Troy is easy-going and operates in a no pressure manner. Troy patiently answered my litany of questions, he (kindly) corrected misinformation I had, he even welcomed my curiosity and took time to educate me. And Troy knows diamonds! Troy is a GIA Graduate Gemologist and he knows all of the technical aspects that make a diamond truly spectacular. Equally, if not more important, he has examined probably thousands of diamonds in his 20+ year career, and, since he is the owner's son, he has been around diamonds his entire life. Anyhow, I gave Troy specifics about the type diamond I was looking to purchase and the dollar range that I wanted to stay in. We set an appointment for Troy to show me diamonds that he hand-selected to meet my criteria. When we met, Troy could have only presented me with diamonds at the high end of, or exceeding my budget; after all, he knew I wasn't going to compromise on quality. But Troy showed me diamonds at low, middle, and high end of my budget. I was very impressed withTroy's honesty and integrity. As we looked at each diamond, Troy was extremely transparent. He showed me GIA certificates, and he used a cool microscope device that allows you to see the diamond under great magnification on a computer monitor. But, I wasn't sure. So I examined diamonds at an ultra luxury jewelry store at South Coast Plaza. I wanted to know if the diamonds they sold were superior in proportion and symmetry--and thus yielded a superior diamond with more fire and brilliance. NOPE! The diamonds they sell are not superior. The diamond I bought from Liberty Diamonds rivals anything I saw at South Coast Plaza. Troy found me a breathtaking diamond with extraordinary brilliance and fire at an amazing price. I was in search for an engagement ring and researched what I could through google, youtube, and inquiring with friends who had gone through the process. It can be a daunting one, and whenever $$$ is involved it adds extra stress. To summarize my buying process, it took about 2 months to finally find the best ring. I must have gone to 10 different jewelers across downtown LA (jewelry district), Fullerton jewelry mart, before finally agreeing with Liberty Diamonds. If I had met Troy (owner's son) from the beginning, it probably would've saved me all that time. It's still important to do your homework and meet different wholesalers and look at different diamonds and ring settings and get an idea on prices, but Troy's service and selection were what sold me. I had heard that buying a ring is like buying a car - many places offer similar styles and settings, and prices aren't all that off, but the service is what usually separates a sale from a non sale. It is true - many of the places I visited ask the same questions and would show me stones that would fit my preferences (cut, color, carat, clarity). None of them really stood out, and I could have just decided to buy from what I thought would be the least expensive jeweler. What separated Troy was not only his patience and his efforts, but he actually explained the technical aspects of the stone and what made the Cushion cut (which is what I wanted) unique in its own regard. He wasn't flaunting his own stones per se, but explained what other jewelers were probably showing me (cushion modified) vs. what he could show me (cushion brilliants). When I went back to the other jewelers a 2nd and 3rd time and double checked the GIA reports, what Troy was saying was accurate. I put a lot of value on trust and honesty, and he is a man who wanted to genuinely help me during the process regardless if I was going to buy from him or not. Troy helped me, meticulously went over each piece with me, and offered to appraise them. The appraisal came in quickly and the bracelets came back absolutely beautiful. After briefly examining the ring under a magnifying lens, Troy determined that the center stone on my ring had chipped. I'm so excited to write this review. I had to wait to propose before I could share how amazing it was at Liberty Diamonds! Miranda was incredibly helpful in answering many many many questions. My now fiancee and I visited a few times to look at diamonds and walk through options. It was clear early on that they don't pick diamonds solely based on how they are rated on paper - the diamonds they showed us were clearly selected because they were great diamonds. Miranda stayed within budget and showed us diamonds that looked like they should be much more expensive. My fiancee requested a very specific cut, and Miranda went out of her way to find the perfect diamond. I went to other stores to find similar diamonds and looked online, and Liberty was definitely the right place to be shopping in terms of price and selection. We had my fiancee's wedding and engagement rings custom made by Liberty Diamonds at the end of March. On our initial visit, Miranda helped and educated us on diamonds and ring styles. We had been shopping and working with a shop closer to us (Seal Beach) and were almost set to go with them, but went back to Liberty to do our due diligence. Jeffrey, who is knowledgeable and cordial, helped us on our second visit, and he's the one who sealed the deal for us. He had us look at the diamonds with the naked eye, under direct and indirect sun, and under the microscope, explained in detail the statistics of each of the diamonds, and worked with us on our budget and schedule.
