to make sure I wasn't inconvenienced.
