I finally get to review! I had picked out my ring about 1.5 years ago, but finally got it recently, yay. First off diamonds are one of those things you may only buy once or a few times in your life (more of course if you roll in the dough), but Troy at Liberty knows his diamonds!! I went to a local place at first with I thought a "deal", a .97 EGL diamond, that was DEEP, basically all the weight on the bottom, and size face up comparable to .85, not anywhere near the 1 carat on paper. I did some education, even got on Pricescope, super anal really hardcore diamond forum. Bottom line, cut is key, so seriously how a .2% variation in an angle in the way it's cut will affect how sparkly and beautiful it is. Ideal cut diamonds are more expensive than poorly cut diamonds (more rough material has to be cut). So basically do some homework. What makes Liberty awesome is Troy really looks for those values, the ones CUT beautifully but maybe a clean SI1 or lower color grading than it actually is, he's super picky. My diamond, seriously, smaller than what I had in mind, but perfect symmetry, and gorgeous. Very competitively priced with what you'd find online or better. Don't go to a place advertising 1ct solitares for $2k, bleh. Get educated or come have Troy school you and you will find the best quality selection and pricing! As I do more and more research, just solidifies my happiness with what they've got going here. We chose not to break the bank with my ring/set, but got something gorgeous and better than most of what's out there. They can handle any budget! Also, ask about their non traditional cuts or handmade pieces (most erings are cast, more affordable but not the same as handmade), they're truly gorgeous and unique. read more

Troy and Cristina made the whole process a very memorable one, it was so much fun to design and create my own engagement ring. I live 2 blocks from the jewelry district downtown and yet still made the drive to Irvince on a strong referral I got from findmyjeweler.com. There wasn't a single place downtown they recommended. I still looked around downtown, but I didn't feel comfortable anywhere but Liberty. After our first visit, we were able to finish the final choices in their downtown location. It's just best to make the first visit to Irvince since that is where all the inventory is. The process started with Troy helping us choose the center diamond. Troy is very fussy about the diamonds he buys, the quality and price of the stone we got was better than anything I had come across in my shopping in stores or online. Then Cristina helped me with the design. There were a few rings I liked, so we combined all my favorite aspects into one ring, she hand drafted the design on paper which I approved. From there the design and stones (I got to pick the side stones too) were sent to the jewelry maker who hand crafted the ring. At this point I stepped out of the picture and let my boyfriend handle the rest. My boyfriend surprised (yes, even after all this he pulled off a surprise!) me with the ring about 6 weeks later. The result was stunning, I'm so in love with my ring, it's everything I ever dreamed of and more! I would never go back. The man that helped us, if I could even call it that, was extremely condescending. It was probably the worst service I've received from a jeweler. When I finally came to pick up my ring, there was a gift bag set aside with ring cleaning supplies, etc. that they give to their customers. When I asked that my stone be set a little lower (as originally requested but not executed in final product) he swapped the gift bag for a sample cleaning product and never gave me the bag. First off I'd like to say that my wife and I are beyond satisfied with the customer service we have received over the past 8 years from Jeffrey Seymour, and his praise is long overdue (I really hate participating in reviews). Even a high end business is nothing without having a rapport with it's customers, and one based on trust. Having been referred to Jeffrey by a good friend of mine who also bought his wedding rings through Liberty Diamonds, we couldn't have been more pleased with his genuine care and concern for "us" rather than solely on the sale. Over the years we have come to find that no matter what, Jeffrey treats us as family despite our boring routine of coming in for periodic cleanings, maintenance, and repairs. Having only ever dealt with one other employee in the past who rudely accused my wife of being too hard on her ring when a repair was needed (that guy was very condescending and dismissive as well), we feel fortunate to have dealt with Jeffery on every other occasion! "Way to go Jeffrey, "you" are why we keep coming back!" Having said that, I couldn't be more disappointed in today's visit to Liberty Diamonds where a diamond repair, plating, and polishing had just been completed. Upon my arrival, I was welcomed by Jeffrey who proceeded to retrieve my wife's rings, which someone else had prepared for return. As a genuine gesture to make sure the repair work met his expectations, I was advised that the repair had been made improperly and the ring had both a loose diamond and a substandard laser repair, which "would" have caused the same diamond to fall out in the near future. While I absolutely praise Jeffrey for catching this error, I grew increasingly annoyed as the day went on realizing that had he not been there, I would have been sent out the door with a faulty ring, and being ignorant to such a thing, I would have blamed my wife for being too hard on her ring when the diamond eventually fell out. I know this to be a small issue, but for all the praise this business seems to receive, it's attention to detail and quality control fell short this time around, with not only the repair work being shoddy, but also with an inspection seemingly not having taken place prior to inviting me down to pick up the "repaired" ring. While I expect more from such a high end business, I am not surprised in the least to experience yet again the awesome customer service provided by Jeffrey, in being honest and advising me of the faults. 5 stars to you sir! read more

I found this store after I decided I would propose to my girlfriend. We had talked about getting engaged and window shopped for rings at several of the brand named stores. It appeared from their reviews that if I could dream it, then they could deliver it. Let me tell you that I am a hard one to impress and my expectations are always extremely high. So I scheduled an appointment and met with Jeffrey Seymour at their store. I felt secure as I was buzzed in. I was greeted respectfully and welcomed into the store. It had a small business owner feel without the pressure to buy anything commonly associated with small and large jewelry stores. There was a display room and private offices for consultations. We spoke privately where he listened carefully to me. He could have tried to sell me his old stock or his new stock of jewelry. But he didn't. He listened to me tell him the dream my girlfriend had of her engagement ring. He looked at the photographs I gave him and listened to the specific features the engagement ring would have to contain. And then, I told him my budget and time constraints. He looked me in the eyes, shook my hand, and confidently told me that he would deliver. He gave me some recommendations based on his training and experience which were spot on to help design my girlfriend's dream engagement ring. His expertise really came into play when we decided on the metal for the setting and the features of the engagement ring's Diamonds. I received genuine one on one professional customer service as if I was a millionaire or a family member which I am neither. Listen, I had some serious reservations about designing an engagement ring from a bunch of photographs. I was going to pay a lot of money for jewelry I had not seen based on a handshake and a promise. Seymour under promised and over delivered. He met our deadline, produced a one of a kind stunning engagement ring, and did it within my budget. After I proposed, we returned to purchase our wedding bands. My wife and I came back after one year to get our wedding rings and bands here, because, where else am I going to go now after I've connected with a "gem" of a Jeweler (ok, that was horrible) The two of us walked in and David showed us some wedding bands. Luckily for me, my wife is the kind of girl who knows exactly what she wants and when the right one caught her eye, she didn't give it a second thought. We were carefully measured (three times, just to be sure) and the piece was to be custom made to be picked up 6 weeks from now. On the mens side, the selection was HUGE. One of the rings I saw was made from a meteorite rock that landed in Ethiopia. Talk about being out of this world, literally. Looked cool too. The Staff were friendly and helpful. Again, we made our own sale and only purchased when we said we were. In fact, I don't even remember the point of sale moment! we never felt any pressure during our buying experience. The day wasn't without a bit of shenanigans though. We were shown some hilarious pieces that some customers have designed and learned a bit on what it takes to price a stone. These guys will really sit and educate you on what you need and want to know about diamonds. Also, I suppose to celebrate my newlywed life, we were even offered a shot of whiskey. (I can't say what kind, you will just have to go there to find out). This wasn't to loosen us up, mind you, it was quite spontaneous. I had to decline.
