I had a work conference in Cincinnati and was in Kentucky since it was right over the Bridge running errands when I yelped comfort places for lunch. Of course being in Kentucky I had to try their famous fried chicken or a place that had it. The service was the only thing lacking the young man that took my order and brought it out to-go wasn't the warmest unless he was just having a bad day. Ambiance was nice. Libby's Southern Comfort is such a great addition to Covington! I have now visited twice, and have been very pleased with the overall experience on each visit. The first time I visited I tried the fried chicken biscuit sliders. The combination of flavors was phenomenal. I also tried the "Michelle My Belle" salad. I was drawn to it because that's my name, but I will definitely be ordering it again for how delicious it is. This past weekend, I tried the pork belly BLT paired with the gouda mac and cheese. This was a delicious combination that I was very satisfied with! To drink I had a "frose" with a prosecco floater added. The slushy was a good consistency and had a delectable flavor. Everyone that we have come in contact with has always been very friendly and helpful. If you're looking for some delicious Southern food then definitely check out Libby's! Libby's is a very cute and trendy restaurant in Cincinnati specializing in southern comfort cuisine. I'll start with the positives: The decor inside and outside is really we done and definitely invokes a rustic-cozy feel. There is a bar seating as well. Our server (Justin) was very nice and was great at his job. The drink menu was inventive and our friends had the "cheerwine bourbon slush" which they reported to be really good! The menu at Libby's is pretty limited to begin with but If you don't eat meat or dairy your options here are very limited. I settled for ordering sides of black eyed pea salad and green beans (had to pick out bacon) I won't hold that against Libby's because that is my own choice- but it's just nice when there is at least one thing on the menu I would want to order. The portion sizes here are pretty small as well. My friend had the chicken and biscuits, and they were the size of two of the minis you'd get at chik-fil-a. My sister had the wedge salad which looked like a good bet and she said the dressing was delicious. I'd definitely recommend looking at yelp pictures beforehand. read more

Really cool place in Cov! Medium sized restaurant with a parking lot nearby and more importantly - delicious southern food. We got different combos of 2-piece chicken and an order of chicken thighs over a hash and everyone enjoyed their meals. Well prepped, flavorful, and you definitely won't be leaving hungry. TLDR: Very crowded restaurant, not COVID-friendly. Busy service but not enough servers - we had to chase our server down. Server was not wearing his mask properly either. Drinks were not my cup of tea, food was mediocre. So wanted to love this place, but unfortunately, I would not come back. Have been wanting to checkout this place pre-COVID, then COVID hit, so I never got to check it out. Since cases are downward trending and my friend and I are both fully vaccinated, we have finally made the decision to come check it out. The restaurant was super crowded and the tables were not spaced that far apart. They have an "outdoor" seating area, but it's enclosed in plastic coverings - so like what's the point? Anyway, there were also a couple big parties and some guests were wandering around without masks on and there was no reinforcement because some of the servers (including ours) didn't even wear their masks appropriately. Atmosphere was hip and I liked the decor of the place; like I said, there were multiple large parties the night we dined here, so conversation was tough and we often found ourselves yelling at each other. Drink - I ordered the honey drink. It was VERY sweet - almost like drinking straight honey. I had one sip and just left it there. Food: Goetta hushpuppies - I liked it and ate 2. Prob the best thing I've had that night. Oysters - they were fresh and came in at $3 a piece. Nothing to write home about as the price was pretty standard. Fried chicken skin - what I was dying to try. Came here for the fried chicken skin! They were fried very crispy and smelled great. A bit over-fried in my opinion and lacked flavors. The hot honey saved it. But I would not get it again. Fried chicken (whole bird) - the chicken was SO bland. They were, again, a little bit over-fried. You know how when something is over-fried you feel like you just ate oil? It felt a little bit like that. The bird itself had no seasoning, it was BLAND. Most of the seasoning was on the breading but because it was over-fried, the taste of oil was so overpowering. The chicken was not thawed appropriately before cooking either, like I could taste the over-refrigerated taste in the chicken meat itself. I took the leftovers home, trying to salvage it, but sadly had to throw it away. I couldn't stomach it. Sides (green beans, Mac and cheese, fries, coleslaw): my favorite was the fries - they were the kind the fries that I like, like a seasoned curly potato wedge. The other sides were okay - nothing got me excited. (Not pictured) Shrimp roll - ordered this to-go for my partner; came with fries. I only tried a shrimp, had a bit of a curry flavor. The shrimps were big and plump, however, they were so salty! My partner couldn't finish it because of how salty the shrimp roll was. We ended up having to toss a lot of our food away, so it was a little bit disappointing. I really did try to enjoy my meal, but the food just did not meet my expectation. read more

The food here was pretty amazing! I had the chicken thighs which although a bit smaller than I thought they would be, they were so well cooked over the hash with the gravy. Excellent! A friend of mine had the brisket sandwich. It was so good! I wish I would have had his sandwich. It was spicy just like I like it. Overall wonderful! However they were rated down a star because they forgot my salad but then they brought me dessert to make up for it! So they're back up to five stars. Overall a great place. Finally got a chance to try Libby's out. We have been by a few times but way to busy for us most days. I had the country fried steak and I'm a big eater and couldn't finish it. It was so delicious, the steak was for sure the star as it had fresh made all over it. My wife had the chicken and biscuits she said it was so delicious. She normally doesn't like the skin but this time she didn't share with me. If I had one problem it was with our waitress, she kept getting to close to our food and drinks while she was either talking to us or asking us house our food. She did leave a few time leaving someone else to take care of us. All in all is was great experience for the food. read more

Stopped in for lunch while in town. Had the Oyster Po'Boy which was very good. The arugula and bread was fantastic. It really complimented the oysters. Looks like they had a huge selection of bourbons, but since I was working I couldn't partake. The only downside was the parking situation in the area. A three star review means that this place is still really good. We stopped by last minute for brunch on a Sunday morning at Libby's. There is not as much seating inside, but it was a beautiful day so we sat outside on their covered patio. It was a really lovey outdoor area. Very comfortable environment outside. I ordered the country fried steak biscuit. My favorite part was the sage gravy which I felt like they did not give enough for the size of the sandwich. My wife got a traditional egg breakfast with a biscuit. We were a little disappointed at the difference in biscuits between mine and hers (size mostly). Also if you ask for jam it is just a smuckers package. I expected a home made jam from a biscuity place like this. Libby's was a standard brunch. Libby's has a great oyster po'boy for under $15. I thought you should know! Since I should probably add more, I'll add - their half of a fried chicken is enough for two people since it comes with two sides and a biscuit and they have an out of sight list of whiskey to try. I came for brunch but it ended up being lunch since it was a week day. No worries there, they still gave me coffee. I hope to return for the brunch. Man, but one thing I'm remembering is the green beans which were bacon-fied and slow-cooked and dream-alicious. The mashed potatoes were 40% garlic, so do with that information what you will. The staff was really friendly and everyone was masked up the whole time we were there (as opposed to grabbing their mask from their chin whenever they approached the table or a customer). Alright folks- longtime Yelp lurker and reference queen. I don't often write reviews, but I'm doing this as a love letter in hopes that this will make the menu. Cincy Burger Week recently happened and as a burger lover and having sampled 16 craft and classic burgers during that week, THIS was my favorite: the Air Force Juan. The chorizo, chipotle sauce and slaw were the perfect contrast of heat, robust flavor, crunchy and cool. The white cheddar and toasted bun were compatible as well. My only regret is that due to my burger week burger-ganza I didn't order more items on the menu. Can't wait to go back and test out some other creations! I was a little disappointed after reading other people's rave reviews and highly recommending Libby's to my friends. I was so excited for the brunch menu, to learn they don't do brunch on Saturdays, only Sunday (we were still able to order a mimosa pitcher though). I was excited for the bourbon slushie's, but there's a Cheerwine option and the rotating house option, unfortunately I was not interested in trying either. Our food was good, the mac and cheese side seemed like it sat out for a while although the bread crumbs were good. I also read rave reviews about the Bloody Mary's, so I decided to make Libby's my first Bloody Mary experience. This will also probably be my last, it was very peppery and the garnishes could be enhanced. The green beans side was great! That's what I will remember from this experience. The service was good as well, but otherwise, I'll make a point to come on Sunday to try the brunch menu. Will write a follow up review then. read more

Stopped in Libby's around 4:30 on Saturday with a party of 6. We did not have a reservation, but fortunately, we were ushered directly to an indoor table. We had a group that consisted of foodies, kids, and less adventurous eaters. Our server (I believe her name was Maura) was amazing and efficient and answered all of our questions. The Lemon Basil Spritzer was recommended by our server, and it was delicious! We also had goetta hush puppies that were devoured by the table in a second. Our entrees included Hot Honey Chicken sandwiches (x3), Shrimp and Grits, BLT, and a Shrimp Po Boy. Everything, including sides, was absolutely delicious! We left stuffed and with leftovers (the sandwich portions are enormous). We will definitely be back soon! read more

You have to try their cheerwine slushy...number one favorite on our cocktail favorites around town! The service is always great and everyone is friendly. The only thing I can say after eating at Libby's is WHAT TOOK ME SO LONG?!? I've been hearing people talk about Libby's for a long while, and it's sat on my "try it!" List for ages. Well I finally stopped in this weekend and oh my god is it mind glowingly good. Fried chicken is hard to get perfect, and Libby's is the best I've had in the area hands down. I'm also a total sucker for deviled eggs, so I was thrilled to see them on the menu and they did not disappoint. My fiancée wanted a salad and went with the wedge- it was MASSIVE. They do not skimp on serving size here at all Our server was fun and attentive, we sat in the outside area which was lovely and very covid conscious. This place is amazing! One of my favorite new places in Northern Kentucky. They have a really cool building that has plenty of parking on the side. During the week it is reserved for another business but on weekends it is dedicated to the restaurant. i have never had any trouble parking. You walk in to see a wall of bourbon behind the bar. They have a decent sized bar, nice seating options in the dining room, and an awesome patio on the side. Most of the patio is covered so even in bad weather I would imagine it would be a great option. I am amazed every time I browse the menu. So many really tasty options. Everything I have had has been extremely good. My favorite is the Kentucky Breakfast Brown. Their version of the Hot Brown but with breakfast items. It's amazing. Their fried potatoes haunt me until the next time I can have them. I brag this place up to everyone who will listen and i have not had one friend or family member not like their experience. I sent my daughter and her friends and they were huge fans of the bottomless mimosas for $20 and they really enjoyed the food. This has quickly become a place that is always on my top pick whenever I am in the area. We love it! read more

I finally made it to Libby's for dinner and I'm sure glad I did! The staff was very nice, our waiter was attentive even with the busy time. There was live music going on on the outside patio and the place was pretty busy. The spec itself has a nice, modern country vibe. I got the fried green tomatoes to share with the group, they were good, lightly breaded with a pimento cheese topping. Didn't blow my mind but was a nice app the share. My sandwich, however, did kinda blow my mind. Fried chicken BLT on the biggest biscuit I've seen in my life! Delicious and huge. I could only eat half. Our neighbors rave about Libby's so we had to stop in and get the pandemic family meal. $25 for 8 pieces of chicken and 6 sides. The goetta hush puppies were a solid 8 out of 10. my friends got their chicken and biscuit and that was delicious, filling, and came with a side making it the best menu item in value and taste. The fried green tomato BLT is no longer on the menu, in it's place is a tomato sandwich which also sounded delicious, but it was $15...for a tomato sandwich... no bacon included. and no... the chef will not recreate it (we asked).
