Probably the best breakfast sandwich in Nassau County. Lunch sandwiches and menu sandwiches are also top notch. Team behind the counter is always nice and courteous. They also think ahead and ask the little questions that matter when going to your local deli. It's usually a 5-10 minute turn around but on a busy beautiful weekend or during the summer months the earlier the better. Quaint atmosphere with a small counter area by the window to eat at but also a couple of spots outside. In the later hours the back door turns into a no frills all thrill burger haven (red light). Some nights they switch to burritos (green light). Hours for that are 730p-130a (check IG though). read more

This place would easily get 5 stars if it wasn't for the fact that one guy (and sometimes brunette girl) behind the counter are never wearing masks, and haven't been for at least the last 6 months of this pandemic. They have signage up outside requiring masks and to limit the number of customers in the store, but they actually allow any number of patrons in and I've even been in there when other customers don't have masks on. Would definitely recommend calling in your order ahead of time, especially on the weekend when it's busier, to limit your time inside the store. This review still gets 4 stars because the sandwiches really are that good. I would recommend the Full Monte and El Guapo as the best sandwiches, but anything you get will be delicious especially when eaten as fresh as possible. Their chicken cutlets are usually juicy and flavorful, and they have an endless amount of amazing sauces and toppings. Whatever sandwich they have as a special for the day is also bound to be very good. As you can probably tell by the pictures, the sandwiches are pretty big. Their salads are okay, but I would definitely recommend a sandwich if you are coming here, and/or a side of coleslaw or potato salad. We had made a speciality sandwich that cost about 16 dollars and had it delivered. When we got the order it was a BEC sandwich and i do not like bacon. When i called to tell them they said they would refund me the money which i was happy about. A week goes by i spoke with Antonio and he was kind but the money still not refunded. The names are just as creative and inspiring as the sandwiches are themselves. On a bright and sunny summer afternoon the shop was bustling with patrons. It has a distinctive laid back beachy atmosphere, and the iced coffee tastes just as fresh as the sandos' ingredients. They even offer gluten free bread which my partner in crime relishes. Our sandos are ready surprisingly fast considering the amount of customers that are packed into the shop. Outside at a picnic table I dug into The "Whoa Hakka" which is a delicious mix of eggs, chorizo, Oaxacan cheese, with chopped and roasted poblano peppers and crispy hash browns wrapped in a flour tortilla. The flavors melt together perfectly into a medley of comfort for your mouth. The "crowd favorite" which should be renamed "my favorite" is an everything crusted chicken cutlet slathered in french onion aioli. It's completed with heirloom tomatoes, mixed greens on a toasted ciabatta. It's a piece of artwork for your eyes and taste buds. Great sandwiches but was shocked to walk in for a take out order today (April 25th) to see everyone violating the mask/distancing order, both staff and patrons. There were at least 5 or 6 employees that I could see and none, including the girl at the register, were wearing masks. There were also about 5 customers waiting inside for their orders and none had a mask. I'm not a mask whistleblower and only wear one when absolutely within a short distance but was surprised to see there was no monitoring of the number of customers allowed in their small space nor masks, particularly for food handlers. Walked into the store and was greeted with an instant feeling of them not wanting me there. I don't know if it is because I am an African American male or what but it is unacceptable! The woman behind the counter was incredibly rude and was barking at me when I was asking about their menu options. As I'm waiting for my food I hear foul language left and right from the brunette behind the counter. I thought this restaurant was family friendly? I ordered the French toast sticks and they were putrid! Imagine greasy fried dough coupled with a taste of burnt cardboard and there you have it. Along with the French toast sticks I ordered a crumb cake muffin that tasted like it had come right out of the trash. The only positive here was that the bacon egg and cheese my wife ordered was tolerable. Regardless, I am disgusted they could charge so much for food that is so unbearable. Finally, to conclude this awful meal, I was met with a terrible stomach ache from what I assume to be the French toast sticks. This particular review is going to be for the "Blackdoor Burger" portion of this restaurant and particularly the two gentlemen working the overnight of Saturday, September 4th. I've had many a pleasant experience here in the morning. They make a fine bacon egg and cheese and the iced coffee is solid. I just got off work and wanted something late night so here I was. There were a few people milling around who had already ordered. The guy busted my chops immediately when I asked for two plain cheeseburgers and two orders of fries. He said "we don't do plain here, you can take what we make or you can wait and hour. So I said "okay let me please get two burgers however you make em and two fries" Guy takes my cash. A small crowd gathers waiting to place orders but to be honest a well mannered bunch for such a late night crowd. No big mouths, or rude people just some hungry party goers. A few orders get placed. About 20 minutes go by, and the line cook comes out for a smoke. Kind of barrels through people outside waiting, kinda rude but whatever. Goes back inside, doesn't wash his hands and gets back to work. Another 10 mins pass- the guy at the window has now given out 2 orders busted countless customers chops and then the line cook, or second in command comes out for yet another smoke, this time being vocally rude to the customers he walks though and slams the door on his way out. Again he returns without washing his hands. Forget that I'm waiting 30 legit minutes for 2 burgers. It's late, this crop of customers were friendly but the previous groups may not have been, the wait isn't what's annoying. It's been the rudeness. Some guy goes up to the window and asks to order a burger without tomato and the order taker guy says "we don't do no tomatos, you can take em how we make em or you it's an hour wait for that". Now when I peek through the little speakeasy window I can see what must be a 20 orders of fries already made and lots of burgers wrapped already, but I don't make any assumptions. Fries, maybe they're getting ahead of some orders, and the burgers could be for a big order I didn't see placed. But it seemed kinda weird to be waiting what was now 45 minutes for 2 burgers and 2 orders of fries, especially when I placed my order the crowd had not yet formed. I have a sneaking suspicion that if anyone asks for a plain burger or something like no pickles the dude goes off on a power trip and flexes. It seemed to me, since most people pay as they place their order, he was talking rudely to people almost in the hope they might say something and he could tell them to "F" off. He finally calls my name and and goes to hand me the bag but pulls it back and asks me if I ordered a bunch of stuff, and I said no I just got two burgers and fries. And he's like oh that's right the guy who wanted plain burgers. Well this is yours. And I was like you just said there were a lot of stuff I didn't order in there, I don't want to take someone elses stuff. He goes, I know. I know what I said. But these are yours. Two plain burgers with everything on them. It had literally been 45 mins, no exaggeration and dude already had my money so I just took my food and went to go eat on the benches. Open the bag, fries Ice Cold, Burgers sloppier than I've ever had them here and also Ice Cold. Truth is, sloppy burgers, cold fries, long wait. None of these things really annoyed me. They weren't awesome but like its 4am, you haven't eaten in hours, who cares. But the rudeness carried out by both guys working here on Saturday seemed to go above and beyond just typical annoyed workers. It seemed to me, to be quite antagonistic toward all of the customers. Maybe this isn't the norm. Maybe they just happened to have two jerky dudes there on this night- because the burgers and fries late night are usually bomb.com and the breakfast sammiches here are also usually super solid. But I think it was worth mentioning because those two dudes were really, obnoxiously rude to folks and the people on line, at least while I was there all actually seemed like nice, hungry, easy going people.
