Stay Far Away From Liberty Dental The crown they made for me almost exactly two years ago just broke! It lasted 2 years and 1 week. One quarter fell away, exposing the metal below... They said it was supposed to last 7-10 years, and possibly up to 20 years! I am a physician with 40 years practice experience, and I have to say this dental group is one of the most incompetent and unethical I've ever experienced... Stick with US quality and care. Two years ago, I traveled to Tijuana to Liberty Dental. They charged me $275 for a PFM (porcelain fused to metal) crown, which required making two trips across the border. Upon my return trip for the fitting, the crown they first made was not even close to the color of the rest of my teeth! They appeared to not know have a clue what they were doing. So they had me leave, to try to re-color the crown, which required spending most of the day in Mexico. But after coming back at the end of the day, it was still not a color match! I didn't want to return again to Mexico, so I just accepted it as-is. After paying $70 for a week's Mexican auto insurance, and $15 for two "discounted" medical passes back across the border (which still required about an hour wait), the total fee was $375 for this extremely poor job. So after I contacted Liberty Dental one week ago, and told them that my crown broke after two years, I asked them if I could somehow get discount on a superior quality crown. I didn't trust getting a replacement PFM crown again -- which required two more trips to Mexico, and another $70 for a week's auto insurance, more time off work, and a tremendous hassel. Their usual charge for a zircon crown - which can be made same day - is $450 to $550 per their website. They said the best deal they could give me, however, was $400. I was dumfounded! I told them, I've already spent $375 two years ago for a crown that broke - and it was covered under a 2 year warranty. But now they wanted to ask for $400 more from me? This would bring my total cost to $375 + $400 + $50 for a day's Mexican auto insurance. I said is it fair that I would have to spend $825 total to receive a quality crown from them? I said no thanks, I'll accept the $375 loss! Just for comparison, I found a good dentist who will make a zircon crown for $800 in San Diego. So I suggest stay far away from this inept "dental" group. Their incompetence is even made worse by their lack of any ethical and caring business practices! read more

I've been going to Liberty Dental for about three years now after having bad experiences with the local dentists where I live in Northern California. I have had Liberty Dental address extensive dental issues and have been very pleased with their professionalism and over all quality of their work. I found it worth flying down here to have work done vs paying dental insurance and getting huge bills every time in the USA. Dr. Martinez is a fantastic dentist and his assistant/hygienist Leslie is excellent as well. The office manager is amazing at translating everything for me because I speak very minimal Spanish. Overall this place is great and has saved me a lot of money on the dental work they performed for me vs. having it done back home. Thanks Liberty Dental. You guys rock!! read more

Avoid this office at all costs! After spending over $3,000 on dental work here, my implant became infected, and the neighboring crowns they worked on now need to be replaced--costing me an additional $5,000 in repairs. They also claim to cover your taxi expenses, but unless you constantly remind them, they'll conveniently "forget" and refuse to reimburse you. Terrible service and even worse accountability. Do not go here! In addition, TJ is not a safe place. I always felt uncomfortable going to TJ and then waiting in the long line just to return back to the US. Huge shoutout to Dr Omar Guevara and all the staff at Liberty dental in TJ Courteous and excellent dental work! I will be back for all my dental needs. Ended up costing me less than half of what it would have cost here in the US, and that says a lot considering I even have dental insurance here in the US. They have fluent English speaking coordinators. 10/10 recommend! They even provide a free taxi to and from border if you don't want to drive. read more

Wow! What an amazing experience. Not exactly the emotion I usually feel about going to the dentist. I needed quite a bit of work done and I was quoted one of the lowest in Tijuana (skepticism was definitely another emotion I felt in regards to price) but let me assure you I did not compromise in quality of materials and Doctors. The Doctor was ABSOLUTELY amazing, here's why: 1. Extremely understanding 2. Non judgemental 3. Thorough in explanation 4. Gentle with injections ( these hurt regardless but when someone talks you through each one and provides predictability it decreases anxiety and helps prepare for moments of temporary pain) 5. Professional, professional in his mannerisms and process 6. Overall excellent cosmetic design The list goes on but they become more subjective to my experience. I was really self conscious about my smile to the point where I just tried to never smile...when I got my temporary's I just couldn't stop smiling even though my whole mouth was numb and probably looked weird lol.... I want to thank a few people in particular... 1. the front desk lady (I will update later with names 2. Hector (I believe but if I'm wrong I will edit) so so comforting and thorough in explanation process and answered all my questions 3. My dentist, very Kind and gentle and I could tell he was extremely smart and knew his craft 4. Abel, he talked me through the process before I got there (for almost a year or more of me going back and forth on if I wanted to or not) 5. Dental assistant who was in the room with us...she was sweet and kind I even had my taxi paid for, there and back to the border, very easy process and decreased the stress of the unknown. Don't be fooled by the lack of reviews, quite frankly I'm not sure why there aren't more. If your looking for a place for crowns and that much wanted "Hollywood smile" please consider this place. Only now, after two years of treatment at Liberty Dental Clinic, I'm allowing myself to write a review of my experience and thoughts about this clinic. The reason I waited two years is that they warranty their work for that period, so I wanted to make sure they would treat me well if any problems occurred.after they will read my review. Unfortunately, I had multiple issues with the work they did. In the first three to six months, or even less, I had crowns that broke and cracked. This meant they had to numb the area, remove the bad crown, (sometimes two crowns), give me a temporary, and have me come back a week later for the new crowns. This happened to me at least three different times with different crowns. I had to travel multiple times from San Diego to Tijuana, and take my word, it's never fun to cross the border and stand in line for the entrance to the US. In all cases, they blamed me, by the way, for biting or chewing too hard. So basically, it was my fault that the crowns were cracked and broken, not because of a bad doctor or bad laboratory work. The original doctor who took care of me was Dr. Omar. Not only is he a very bad doctor, more like a butcher, but he is also a very rude and unpleasant person who doesn't speak a word of English. I've been treated by bad doctors in the past, but I can say Dr. Omar is the worst of them all. After all my crowns and bridges were done, I was not happy with the work and asked for a different doctor from this clinic. They gave me Dr. German, who was a very gentle and nice doctor, but I can't tell you if he's a great doctor because he couldn't really fix all the previous work that was done before. He did replace the broken crowns, but obviously, we couldn't redo the whole mouth from the beginning. So, Dr. German did his best to fix the bad work from Dr. Omar, but I can't say I'm happy with the results because the overall bad work from Dr. Omar could not be fixed by changing one or two crowns. None of the doctors speak English in this clinic, and they always have to call a translator from the front desk. There are only two good things about Liberty Dental. One is that they have parking outside if you drive there, and the second is one of the coordinators who speaks English very well, is very polite, and is very professional, and he's the only reason I even started treatment at this clinic. This guy's name is Emmanuel, and he really is a great guy, but I was told he no longer works with customers directly, unfortunately for them because he's the only guy I could trust. About a year after the treatment, when I came for a few repairs, I told them I was not happy with the aesthetic of the bad work Dr. Omar did and the bad work of the laboratory. But at that time, I just didn't feel like removing ten or more crowns and redoing them again. I'm not sure if they would even do that for me without a charge, but mentally, I couldn't go through this again, so I left it as it is. However, the more time passed, and every morning I looked at myself and the work they had done, I did not like it. So finally, almost towards the end of the two years of the warranty, I decided to contact them, telling them that I'm not happy with the work they have done, and I want to redo it. They told me, of course, no problem. So, my first question was if they would charge me for redoing it, and the answer was very clear, yes, of course, we have to redo it, it costs money, and I'll be charged again. So, I told them, in that case, I'm not interested in doing it with them because I already know how bad the quality of their work is, and the bad quality of the laboratory they are working with. So, of course, if I have to pay again, I will have to go to someone that this time I trust can do a better job. The bottom line is, I do not recommend this place to anyone looking for high-quality work. For average work or below that, it might work for you, but if you're looking for good quality, Liberty Dental Clinic is the last place you want to go. read more

I've spent several thousand dollars at this clinic before realizing they were either incompetent by accident, or by design when they failed to detect very obvious cavities in my children's teeth, which later resulted in root canals. In two recent cases, we found cavities the day after my kids had other treatment. That's when I suspected that they ignored cavities in order to make a far higher profit later on with $4-800 root canals (and heavy up-selling) rather than fixing minor $120 cavities at the present time. Now am worried that the past work they've done on my family's teeth may have also been sub-standard. I texted them about this--no reply. This is just another typical TJ business, no pride nor professionalism. But I am surprised they are still in operation. read more

I had great work done with my crown and I am very satisfied. Liberty Dental also provides crown warranty . The staff is very polite and professional. I did go there with my husband from San Diego for a routine check up and cleaning! The Dr seemed knew NOTHING about Dentisrty! He basically didn't even take any X-ray whatsoever! I think he didn't feel like doing his job that day ! He rushed out the door and told me I don't need any work done on my teeth. How do you assess without seeing some X-rays??? I had also a girl who did my cleaning but she was so new to her job and took soooooo long to finish the job !she dropped her tools left and right ! It was so so and I didn't think it was worth $60 and my time for what we got ! Same with my husband! The equipments are so outdated and the place seemed to be more of a chop shop ! I paid $3,000 plus medication, lost a molar, suffered a lot of pain, spent a lot of time and am more than ever terrified of the dentist. And I still have to pay more money to fix what they messed up. I want to tell the whole story so you can understand what happened. I went to Liberty Dental based on reviews (but now I can't imagine them being all real). I had pain in one molar and when they checked they said I needed to replace all of my crowns because they were "misfit" even though I had no other issues. I believed them because they are about 8 to 9 years old, so I agreed on getting them replaced. They did all 7 of them and a couple weeks after I felt a lot of problems with 3 crowns. Food was getting in stuck in between, I felt pain and it was an infection. I decided to get an opinion here in San Diego. They took x rays and said all the crowns were not done properly, that they don't go all the way down and are not sealed so food goes in and that's why I got the infection. So I went back and they replaced them all, and I thought that was it! But weeks later I still have an infection and had a big gap between 2 of the crowns. Again, I called them and they told me to go and they will fix it, so I did and they replaced 2 of them. Now another few weeks go by and I get the worst pain, it's very sore and swollen. I wait a few days but can't handle the pain so I went back and they said that now I have to get my tooth pulled out and buy an implant. I am terrified to let them do any work on me at this point so I just said I will think about it. I returned to SD and went to my previous dentist. They took X rays of my whole mouth to find out I had an infection on the bone and I had to pull it out. The infection I got was caused by the food filtering, 3 of the crowns are still not sealed properly and I have to get them fixed plus get bone graft and now wait months to decide if I want to buy an implant. Oh and the first time I went back they tried to blame me for it they said I floss too hard, I never heard that and I never had problems with previous crowns because of the way I floss. Also they will say to go back I'm sure but after 3 tries? Would anyone go back? They say you get what you pay for, if I knew all this I would have happily paid more money in SD and not go through everything I went through and I still have to. read more

I lived in San Diego 30 years ago and had minor dental work done in TJ, I now live in Oregon and visit my daughter and family 3-4 times a year so when I was quoted $4500 by my local dentist for a new upper and a lower partial denture I thought I'd try TJ again and was pleasantly surprised to get the partials done for $1300 at Liberty Dental ! Omar, Hector. Eric. Abel and ALL of the girls were great. Very polite and personable. Liberty took care of the taxi fares from and to the border on both of my visits. They have a lab on premises and are able to do the fitting and adjustments that come with new partials. I have a 2 year guarantee and will be interested to see what my dentist back home says on my regular check-up!! I ate a footlong Subway sandwich when I got back to the U.S. and all was good!
