We have bought two cars here. Those experiences were fine. However, the service department is a different story. At best they are inept, but that feels too kind. It really seems that they are dishonest and corrupt. Every time we have brought our car there, within a week we need to return for a new problem that didn't exist previously. This last time, they replaced some tires. The next day within 1 hour the brakes seized. Either your inspection was inadequate and you put us back on the road in an unsafe car, or you broke something during the repair. They charged us a diagnostic inspection fee ($90), even though they had the car less than 24 hrs earlier. They then wanted $3000 for new brakes. Huh? You didn't see that when the wheels were off, and you want to charge us for a diagnostic inspection. No thanks. I will never use this unscrupulous business again for service. We are going to be replacing this car soon with another Honda soon, but they have lost our business. It's a shame because I would like to keep business local and tax dollars local, but I cannot support them any more. Too bad. read more

Please make sure to google the issue you have with your vehicle before visiting this location. They do anything in their power to rip you off and waste as much time of you as possible. I visited this location for two very usual and easy to fix service requests. 1) I needed TPMS sensors replaced. They told me they need to do a $159 diagnostic before they know if the sensors must be replaced. After two days they reached out saying the sensors indeed need to be replaced for $558.08 and then if the dash light for TPMS does not go off, they should proceed with replacing the central computer that reads the sensors for an additional $1600. I noticed they don't have any tools to train pinpointing the exact problem. Later that week, I had all TPMS sensors replaced at Costco for $240 in less than an hour. 2) I needed the roof molding on the driver's side to be removed to find a source of a water leak. They asked for an additional $159 diagnostic and finally told me the cost of replacing the roof molding is $295 but they also need to take the interior down which costs about $2000 to $3000. That is all just to find the leak, and the technician's opinion was they didn't have the proper tools to do this, and he recommended a body shop. Again, later that weekend, I ended up replacing the roof molding ($54 for part) and sealing the crack with 3M sealant ($20 from Amazon). My overall experience was negative at this place, and I felt I should never trust them with my vehicle for these reasons: 1) They have no specific tools or training to fix Honda specific issues. They rely on trial and error, and in the process they do more damage or unnecessary fixes even if you go there for a simple issue. 2) Once they realize you don't accept their ineffective and irrelevant service plan, they ignore you. When I left my vehicle at the dealership, I got a flowery message that thanked me for choosing Lia Honda and they constantly updated me as they were waiting for a technician report. Once, I pointed out their service plan is nonsense and questioned it, I had to call 4 times to speak with them and every time would be told they call me back in 10 minutes which they wouldn't. 3) My experience with other out-of-state Honda dealerships is diagnostics on their own to tell you what problems you need to fix with your vehicle. However, at this location I would ask them to fix a problem, they then ask for $159 diagnostic fee per issue, they then would tell me what I already told them at an astronomical price tag. I wish they were more honest and trustworthy as people see Honda logo on their building not knowing this place has no technical knowledge of Honda related issues. Husband's issue was the need for new tires 1.5 years into our lease. When he asked about the rating of a) the original tires and b) the exorbitantly priced new set, the manager could not/would not answer. We did replace the tires at a fraction of Lia's cost. We test drove a couple of cars then through our conversation matched me up with a Honda Passport. I fell in love with it immediately. When we talked price he was very open to me about the negotiations and I settled on a very fair price. If I could give negative stars, I would. I took my HRV to Lia Honda Northampton for routine maintenance (including an oil change), which resulted in total engine damage and required an engine replacement. Lia Honda did not take responsibility for their actions (not replacing my oil plug after the oil change) and I was forced to pay for a new engine for my vehicle, even after the service manager admitted that the issue was likely due to negligence from the last oil change. Long story short, after having my oil changed at Lia Honda, my car engine suddenly shut down one day when I was driving home from work. The mechanic found, much to my surprise, that the drain plug was missing. After much back and forth with the service manager at Lia Honda, the only explanation he could offer was that whoever did the last oil change did not properly install the drain plug. The service manager even explained it this way: he said that the chances were about 99.9999% due to negligence, and the chances of someone crawling under my car with a wrench to unscrew my drain plug were about 0.00000001%. When I asked if the engine failure was my fault they said no. When I asked what I could have done to prevent this from happening, they said there was nothing I could have done to prevent this. However, they refused to explain to me how it happened. Lia Honda Northampton provided the most abysmal service I have ever experienced in my entire life. They effectively ruined my car with their negligent service work. I even asked several times (once in person!) for a loaner car to help cover the costs that I was paying out of pocket so that I could get to work, but they denied this until I agreed to pay for the engine repair. Once I agreed to pay for the service, Lia Honda had a vehicle ready for me to use. This whole process took 2.5 months. This was the most predatory experience of my life. If you want to keep your car, do NOT bring it here for service. read more

We bought a used car from Lia in September. It literally fell apart last week while my husband was driving our daughter home from school. The ball bearing broke and the entire control arm and wheel came off...while he was driving...with my 13 year old and our puppy in the car...down a city street. We recently purchased a hybrid CRV at Lia Honda in Northampton. The individual salesperson did as best as he could on our behalf, but beyond that, the service and treatment of a customer who was spending +$40,000 on a car was beyond terrible. They wouldn't provide timely information, withheld important information until after the papers were signed, rushed us through the transaction, and then didn't even put an inspection sticker on it. We had to go out and get it inspected ourselves and then drive back to the dealership w the receipt to be reimbursed. If you're shopping for a Honda, I'd go anywhere but here. read more

I bought a 2015 honda and have been coming here ever since to do my oil changes, tire rotation and etc. Initially I paid a pretty pricey amount for the services like oil, tire rotation, and air filters. Roughly around $250-$300. But recently I noticed that my services were costing a lot less. Around $150-$200. I asked the cashier in services and she had no idea why it cost less now. Also, the last oil change the tech over spilled oil all over my engine bay. My car started to smoke as I drove away, and I had to come back and have them clean the oil and engine bay. And today I went in for an oil change and got the great news from one service rep that I could drive my car but would need to change the breaks soon. And then a completely different story from another service rep that told me that I could not drive my car without changing the breaks and rotors now. I was told that I damaged my rear rotors so bad that it would need to be done today. So I was backed into a corner of paying $498-$500 now if I wanted my car back. Thankfully the other service rep came back and cleared things up. But with that said, I hope this gives anyone reading this the mind set if they chose to come here. read more

Really unhappy about my experience here. I was looking to buy a used Honda civic and test drove a nice car...normal. Then it got weird. The saleman began a stupid game of insulting and teasing my partner because he was asking real questions about the car and financing. It was REALLY weird. I put down a deposit anyway because I really liked the car and came back the next day to do the financing. I came back by myself and got RUSHED through financing. My interest rate was all of a sudden hiked by 2.9% AT LEAST, a $1600 warranty was added and I was told I couldn't remove it because it lowered my payment? Are you kidding me? I pulled the plug on the deal and was harassed by the first saleman and the finance person who "needed to know why" as they delayed my refund of the deposit. I finally lied and said I had another car in mind so they'd leave me alone. Then he thanked me for "finally telling the truth". Seriously, don't bother with these people. I've been going here for years with fairly good to neutral results, but at some point in around 2014 it went down hill fast and hard. One of the last times I went there, I tried to walk in for an Oil change (making sure I stressed "could you squeeze me in at some point today?") the service center rep scoffed / laughed at me and offered an appointment weeks later. Not professional. I also recently called the parts department for a price on parts and to order a part that I needed no question 100% and to schedule an appointment to swap them out and do the front breaks while that was disassembled (a few weeks in advance.) The rep was clearly not listening and after repeating myself multiple times - both the part and my desire to leave the car overnight, etc. I realized that I might as well have been talking to a brick wall. I was told that a service center tech would call me for a consultation since we were not making any progress. I received no call (was not expecting to) and I had to go in personally and speak to them face to face to get it done. Not all reps there are trash, but over all it's not a great customer experience nor is it the most cost effective option obviously. I'll go there again but only as a last resort. I Need to find a better local mechanic clearly. I've also repeatedly contacted them to remove me from the mailing list, but alas... I still get their junk. read more

We have used Lia Honda's service for years to check on our Fit and do some work on it when needed. No complain. Based on that good experience we went to them first when looking for a new car. MISTAKE! Whatever good deal you see on their horizon make sure you do not end up dealing with some of their inexperienced, sexist? homophobic? "what is his problem"- sales person. the guy did NOT want us to get that HRV! he kept making offers that he would retract as soon as we'd say we're interested, pretending to talk to his ghost manager every 10 minutes and blaming every deceiving moments on him,... we ended up talking with his (real) manager who immediately offered us the deal this guy just retracted. Still, until the last minute he made it difficult for us: refused my green card as an ID, told us it would take time to find a bank that would accept it as valid, basically refused to have my name on the title next to my spouse, even though i am paying the 18000! He then pretended he could not let the car go without the original title of our old car (that they requested on line the next day), refused to fix the cup holders (!) that he offered to fix during the driving test! last but not least, the day we went to pick the car which he said would be ready at 12, he called at 12.15 to tell us to wait for 4 more hours: the roaders had to be changed, and they "could not let us drive it this week then fix it the next... because our safety depended on it" and liability issues etc. What? We did drive that car for a test the week before, he was here when we heard that weird noise and he is the one who told us "it's corrosion, an easy fix". Did we risk our lives back then? Question: what does "dealer certified" mean, if the guy who takes you for a test drive has no idea what is wrong with the car? and if no one in the service department has ever checked it before putting it on the market? read more

I took a look at the paperwork, and every single possible sleezy salesman add-on was thrown in. $900 ripoff wax. A huge chunk added to the monthly payment for a warranty. Oh yeah, and not the actually useful Honda warranty. A 3rd party warranty with a company that scores an F at the Better Business Bureau. Really Lia? That's what you push on your customers? Despite sending in the paperwork to cancel all of the crap that could be canceled, the monthly payment hasn't changed. They threw a bunch of cancellation charges into the mix to make it even out. Great job Lia! You screwed over an extremely friendly customer once again. read more

This place really is awful. The only time anyone pretends to be nice--and it's obvious they are pretending and with great strain--is when they are trying to sell you a car. Once you've signed the papers, forget it. The service workers are also curt, unsmiling, and seem to enjoy ignoring people who are waiting in lines. I don't understand the culture here, but it is consistent. I bought a Honda here in 2013 and remember both being treated condescendingly by the salesperson and being made to feel like an overall inconvenience. And, once I technically bought the car, calling to ask questions was like calling to ask someone to sacrifice their children--even when the answers to these questions should have been provided already. Not all of us deal with buying cars everyday and know all the answers; not everyone is trapped in your miserable workplace with your miserable coworkers; there is actually an outside world. Maybe quit and join us? I then made the mistake of taking my Honda here to be serviced--until I had enough of feeling like an unvalued nuisance ...along with continually being pushed to make repairs that weren't necessary. I like Honda, just not this place. But I thought I could get a deal by trading in my Honda now in 2019. I can't complain much about the product I got back--it's just the people are so awful. All the experiences I remember from 2013 came into being once more and worse, including being rushed through the entire buying process. In terms of being rushed through the process, there was a palpable sense of impatience on the part of the sales agent both when I wanted to look at different parts of my prospective vehicle and when I asked questions about it (no information was offered to begin with at all). Impatience was also palpable when I wanted to take a moment of thought before signing a few documents (which you'd think would be understandable given the obvious importance of decisions involving large amounts of money). A new experience this time around, though, involved being routinely ignored when I would send emails. Emails were indicated as the preferable means of communication with my sales agent, and yet the agent would not respond promptly or at all to important questions--such as when to pick up my new registration after waiting days to hear. I had to follow up after sending a first email. The reply I finally got, regarding my registration, was "its all set". (Not to be snobby, but this was sent in lower caps and without an apostrophe, kind of embarrassingly unprofessional?). One other particular situation of many that brought back memories of 2013 took place when I went to pick up my new car. I was asked to pull up next to the new car to make transferring my belongings easier. However, the spot I was asked to pull up to was covered in snow that was not shoveled. As I was transferring belongings, I realized my shoes and socks were becoming soaked. So, I took a shovel that I had in my car and began shoveling the snow that Lia should have already cleared. A salesperson was transferring my plates while I was shoveling, and I was surprised that they didn't seem to care and at least offer an apology that the snow was not cleared and that my feet were becoming soaked. Better yet, they could have offered to move the new car to a dry place where I could transfer belongings. Trying to bring attention to the situation, I commented that "I guess I should have brought boots". The salesperson walked toward me and began speaking, which gave me an instant of hope. However, they were just coming to ask me to move out of their way so that they could continue transferring the plates. They soon left me to continue soaking and freezing my feet over the good amount of time that it took me to transfer all of my belongings. The fact that I was expected to transfer my belongings while trudging through the snow, along with how I had already been treated throughout the sales process, told me that asking outright for them to move the new car would have only been met with being made to feel even more like a nuisance. I wanted to avoid that feeling and instead only make a hint. However, sadly unsurprisingly, Lia proved yet again to be consistent to a "T" in making customers feel like annoying flies. Looking back, I realized that cars I bought before coming to Lia in 2013 made the buying process smooth and relatively painless. Those cars came with full tanks of gas already--not near empty like with Lia. The cars' basic functions were reviewed--unlike with Lia. The cars came with a manual and were spotless--unlike with Lia. And I was offered a test drive--unlike with Lia. That's how it should be. I will not make the mistake of giving business to this place ever again. And, I encourage as many others as possible to not only also avoid this mistake, but to pass the message on and help save others from the travesty that is Lia of Northampton. 0.1 Stars. read more

After months of working with this branch to purchase a vehicle, I was sold two cars, both had mouse nests in them. The first one, the one I wanted, they said was not safe to drive anymore so they sent it to auction. I ended up in a 2022, paying 11,000 more than I wanted to spend in the first place. It had a mouse nest too. Now they want me take this mouse damaged car out on the road because somehow it's safer than the other one. I saw the damage, I'm an engineer, I know better than to take that car on the road. The sales team doesn't care. They want to charge me another 6000 to replace the trash they sold me. I work in the hospitality field so I KNOW what true hospitality is all about...the people at Lia of Northampton KNOW how to make you feel great about your car buying experience. I started my experience with Reggie from internet sales. He was amazing from the very start and made me feel like he truly cared. He contacted me via email, phone, and even text due to my busy schedule as a front desk manager at a busy hotel. Reggie MADE me want to come into Lia of Northampton to begin with. I was a little nervous once Reggie informed me that he would be passing the torch to another salesmen since I had felt that he had done such a good job.... until I was introduced to Joel. Joel wasted no time introducing himself to myself and my family and finding out everything that I wanted. He listened to ALL of my wants and needs just like Reggie did and worked with his team until the very end to get the PERFECT monthly payment for me. He was patient, kind, understanding, and NEVER felt like an actual salesman (if that makes any sense). He made me feel completely comfortable. He made me WANT to buy at Lia. ( We had previously gone to Baslise honda in west Springfield and Reggie and Joel were just making them look insane to be honest. ) He did everything he could to make me happy, and HAPPY IS WHAT I AM! I ended my car buying experience with the hardest part! The part when you meet with the finace manager and sign all of the papers and add more stuff which usually makes you feel like crying lol.... Evan made this process the best it could possibly be! He was funny and charismatic. He taught us about our options, and made everything superclear and easy to understand. He gave us time to think options over and totally understood that making these decisions were tough and took time. All of this whole making us laugh! After read other yelper's review on Lia Honda, I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who never want to deal with them again. One of their sales offered me a deal of 2015 accord but quoting the truecar.com price of 2016 accord. And he claimed there was no difference in price between 2015 and 2016 accord. What a liar. And a stupid one. Also, don't put any deposit there. They claimed they will refund you unconditionally if you would not proceed further. Sadly, they will never refund you unless 1) you come to this dealership again and spend hours 2) call your credit card company to dispute. Sincerely, what kinda nonsense is this? Any credit car company will refund the customer in this scenario. What kinda benefit does Lia Honda gain by keeping this deposit? A temporary better number in their balance sheet? The car dealer is not necessary to be the best person. But car dealer needs to maintain a reputation. Bully your potential customer is not a smart move. read more

This review is regarding the service department. I have never taken my car to a dealership before because of a fear of price gouging but being new to the area didn't know a local mechanic I could trust and needed a recall handled and regular 105K mile service as well as brakes checked out. I was generally happy with the experience; Jim who I dealt with was a nice guy who quoted me a fair price and the rear brakes stopped acting up. BUT: A little over a month later my front brakes start making the same sound and have the same issues. I was a little annoyed that I had just spent a real pretty penny on having my car serviced, and specifically asked that my brakes be inspected, only to find out that they never checked the front brakes and now because my front pads weren't changed I will likely need new front rotors too. This isn't what really pissed me off though, what pissed me off was the fact that I have not been able to get anyone from the service department on the phone about this issue, AT ALL, and since I am moving soon and need my truck I had to shell out another $400 for new brakes and rotors. read more

I went to get some routine stuff done the other day and before I was even on the highway I got a phone call from a rep looking to follow up. I've since received multiple emails from multiple sources demanding feedback on my "experience." Maybe this is just a Honda thing - though I don't remember Balise in West Springfield being like this - but it's more than a little unnerving and I don't think I'll be returning to Lia for service anytime soon. read more

Do not trust these guys. You would think being an "official dealership" that you could expect honest, good quality work from lia honda in Northampton but this turned out to be the worst place and worst quality business I have ever seen. I left one star because it was the minimum I could leave or else I would have left 0. I had my break lines replaced a few months prior from another shop and then got a coupon from lia honda for a cheap oil change so decided to take my car in. When picking it up they said I needed to have my break fluid replaced because the fluid was black. This didn't make much sense to me after just having the lines completely replaced. I immediately brought my car back to the shop that changed my break lines and they brought me into the garage and showed me that my break fluid was completely clear. Lia honda straight up lied to get more business. A second time I had my catalytic converter replaced with Lia honda. About a year and a half later my check engine light came on and sure enough it was the catalytic converter. I had another garage look at it and they told me that it looked like the original part was never changed. Regardless of whether this is true I would expect a catalytic converter would last more then a year and a half. When I brought this up with Lia Honda they told me that the 12 month warranty was up so it was not their problem anymore. in my situations this place does horrible quality work and will tell you lies to get business. I test drove a couple different models of the new Accord and ended up making the decision after feeling the difference between the 1.5 and 2.0. Cam was awesome and knew his stuff (you were right about the color). He was also very transparent in the buying process which was a huge plus when going though negotiations. Do not do business here! This past week I purchased a used vehicle from them. The salesman told me the oil change was just done and the maintenance minder was reset to 100%. Also that the vehicle gets a full detail once they receive the vehicle and before the new owners take ownership. The vehicle was dirty and not detailed when test driving or after purchasing. After purchasing the vehicle I open the hood to find the dipstick not fully seated inside of the dipstick tube, and that the oil was never changed the maintenance minder was just reset. After taking the vehicle home I then did my own oil change to find the oil was black that came out of the motor. We then had the same honda dealer do the routine 105k timing belt water pump job on the vehicle 3 days after purchasing. The salesman notified us that when we bring in our vehicle for service we will have a HRV as a loaner till the work is done. So we brought it in and found out our loaner was given to another customer so the salesman drove us in our vehicle to rent a car and we had to pay $50 upfront to rent a vehicle. Once receiving the vehicle back I noticed that my vehicle was covered in salt and road debris after i got a car wash a day prior to service. After entering my vehicle I also noticed my vehicle was driven appx 75-100 miles and all of these items i was never notified about and no one took care of any of these issues after calling the service manager many times with no response. I have previously did business with lia honda of Enfield 2 times and never had an issue then came here with nothing but issues. Definitely will never come back! read more

Update: Let me start of by saying there are a couple of awesome people who work in service that I've had the pleasure of interacting with for years. And in general, if you're coming to Lia Honda for just standard service on your vehicle (ie - oil change, tire rotation etc), you'll probably be fine. That being said, I recently came here to replace the side view mirror of my CRV. Pretty simple task and I although I knew I could've taken it to a mom-and-pop repair shop for much cheaper, I decided to go to Lia since I've been coming here every few months for years. Lia Honda ended up making this much more complicated for me than it needed to be largely because of the lack of coordination and communication within the business. I walked into service and asked if they could replace my mirror the following Saturday. They said "No problem. It shouldn't take more than hour." However, a week later when I came in for the repair, they asked where the mirror was. I said, "Didn't you guys order it?" Nope. Apparently, the customer is supposed to order and pay for the part themselves before service touches the vehicle. This was something that wasn't communicated to me at all and although Lia knew I was scheduled to have mirror replacement, no one there bothered to make sure the part was in so they could do their job. There was a lot of deflection of blame on others which frankly made the entire business look terrible. My husband, who worked years as a general manager in a Boston Honda dealership, said he's never heard of a dealership making the customer first pay for the part before the service is performed, especially if the part is being bought directly from Honda and the service is being done by Honda. It did sound pretty ridiculous, but anyway, I paid several hundred dollars for the part and had to re-schedule the repair for the following weekend. I came in this morning to finally have the mirror replaced. It took a little over an hour and as I was driving it around afterwards, I noticed that the camera for the side view mirror wasn't working. I drove back to Lia Honda for a THIRD time. The guy who handled my service just a few hours before looked like he had no clue who I was. I asked why the team didn't bother checking to make sure everything with the mirror was working before calling the job done. Once again, blame was deflected on someone else and once again, there was no accountability. I just don't think the words "team" and "accountability" are part of the lingo at Lia Honda. Since I had already paid for full labor, not partial labor, I said I would wait (with my 4-year old) until the job was actually complete. When I asked how long it would take, he said, "It could be up to an hour." So I ended up waiting to hear how long I would have to wait. Of all the hundreds of places I've done business with in my life, Lia Honda Northampton now classifies as one of the absolute worst. They have no accountability, are very disorganized, could care less about the quality of their work and their customers, and to top it off - they won't apologize for it. It's shame they've just lost a loyal customer. But frankly, they probably don't care. read more

I had a 3.5 hour trip to this dealership to go see a used vehicle from Staten Island and 2.5 hrs into my trip jason the salesman decided to call me and tell me the car is "sold"and he promised to hold the car for me and entered in his computer to hold the car for a customer and I expressed to him that I was leaving work early and I have 3.5 hours to drive and he told me don't worry then the used car manager tells me it's first come first serve which I wasn't told and if I was I wouldn't of went and wasted my time and to leave work with no pay. I wouldn't even rate them a 1 star there a dishonest dealership and should tell the customer the correct information how there policy works not just bulls**t me to make the sale. read more

I just bought a new Ridgeline 2020 RTL E and is making a funny noise in the front right side of the tire. They told me to bring it to check, and after 3 hours of waiting time. They just told me that I have to bring it next tuesday at 9:0 am. They are making me waste my time, my job hours, gas, and miles, driving over there. I am very upset with this.
