Lido 701 Main Street Hackensack, NJ 07601 French Onion Pizza French Onion Gluten Free Sample Slice Appearance: 9/10 Taste: 9.2/10 I previously posted about this locally owned bar and restaurant located at the intersection of Main Street and Temple Avenue. I decided to return to explore a newly crafted menu item. Before the dish was officially revealed, General Manager Kevin showed me the pizza oven where the new creation was baking and bubbling. French Onion Pizza: Combine Lido's original thin crust pizza with a classic French dish and a newly unique creation is born. Originally, I was skeptical because I never envisioned integrating a popular soup with a plain cheese pie. As soon as I took my first bite, my skepticism disappeared in a heartbeat. The entire pie has more than its fair share of caramelized onions that were simmered in a homemade broth. The crust is thin and crispy with perfectly golden mozzarella cheese. It was scrumptious down to the last bite. French Onion Gluten Free Sample Slice If you have any food allergies, a gluten free version is also available. This is still decent, but I personally prefer the original gourmet pie. Thank you Owner Steve and General Manager Kevin for introducing me to this new menu addition. #lido #lidorestaurant #lidohackensack #frenchonionpizza #frenchonion

Loved it here! Kenny was super attentive. Calamari was SOME OF THE BEST I'VE EVER HAD! Sauce left much to be desired but the calamari itself was so crispy and soft, it didn't even need any sauce... just a bit lemon. MUST GET! Pizza was good, super thin. The steak was not for me. My boyfriend loved it but it is on the more buttery side.

Blast from the past and not sure how many places are this authentic anymore. Went on a Monday before noon and there was no wait. French onion soup was a bit salty. The pizza is bar pie style and delicious. Order more than you think you'll need. It was great to finally come here.

Update to my prior review, which was for takeout. Our 1st experience dining in was fantastic. We dropped by for an early Sunday lunch at around 11:30am and, as we had expected, it was very quiet inside of this old school bar/restaurant. There were just 2 other diners sitting together and that was it. Our waitress, Colette, was awesome. She was super nice and attentive throughout our time here. We ordered a large regular/cheese thin crust pizza and a single open slice steak sandwich. The pizza was even BETTER than the first time that I came here for takeout, mainly because it was hot out of the oven and sooooooo fresh. There really isn't anything better than a super fresh pizza right out of the oven. As advertised, the pizza was very thin and crispy and, honestly, absolutely PERFECT. As good as a bar pie will ever get. The open slice steak sandwich was also GREAT! The steak was juicy, flavorful and tender. It came with a small salad and fries and I actually really enjoyed the small salad, which came with their house dressing. And the fries reminded me of Nathan's fries. Overall, this establishment is AWESOME. I'm sure it gets crowded during peak times on weekends, but if you're seeking a low-key, quiet environment at a restaurant that serves ridiculously good pizza, Lido's the perfect spot on weekend afternoons.

We came here for some pizzas and were disappointed in the service and food. The servers all had attitude and sass, which was surprising. The pizzas were alright but very oily and not as crispy as we thought they would be.

Tried the pizza, chicken parm and meatballs! Yum yum yum! Place is really cute has a lot of old charm. Thursday is trivia night so we had fun while dinning. Would go back and try more.

    Gotta try the pizza!

There's a reason this place is as old as the pay phone in the lobby! The dark mob style restaurant makes you feel like you're on the set of the sopranos. The open face steak sandwich is award winning and pretty sure won some award in 2025 again. It's been somewhere I've been coming with my family for years and it never fails, the bar pie is incredible as an app but the open face steak sandwich is where it's at. If you're in the area worth the try!

After packing and loading up all the handcuffs and stuff from the 2025 NY-NJ Police Collectors Show Dave Cavaliere and I headed off to nearby Hackensack for a visit to the iconic Lido Restaurant. Lido, which has been around since 1956 still retains that nostalgic, old school, family owned bar & grill vintage vibe, even after being renovated in 2028. Famously known for their thinny thin pizza (8.1 on the Portnoy scale) and their legendary thinly sliced, open faced steak sandwiches, you know this was on my mind. I love throw back, divey, retro style joints and Lido's certainly fits that bill. Lido's small but full bar, leather booth seating, and vintage decor creates a warm, cozy, tight, and welcoming atmosphere, and the service was fast and friendly (thank you to our server, Madison). We ordered the small pie as an appetizer, and it met all expectations. Very thin and crispy crust, good sauce, no flop, and crunched in you mouth when taking a bite. Simple, but very tasty and satisfying. I could easily consume a whole pie myself. Next time I go back I probably will. Definitely a thumbs up ! It also went well with a couple of ice cold beers. The open face steak sandwich was also a hit. Thin slices of juicy, tender, flavorful steak over a thin slice of bread, and covered with a nice sized portion of perfectly fried french fries. It also came with a side of cole slaw, (you have a choice of soup, salad, or the slaw) which was so good it tasted like a dessert. Great stop, good food, you should give them a visit. The only negative is that parking in the area is difficult, but you can't have everything. 04/13/2025

The pizza here is really good, super thin crust and flavorful. The white pie is a must, cheesy and garlicky. The sliced steak sandwich is a must as well, we added the sautéed onions but that's optional. The steak was soft and flavorful, and the bread was good too. The sangria was really good too! Our server was nice and took care of us quickly. The restaurant does get crowded but service is fast. Can't wait to go back!

My wife and I are pizza lovers. So we enjoy trying out viral pizza. We decided to try Lido since it got an 8.1 rating by Barstool. However, we were very disappointed and did not believe this pizza deserved an 8.1. It wasn't bad but it wasn't great.

The only issue I have with the place is the parking. Excellent pizza and entrees. Great service plenty of room.

The capellini is a blend of primarily angel hair and sweet sausage. Simply add a touch of parmesan cheese and you'll be in heaven. I usually eat cheese filled ravioli with marinara sauce, but the chef put an excellent twist to this dish! The food preparer has given a new meaning to ravioli by altering the filling and the sauce making it tastier. On a slightly constructive note, I enjoyed the tartufo but it's basically a pricey version of a Klondike bar with a cherry in the middle. However, their cakes are out of this world. The tres leches and chocolate mousse has the perfect amount of sugar and consistency. Sweets like these are the reason why there are two "s" in dessert; you'll always crave seconds! From appetizer to dessert, you'll dine like a king in a suburban palace. Be sure to go the full distance with a three course meal! #italianrestaurant #njfoodie #ravioli #calamari

The red sauce and shredded parmesan cheese went well with the main and the side. The chicken parmesan is served with mixed vegetables. Substituting the veggies is not allowed, so I ordered a side of pasta for an upcharge. Although I enjoyed this meal, the minor drawback is the substitution policy. In my personal opinion, I feel that pasta is the ideal side dish for any CP entree. Vegetables should not the side dish unless I'm ordering chicken marsala or chicken francese. Otherwise, I was still satisfied with the food, service and overall ambiance of the restaurant.

My daughter liked her penne pasta with butter and cheese. We wanted to get some mocktails, but they were out of virgin mojito, per the server. Not sure how was that possible!!! The disappointing part of the lunch was the mediocre service. Even though I mentioned it was a birthday celebration in the reservation, no one bothered to wish or ask us if we were celebrating anything. Our server only had to attend our table, yet he only came by three times, once to ask us about water, then to take our order, and once after our appetizers were served. Half of the time he invisible and rest of the time he was just hanging out by the register area stairs, chit chatting with other staff members. We refilled our own water and had to grab other stuff members to get extra plates and utensils. I was super annoyed to pay premium price only to experience a diner like service. I didn't even bother to order the Zeppole from the dessert menu. I paid the check and we walked out as quickly as we could.

So, the comfort that I didn't quite find at my hotel? I found it here -- at an Italian restaurant…read more I wasn't so much in the mood for Italian food as I was for patio/al fresco dining and something delicious to drink. The food was an afterthought (initially). At Aumm Aumm, it (the food) became the main story. My rideshare dropped me off and I thought, 'This will do.' A large patio in the late spring sun was just what I needed. I walked in and said I was a party of one and I wanted to eat outside. Done. Soon, a very chatty and kind waiter was taking good care of me and offering a glass bottle of still water.* As I am wont to do, I ate in waves: appetizer and main course (and, if I have the room/interest, dessert). A drink and a solid. A began my meal with the burrata. Rarely can you go wrong with a ball of cheese but this was a silky, milky sphere of mozzarella, served with oranges, toasted walnuts & topped with truffle honey. Truffle honey. I tried to pair every bite with cheese, citrus, nut, and honey and each time I was successful, my mouth sang. To accompany my chews, my waiter suggested Rancoli Vermentino, a dry white with a crisp finish and enough adjacency to the fruit components of the burrata to make it make sense. Lovely. I forgot that I was in Jersey. For my main, I had a GF version of the pennoni alla genovese napoletana - slow-cooked caramelized onions & diced beef pasta. Simple but incredibly flavorful (which, I've learned, is what Italian food is all about). The plate was large and I could smell it before I saw it (a very good thing). To help bring the dish to life, my waiter suggested a warm red blend (earthy, cherry/berry forward). He was correct on the type of wine but I was a bit disappointed in the price point. Believe me, I know the ins and outs of the restaurant biz, but this glass should have been (at least) a couple of dollars cheaper (knowing what I could get a bottle for). This slight faux pas lessened my rating to a 4. Not the end of the world. Just know what you're paying for before committing. I was pleasantly full so I passed on dessert/coffee. Th NJ sales tax was less than I was used to but the dreaded credit card charge fee made an appearance. I probably spent more money on dinner than I would at present but I don't regret the experience. I slept very well that night. *There was a charge. Know before you go.
