The only issue I have with the place is the parking. Excellent pizza and entrees. Great service plenty of room.

So we saw this place on the one bite app. We ordered take out our first time and it was horrible and the pizza was very cold. We decided to give it another shot since the app rated it an 8.1. We ordered calamari and mozzarella sticks as an appetizer, they were average. But the waitress didn't even give us plates and we didn't see her again so we just ate off the platter. Then we ordered 2 pies, 1 small pie and a margarita. Still a disappointment and I guess having it inside vs take out didn't really matter because it was still not hot. The sauce and cheese was ok tasting but the dough and crust tasted like nothing it was basically a baked tortilla. Oh and the waitress once again forgot to give us plates so we had to ask and then she went missing the rest of the dinner. Worse 70 bucks plus tip. read more

Listed as one of the top pizza spots in Jersey. Reading the recent reviews I was skeptical (pizza not the same, staff isn't friendly). So going there I prepped myself not to be let down. Oh the contrary. The place wasn't all that busy on a Tuesday night (keep in mind they are closing for renovations soon and wait times can exceed a couple of hours during peak times). We got there around opening (5pm) and the place didn't get that busy until we left around 7ish. I agree the place needs an update (which is coming) but it's nostalgic. it's dark, it's cozy and it's old. Torn up leather seats, musk of spilled drinks and fluids of the past, wooden tables everywhere. Time warp but I loved it. Adds character! The waitress we had couldn't have been friendlier. Checked on us but not overbearing. Food came out piping hot. We ordered: Their famous sliced steak (outstanding). Melted butter, layer of sliced steak and some white toast on the bottom. I opted for their Italian bread on the side and made mini sandwiches (you're welcome). You wouldn't think it but it was flavorful and tasted freshly sliced. It came with a small bowl of crinkle cut fries and a salad (they drench it in dressing so opt for it on the side). Pizza (great). Thin crust...and I mean thin...like cracker thin. Layer of sauce (not too sweet), cheese and whatever topping you prefer. We ordered 2 pies (yeah we love to eat). One had pepperoni, onions and olives (best combo)! Now it wasn't the best pizza I ever had but it's definitely in top 10. The other pie (meatball) was good but my preference was the other one. Prices are good. Each topping is an additional $2. Alcohol is served but nothing on draft (as expected - bottles only) and they carry the basics (had to settle for Heineken). Wine is cheap variety. I will definitely be back and although I have only been there this one time, I'm sure to miss the old school character it once was. read more

Could've been better. Super let down by the bar pie! Our pizza craving was not satisfied. There was a ridiculous amount of raw flour. When you were chewing your slice the dough became sticky like glue as if I was eating a saltine cracker. Maybe it was just a bad pie. read more

Their best item on the menu is the pizza. Personally I enjoy a thicker crust on my pizza, but I can say they have a pretty solid thin/cracker-style crusted pizza that has great flavor as long as it isn't burnt. The sliced steak sandwich was ordered 3 times at our table, 2 of them were just okay and the 3rd was raw. All three steak sandwiches were requested to be medium rare, so that was disappointing. This is supposed to be one of their famous items on the menu. The environment here is pretty loud, kind of like a bar atmosphere except with crying children. If I were to order here again, I would just get a pizza to go. read more

Ordered ahead online. Wait time was 40 minutes. No problem for us as we were picking up and taking two pies to a local brewery. Arrived after I had received notification that my order was ready. Bartender printed the ticket and asked the runner to grab the pies. Runner came back and said there was no order with my name. Bartender asked for clarification and I heard the runner say there was no order. Bartender went back to investigate and came back. Said the kitchen was running behind and it would just be a few more minutes. Then I watched as she entered my order in again. After 15 minutes more I asked the bartender if my order never was prepared. She again said it was the kitchen being backed up. Restaurant was half filled at the time with plenty of extra tables. So after waiting another 30 minutes inside, I finally received two pies that were just meh. Own up to your mistakes and offer to make it right. Lying just stinks. Not worthy of an 8.2 read more

My wife and I went to Lido's Sunday afternoon because my wife was in the mood for pizza. We haven't been to Lido's in ages, so we thought we'd give it a try and see what the new place looked like. We ordered a large pizza and spaghetti and meatballs. If you like thin pizza this is the place for you. The pizza was tasty , the crust was very thin and crisp. My wife really like it a lot. I prefer a thicker crust. The spaghetti could have used more sauce/gravy. The meatballs were very tasty but hard and dry. Looks like were just cooked and had some sauce poured over them. They should have been cooked in the sauce so that they were softer and not dry. Lidos' was kind of on the dark side, it needs brighter lighting and was very noisy. It could also use sound proofing. We would go back for the pizza and maybe try the sliced steak sandwich which Lido's is known for. read more

Okay I know everyone will hate on me for this but not a fan and I'm sure no one will care. It's been around for 50 years. I was here in 1971 and it looks exactly the same. The seats are torn up, the place looks dirty but yes it's being completely renovated in a few weeks so another reason no one will care. We ordered the open steak sandwich which looked like cold cut sliced thin steak orchestrated to cover the entire plate with bread so thin underneath it was non-existent and the entire thing slathered in butter. Not my idea of a steak sandwich! I'm sorry I didn't take a photo as it was actually bazaar looking The pizza is thin crust and I love thin crust pizza but not this one. I've had much better. The crust tasted weird and "mealy". Is that a word? Anyway someone must love it but I'll take a pass It was very crowded with customers trying to get their last bit of nostalgia in and check in with the wait staff that has been there many years. We had to wait quite a while for our food, our check etc I am told that the food will remain the same, the wait staff etc. so I guess I won't be coming back. Too many great pizza places around this area and this can not compare to any of them (thin or thick crust). read more

Under previous ownership this place was nothing short of amazing. It was an institution and really you couldn't do wrong going there. My friends and I went together in our 20's and eventually, we started bringing our kids there. Then they got bought. I have ordered from there at least 4 times in the last year. Each time I give them the benefit of the doubt. I really want them to be good. Each time is worse than the last. We have ordered: Steak (Cattleman's) The Sliced Steak Sandwich Chicken Parm Spaghetti and Meatballs Pizza I'm not a hard person to please. But, there is nothing special about this place anymore. The food quality is poor. The steak cuts are all grisly. Always over cooked. Sliced steak, steak ums. Chicken Parm is nowhere close to what it was before. It's gross, really microwave stuff I have had is better. They don't sauce their spaghetti and meatballs. The meatball itself tastes like ground beef. Pizza always comes cold. You need to put it back in the oven and honestly it's a pain in the rear. Management has no desire to help. Initially they would. That was probably last spring. Now they realize how bad it is. I was on the phone with manger, all I got was what do you want me to do? It's obvious. Fix it. You can do infinitely better at your local pizza place. If your in New Milford, Romans is way better. read more

Order two plain and a family steak sandwich. Pizza was as good as ever and could eat a whole large if I didn't stop myself. The sliced steak was super buttery and delicious. After giving the "new" Lido's a good and fair shake, I can't help but be disappointed. I've been going with my family since the mid 70's and have ordered the sliced steak for many, many years. It has become inedible and I'm so sad. It used to be so thin, but now thicker, tough, cheap pieces of meat are served. After thinking it was a few "off" nights, I can no longer order my favorite dish here. The salad has also changed and not for the better. The house dressing isn't the same and while mixed mesclun greens may be the trendy salad of the moment, Lido's customers appreciate the original iceberg lettuce with the old house dressing. I'm certainly not in the minority here. 3 generations of my family going to Lido's but we won't be regulars anymore. Pizza still good but the sliced steak is a deal breaker for me. read more

Cozy, welcoming, a gathering place that has stood the test of time (68 years!), with a very hospitable staff creating a place for people to gather over good food & drink. Places like Lido should be cherished. And honored for surviving so long in such a difficult business. It was our first time here! Why'd we wait so long? Smoky Old-Fashioned and Black Cherry Manhattan started us off, great drinks with proper ice (and quality cherries, not the candy land maraschino)...a little salad, some amazing garlic bread (no cheese) and then spaghetti & meatballs and chicken parm. Then red velvet cake to share. Big portions, pasta cooked nicely al dente, red sauce not acidic or sweet, just naturally tomato-y, and some of the best meatballs ever. And our server Jennifer and the rest of the team, pros on point. Can't wait to go back and try the pizza. Highly recommended. And the posters in the men's room are a hoot. read more

I love old school places like Lido it's a combo of atmosphere and food and service everyone one of those hitting the mark and bringing in great memories of what used to be in Jersey. Two visits in two months, both experiences unbelievably bad. I had to stop eating my steak sandwich about half way through because not only did it not taste good, it tasted off. The bread allocation was insanely small, which hardly mattered compared to the quality of the meat but still. Next time we went I skipped the steak but my father ordered it because it was his favorite from back in the day. Halfway through he decided to stop eating it. He said it was bland and absolutely tasteless. My family had been going to lido's back in the 90s and loved it so it was a huge bummer. Kids burger came out so over cooked my nephew was struggling to chew it. We told him he didn't have to eat anymore. Fries were undercooked. Everything was just bad, including the service. Waitress disappeared. The bell in the back which is so loud kept going off. It was clearly our food but no one was going back to get it. We've all decided we'll not be going back. read more

Wow what a embarrassment! I have never seen such a small portion for a $9 lunch special! I went to get food for my dads 60th birthday as he never tried Lido. This was my second time, and the first time was good. This is a disgrace to the restaurant to give such small portions for such a high price. You can go next door to Cosmos deli for $7 and the sandwich is twice the size! I will never come back for lunch again and I would be hard pressed to come back at all. The steak sandwich is tasty however for $14 leaves something to want. $9 for a small little chicken parm sandwich is ridiculous and I cant believe they charge that. Heard about the pizza here from a friend and it definitely lived up to the positive feedback I'd gotten. We got a large and small pizza and it's thin slice as most people have said and it was extremely tasty. Definitely better than some of the local cookie cutter pizzerias in the area. Only negatives were that the portion size of the apps were a little small and they brought out the pizza before the apps which is not ideal for me personally. Service was very proficient and accommodating and I liked the old school vibe of the place. Definitely recommend. read more

Lido's used to be my absolute favorite restaurant. While the pizza is still as delicious as ever (albeit wildly inconsistent in thickness), the rest of the establishment has gone downhill since changing owners several years ago. The salad was always a highlight for me, as for many others, but now it's nearly inedible as they've changed the lettuce to field greens, removed the olives, and changed their famous house dressing. The quality of the other food has suffered similarly. It's a real shame, but gone are Lido's glory days. read more

I made a previous post about the chicken wings and the ridiculous price for three small flats and three small drumsticks at $13.95. I was just there the other day and then I went to Nellie's in Waldwick . The pizza is just as good and the chicken wings are $11.99 for a portion double what they serve at Lido's. Again, this confirms that Lido's is overcharging for the chicken wings. read more

I finally went and tried this place after years of hearing of their amazing pizza and steak sandwiches! I got their pizza which is thin crust, I don't mind thin crust, maybe even prefer it some days but man was this thing small and thin, it was like eating a cracker with pizza ingredients on top! Now even though it was very thin it wasn't bad so don't take that out of context. I felt it was small for the price, the steak sandwich I'll have to try and possibly update later. I heard that this was sold not too long ago so not sure how much has changed with new owners nor can because I never had it before now lol well stay tuned for the "World Famous Sliced Steak Sandwich" hopefully sooner than later! 3 stars, for now read more

I do not know how this place has slipped through my radar for so many years. As someone who has spent his entire life in Bergen County, I consider myself to be somewhat of a pizza snob and expert. I have had pizza all over the state, from Kinchley's and Nellie's to Star Tavern and Patsy's, not plugging other businesses, just staples in the area. This place ranks up there with the best of them. I went back in August, sorry for the late review, I thought I left it already, and was blown away. First off the +'s. Has a liquor license and local north jersey craft beers. Big time plus. Next, the server we had knew the menu like the back of their hand and was able to suggest things. Third, the pizza was top notch. The dough was crispy and had a slight snap to it, it held up to the fold test. The cheese was plentiful and perfectly melted. I believe if you can do the basics right, you will have a life-long customer and a simple cheese pizza was fantastic. On my next trip, I will try their steak sandwich. I've been waiting almost my entire life to go to Lidos, and it finally happened last night! I was able to come for dinner with my wife and two daughters. Lidos lived up to all the expectations and then some! It's a lot more than the pizza that makes this place so cool, but that pizza is so darn good. The style falls into the same category as the thin crust big names like Kinchleys, and Ralph's, and Federicis so you're going for the crispy thin crust goodness FYI. Portnoy gave them an 8.1, but I would prob give them higher. The calamari was very good too. The service and atmosphere is really what makes this a special place. Just like the other great thin crush spots in this state, the restaurant itself is inviting, cozy and fun for the whole family! read more

New owners still need a wake-up call. This is based on a takeout order I placed during the COVID-19 crisis. $72 for 2 pizzas and "4" dinners, I wouldn't pay a cent more, thanks. No salad either. All I'm saying is the family dinner is not a deal. Food is great and I wish them well, the portions and value leave something to be desired. This is called constructive criticism. When is the renovation starting? Didn't look like much was done at all. Still looked dirty/dusty to me. Maybe they slapped a coat of paint up but then they put back up the old dirty decor. Which was acceptable for what it was. I expected much more after being closed that long for renovations. Couldn't wait to dive into the crispy thin crust pizza again.....soggy and way undercooked. The famous sliced steak.....sliced way too thin like paper...not worth the price. Chicken parm was good. Mixed veggies.....right out the frozen steamer bag. Our waiter.....he was MIA most of the night. We had to get up and find our own ketchup, grated cheese and red pepper flakes. Never checked on us. I had to flag him down for a soda and it was placed down as he was running away....didn't even leave me a straw. He then came back with the check without asking if we wanted dessert. The old school Bergen County residents I know always speak about this place with a fond look of nostalgia in their eyes, so giving Lido a try was a must. We ordered the open face steak sandwich to share as an appetizer, and ordered a pizza with veggie toppings, as the main course, since these 2 items seemed to be the objects of affection of those previously mentioned. The steak sandwich was pretty good, and if I returned would be what I ordered most likely for lunch. Its a very thinly sliced steak which you should expect medium well at best if you get cheese melted on it. I imagine its just too thin to expect it any less. The pizza was just ok, I thought the sauce could definitely be more flavorful. The waitress we had was great, and since I never been to Lido before the renovation, I would say I liked that it did not seem to be too updated to the point it lost character. There are other pizzeria regular Italian dishes on the menu that I would like to try sometime. As long as you do not let nostalgic recommendations get your expectations too high I think Lido is worth a try read more

We've been going to Lidos for 30 years. The food is consistent-nothing special, but always enjoyable. Now, with new owners, they want to be a bar. Burgers undercooked, pizza comes to table warm if not cold. Of course the money is made on liquor, but serving a hot meal should be at the top of the list on running a restaurant. Our family loves thin sliced so this is definitely a go to for it, plus it tastes amazing. The reason I gave it only 2 stars is the size. Maybe if you eat there it's different but when you're paying $18 for a large pie, you expect the circumference of it to at least reach the ends of the box but really? What's this? My 3 year old can eat this by herself. They use to send large pies but this is not even close to Pizza Hut. Super disappointed I have to try to feed my family of 3 with this dinky pie. read more

I have been coming to Lido ever since I was a kid. I have a lot of memories of this place. I was a little hesitant when they underwent a renovation. But it maintained some of the old charm and fixed it up really nicely actually. I went there recently and the food and prices were as good as always. I had the sliced steak sandwich which is always a favorite. It was delicious. Service was prompt and friendly. The Lido is in no way a fancy restaurant but it's charming, has great food, good service, and a ton of history. This place is still going strong and doing a good job! read more
