I came here last year to get some new prescription glasses because Costco didn't replace just the lenses (I had to buy new frames from them too). After examining my eyes, Dr. Li said that my eyes got a little worse and needed new prescription. I showed her my current glasses (which were done at Garden Grove Costco Optometry) and told her to make new ones the way my current ones functioned because I felt very comfortble with them. I expected my new glasses to be equally comfortable or better but the opposite happened. I spent almost $500 for my new 3 pairs of lenses and one $20 frame (the other 2 frames were mine). The office didn't finish my glasses for almost 3 months (yes, 3 months). I was okay because I could still use my Costco glasses. When I tried the new glasses, I didn't feel comfortable at all but Dr Li told me that it took time for me to adjust to them. I took her advice and left. After two weeks, I came back and told her that I felt dizzy with the new glasses and requested her to fix them like my Costco glasses. She told me that she could adjust them a little and I had to try to get adjusted to the new ones, and that she could not help me if I could't get adjusted to the new ones (that meant she could not make the ones like my Costco glasses). She adjusted one pair first and I was trying to wear them for a few weeks. The glasses didn't feel better. I didn't have time, so didn't come back right away. When I came back, they told me that they couldn't do anything with my glasses because it passed 3 months since I got my glasses. Nobody at that office informed me about their 3 month "deadline" policy . Now, I'm still wearing my Costco glasses. I greatly regret that I wanted to save over $120 on new frame at Costco and wasted my $500 at Dr Li's office! read more

I've been coming to this optometry for like...10+ years. It used to be good, but I think they got greedy for money. They started charging additional for "contact lenses consultation". I've been using the same contact lens for at least 5, 6 years...I just need to make sure my prescription is the same, so I really don't need "consultation". For the past several months, my females friends have all been giving me crap. Friend: D, look at that hot guy over there! he's got such pretty features Dani: huh? which guy? can't see? he's too far away. Friend: ARGH! get some contacts!! I don't wear my glasses when I'm going out, so my near-sightness is about to cost me some friendships. Reluctantly, I got an appointment at Dr. Li's office. 1ST VISIT: -------------- I waited in the hallway to talk to Dr. Li about what exactly does the "contact exam" involve. Inside the exam rm, I hear this dude growl in pain like a little girl, torture chamber? He come out of the room, big buff muscular dude, was trying to put some contact lenses in his eyes, all the while continue to growl in pain. When he finally stopped struggling w/ his eyeball, I could see his bloodshot eyes. Holy !@#$, I ran out of there scared sh*tless. I'm just gonna tell my friends that I'm not getting contacts whether they like it or not. No reason for me to check out hot guys for them! My eyeballs are too fragile! ... 2 months later... Friend: D, check out that hottie bartender over there! Dani: ummm, sorry hon, can't see. Friend: wtf? I thought u got contacts already!!!!!! We are not hanging out anymore til u get some contacts!!!!! ARGH! 2ND VISIT: --------------- Dr. Li is great, very attentive and very thorough with the eye exam. I explained to her that I will only be wearing contact lenses occasionally (spared her the specifics on checking out hot guys!). She recommended a specific type for me and taught me how to put them in. Much easier than I thought. :) Definitely recommend! Is it weird to say that I love going to the optometrist? I actually look forward to my annual eye exams 'cause Dr. Li is amazing as well as her staff! They speak English, Cantonese, and Vietnamese here so it's a plus since their location is in the heart of Bolsa. The office is very clean and organized. I see them wipe down the equipment after each patient. Usually her appts book up fast so be sure to call early to make an appt. I never really have to wait long w/ an appt, but if you're a walk-in be prepared to wait. Dr. Li is such a friendly and warming person. She makes you very comfortable and takes her time talking to you 1 on 1. It's nice 'cause she always gives me advice about school and life. I never feel rushed during my appointments at all. All the tests she does are very thorough and she is a funny person. She always says I have boring eyes cause every time I come, I still have 20/20. I guess that's a good thing cause she's been my optometrist for so long and my eyes are perfect! They have a wide selection of glasses/sunglasses and contacts here too! read more

Been going to Dr Li for about 18 years. Now my wife and kids do too. She is so caring and gentle with the kids. And with her experience, she literally has seen it all. Within a couple minutes and a few well-placed questions she is able to describe what my kids do/do not do. And she noticed that their eyes are strained from prolonged screen time. She recommended more outdoor activities and they will not need glasses. Sure enough, we reduced their screen time and had them play outside more (biking and playing in the backyard) and their eyes are doing might better. They are also much happier and heathier. And their phones have seen very little use since. She really works with you in terms of pricing as well. My VSP only covered a certain portion, and we were able to negotiate the cost of the frames that fit my budget. Very happy with everything she has done for my family throughout the years. Used to be good back in 2013, 3 stars. Dr. Loretta answered all my questions patiently and seemed caring on what solutions I should use for my ortho-k and so forth. Wait time was around 15-30 min. Didn't print out prescription, though, so that's why I'm not rating it 5 stars. Parking is bad, but not their fault. Now it seems to have broken down. - Wait time average 1-2 hours. They take new patients first, and there are so many new patients. Doesn't seem to be enough staff or machinery. - My Ortho-k lens seem to be too cheap. When I lost my ortho-k lens, I got a new replacement, but it gives me right eye 20/70 vision because my right eye is so bad, like 20/400 or something. She tells me she doesn't know why my right eye is bad after wearing the ortho-k lens. The price is very cheap like $400 per lens instead of the average $800 per lens, so I guess it comes from China. My new optometrist used a microscope to look at the branding of the Ortho-k lens but there was no brand, so it seems like it's from China, cause she told me "we have to order you new ortho-k lens." - Nothing is ever solved in appointments. She answers my questions honestly it seems, but I think she knows that the Ortho-k lens are cheap but won't admit them, so that was the dishonest part probably. I was never pressured into buying anything, probably cause I was already an Ortho-k patient. That's the only good part. Will update review if they print out my prescription or give me a refund for my Ortho-k lens on my right eye or good replacement. read more

I have since Dr Li every year since I was 12. (I am 36 now). I have driven from Los Angeles to see her for many years. I am near sighted and have worn contact lenses since middle school. Dr Li and her staff have always been very friendly and knowledgeable. She has always been aware of cost for me. And has always been great about informing me of new lenses on the market. (I found my favorite lens ever - Total dailies - from her recommendation.) The wait times seemed to have improved in recent years. I have never had an issue getting copies of my prescriptions. And I make it clear that I purchase my lenses on the internet. I have purchased frames elsewhere and had just the lenses done here because it was more cost effective. They were always great quality. I had a sudden issue with dry eyes over the course of a year. I saw Dr Li who recommended non preservative eye drops. And possibly switch lenses at some point. Several months later I saw an ophthalmologist at Jules Stein Eye Institute who said my contact lens fit was excellent and gave me the same exact recommendation for eye drops. I will see Dr Li forever! She conservatively and expertly managed my eyes as I grew into adulthood, which I believe really saved my eyesight! read more

Too greedy trying to get as many customers in as possible, I assume. My whole family came and we finally gave up and left after 2 hrs of waiting...2 hrs folks you read it right. And not like they are providing the service for free...their pricing is not cheap...so, take my advise..go somewhere else where you can get good service and people that at least have respect for your time. I was recommended by my cousin who is a friend of the doctor and we have been there for awhile. And I always notice that the wait time there is at least an hour. This establishment deserves a 1000 stars. It is a prime example of a business based on genuineness and hard work........ and not written with over 200 false reviews like other optometry offices. I am truly impressed by Dr. Loretta and her team. This is my second time coming here. Before I came, I called over 7 different optometry offices to check prices on lens. Her's was by far... the most competitive. I had my eyes examined before by 3 other places, but hers was the best! Loretta measured my eyes with all the normal kinds of instruments and machine that optometrists usually use. But what I really appreciate was that she combined both technology and her years of experience to carefully write my prescription. She took into consideration of my career, daily usage of glasses, hobbies etc. Unlike other optometry places that just writes down what their technology tells them to and without ever asking personal questions.... Dr. Loretta took her time to explain to me why she changed the numbers. Contacts: Her staff was sooooo patient! She sat with me for almost 15-20 mins to instruct me on how to put them on and take them off. I felt so bad that she was next to me for so long. I even told her that it may take a while and that if she had to do other work she should and not wait. She insisted to stay to teach me. I really appreciate how I never felt rushed. Glasses: She went out of her way to show me what my glasses prescription would look like and I got to try the lens on. Most places would just print you out a prescription number and it would come out wayyyyy too strong when they finally make the lens (cough *EYESMART* cough*). Thank you again Dr. Loretta and staff! I went to Dr. Li when I had my very first pair of glasses back in the fifth grade! I was young back then so it was my mom who took me here (cuz she paid) and didn't comprehend good service back then. I have visited several optometrists since, but felt pretty meh about all of them. I decided to come back here again as an adult. I was so happy with the service I received here. The receptionists were really friendly and nice. They speak a variety of languages, I think. I only waited 10ish minutes before my appointment until I saw Dr. Li. She was soooo sweet and I felt very comfortable with her. It was a really pleasant exam and she was accurate with my prescription. She gave me some tips and pointers. I also feel that the pricing for the exam is extremely reasonable. Costco is like $89 for contact lens exam, but it's only $58 here. Their wellness exam is only $35 as well (just glasses). Also the prices for the contacts are pretty reasonable. I think online is cheaper, but there are always some rebates available if you purchase in store which makes it cheaper than purchasing online. read more

I've been going to 20/20 Vision for 15+ years. That place has the worse reviews out of any optometrist in OC. Going to Dr. Li was a godsend! She spent a great deal of time helping me choose the best contact lens for my astigmatic eyes. She is truly a caring and meticulous doctor. I had my last exam from 20/20 Vision in January and Dr. Li took a quick look at the RX and knew instantly that there was something wrong with it! She and the rest of her staff were so nice, I felt like I could stay and have tea with them. They speak Cantonese, Vietnamese and English very well. I requested RX color contacts (for a costume) and she not only showed me the Freshlooks but also circle lenses! I was able to test them out and oddly, I found the circle lenses to be easier on the eyes. They last a month (vs 2 weeks), come in the same quantity as Freshlooks and cost only $4 more. I also inquired about having my frames brought in to place RX lenses installed and they are literally the cheapest I have seen in OC. They start @ $36 for plastic lenses vs. $50-75 at other optometrists. The only negative things I can find is the location and her office. Parking can be very difficult in this plaza so I would consider setting an appointment at non-peak hours. Her office is sub-par compared to others. It's a bit drab but hopefully in the future, she will be able to get a make over. read more

Just had my second eye exam with Dr. Li this morning. My first visit was back in 2010, and I was charged $35 as a cash patient for an eye exam and prescription. This time I had insurance so I paid $0 - no charge for the eye exam and she waived the $25 material fee charge. Dr. Li is kind and professional. And, she gives accurate prescriptions!!! Super important because I wear glasses. I order frames and lenses from an online company, so I can not give feedback on pricing and services in this area. Yes, you will probably have to wait a while to see Dr. Li, but she is worth the wait. No high-pressure sales to purchases lenses/frames/contacts from Dr. Li. The ladies are very sweet here, including Dr. Loretta. I've been coming here for quite some time, and their rates for eye exams (both for glasses & contacts) are affordable to pay out of pocket, especially if you don't have great coverage through your insurance. Their selection in frames are a bit limited, but I've always brought in my own frames, so it's not really a problem. The wait time can be a little long, especially on the weekends .. so keep that in mind. I called in prior on a weekday to make an appointment for an upcoming Saturday, and they were booked. However, one of the office assistants let me know, if anyone canceled she would call me back. She got back to me & managed to squeezed me in for that Saturday. read more

I've been going to Dr. Li's office for about 8 years. She used to have a couple different doctors rotate in and out of her office, but now it's just her and it's great! She's very thorough and never makes you feel rushed. She always takes her time and really listens to make sure she's giving you the best care. Her office isn't the most trendy or state-of-the-art place to be, but it's clean, the people who work there are great, they have a good selection of glasses, and their prices are unbeatable for those like me who don't have eye insurance. So i've been going to a variety of eye doctors over my lifetime and have yet to find a doctor that i like.. well now the search has ended and through the referral from family members, i'm glad i actually listened to them. Dr. Li is a great optometrist. She knows exactly what you should be wearing, and she can determine your eye strength depending on your eye health. she can figure out if it's necessary for you to go with something stronger or lighter, based on your needs. she finds out what your occupation is, or how much computer exposure you have, etc etc. the office is trilingual (chinese, english and vietnamese) and they have a wide variety of frames, from cheap to baller. They also have an onsite lab & repair so if you just need to repair your frames or lenses or whatever, come by, even if you're not a customer/patient of this optometrist! Appointments are absolutely necessary, but if you're adventurous, put down your name & number for a walk in chance and hope that someone cancels and opens up the spot for you (which is what happened to me)! They accept all kinds of insurance, and are super affordable, even if you don't have insurance (again, like me). read more

Terrible optometrist. Put the RX off the autorefractor into the phoropter and just asked me "can you read this?" And when I said yes she wrote it down and said that was my final prescription. I had some health concerns about my eyelid and when I brought them up, she dismissed me without checking. The entire exam took about 7 minutes. When I returned to pick up my glasses, they fit crookedly on me. I asked for an adjustment and the doctor said she didn't know how and to come back when the optician is in. What a great doctor huh? Ridiculous. Waste of time. And my glasses have no cyl in them even though I've consistently had astigmatism of around -0.75D since I was 14. Useless and a waste of my time and money. People only go here because she is fluent in Chinese and Vietnamese. read more

Loretta Li is the best! She genuinely is concerned about your eyes and does not treat you like you are just another patient in her examination chair. She's very warm, friendly, and most importantly she takes her time to make sure her examination results are correct. You don't feel like you are being shuffled in/out of her office. She even found out why my right eye has been acting up lately and her explanation was compelling. Location: There are a TON of eye doctors in the area, but this one resides in the SE corner plaza on Bolsa and Magnolia, in the same plaza as a Bank of the West. Frames: They carry a lot of Dolce and Gabbana frames and a lot of other current styles. They don't have a whole lot of inventory but that's because of the limited space. As long as I have known her, she's been very tentative and caring when she examined my eyes. 17 years is a long time for me, but I wouldn't have it any other way. Got 4 prescription lens here... all done the same time for different people in my family... quality and craftsmanship is horrible... they say it's scratch resistant but all 4 lens were scratch within a week... the glasses were also not fitted well onto the frame, resulting in really bad smudges where the rim of the glasses hit the lens... these smudges were not able to be clean off... although they were a lot cheaper in price, the quality was trash... read more

I've been going to Dr. Li since I was about 8 or 9, so about 22 years now! Seriously, I've never left the county and if I did, I'd come back to Dr. Li. Dr. Li has a solid staff that's willing to work with you price wise, whether or not you have insurance. The selection on glasses is OK, but I've always been happy with my specs. Honestly, you could buy your frames elsewhere, but I recommend getting your lenses there at least. Contacts too--very reasonable! I feel their prices are better than what you can find online (I compared prices earlier this month). Dr. Li is also sweet and soft spoken. The exams are painless, including the dreaded glaucoma test (air in my eye!), and very quick. I hardly ever have any questions since my prescription never really changes, but if you do have any concerns Dr. Li will listen to what you have to say and explain it to you like you're 5 without being condescending. I don't think she's even capable of being condescending to be honest. Professional and friendly service. Parking sucks, but if you've ever been to any area of Little Saigon, that's already a given. The city's a freaking parking lot. Oh, and don't let the Asian clientele intimidate you--the staff and Dr. Li all speak English! read more

Dr. Li and her staffs are very honest and helpful. They're very busy so you'd have to wait a little bit even you've made an appointment. But once Dr. Li sees you, she gives you all the attention and actually shows that she would listen to your concerns/conditions before jumping into any conclusion. They are VERY cost friendly, compared to all the other places I've been going for years. My kids have Ortho-K and the second one would get discount. I don't want to mention their pricing here since I believe that depends on the condition of each patient. But for our case, it was almost 50% less than another places I've checked. What I also LOVE about them is that they gave me info on rebates while other places would keep that to themselves even after already charging me way too much. Honest, Caring, Pleasant, Professional, Cost effective, can't ask for more. They came highly recommended by family members, and now I've referred them to many of my friends.
