I called two HVAC companies before I saw the Elite van. Both told me I needed a new furnace and likely a new AC as well. Both assured me it was the most reasonable solution and Both offered financing to soften the blow of their "ballpark" and "unofficial" quote. I was discussing the possibility of going without heat this winter when I noticed I was following Elite. I called the number on the van. It's a family owned company and that is important to me. I tend to want to support the owner/contractor model of business. Jacob and Raven from Elite showed up on time after having confirmed the appointment. They performed some tests and Jacob told me that the issue was my thermostat. Not my furnace. Not my A/C. I needed a new thermostat. Elite solved my problem but more importantly, they were honest. They are a family run business with integrity. Now, I *will* need a new A/C unit not too far down the road. I will need a new furnace sooner, rather than later. And my first and only call will be to Elite. (They do plumbing, too!) A popular property management company uses Elite and now I do too. He resurfaced and pretended to show worthless photos on his phone that could have come from anyone's residence 6 months earlier. He saw that I was an easily misled senior and so he scammed me out of $1,600 cash for a $200 sewer line leak. If you want to see for yourself how successful this company is, just go to their place of business in San Jacinto. It is a veritable junkyard. They have converted an old scrapyard into their place of business. It is fenced in, walled in, and completely locked up so that no customers can visit them. It's total crap. Exceptional customer service. The technician that came out diagnosed in 5 minutes and took. The time to explain what was broken and a basic overview of how the system worked. I used to be an electrician so I know he wasn't trying to oversell me on services I didn't need. Basically my capacitor went out and that was the main issue. The relay had contacts that needed replacing which I agreed with him on replacing plus he installed another complement to enhance the longevity of the system. Not to mention he did a coil cleaning. This isn't the case with RASP HVAC because the service isn't being provided by a "company" but by the man himself. My brand new AC system installed by the home builder started with a leak that left us with issuing a warranty claim after the first year of operation. The warranty repair never sealed the leak and we ended up with a sweltering home in the middle of summer in just a couple years. I found RASP HVAC on Yelp a few years later and after taking to Joseph thought he might be able to find the leak. Even though he wasn't able to find the leak, Joseph went the extra mile to check every component in the system and even some that aren't so obvious or easily accessible. Knowing he couldn't find the leak, he gave me a discount on the recharge. Although I'll have to continue to deal with my home builder's sloppiness, Joseph's honesty and integrity is what sets him apart from all others in the HVAC industry.
